1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

What I enjoyed from this sermon was how Alistair Begg describes the importance of the wording and grammar of these 2 verses.

The NIV reads "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

But this isn't correct. "Humble yourselves" and "cast your anxieties" are presented as 2 separate statements in the NIV.

But in the KJV and the ESV, the humbling of ourselves and the casting of our anxieties are presented as one statement. We cast all of our anxieties on the Lord by humbling ourselves, which we do by accepting the fact that we cannot control what happens to us in our lives, only God can.
