[Music] hi everybody hope you all safe and well welcome to part two of the knife built the ant then I felt oh don't worry about that little thing just a little thing I'm making at the moment might show you later if you decide to subscribe speaking of which please subscribe and hit the notification bell anyway part two so cuz I'm impatient unfortunately already glued the scales to the g10 liner but I'll show you what I did night and then we'll move on okay thanks for joining me again right as I've said I'm inpatient and I went on and it did this with Eloise um doing the video and so I got told off for that but basically I use this epoxy which is G flex epoxy resin this is called g10 now this is a like a fiberglass liner and the whole point of using these is one you get nice colors with definition between the blade and the scales but also it's a better bond between the steel and your handle material this stuff is very good at bonded and steel preparation for this is I rough this up with say either not like an 80 grit sandpaper clean everything off with acetone and then glue it together and then clamp it where we are at night issue I had obviously the aunt there's too thick for a handle because you can have a knife in between there as well so you all are done let's put this on the flat part of the grinder and then you grind the out again nice and thin but you've got to try and maintain the shape of both sides of that make sense so anyone do that and then what I do is I pack all the core of the antler which was pretty hard in all honesty but I pack it all with resin and then glue it on to the g10 so now this is a one solid piece so the next stage is to trim back all the g10 to get all this nice and tidy make sure the blades ready and just drill the holes and get this glued to the blade so let's move on Hey [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right so they've been grained flat now a little bit tidying up so they're pretty much ready to to move on it's in the next stage really before anything else with these is to get this blade prepped and we'll put the final edge on and then I can take this up and then that ends done and then we can concentrate on the on the handles [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hi everyone next stage is to H my um little stencil into the blade as you see I've cleaned the plate up that's don't know about a 400 I'll give it a final finish in a bit but now we've got to put the stencil on so the first thing I always do is go across with a load of acetone to get it squeaky-clean and then I'll put a link to where I get these these are my little vinyl stencils and there's a gentleman I buy them from who supplies them by the sheet you have to cut out the stance with yourself you don't actually take out the inserts but it's pretty easy put your tape on the outside squish it all on because the vinyls got a sticky back so you want it to stick to the tape but you want it to stick stronger to the steel that makes sense it all makes sense in a second okay so that's on there named so now we peel the back of the vinyl off carefully because if it's not stuck probably you'll peel it off with it and there we go so now we've got the reverse of the stencil which we then turn around and then you find your spot where you're gonna go it this is Exmoor blade so I do everything by hand as you know so that's on there and I good rub on there and then which one peel it off mask up the area and the reason I do this is you're not using the nasty chemicals all is is salt water I know it sounds crazy but you just need some just a little cup salt water which is their look and all I do is saturate that since they won't take any more salty so just use one more keep mixing in salt until it stops a train so now this is all masked off as you can see so that when we etch this the only part that's going to be etched is the bits that shone of Steel we need to do you connect as you see it's got a normal battery charger that's what we need you connect the positive to the blade there and then with the negative as you see I've got a little bud little worm corn but you just saturate it into your salt solution it's like salt and I've got the power off at this stage there's no power on and then this just clips to there now what you want to do so you're making contact through the salts which is what's going to actually steal but you don't want to touch the steel from this to this because you'll get a spark so now I turn on the power and we go in so now it's gone a bit closer and you'll see what happens what does it dirt as you'll see it'll start going dark I knew I'm just tapping it in Kappa in all it's dry if it starts sizzling and drying just you know get a new cotton bud or something and do it again and you don't have to do this for for long [Music] [Music] you have yourselves and you can feel it with your fingers as well see if one very long so I would go with it so put the link to the chap that I get these from and he's a fantastic guy and there you go we now have or X more plate right so that's a bleed pretty much finished needs to this final hand sanded and a final edge sounded but I always do that at the end I find it easier personally but you can see this thing is it's pretty much sharp already and I'm finished it but I want to protect the finish of the handle now so this is painters tape and the view of this stuff is it it doesn't leave any marks so now it's just a case of let's cover up what we've done X days now is to drill the holes for these [Music] [Music] right as you can see that I may ignore depends but I've drilled the first set of holes in there and I knots all nice then it's a case of just putting these together getting the correct pins and gluing it together so we'll have a look at that now when you're doing this it's imperative but everything is clean you can see that these scales I've roughed up with about a 60 grit and they're nice and flat which is really important [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right top tip for you so this put together we have plan to yeah like I said don't panic you've got time get yourself some wet wipes wonder wipes this is ones I use because they are absolutely fantastic because if you don't get a pox everywhere you're not doing it right and as you can see this stuff just takes it off and the most important part and this is ash I hate to scroll it Wessex blades who's the one who told me about this first if you leave this to set like this this epoxy is a nightmare to get off but just by using a wet wipe like so you're not affecting the epoxy under the scales now it's just a case of clamping it up when you clamp these up try to get them even and make sure you get it either end you know the whole point is that this should have all been dead straight before you start so it's a nice even clamp across a lot so we'll just clamp it up though next step will be to growing this one down to shape finish the handle but foil anodes on the blade and then make the sheath see [Music] one utility later [Music] right body so that's now signed it down to about 2000 so now it's just case of polish it all up get it looking nice I'll take this off clean this off and we'll have a look at the have a look at the blade [Music] [Applause] [Music]
