let me read that again for years trainers have taught them to lead with the business however then the ftc shuts them down and so it's like well maybe the product has this ever happened to you you're just going about your daily life and then the ftc shuts you down and then you're like well maybe the product fellow business owners how many times has the ftc shut you down [Music] what's up my fellow small business supporters i know that everyone here has been enjoying the anti-mlm book review series and i'm very grateful for that because i get to combine different elements of my channel as you guys know i started out as exclusively a booktube channel and then i expanded into doing author videos and then you know because a lot of my work as an author is actually being a small business owner running my own book related business i then started branching into small business videos which of course led me to the anti-mlm movement because i was already consuming content from that movement passively and i was like i really need to start speaking out about this because the small business owners of the world deserve better than this so now i'm really appreciative that people have been enjoying my anti-mlm book review series and that people have been sending me books in the mail i appreciate it because it means that i don't have to give money to these horrible people like for example this book freakishly effective social media for network marketing by ray and jessica higdon which if you have never heard of them i hadn't heard of them until this book either but it turns out they're very eric worry-esque and we are going to do some research into them and we are going to look at their website and we're gonna see what what these weirdos are all about so i was sent this book thank you this book is a hundred pages long in fact it's emphasized in being so short that the publisher of this book is a company called success in 100 pages and guys we're going to go into the publisher we're going to go into everything we're going to go into the history of ray and jessica i am going to uh pick out a few pages which i marked up a lot of this is the problem is these books they're like 100 pages long this one eric worries book these books are not that long but they take me for goddamn ever to get through because every single page is everything's wrong on every page everything's wrong and i have to annotate the out of every page just to get through this book but you know what it's gonna be okay uh because i've been putting stuff about this on my instagram story and it's been a lot of fun so let's go rip some pyramid schemers apart get you some nuts there was lots of memes it makes me wonder if i should pick up lesbianism chicago you guys asked for it hey coming out on this channel and i'm just so excited so excited to share it all with you that i'm filming this at 8 30 in the evening and i'm drinking caffeinated tea more caffeinated coffee was just gonna be too much it's the election week i've been drunk for three days let's move on to the book review we need to look into rey and jessica higdon and who they are and the higdon group that they run so in in um the video i put out a couple weeks ago where i reviewed eric worrie's book gopro i talked a little bit about eric worre and who he is and what i called him was the pyramid that encapsulates the pyramid so you have a company that has a pyramid scheme-esque structure maybe of a multi-level marketing company or a network marketing company or a direct sales company with uplines and downlines and things like that you have something that is not technically legally classified as a pyramid scheme yet but might but has that structure where someone is selling and someone below them gets a cut uh or you get a cut of the people below use commission and the people above you get a cut of your commission and that's how the overly complex compensation plan is structured yes so we have companies like those and you it's very easy to see how those form a pyramid if you can't visualize that then i have like 48 other videos about this i'll link them up in the cards uh where i break that down but anyway then we also on top of that have the business coaching world which let me be clear business coaching in and of itself is not an mlm or a pyramid scheme business coaching in and of itself can be a very legitimate business if you know what you're talking about if you have value to offer if you understand pedagogy and you understand theories of education and teaching and how people learn and you have the credentials and the experience to back that up then by all means share your knowledge and get paid for your work but this cultural hyper fixation on business coaching that every business owner now has to become a coach or every person who hasn't even successfully run a business um tony robbins needs to become a coach as their very first thing now that we have that kind of thing especially being perpetuated so hard on social media and on hustle culture instagram and like that that's almost forming a pyramid of its own right because you want to coach someone and then they're going to coach people on how to coach other people then they're going to coach people on how to coach other people and when does the coaching pyramid end when does someone produce something that's actually valuable i don't know maybe never but see here's the thing here's when you combine it is when you get people like eric worry and now people like ray and jessica higgs because these people are not only involved in an mlm and they are not only business coaches but they are business coaches that specifically coach people in an mlm so they are up here they're they're above the top of the pyramid there's like a pyramid within them they their body is a pyramid and they have eaten another pyramid and digested it inside of their stomach they're coaching people on how to then coach other people on how to then recruit people to then go on and recruit other people into their business and then when does when does the shitty protein shake product ever go on in the world who the cares it's just gonna give you diarrhea anyway let's talk a little bit about who rey and jessica higdon are their background before we get into this dumpster fire of a book they wrote actually should i no i'm not gonna set it on fire because uh i'm gonna do a giveaway with it so here is higdon group this is the company formed by the husband and wife power couple ray and jessica rankmakers is a quote-unquote secret tribe kill me of sorts were network marketing entrepreneurs like yourself uh like myself i'm not like you we're not the same we can learn and grilling discouraged or put down by so-called leaders and trainers who just don't understand us i'm sorry but how are you different than a so-called leader or trainer i'm i've yet to to see that this group is a safe place to learn grow and implement field tested and proven social media and marketing strategies to grow your network marketing business inside this group you'll discover a bustling community of some of the most inspiring and uplifting entrepreneurs on the planet hard disagree because i'm not in this group and i personally consider myself to be the most inspiring and uplifting entrepreneur on this planet just kidding my business partner chewie is actually the most inspiring and uplifting entrepreneur what a great story a dog started a business what a good boy our core mission and purpose is to help you and your team grow thrive and rank advance and rank advance i don't like that i don't this is what we call a um this isn't no this is not even an adjunct what would we even call this because this is not quite an adverb this is almost like this is like a false adverb and the term the part of speech term is escaping me and rank advance right we've got a noun here functioning as an adverb and i don't like it i don't like it right because you might say and advance in rank but and rank advance don't talk to me like that you'll find unique and fun opportunities limited time competitions and training sessions to help you and your quest to hit that next rank i love it i love when i have to pay you in addition to paying my upline for my starter kit and paying them part of my commission and then paying you for your training material to tell me how to get better at getting people to pay me part of their commission i just don't see how this provides value in the world but me so we're getting to a pattern here right we did this with rachel hollis book didn't see that coming we did this with eric worries book gopro now we're doing it with freakishly effective social media for network marketers now we're doing it with this too where before we even get to the first page of the book there are already huge problems to complain about so well this page well this is just the title page there's really no problem on here other than i changed the title after reading the book from freakishly effective social media for network marketers to basic ass social media for scammers because that is what this book actually is so anyway we the copyright page the copyright page is where this already goes wrong because we see right here this book is published by a company called success in 100 pages now i never heard of this company but i figured if they published a book that's this shitty there must be something wrong with them and lord was i right so let's take a look at success in 100 pages but we're not going to go too deep into it because now that i've seen how stupid this company is i'm like i'm ready to do a whole deep dive on this which is like y'all you know how much fun i had doing my deep dive on usborne because when i get to combine my knowledge of the book publishing industry and my work in the book publishing industry along with my experience exposing mlms it's like a perfect storm it's beautiful it's like it's like a marriage it's like it's like true love it's meant to be and now i found this company that deserves to get exposed because the way they're publishing books is butt here we are success in 100 pages our books reaching the peak let's see what it's about reaching the peak interested in reaching the peak many people assume the biggest earners in network marketing are naturally gifted well connected blooded blah blah i don't give a this is another pyramid schemer book okay look then we've got two books by ray and jessica higdon and then we've got this book called million dollar book formula which i don't know if it's an mlm type of book but it sounds really bad like it sounds like like a scammy author book like why did i review the book author printer when i was talking about how like elements of this business coach and mlm structure are starting to infiltrate the author world uh this is what it seems like right is there really a formula for writing a successful book no um there are tropes you can follow there are plot structures you can follow and there are genres with expectations that your readers might want but if you just follow formulas for your book well i i won't generalize every writer has their own process you do you live your own life so maybe i'm gonna have to read and review this so anyway this is success in 100 pages this company is very odd because and let me like i don't want to go too deep into this because i do want to do a whole video about this company but they are not a traditional publisher or a self-publisher which i totally support i am against the concept of binaries and publishing as i am with binaries in any part of life outside of computer programming and ones and zeros outside of that we don't need there to be only two options for anything right um and i wrote about that in my my book hold on quick shameless plug i wrote about that in my book hashtag savvy business owner anyway so i wrote about that in my book about how you don't have to commit fully to one model or the other but this this is not how you do it like this way that they did it is just really weird so anyway i'm going to talk about that in a future video but just so you know if someone wants to be like oh my god who even published this book a very weird company that's who a company that loves to publish network marketing style books that's who so now we're gonna delve into the nitty-gritty of freakishly effective social media for network marketing i keep not being able to say this title i keep wanting to say like freakishly effective strategies for social media but no it's freaking freak freakishly effective social media for network marketing alright so we get we finally got past the copyright page now let's go on to the special offer page over here they give a special offer it says special offer grab ray and jessica higdon's brand new social networker series video for 93 off learn how to set up your social media profile for the right way for maximum results exactly what to post to attract perfect perfect customers and biz builders to you what to say word for word to people on social media even if you don't know them scripts on what to say to get people to join or enroll step by step how to build locally using social media and i'm like first of all i thought that's what this book was supposed to tell me but i guess not anyway you get access to all five offers for the low price capitalized and underlined of only seven dollars that's 93 off okay so i was like so it's normally a hundred dollars you normally charge a hundred dollars for this but this is according this is a special offer apparently so i was like if this is a special offer that we're getting 93 off right i would assume there was some kind of coupon code or something that you need to enter that you got in this book or maybe like it was like it's a limited time but this book was published right here it says march 2018 the time i'm filming this it's november 2020 so over two and a half years later and i headed over to ray and jessica's website i went to the link that they put right here in the book socialnetworkerseries.com i went in there to see what how long does this special offer go for and check it out it's it's it's still going it's still going it's seven dollars through the course still so how is this a special offer if for the past two it says right here look at this it says limited time limited to what two and a half years ago you put out a book that had the exact same offer in it i mean i don't want to speculate but it kind of seems like this offer never actually was a limited time offer and you just artificially inflated it and pretended this was a hundred dollar product when in reality it was a seven dollar product the entire time and you were artificially inflating it to create false scarcity to get people to try to come to the website and click on it real quick well over here it says 97 crossed out over here it says down here it says it is a 98 value but over here it says it's 93 off making it seven dollars so that would normally be 100 like is your fake inflated price even gonna be consistent anywhere i don't get it so that's the page after the copyright page at this point i'm gonna run out of voice like i'm gonna lose my voice before i even get to the the book then we have a forward which is not actually a forward normally a four word is like you know little introduction to the book someone else sometimes will write it they'll write something else about like their experience with this book or like what the content of this book it means to them or something this is not even a forward this is just a straight up ad this is just a description of how good this book is and how good rey and jessica are at teaching social media which is like i'm already reading the book you don't have to sell it to me i don't know why people keep insisting on trying to sell me a book that i'm on page four i'm clearly already reading it now to keep this review as organized as possible i mean i think that ship is sailed at this point but to keep it as organized as possible i just kind of want to talk about the overall major glaring problem with this book read some examples of that and then also wrote some other things that are just ridiculous in this so the main the main overall glaring issue with this book itself and like just the way that this book presents information and i guess the overall thesis of this book is that this book in the same breath posits that network marketing is absolutely not a pyramid scheme but then at the same time always defaults to framing the strategies as a way that you can recruit people and get sign ups and the concept of selling your product is occasionally mentioned as like a small afterthought so when we look at what makes an mlm different from a pyramid scheme legally like we've seen with advocare recently right advocare was fined 150 million dollars by the ftc for being a pyramid scheme and they were defined as a pyramid scheme because it was found that through their sales that people who were making the most money in advocare were making significantly more money through recruiting other people through commissions on other people's sign ups through commissions on what their downline sold and what their downlines downline sold they were making commissions off of other people and off of recruitment and a lot of people didn't have to actually sell anything at all they just had to recruit recruit and recruit and if you're making all of your money off of recruitment and nothing off of direct sale to a customer of a product a customer who is external to the company who is not related to the company whatsoever if you are making more money on recruitment than on customer sales that is what crosses the line to being a pyramid scheme that was a problem for advocare so they had to get rid of their upline and downline structure now a lot of mlms will claim well we're not a pyramid scheme because our focus is on the product and then of course you look at their income disclosures and you look at their compensation plans and you realize no that that's a lie this book doesn't even pretend that like selling a product is important like it occasionally is like oh by the way if you're gonna focus on trying to sell a product but that's just the overall glaring problem that it comes back to which is that the strategies for using social media in this book our strategies for using social media to recruit and to present the business opportunity i was at least hoping that like someone like me who is a sales like i sell things for my own business right shameless plug i run forever home friends it's my own small business that produces children's books stuffed animals and other toys based on real rescue dogs and their journeys to getting adopted link in the description below go check it out last saturday we released the fifth book in our series called the love of senior dogs which is all about senior age dogs if i talk fast enough if i get fascinating then one day i'm going to turn into ben shapiro and then his sister will finally notice me anyway so as someone who does sell my books and sells my toys and used to do a lot of this at craft fairs before the pandemic and now is doing a lot of these things online selling on my website using social media using youtube as content marketing like i'm doing right now doing all of those things i was thinking you know even though i will never support one of these business models and even though i'll be able to criticize the advice from this shouldn't apply to an mlm perspective i was hoping that maybe i could learn something social media wise to apply to sales in general but this book almost forgets that sales is a thing because this book is all about recruitment you see the first like major examples of this on pages 20 through 21. this book begins talking about the difference between marketing and of prospecting and what it says is marketing is when you do something that you hope an unnamed individual reacts or responds to it could be a status update image video flyer advertisement billboard etc marking marketing is passive where you hope someone takes action from it that notifies you in some way prospecting is when you reach out to an individual online or offline cold market people you don't know or warm market friends and family members it is you at least attempting to start a conversation with an individual so a couple things jumped out to me about this first of all the concept of a prospecting so in eric worry's book gopro he refers to every person as a prospect like your friends their prospects your family their prospects strangers on the street prospects somebody who knows somebody on social media prospect your 16th connection on linkedin prospect everybody's a prospect according to eric worre so this language is exactly the same and it's like prospecting as in identifying people who are prospects people you want to target to rope into your business now later in the book it goes into ways to slide into people's dms effectively so we'll talk about that in a minute as it goes into the concept of prospecting this is where we see that the focus is entirely on recruitment and not on product whatsoever prospecting is proactive when you reach out directly to an individual on one of the social media platforms like facebook or linkedin and when you initiate the conversation by sending private messages to connect with people to see if they're open to the next step which is seeing a presentation so generally if you just want someone to buy something from you like if you're like i want you to buy i don't know my vacuum i want you to buy my weird milkshake powder whatever you don't need to present it to them the presentations are generally going over income disclosures compensation plans the way everything works the rule like the business opportunity so that's what it's focused on here we see nothing about selling a product and we're going to see this as we go through the book we are going to see this focus on recruitment over product over sales we're going to see this as a recurring problem but there are a whole lot of other issues we need to address in this book the next one being one i see on page 32 which is the fact that this book outwardly and directly encourages readers to be secretive about the company they're representing on social media if you've watched a lot of other people's anti-mlm videos or even if you've just been targeted by a lot of people in your life for mlms there's this recurring problem where people don't like to say the name of the company especially with amway we see this a lot with amway where people will be like you know i just had this cool mentor who helped me retire at 23 would you be open to hearing about it and you say like oh what's the name of the company oh well it's actually their own company and like they try to be secretive about it either that or like if someone you know starts talking about like oh i have a potential work from home job that someone could have if they're looking for a job and then someone in the comments will be like oh sure what's the name of the company i'll look it up and they'll be like hold on let me dm you instead they like won't tell them the name of the company and then even in the dms they'll be like well if you look it up you know there could be a lot of misinformation out there so just let me tell you like it's incredibly shady it's incredibly shady so let's look at what it says here so this part of the book is inten is specifically encouraging people that when they create their personal social media profiles they should not have their mlm company's name on their banner they shouldn't have it on their profile picture they just shouldn't have it on their page at all when people see your company name they will google it and draw their own conclusions and what do we find when we google anything probably something negative and i was like okay google my company forever home friends right now maybe someone out there has left a negative review but i have yet to see it or even if they did like they might like someone might leave a review that's like i personally didn't like this book or something and that's totally fine but like people aren't gonna be leaving reviews saying forever home friends is a scam because it objectively isn't so if there's that much negative press out there about your company that you don't want people to openly share what it is that's a red flag it specifically says down here you should not and the word not is underlined you should not have the name of your company or product all over your social media account because it hurts you in a couple of ways if there's plenty of information on what you do and what product and company you're part of on your social media account then your customers and prospects can and will go do their own independent research why is this a bad thing if you want the person to be the most informed you like you should be able to get information from multiple sources i can listen to an mlm rep tell me why their company is great and then i can google it and then generally i'll put all of that information together and from all of that i will draw my own conclusion that the company sucks but i'm not like i can still listen to them tell me about it and it's not going to shake me because if your information is true you should be able to hear someone say the opposite and still be able to determine what's true and isn't you guys know like when an mlm rep slides into your dms and is like hey i saw you liked my post about my weight loss transformation i bet you're interested in what i'm doing or something like that and then they're trying to recruit you for beachbody and it's like no dude you just seemed happy so i was literally just trying to say congrats because like i want you to be happy because you're my friend or whatever but like you don't expect that just because you like something or try to engage with someone you know online that you're gonna be the target of a sales pitch well it is books like this that are actively encouraging that behavior so it's talking about a lead right like a lead for a customer a lead in sales so it says elite is anyone that raises their hand by showing an interest in what you've shared on social media this could be someone who likes your post shares your posts messages you calls you or simply comments it doesn't matter anyone who shows interest in what you have is a lead the goal of any post is to get more people to show interest and raise their hand whether it's something on the product side or on the business side don't just rely on who responds to your marketing be sure to get your prospecting numbers in as well so it's this whole idea with that someone responds to your marketing by liking your post that means you need to prospect them you need to turn them into a prospect and slide into their dms when they didn't even know that you were repping an mlm company because the book a couple pages ago said that you shouldn't have their logos anywhere so especially essentially this book is actively encouraging people to deceive their audience and to try to trick them and get them into a position where they're uncomfortable saying no and to wear them down and that is just not an effective strategy for anything and if it is that's how people get scammed so like oh i just hate this i hate this ray and jessica hate it uh then here's just a funny example on page 41 of how a lot of these mlm books have no editor to be seen nobody edits these things he's talking about writing a post on social media to share a story about something and get people engaged and involved because they're connecting with your story and listening to it on that human side so it gives an example of a potential story you could tell so it says first of all this story is so dramatic i am i'm gonna read this i'm gonna read this in the most dramatic way possible here we go i was literally in the fetal position bawling my eyes out on the bathroom floor because i was so frustrated with how many people i was reaching out to and nobody was joining my business but i didn't give up a couple weeks after that i found my first leader and got things rolling so here's what helped me first of all you were in the fetal position on the bathroom floor is anyone believing this like was this meant to be a joke because i can't tell because it's like what but anyway my point is this book didn't have an editor clearly clearly success in 100 pages doesn't care about homonyms because they spelled the word balling like balling i even drew a little picture of an eye with a basketball and that's when your eyes are balling uh let's move on now to the page that i have marked up beyond all recognition so when i give this book away at page 45 is going to be a lot of fun uh we start on page 44 with them giving a lot of common sense advice that's the problem a lot of the stuff i'm just not reading through is the fact that the vast majority of this book is just basic common sense like so basic where it's like you should post about the things you like to post about you shouldn't be mean to people on social media like no well maybe i need to learn a lesson because i'm a on the internet all the time anyway this chapter or not this chapter this section is called check yourself before you wreck yourself and what i wrote on this page was that the only person this section needs to apply to is jk rowling she is the only person who needs this advice on how to check yourself before you wreck yourself because let me tell you she has used twitter to wreck herself and to wreck harry potter's all right this says um one of the traps that is easy to fall into especially if you're trying to create a lot of content fast is to allow some reckless inappropriate posts to slip through by this we mean things that might hurt your image your reputation and your chances for success and i was like some reckless inappropriate posts i'm feeling a little bit called out right now anyway um it goes into um imagine watching someone online for a long period of time and thinking this person is pretty interesting and they're providing valuable information and then suddenly that individual posts something that destroys everything they've worked so hard to build something like and it has three examples one is posting a video of themselves getting embarrassingly drunk at a party don't go to a party it's a pandemic get embarrassingly drunk on your own couch at home six feet apart from anyone that you don't already live with the next one says launching into an out of the blue and overly nasty religious or political rant um okay and then it says calling out a competitor or hating on them especially especially with expletive-laced language like that one's obvious the rest of it i disagree with i think you should be able to share your religious and political views online even even if you feel strongly about them i think you should be able to show yourself drinking if that's part of what you do like if it's i guess that depends what they mean by embarrassingly drunk like like what are you doing are you like vomiting on other humans like maybe maybe that's a little unprofessional but like if you're just like being a little goofy like i don't think that matters because here's what it comes down to i personally believe that authenticity is greater than curation and i've talked about this in the past the fact that like i am a business owner i run a business where my target audience is parents of kids and some people are like savvy but the image you have on your youtube channel is edgy and it's like yeah because that's my personality i'm an edgy creative artsy person that's who i am and i'm not gonna like if i put a fake overly curated image out there i just won't feel right about that and i won't feel like i connect with people the same way because for me it's all about connecting with other people and this book even says that connecting with other people is important but for me like if i'm going to put together an image of myself like that just gives me a headache and makes me never want to go on social media i like talking on youtube because i just say things to you and i tell you guys what i really think and you tell me what you really think and we have a conversation and we get to know each other and it's beautiful i love it so no i am going to talk about my religious and political beliefs and how i like to drink and like i'm gonna do that sorry it says specifically here there are only two reasons someone would post any of the above mentioned things one to attract attention and two because that person is just not thinking and that's not true a lot of times specifically the example where it's like um let's say you're posting a really aggressive political or religious rant on your social media maybe that's not because you want attention or you're not thinking maybe it's because there is a specific issue that you feel the need to stand up for and speak out about right now and maybe you have a right to be angry about that issue and if people are valuing the fact that they don't have to see your anger over everything else then that's a problem with the way that people are interacting especially about an issue that equates to something incredibly important in your life like for example i speak out against multi-level marketing companies on my channel i'm not quiet about how much i hate them and i'm not going to be because i think i'm taking a stand against companies that i genuinely believe harm small businesses and exploit people who have entrepreneurial mindsets exploit people who need jobs and exploit people who want to be self-starters i truly believe that and i am going to rant about that because i think that that is important to take a stand for the things that matter to you and that is authenticity and it is more important than a fake professional image that according to this book is not even allowed to have your company logo in it so no that the next page then goes into some toxic positivity where it talks about how you don't want your post to be negative it says it says that um a portion of the social media viewing public will write you off as a jerk for making a negative public comment it says like if you say something like man it sucks having to go to work today and then it's like yes there's a large section of the public who would agree with you but professionals are good solid hard-working people who don't complain about having a job because they recognize that there are unemployed people out there who would kill to have a job any job besides who wants to join someone's team when all they do is complain first of all i underlined joined someone's team because i'm like wow we're really still not talking about how to sell a product how this is still really all about joining a team isn't it and then beyond that there's just the toxic positivity element yes you should be able to complain about your job having a job is not is not automatically good because you could have a job where you're being exploited by your boss or your company you could have a job where you're being grossly underpaid and overworked workers have rights as a human you should be able to stand up for yourself and value yourself and your time as a human and it makes me feel like i don't know if it was intentionally doing this but it almost frames it as like any job is something you should be grateful for once you join our network marketing company you're not unemployed anymore and you should be grateful to be getting paid at all when in reality the vast majority of people in an mlm are going to lose money and even those who make money are almost all going to make ridiculously under minimum wage for the amount of hours they spend working around the clock so it's almost conditioning to be like well you shouldn't complain about that because any job is a privilege no that then it says here's an interesting question which is more important appearing polished and professional or real and accessible the answer is easy when it comes to connecting with people on social media your primary goal should be to appear accessible so with it saying now should you be real or be professional now it's saying you should be real not professional like that contradicts everything you just said because i'm telling you the way that i am real on social media includes negativity i'm a very positive person overall and like a lot of people know that i'm very high energy i'm pretty optimistic i'm naively and like ignorantly idealistic about the world and how i think all people have the potential to be good except for maybe tony robbins i'm real on social media and i it's not very professional and this book would say that that's wrong but i think it's right and then page 48 we've got some toxic positivity keep everything positive even when things aren't going well versus overtly complaining and searching for sympathy nope when i want to complain about something i complain about it that's just how i do it and then this is a page that i posted on social media so first of all the book has these kind of pages throughout them where they have a pull quote that takes up the whole page and then at the bottom it says take a picture of this page and use hashtag fesm and fesm is supposed to be freakishly effective social media right so it's basically i get what they're doing or they're trying to get you to take a picture of the page so that their hashtag can be full of pictures of these pages so i did this i took a picture of this page with my commentary on it and i put it up on my instagram because here's the quote on this page posting how much money can be easily made by your network marketing company is sort of like showing too much cleavage on social media it will get you attention but often not the type you're hoping for and i was like cool victim blaming bro um i am fortunate right now to be wearing a shirt that is covering my entire boobies that is not common for me because friends some people are are cursed with having boobs the size of their head it is a curse it is a curse and i've talked about this in other videos specifically my girl stop apologizing book review video it is a curse that i've literally been super underweight to the point of needing medical attention for it in my life and my boobs were still huge they were still almost the size of my head like i can't get rid of them it's a thing and this is not my fault that i can't yet afford breast reduction off so anyway i'm like sometimes my cleavage is gonna show if it's hot outside if my air conditioning is broken in the summer sometimes i'm gonna have cleavage showing and you gotta get over it and if it's getting me not the type of attention i want um that's the problem of people who like to sexually harass people so what i did was i took a picture that page just like it asked and i put it up on instagram with hashtag fesm so let's let's go take a look at it here's the picture i posted posted it right here and i did okay since you asked nicely fesm and then this person spinning in reality very kindly pointed out lol i just clicked the hashtag and it did not have the result they were looking for they probably should have checked if the tag already had an active post history all right let's head over to fesm y'all fesm seems to be a thing that already exists that's some freakishly effective social media right there rey and jessica if i've ever seen it forgetting to check the hashtag ahead of time to see if someone else is already using it for a different industry freakishly effective alright so now we're heading on to this new section called making first contact we're making first contact with zefram cochrane he's here to make first contact between the earthlings and the aliens to boldly go where no man has gone before that quote is from star trek specifically this example was from the movie first contact cite your sources hashtag girl back that statement up so in this section it talks about the four question formula which is like the four question this is basically like reno when eric worry was talking about his script you know the one i tried out on chewy is basically what you should say and what questions you should ask people to get people going right so it's the four questions that has what do you do how long have you been doing that for you must love it huh and have you considered doing anything else uh let's just talk real quick again how there's no focus on the product like literally they're trying to just get you to offer more people a job not even selling anything but just offering more other people a job because clearly no one ever sells anything if everything is about trying to figure out what people do and if they want to change our job so here's the example they gave um oh wait hold on one second guys one second i'll make this cool guess who's back back again ivy's back this is a quote from eminem girl cite your sources so what do you do oh i'm in real estate oh that's awesome how long have you been doing that for about 10 years you must love it huh that must be so exciting it pays the bills right well geez that doesn't sound like much fun have you ever considered doing anything else sorry about this horrible everything about this i only have one wig i need to get another wig so that i can do skits with two characters neither of whom are me so i was like that's pretty rude to just be like oh wow sounds like you hate your job huh like isn't that so rude but i don't think politeness matters to anyone here except when it comes to like not being religious or political on the internet suddenly then we're all about politeness i don't get it anyway then the next page has a section called for products and i'm like we're finally addressing selling products as like an afterthought i thought that would be the default if you are not a pyramid scheme but whatever anyway let's move on to some uh things that are a little more shocking so this section is called the power of posture it defines posture as the belief in what you have and how you represent yourself to others regardless of external acceptance or approval so for example that's like if a family member says to you this is a this is a pyramid scheme or something so like here's two examples of gives out so let's say the person says to you these things don't work why don't you just do something legit and then if you are a postured professional you will respond to this by saying something like yeah it's certainly not a fit for everyone well let me know if you know anyone who wants to make some extra money i gotta go meet up with someone right now but good luck to you and if this is anything like what eric worre was saying uh you're pretending to be busy to create interest so most of the time like outright says people are lying when they say they have to meet up with someone and the or if it says like the prospect says if this is network marketing i don't want to have anything to do with it then you as a postured professional are supposed to say cool no problem it is network marketing and i love it but it's certainly not for everyone hey i've gotta run but best of luck to you and i'm like if you are truly confident that you are right that your opinion is right that you are factually right that history will hold you up as the person who is right if you are truly confident in that you should be able to listen to the opposition and remain confident in it if you listen to the opposition and you're not confident in it anymore then maybe you need to reconsider and that's not me saying that like maybe you listen to the opposition and you realize that you weren't as confident anymore so you went and did some more research and realized that they actually were wrong and that like you had something else that you forgot to bring up like there's infinite circumstances but my point is if you're ever in a position where you can't listen to the opposition at all solely for the sake of it'll shatter your argument or it'll make you unprofessional or unpostured because everything will come apart immediately then that's a sign that there's something wrong there's a reason that i as your feminist as gay aunt from the 80s can watch classically abby i can watch her i can listen to her tell me that all of these things that i disagree with i can listen to her saying that you have to dress modestly i can listen to her victim blame women i can listen to her do all of those things and i can still know that i'm right and i can hear her say those things to me and i can listen to them and i can consider them and i can still determine that what i what i believe is true and what she's saying is misinformed and i can engage with that on a level with ideas because i am truly confident in my beliefs i don't like if abby came up i've actually been begging abby to come on my channel if she came on my channel we would talk about these things if she came up to me on the street and started talking to me about these things i wouldn't be like well that's cool um yeah i'm a feminist but like it's not for everybody so gotta run like because i'm confident enough that i can engage with someone else's ideas and if they present me with new information that i didn't have i am willing to reconsider i've changed my beliefs on many topics in my short 28 years of life yeah like i can do that and that's the thing if you are in a position where you are told not to listen to dissenting opinions at all because listening to dissenting opinions is only going to shake your confidence and hurt you you might be in a cult like i'm not saying you're definitely in a cult i'm just saying you might be like it might be time to take back take a step back and evaluate why are you afraid to hear something else and if it's just because you you're frustrated with it or said like there's infinite reasons but if you truly are afraid to engage with it then maybe you're in a cult you should that's all i'm gonna say and i'm gonna do a more in-depth video on this topic later not specifically related to mlms but more related to argumentation and how like you know even like an extremist news source i can listen to alex jones and just laugh about how wrong he is but listen but i i i don't have to not engage because it's gonna ruin something you know what i mean you should be able to see that information out there and think critically and realize it's wrong and if you're not willing to do that or if you're scared to do that or if someone in your life is telling you like your upline or someone in your family or your friend is telling you you can't do that you can't listen to that regardless of whether the thing the thing in question of being listened to is right or wrong regardless if you are told you can't even seek it out you might be in a cult all right let's go into the parts where it addresses the term pyramid scheme directly we're heading to page 75. so in this part uh ray and jessica are talking about their when they first started in network marketing and they first started sharing presentations with prospects and things like that and being nervous at first and how that shook their confidence and stuff so it says i was sharing the presentation by sending people the video then afterward before i would even ask them what they liked about the video and go into the clothes i found myself thinking uh here we go again they're going to absolutely hate it it's going to be the worst they're going to tell me it's a pyramid and i suddenly realized by having that mentality that's exactly what i was encouraging people to say to me and then it talks about how you can't have a rejection mindset because the rejection mindset is somehow going to like magnetically attract rejection to you which is some law of attraction type of like it's the pseudoscience part of that so i'm not here for that but on top of that i'm like so you addressed that you had the fear of people thinking it was a pyramid if it's not a pyramid why do people think it is and that's not me to say that no one has ever wrongfully labeled something as a pyramid scheme that's not to say that but my point is if you are continuously running into this problem where you regularly worry about people uh this is a pyramid scheme and shutting you out like why do you think they regularly do that because most companies in most businesses don't have people regularly doing that just saying not saying that your company is a pyramid scheme just saying that you dropped some red flags there then i want to end on page 80. this is the wildest thing that i've ever read in print this is just like this is said without a hint of self-awareness so this section here is called leading with the product versus the opportunity we're finally addressing that there's been a lack of leading with the product somewhat also it's about what you're leading with not what about your end goal like your end goal should be to sell the product if your company is direct sales and not a pyramid scheme but okay anyway so here's how this section goes for years trainers have taught to lead with the business however then the ftc shuts them down and so it's like well maybe the product that's literally how it's written let me read that again for years trainers have taught them to lead with the business however then the ftc shuts them down and so it's like well maybe the product so that it's talking about how you should lead with the product because statistically you're probably more likely to make a sale of a product than recruit someone but like you should also still try to recruit everyone but it's not even framed as you should focus on selling the product because that's what's important is finding customers rather than finding customers that are also going to be your competitors because that makes no business sense can we just call out there with zero self-awareness however then the ftc shuts them down that's that's that doesn't raise a red flag for you that didn't set off any alarm bells then the ftc shuts them down has this ever happened to you you're just going about your daily life and then the ftc shuts you down and then you're like well maybe the product oh my god can we make merch that's just says well maybe the product like that's not even a full sentence it just says well maybe the product well maybe the product guys it's i'm filming this on thursday november 5th the u.s presidential election has been going on for like three straight days i'm not drunk for the first time in forever and i'm losing it well maybe the product but then the ftc shuts them down put f in the chat if the ftc has ever shut you down i'm trying to calm down with some tea over here i need to breathe in some essential oils i need to breathe in a young living calming blend oh my god fellow business owners how many times has the
