wake that ass up in the morning the breakfast club morning everybody it's dj mv angela yee charlemagne the guy we are the breakfast club we got a special guest in the building yes sir y'all from the united kingdom he's a heavyweight champion of the world 22n-o anthony joshua welcome sir good morning thank you for having me who is anthony joshua for the the americans that don't know that may not follow boxing it's a normal guy coming to boxing when i was 18 and i only used it as a route to kind of better myself as a person a smoking drinking party and trying to be something that doesn't represent my community probably in my opinion um so through boxing i healthy sleeping better i surround myself around different kind of people and that's just who i am now just trying to live my positive life through the sport how did you get into boxing was it my cousin took me so i got banned from the area i grew up in for fighting too much nigeria the uk because this is uk okay yeah so we went nigeria when was younger and went to school there for a bit came back getting in a little bit of trouble it's that period when you leave high school and you're trying to make that transition to like college or university so i was figuring out what i want to do in the real world but um in those two years got into a bit of trouble um left where i grew up went to london and i was chilling with my cousin and he was boxing so i thought let me get involved in this it looks easy sitting down in my chair watching him do it you know when you're watching mike tyson saying yeah i could do that i can do this and then i found it a different kind of challenge when i got involved and um it was mainly the lifestyle it gave me different stop smoking drinking as i said and changed my life around what do you call it a bit of trouble like was you was thugging in the streets of the uk i won't call it [ __ ] i'm smarter than i'm not trying to be i wasn't trying to be a [ __ ] as such i think argument dog you said [ __ ] doug doug okay know that i'm correct no no i'm in the states i'm gonna embrace the culture yeah i wasn't so much thugging but i was looking for opportunity in the wrong places okay yeah so in the show like selling drugs um it wasn't really just just connecting the dots connecting the dots i was really good at connecting the dots i would always uh no matter where i went i create friends build bridges i know him he knows him and just connect the dots around uh out of london and in london so if i wanted some drugs i'd be like anthony you know where to get the drugs at not so much to drugs anything anything anything not screen tv screens anything anything anything but you mix with the wheel is in the dealers of the world and sometimes comes with some problems and some interesting situations and uh you become street smart and that's what i said it wasn't so much about the thugging it was about being smart and uh but when you're young you think you're smarter than the law you think you're smarter than your parents and yeah you find yourself in all sorts of problems but when i pulled myself away from certain situations and i had time to sit back and think for myself that's when it wasn't about him him or what they want to do was about me and that's when i fixed myself up now you're associated with the uk you're raised in the uk that's home but you nigeria is your roots though right yeah so my parents all from my uh dad and my mom there they came to the uk so i'm born in the uk so i'm first generation in the uk mhm no well i did when i was younger in vegas as an amateur before um me and my cousin we thought we met all of the great champions zab judah floyd mayweather senior went to his gym uh john ruiz but i was like 19 at the time so it didn't really it's not going to have the same impact as it will now right yeah i fought here once before and i was young how did the the the the the stardom of anthony joshua start because you're 23-0 you make like 20 million a fight from what i heard how long have you been making 20 million a fight i don't know if i'm making 20 minutes a fight i don't like to talk about money and stuff you can punch him in the face every time you fight 80 000 plus people you know what it is i feel like um all right when i first started boxing the global financial crisis was in 2008 so that's when i first started boxing okay so there was no investment into sport from big corporate companies so they weren't doing no commercials because they're putting their budgets in other places so what then happened is that as i was progressing i went to the olympics in 2012 when they just start coming out of the recession but it wasn't truly over but at the same time when you look at all the sports golf tennis basketball nfl they were putting their money in these big sports rather than boxing it's a blood sport you saw let's say yesterday when the guy pushed me with effing and blinding big corporations don't want to put their money into that type of thing because they're looking at it saying is that really what we want our brand attached to right i made sure i connected with the people instead of showing people i'm a fighter i'll just show them my gym training because everyone goes to the gym so i was building my brand alongside the economy which was good and then just being myself as well that's number one instead of when the camera's in front of me i'm trying to be something i'm not i just thought let me just be myself because i'm going to be in front of the camera so many times and just dedicate myself and if you like me you like me if you don't you don't what can i do i can only give my best and that's just that's just my strategy and that's how people got invested and interested and followed my routes from the grass to championship level well that's what a lot of people think about you they think that you're just a brand that was created like you're a good-looking guy you got the muscles let's just let's just let's just promote this guy and market this guy and create something but they don't believe you're like a legitimate fighter i feel like um someone asked me the other day what does it take to kind of be a champion i don't know it's a good question i said i feel like dna because you are who you are so with that let's say muscles and stuff that's just dna i am who i am i said environment so i placed myself in in the gut took myself to championships all around the world swam in the deep end and i came out on top most of the time and applying myself and i applied myself and i'm that's why i said i was never trying to be a thug or use boxing to try and be a macho man um and i was strategic with all my moves calculated every step of the way and we still do that till this day and um that's that's just how everyone should move one life we're here to live it make the most of it you've got to be strategic i ain't about no hype um just keep my nut down because it's a nut down but we call that as head head man yeah so we call that nut that's it's cockney it's company so we've got thugging and we've got no i thought that was a new way to let you know just keep my head down yeah and i don't know i think that's cool that's down before fights though right down before fights that's what they say so um and that was it that was a strategy just keep my nut down keep my head down keep focused no no bs no nonsense and and importantly as well is represent the right way because i hear certain quotes like we have enough leaders i mean enough sportsmen actors entertainers it's important that you have leaders and stuff as well so just try to represent myself in the right manner as well what do you think what do you think about big baby as a as a boxer that you're going to take him on june 1st what do you think him as a boxer what it is with him when i clocked him yesterday so i took a bit of time to figure him out he um when he got on the mic he's talking about you know i ate with the roaches there the roaches ate before me and all this stuff then i look at his style and he takes a lot of punishment before he can get the win so what he does i think he convinces himself that he's lived through the gutter to get where he is now so when he fights he's able to go through hard times to get the win so when i think of big baby he's not the most talented fighter but he has the heart of a champion so with talent and heart which i think i possess and he's just got the heart it'll be difficult it's heavyweight boxing but i'll come out on top for sure why the hell is your finger bleeding uh just watch your knuckles i was gonna ask you right after i was looking at that would you just push your wall first of all you need some lotion come on represented you just trained how do you train yeah this is serious business hitting the wall big baby pushed you and you got mad you started hitting walls yesterday or something big baby this is before big baby why are you feeling what happened stress stress stress what do you mean stress stress that's a little more you bite your neck your thumbs or something no you don't bite his belly knuckles i'll give you ten dollars if you're putting shots out you're gonna need 20 million for that yeah why what you said stress stress was this lap after last was this no this was in the uk this was in the uk hitting the walls of your castle like what the hell no castle i'm trying to get to the castle but first and foremost you've got to think of your family okay um and i always feel like if you can't bring your family together how can you bring a community together or or bring the world together so it's a struggle trying to get all my family together and understand um where i'm trying to take them and what we're trying to do and stuff like that so yeah that's stressful sometimes your family split apart like yeah i got a big family okay and they're all coming out now that you're back yeah and i love it though because without family who we got so i'm just trying to get them to understand is that even though they're with family there's love but with family we have to understand economics and and plan for the future so i'm not the type to have like too many material things because right now i'm just trying to supply my family with the elder generation with an easier life because they made some mistakes they had it tough my generation have to work hard because you still got the energy and the younger generation i want to make sure they have a good education and um it's just bringing connecting all the dots and having everyone understand that no one problem is bigger than all of us so we have to kind of balance ideas and what we're going through so that's it well if you keep hitting on walls and messing up your hands you know they're messed up anyway you're not gonna be able to secure the future to where you want you got a few more fights in yeah anyway now are you scared to lose this this lifestyle you're living by fighting a real champion no it's not so much the lifestyle i'm living i feel i'm definitely scared to lose the lifestyle i'm living because the world doesn't set up for us to make it and keep it so i get that so i've got to be smart but in terms of finding a real champion um that was a little stab like you ain't fighting no real champion we're going to get to that that's what i'm saying yeah it's good good this is what we're here for 20 hours you punched me keep going up he gets 20 million a fight why would he punch me for twenty dollars he might get there after this come on you insulting you gonna let him insult you like that no no no so we fought so in my 16th fight when i went i'm just on stats and facts that's some facts like i don't know why people if maybe if i was from the states you know you guys have hollywood the biggest uh breakfast shows music so i feel like where i'm from it's like just tagging along to what you guys are doing over here so maybe i just feel like i don't get the looking i deserve but that's why we're here now to kind of come to the biggest platforms and speak about what we do so um if you just look at the stats and the facts um i've outperformed beaten better champions been in the game less time changed the game with that being said and uh i just feel like none of these guys can compete with me when it comes to stats and effects they can talk a good game as we saw yesterday as well they can really talk a good game which is good we need the entertainment or the business but when it just comes down to nitty gritty stats and effects i'm levels above and the the paperwork shows that as well i just think right now you have louis ortiz out there yeah he's a good fighter tyson fury good fighter you have deontay why fight big baby miller at this point in your career if you want to be looked at as one of the elite if they look at you as one of the elite why not fight one of those three i agree with you it's a good question it's a good question so if you look at yesterday right um how it's got everyone talking about it in our industry it's a perfect move to come to usa and fight like i'm fighting in msg he's from brooklyn new york so it made sense to fight and then once i uh established myself here then we look straight at the lewis ortiz if world war fury isn't ready because my strategy was to fight wilder in april because he was about this one face one name champion so we was all right cool wilder has earned ten pound we're going to offer x he wants all the belts we've got all the belts biggest stadium but he wasn't interested so now what we've done we've come to the states as well to show that if you don't want to do it on our surf on our turf we can come here and we can box on your turf as well so it's just a power move as well as a uh passionate move for the love of the sport and then once i get big baby out of the way if um if wild and fury i'm still not interested because i was talking about blacklisting me they don't really want me to be leading the pack as such in terms of negotiations which is weird to me because there's enough for everyone to eat then i can look at straight directly at louis ortiz because that's the next guy that i feel like once i've broken the market in the usa he's a good uh fighter i'm talking about like he trashed yeah that's gonna tell you that he's not on louis ortiz tyson fury oh wow no that's he's right he's right big baby's good but those guys they're elite they're really do you think you can beat any of those guys 100 what makes you think that um stats and facts i've been in the game uh a lot less time i've swam deeper and i've come out on top each time so i just think just born born to do what i do and i don't need to boast and brag about it either i'm just born to do what i do and there's no two ways no two ways about it but i i'm on record of saying i don't think you can beat any of those guys ortiz fury or wild but that's what i was right now is good because they i used to carry this whole division on my own back but now it's good to have an opinion yeah yeah i had to have a big bat i had to build myself up you know have a fixed skin because opinions and so on but now it's good to have oh i don't think you can beat wild i don't think you can beat fury the division is thriving as a whole everyone's bringing signs to the table now before i was just sitting here and that's why i got a lot of envy and hate because they were like why him why him where him but i was saying but you guys have been professional 10 15 years and never made the move to fight anyone that's a few fought vladimir klitschko one fight and now became a boxing god but he he's been professional at 11 years and i'm thinking what took these boys so long to grow some nuts look like they're nuts down and let their nuts down when we come and done it in four years when it took them 10 10 years so um i didn't just know that like stats and facts i'm just levels above because i got the balls and the skills why does the last two fights though he fought ortiz tough fight fought fury to fight those two hard back-to-back fights they are hard back to that fight and i think he realized that if he wants to get the respect as a champion he can't have 38 fights 40 fights without fighting no incredible so i think he's realized that you know i want to be popular in the states i want to hang around with the athletes and the movie stars and to get the respect amongst people in my own industry i need to fight people so it's taken him 10 years to grow that confidence which is fine but now he's here and he's got a young champion coming through we have been negotiating trying to get this fight made and i'm sure it will happen because we're in the same era same division there's no reason why it can't happen it's just timing unfortunately we feel that same way about you though we saw you fight klitschko but i mean who who since then so parker so what happens is that so i thought in my 16th fight took the title defended it against dominic brazil who wilder's probably gonna fight next so it's like why are you going backwards but anyway so fort brazil um defended it against i was supposed to fight klitschko straight after defended against molina because klitschko pulled out of an injury bang klitschko so now i had my hand on one belt three fights later i took another belt uh defended it against another fighter beat parker took his belt so now i'm saying i've collected everything so it's like lord of the rings i've got all four wilder come and see me if you think you're the best in the world in the king of the king of the division come and beat me and prove it and then you can run wild and be there you know negotiate them crazy terms that you're talking about so i just felt like if you're the best in the world and you and you truly believe it come and see me let's get pen to paper and then you have a chance of fighting in front of a hundred thousand people payday all the belts and you can prove to the world you are the best buy it's just been a bit difficult now what would a crazy eternal because wilder said he was willing to come fight on your turf he said he's willing to take less money what was the problem that's the thing i i couldn't even tell you yeah that's what i'm baffled about so as i said april 13th we had the date set and it was like when you started listening to certain things it was like oh we want to blacklist him if you hear what he says sometimes oh he's been trying to contact our management but we're not interested tyson fury um that's the guy we want but then i'm saying but it was about one face one name one champion but i can't really control what wilder says or what he does just no say that when he's ready we're ready and whatever he's done in his career we can um we can surpass that and double it triple it and give him a better offer than he's ever seen before and give him a shot at becoming one of the best fighters in history did you walk anyone did you hear when he was on the breakfast club i've heard a lot of his interviews i'm sh i'll definitely listen to it now we got it right we got it right we got you i had to deal with uh sky sports they wanted me to come over and commentate for them and i told them i come on one condition and the the turns was i get in the ring with joshua at the end of the night so we talked about the sky sports thing so i said to the only time i've let someone in the ring after the fight is when i had signed the deal so klitschko got in the ring with me because we had a deal sign and i was like let's get him in the ring after i win and now we promote the fight saying the date set the fight set why would i want it to come without signing no contract so why are you getting in the ring this ain't about um building profiles or hype if you're serious and you want to get in the ring let the world know we've got a fight if you're if you're not serious and you haven't signed a fight there's no need to get in the ring because this is my show yeah that makes sense yeah so it was just like sign the contract let's do the door then get in the ring and we'll announce the world that listen the next two champions are fighting each other and there's going to be one face by that time we had no deal in place so i said don't waste your time on my time um the fight's already big we don't need to let's not waste no promo that's right yeah that's what it was so that was that situation that was my view on that situation i like how you're producing this tell them then you know a couple of days later i get a phone call from my manager he was like saying that ain't gonna be able to happen because joshua talking about up into the security on me i even heard about restraining orders and stuff saying he don't want to hype to fight you know for what and you know and it's no it's kind of true but no restraining orders i'm not really into like hey up the security wilder's not coming anyway so why am i worrying about opponent security yeah just a situation where signing the contract it's a good fight to promote get in the ring we can talk to all the cows come on so they say wilder why are you over here um we're trying to negotiate a fight yeah yeah that makes sense so that was just my view on that situation okay more but he's his point is 75 percent right and his promoter you know he always manipulating the fans over there always telling them different stories so they can because they don't want to fight me you know what i mean they don't want to fight me at all joshua has a fear of losing and they know i'm the most dangerous man in this game period in terms of the most dangerous man in this game i don't really that's opinions are fine i don't really believe that he's a good talent but i don't think he's the most dangerous man in this game in terms of free and illusion of course that's that's how i feel i don't want to lose but neither does he but it's not a point of a situation where i will stop doing what i love because i fear losing if you can't enjoy if there's no rain you can't enjoy the sun it comes with a territory losing in this game so i'm never afraid of losing is what it is but as i said if he's serious if he was serious he had the opportunity to date the venue set you just weren't interested if you could find an interview when he says they want to blacklist me they want to keep me out of the game um i've been trying to reach out to his management uh they're not interested they want to fight tyson fury they want to rematch him so there's always contradictions that you can find and if you listen to what i said is that there was an offer of 50 million i said that's a really good offer did they offer me 50 million to come here i said that's a really good offer but we just wanted to see proof of funds that wasn't available so we said all right cool let's get it over in the uk april 13th um made him on afar and then he said that he wanted to blacklist me and fight tyson fury and that was the situation linux lewis said it's your promoter eddie hearns bad decisions that caused the wild to fight not to happen no eddie in my opinion he's done a phenomenal job to bring boxing back he's taken over the game um but i just i'm not really into like it's hard to say he said she said of course look it's my fault as well and his fault i'm not gonna say it was it's all him and i'm sitting here ready because why is it your fault the fight hasn't been made somewhere along the line maybe i didn't make the right offer or something like john i mean so it's bit of both of us as well so he didn't like certain things i didn't like certain things maybe i should have just given him everything he wanted to make the fight happen but in hindsight i've got people that are managing me protecting me saying you know what you've got to play ball as well it's a negotiation you don't get what you work you get what you negotiate and uh it's difficult times when you've got two people who bring something to the table and um sooner or later we'll find out who the best is and that's where we're going as you said like ortiz wilder uh fury we'll all connect the dots to you know later i know it's a strategy and they're building up the brand that anthony joshua do you think eddie hearns believes in you the way he says he does because he won't put you in the ring with any of those guys right now i just feel like we made the offers like we made tyson fury um big offer to fight april 13th he said he wasn't interested in no percentage splits give him a flat fee really mm-hmm they made the office to fight that was the last april just april coming i just say procumben this april seems like he's scared not surprising coming from fury yeah the proof's in the pudding i could get up like emails and stuff the proof's in the pudding we made a lucrative offers to get these guys to fight and i'm saying that like when i was fighting for the championship belt i took the low end of the stick because i knew that i wanted to prove i was the best and once i do that i can sit here as king now and say i run the division i'll come and see me right so i'm saying that i've got four the major belts like what more do you want you can fight for the belts your biggest payday i've given you your biggest payday i fight in front of 100 000 people so it's a global uh sporting event to kind of build your profile look at big baby miller he's kind of gone on and now become a youtube sensation for that push um so you can see it's a global youtube so it's like it's a it's a it's a global event so with all these positive things i'm just baffled to say why they don't really want to fight yet so you think these people are scared of you as opposed to we thinking that you're scared of them i don't think honestly hannah my heart there's no fear in any of these guys hand on hand on heart word is born word is born i said the word is born dead ass huh yeah the word is more than that i gotta hunt it for you [Laughter] none of these guys are scared but i just feel like they they want big rewards for for less risk but they're getting it though that's that's that's my point as well yeah that's my point but as i say maybe it's my fault maybe it's their fault not the blame game i don't think they're scared i just feel like they want big rewards for less risk do you think boxing is more focused on politics and making money rather than the actual sport yeah yeah massively yeah massively which is which is fine because mayweather showed us you gotta be about your business you gotta be you know what i mean he changed the game what's the problem getting making money especially when you're getting beat the hell out of it yeah i feel like years ago you know a lot of guys were losing money and getting bad advice i watched the documentary like 30 30 broke espn all those documentaries and you hear so many stories of um athletes making you know bad decisions and mayweather kind of showed me as an athlete how to handle your business and stay in control so i feel like it's important to be about your business and be about your money but at the same time the fans miss out on certain things as well so it's a balance in that so where i learn from two ends of the spectrum i'm trying to kind of correct it and be in the middle and say that's what i'm saying maybe i just didn't give them enough maybe it's my fault maybe they wanted way too much maybe i've got to kind of bring their fantasy back to reality so i'm just caught in the middle of what is holding this fight up but i just feel like these guys shouldn't blacklist me out of the situation because i'm the one with the majority of the belts how can they even i don't see how they can do that though i can how can they black little shoes you got the belt while they got the belt yeah how can they blacklist you so it's just like um so i feel like i'm only champion until june the first so i gotta go out and defend my belt but i feel like uh me to say now he can go and fight someone like dominic brazil who isn't so much of a fresh state champion it's good to be champion you know and um just stay stay relevant stay relevant and then when the time comes the division will change who knows what will happen june 1st and then maybe big baby miller yeah i want to fight big baby miller for the belts now because he gets the big reward wilder's at a side less risk so it's just strategic in time and that's what i've always realized is that what i do today may not make sense but in five years it will so what they're doing today they're these guys are smart who represent wilder and fury um and wild and furious smart themselves so they've got a plan as well for the long term i've just got to kind of fit in with their plan and make sure we deliver this heavyweight championship fight now when this interview comes out every single one of those guys are going to say you're lying and that you yeah you're going to try to make a fight with fury wilder you're scared mm-hmm but i said and i'll make it clear is that no one's scared i'm not blaming them for anything both of us have issues you said you got the proof you got the emails yeah we've got the emails all the offers big offers um i've got the belts there's no more to it there's no more i could really say about the situation imagine like uh another chat said look charlemagne we're gonna give you another chat show chat show chat show what'd you call it what'd you call it chat show yeah another morning show gave you a big offer um bigger audience um based in more territories than you are now charlemagne's out is charlemagne is out so that's what i'm saying this is the same situation that these guys are in so i'm just baffled to say like why aren't you interested in kind of taking opportunity and then they say that okay if you can get this to double our viewership double our territories you can now take all of what you've built and bring it back here as well so when they come and beat me if they're serious and they want to prove it then they own the division so i'm not saying that all right fight me and then if you beat me you've got to give me back the belts and i'm still a champion now i'm saying like prove to the world that you're the best come beat me and take everything i've worked for if you're serious and that's just there's no more to be said just a lot of things that like wilder is doing are like a little bit unpredictable like you're like you're moving kind of predictable like i knew you was gonna fight big baby i said i said i guarantee you yeah yeah yeah yeah bypass freezing bypass watch he's gonna fight somebody like big baby and sometimes saying that yeah and sometimes i feel like it's so predictable because when i'm hearing i'm being blacklisted and when i'm hearing fury you know don't want like uh 34 ems to fight me in in a two-sided fight um dylan white doesn't want his biggest payday and then we've got him out already though yeah but it's big in the uk okay and then we mentioned ortiz and we didn't hear anything until i'd find a site with big baby miller and then he was like oh um you know i know joshua's not scared but if he really wants to prove that he's the best then he should have come to see me but i'm like why did you now mention it after i've signed a deal with big baby miller so as i said from a strategic point of view yeah i don't understa like if he's offered to fight all these individuals he got the proof he got the emails but these guys they want to fight him what's the problem it should and i don't think it's because they're scared i just think it's not the right time for them that's all it is i just think you know they've got other options they're interested in finding fury and wilder number two um when there's no belts on the line you can't come and become uh what's the undisputed champion of the world so is it the right time for you though yeah yeah definitely you sure yeah yeah why not okay why not no stress no stress for me i've got another 10 years in the game these guys have 40 fights for 10 years you're saying no stress but you got bloody fingers yeah something's scratching you that's that's another situation how did you remain so calm after big baby pushed you that was a hell of a push that wasn't like a regular like you know we just trying to hype things up for the fight like he pushed the [ __ ] out of him i just feel like i'm a big baby um it's like playground stuff you know when you take your kids to school and they're pushing and shoving each other and the teacher is like hey break it up this show me show me how you pushed you push all of me okay yeah i just think it's just rgb it's it's kids play it's kids i can't take that too serious and my guy pushed me it takes more than that to rattle me you know what i mean so that's just where that's where i come from with that situation and at the same time you know you gotta kind of hold yourself together you can't show no emotion there's a time and a place for it now you once said you you you could be like muhammad ali by the end of 2018 what do you mean about it did i say that you didn't say that if i did i retract that statement i can't be like he's an icon he's one in a million um i could be like muhammad ali wow that's a big statement so why did you say it uh he don't even remember something i don't even remember saying that that's the problem with what we say yeah that's a problem with what we say but um now muhammad ali's one in a million how in touch with you are you how in touch with you how in touch are you with your nigerian culture massively i feel like growing up in the household was like nigeria you know when you come home it's the cultural food my parents you know remember they they lived there they grew up then they came to uk so they're very culturistic and then i had the best of both worlds which is good because i can come and sit with you guys i can sit with puerto ricans latinos asians um it doesn't matter what part of what chinese doesn't matter what part of the world you're from i'm blessed enough to have seen so many different cultures you know some people never leave their their neighborhood right let alone their country so i feel like their views are quite limited i was lucky enough to hunt i've had the african influence and then i met other people from ghana different parts of africa um i mean like my community was a lot of english and then we had the west watford which was a lot of asians then we had like further in west watford which were a lot of gambians so i was connected then you had the jamaicans there was so many different cultures i was involved around which helped me grow up because i feel like i can connect with anyone no matter where you're from which is a blessing so yeah being in touch with my roots and stuff helped me see the world from different perspectives are you have you adjusted to stardom in the uk could you like a huge superstar in the uk i had a big argument with uh with ed sharon and stormzy yeah yeah one time at dinner we was arguing you know i was saying deontay or not anthony joshua and they was like he said they was highly upset by me saying that because they support they supporting they support their cause everyone's gonna support homegrown talent but would that start himself i'm not really into that nonsense i'm not really into it it's here today and gone tomorrow yeah you know what i mean and then i just think i always think to myself right it's about when i'm eight years old can i sit back and say all the decisions i made were the right ones for the future so that's kind of where i'll get peace i don't kind of fight to be popular i don't fight to kind of um have the most likes on instagram i just do it because i'm part of it i'm running it and i'm gonna do it to my best ability so when i'm 80 i can look back and say i handle business like a g you know i mean and there's no envy in watching the young guys coming up doing it better than i did so that's just kind of how i play my game right now when's the last time somebody came up to you to start a problem i used to hear the stories of mike tyson all the time he's walking down the street yeah yeah yeah yeah thinking that they can knock him out yeah does that happen to you at all it's just really in the fight game i think because i i'm quite approachable my connection with people is different i'm not coming in a gully ting hood up looking like what you know i'm just kind of like what's going on connecting the dots kind of people yeah you haven't had to slap anybody in all time nah cause that's what i said to you earlier is that when i was younger i always had this thing where i could connect dots i never burn bridges always building always building bridges worldwide never really burn bridges but you got mass security though is that the like keep you from having to be in those situations where you may have to do something i think it's work as well it's work and it's mainly time it just keeps things in a in fine order you can't stop and take pictures and talk they put they make sure they get you out the way yeah just it's just work as well so it's just kind of just keeping a balance of organization time and you know the good thing is even though their security their family and friends all right so yeah it's not so much like uh like this guy don't root for me it's about sorry sir i know this guy's about to knock you out while i clocked up five minutes ago you're on your own like that's not the security relationship we have they're like family to me so it's thrown through they got my back and i write for them as well if anything happened to them i'm stepping up every security guard you got looks like tyson fury by the way what about the ladies yeah yeah ladies are good what are y'all what are y'all called thoughts in your uk i i don't want to say why i want a dishes fat in that woman no that's not difficult i'm just saying like it's a certain um thoughts i'm not to say that but yeah yeah yeah they're in all different cultures and [ __ ] there's uh you know women and men we're all thoughts anyway deep down you know well now i'm i'm a faithful black man deep down we all thought's deep down so i'm not trying to uh settle down right now um focused i don't want to lead any woman off i don't want to lead any woman on you know i don't want to lead any woman on i'm focused i'm hustling hard hard hard and everything i do has a sacrifice on my family if i can't even spend time with my mom or my son or my niece am i gonna now spend time with this woman i met you after 29 years of my life and now she becomes the most important thing just to fit in to everything i've been building up to this day and if she can kind of accept and appreciate it then we can start having a conversation but right now my main principle is my family and my work hundreds of women in the uk have heard that same line over and over and it makes it easier for me because when i meet them they get they they know where i'm coming from they know my story they know my sign got talked i ain't gonna talk anymore they get my story you know to scare you though like you know what i because most times a great man's downfall is always a woman in some way shape or form or the what do they call it every man needs a good a good woman a good woman there's a backbone so i said catch 22 you've got to find the right one i didn't have that high school i did have it but we're not together so uh i'm growing up that's that's the lady i had my son with okay and um yeah so i never really kept that high school sweetheart and i feel like now a relationship to me is more of a political decision because as i said my kids have to be education based and i want them to kind of be leaders in in certain industries so um it's not just about now being young and in love and falling in love because you know i listen to slow jams and my heart's telling me and i'm more like logical logistic with every move i make so the women i choose is more so a political decision to better my family better the kids and so on there's a science to breeding basically there's a massive science of breeding but it gets lost in translation because there's so much other stuff going on in the world that you know it's easy to fall for lust and temptation so what do you like you have your your perfect uh specimen of a woman that you want american women are nice american women black american women white american women american women are you like the sisters yeah my brother i'm gonna shake your hand but it's the sisters are going to be bleeding to hit nope yes don't worry about that yeah stupid yeah yeah yeah definitely definitely the american women are nice you got somebody for them yeah you got your eye on anybody who was that my my birthday sent me one the other day on the ground yeah let me see oh boy phone over the show you might know it she's a model she was at the uh the rock nation launch party the roc nation the brunch lori harvey no not larry harvey she's with memphis oh yeah she was with memphis the player won football i know memphis um the the management team were looking at me like don't get your phone up memphis memphis depay is a a footballer from europe that was laurie harvey that was who laurie harvey was with before trey that's what you're talking about you're talking about no i'm not talking about laurie i'm not talking about that laura is beautiful though lori is beautiful i'm going to have to let the rock nation brunch low-key she's low-key you hit her dm's yet already no i can't do that i can't do that why it gets lost in in in the millions of other ones yeah but you anthony joshua well like you know [Laughter] we appreciate you for joining us i'm listening 200 200 200 right now you ain't even got to close your feet you could do an open just never never never never i got too much respect for you guys as well and you know interview i liked as well when you was debating with killer mike oh killer mike school yes school public school and that's big that you have that problem in the uk um i think it's just what he's based on killer mike is a community situation he's just saying you have to support your own from the grassroots like setting up private schools and stuff that's what i'm speaking to andy about what do we speak about every day oh you got andy yeah i got andy on the team everybody needs a nandy in their life everyone needs a nanny what happened and we're in america [Laughter] that [ __ ] don't run in america you ain't around your boys now but you agree with the community aspect yeah yeah yeah massive massively massive that was a big interview and you learn a lot yeah you learn a lot so i hope you disagree yeah yeah yeah yeah he has a conversation with your points and his points and it was good that's what i speak to him about his private schools but the main thing is as well when you come on this show it's getting your point across and i think one of the main things is my background how i am as a person what i'm doing it and also the situation with heavyweight division i fought a lot of um i thought olympians i fought champions in my space of four years and the situation we find ourselves in now is that i've made big offers um to fight for all the belts to let these guys prove they're the best in the world and seriously when they're ready i'm more than willing to open and negotiate i've learned my mistakes and i hope they've learned from their mistakes so why it didn't happen and then we can reason on how to make it happen for the future do you feel respected as a boxer do you know what right uh yeah i feel respected i was having this debate the other day is um you can't look for it though because i feel like i'll start doing things to kind of cater for people's expectation of what respect is so i feel like uh do i look i think people appreciate you more when you're gone and that's what i say it's not so much about now it's about looking at myself in the mirror when i'm eight years old and saying i made the right decisions doesn't matter what anyone else says it's about what i feel and that's what where i'm going with my career now it's about looking at myself in the mirror saying am i doing the right thing and as long as i'm content i'm good i think that you you and wilder absolutely have to fight each other it's gonna happen because because if y'all don't then everybody's gonna be saying why in order for both of y'all to really be the guy of this generation you'll have to fight each other even more so than the fury and ortiz yeah yeah yeah yeah you all have to fight each other and there's nothing wrong with with him losing it was as as crazy as it sounds like the main thing is that everyone likes a warrior someone who tried and if you can prove that that you're giving it your best they're going to respect you anyway floyd messed up the game with the the undefeated situation yeah everybody wants to look at undefeated game with that but that's why i just say it's good to keep it real like rain sunshine day and night winning and losing it all goes hand in hand it's not about like you may lose today but it may have a lot more meaning down the line of why you went through that situation so there's nothing wrong with losing it happens in life it's just how you bounce back and that's the message that i'm trying to bring to people now is that don't worry as long as you try you ain't gonna lie you're setting it up already so when you lose the ortiz or losers we remember what you just said no because that was the situation i feel like i wouldn't take it so serious if i was already thinking i'm going to lose i wouldn't really dedicate myself to the game i think all right what else can i get out of this game because i'm not going to win anyway but it's not that situation but i just know the reality of life and i'm quite real to myself that if i sleep late i'm going to wake up tired if i eat burgers i'm not going to be able to train properly if i fight the best in the world they've got a puncher's chance if these guys are 18 stone and they land flush on my draw it might not be so i need to kind of work on my defense so it's like derek azor fought dylan the other the other week he got hit with a left hook and he'd been dodging that left hook all training camp and he hit him in the 11th round and knocked him out and it was just one of those situations that he couldn't kind of escape but he bounced back so you just have to be real with yourself because if i'm not real with myself when a situation happens i don't think i'll be able to bounce back because i've lived in fantasy in a fantasy world how important is it to get a knockout versus big baby very yeah that's no doubt you can't go to the decision what round we gonna be looking at you like you crazy i said round eight because there's two hearts for the fight there's three four yesterday yeah i know it's uh that's that's that's height that's right push that's hype that's hype so that was because of the push so realistically there's two sides of the fight there's 12 rounds you split in half that's six six first six second six first six every fighter comes good second six you'll see who they truly are and where their heads at and that's why i think i got a level above and i'll take him out yeah cause i mean it's your first fight in america june 1st madison square garden if you get a decision with big baby we all gonna be looking at you like i'm telling you he's ready for the big dogs this is the situation yeah i'm making it seem like big baby trash okay yeah it's not trash i just if anthony joshua is who people say he is yeah yeah she knock out big babies that's how i need him in my corner okay that's what i need to hear when i'm tired if you are who they say you are you need to come out the new bundini brown well thank you for joining me thank you for having me thank you so much don't be a
