Lamar Valley and Mammoth Hot Springs while we were in Yellowstone a park ranger told us that female oak often go to Mammoth Hot Springs to have their babies this is because they feel safer from large predators interesting fact more outlaws can get huge a typical bull will grow em is that our 55 to 60 inches long and weigh about 30 pounds per beer they are just under six feet wide that's almost as long as a twin size [Music] proper diet sagebrush and shrubs lifespan seven to ten years wait about 90 to 125 pounds pronghorn can be found in the more Valley during the summer and between the north entrance and Reese Creek during the winter they established groups in order to protect themselves against predators when a pronghorn detects danger it flows the white patch on its behind this lets the others know that they should run interesting fact pronghorn are the second fastest land mammals in the world the fastest is the cheetah pronghorn can spread up to 50 miles per hour their quick speed and the sharper vision often allows them to outrun their predators mule deer diet shrubs grasses and conifers lifespan 9 to 11 years wait about 100 pounds to 250 pounds milder are frequently seen throughout the park during the summer months because they migrate in winter they're called changes with the seasons and summer you will see that they have a reddish colored coat and enter their fur up to ten feet wide but heroes can have a wingspan of six feet black bear diet rodents insects trout and vegetation lifespan 15 to 30 years weight about 130 to 315 pounds we were very fortunate to see several black bears while we were in Yellowstone one of our favorite sightings was of this smaller bear with her three bear cubs the best places to spot black bears are in the tower and mammoth areas even though they are called black bears only about 50% of the bears are actually black the rest are shades of brown [Music] interesting fact when mother bears have their cubs they give birth to them in a den usually in the winter while they are still hibernating the Cubs will stay in the den with their mother until the spring and drink her milk while she sleeps [Music] sadly and are early to mid 1900s yellowstone park managers allowed visitors to feed black bears because of this they started to enjoy human food and would often do bad things to get it including destroying people's property in even injuring people these bears would then have to be put down this is why it is very important to never feed the Bears in Yellowstone here are some other animals we saw briefly in the park but this badger is carrying its prey their diet consists of mostly rodents coyote a common predator in Yellowstone great horned owl this great horned owl nest was an exciting site for visitors of Mammoth Hot Springs wolves although there are far away we were so lucky to catch a glimpse of the junction view wolf pack they had a ten year slow Creek with young puppies drear Carter I'm gonna look at the
