well ei you don't get up again with my favorite franchise this time which you've done before with battlefield hardline but now it's the mainline Battlefield series news stories are coming out all over the place right now analysts report Battlefield fives preorder sales are weak they are weak you know Joe I am I think I'm somewhat in this same position you are and I think a lot of us feel the same way I'm a big fan of battlefield and I have been for a long time ever since I played bad company years ago and I was a much smaller doggo than I am now ever since then I've been a huge fan of this series but I find myself at a bit of a crossroads and how I should feel at this news should I feel sad because the series that I have loved in the past is looking like it could have a real stinker on its hands I don't want the series to die or should I feel happy that EA is perhaps about to suffer a big loss I don't think anyone's gonna shed it's here at EA going in the red for a bit should I rejoice at the idea that consumers have indeed affected real change and displayed their frustration and disinterest at the at the at the attitude that the publisher and developers gave to them maybe I should smile at the notion that this is a win for consumers over a corporation what a thought that is but I tend to side with consumers first Joe and I try not to let my personal attachment to a series get in the way of that and I certainly don't try and let my personal feelings about ideology or politics get in front of how I feel in terms of where the consumer stand either I love battlefield 2 Joe but if battlefield fans have to have a bad year or a poor release because of how the developers and EA have acted and because they decided that they try and sell a narrative and push it despite all the backlash that they got then I think that's a price I can accept there will always be other games that take battlefields place Joe so put a smile on your face and feel happy Joe that the consumers are pushing back against the corporation that you so often have lambasted and castigated corporations whom you have spent so much time in the past calling out and ridiculing battlefield fives so far lower below black ops for Red Dead Redemption to this outlet here pre-orders are reportedly very weak well I think one angry gamer gets it wrong here they never said very weak you're throwing that word in there and that's not correct they said that it's just lower so what is weak is weak a hundred million less is it five hundred how much dollars is it less one hundred million dollars less fifty million dollars less we don't really know but we do know that the pre-order sales are lower in comparison to Call of Duty and to Red Dead Redemption to Joe the UM the pre-order numbers for Battlefield 5 they're not just bad they're fucking terrible they're they're shockingly horrendous they are lagging behind Call of Duty Black Ops for buy more than 85% I mean that in and of itself is crazy hard to fathom that this would be the case right but let's consider that this is a complete reversal in the opposite direction of the trend that battlefield has been fighting for years and years to get over Call of Duty battlefield 3 in battlefield 4 they lagged behind the Call of Duty's that they were up against by about twenty to forty percent right in terms of pre-orders in battlefield one the last battlefield game that came out and went toe-to-toe with a Call of Duty game was actually ahead at this point before lunch in terms of pre-orders so as years went by battlefield was on that upward trend to beat Call of Duty if you're measuring the pre-order numbers and then in one fell swoop not only has battlefield managed to lose a lead that they have fought for years in order to get over there arguably biggest piece of competition but they have nosedived in the opposite direction Joe honestly I'd say calling them very weak is doing them a service to be fair to Joe we didn't know exactly how far they lagged behind but it was universally being reported on that things were not looking good at all for battlefield fives numbers EA's flagship shooter now why why is this happening well if you listen to YouTube and certain channels on YouTube I watched four videos in a row just now because you know I care about the battlefield 5 franchise and it sucks to watch this video because they're celebrating they are celebrating the destruction in the lower sales of the battlefield 5 franchise do to those gog and liberals and those social warriors putting women in battlefield and it's a shame that we live in a world where liberals and sjws are equated maybe if the left didn't co-opt that name we wouldn't be having this issue but you want to know why people are happy and you want to know why I'm mostly happy because a lot of people can put fans of a franchise ahead of the franchise we saw this with Star Wars happening I loved Star Wars once upon a time but I don't anymore and I can still enjoy all the wonderful memories that I had of it before it was ruined you know Joe maybe battlefield would turn out to be the same way maybe battlefield 5 will be the start of a downward trend maybe battlefield 5 will suck maybe it'll be fine maybe it'll be good maybe it'll be great but if battlefield isn't good and if the people behind the game treat their consumers in a certain way then fan or not you should be able to walk away you should be able to say I'm moving on to something else if you love something and it doesn't love you back then you need to know how to walk away those channels that you watched they're probably ready to walk away from battlefield because it's just a series they're just games don't let nostalgia turn into emotional investment to the point where you can't let it go and the people that I've listened to talk about the issue they're happy that the consumers voice is being heard first and foremost which should make you happy Joe right as a pro consumer advocate the reason why to them that battlefield 5 is having lower prio because there are women on the box there are women featured prominently in the trailers and there are women in multiplayer yeah I mean I think it would be pretty tough to deny that that's a pretty big stickler for a lot of people including myself this is a world war two game or at least but we're being led to believe as a world war two game the prominence of women on the front lines and the prosthetic arms and the katanas and things it's really kind of off-putting for a lot of people who want some semblance of historical accuracy or some level of immersion with a world war ii shooter the cyborg women on the front lines is really just the most obvious example of that so it's gonna be what people point to and they're not gonna spend a goddamn time of their $60 on on women being in World War two because that insults their great-grandfather were fought of World War two battlefield one at this point in time Joe had a higher pre-order numbers than the Call of Duty competitor it was going up against that year and remember battlefield one remember what the cover art was for battlefield one Joe it was this gentleman it was a black guy oh fucking shit but people were okay with it you see it was justified there was a reason why he was there he was part of the Harlem Hellfighters not only that but the game before lunch right we knew about this young lady who was the character that you played as in the campaign level nothing is written for battlefield one even after battlefield one was released and established the DLC content in the name of the Czar added the Russian faction to the game and the Recon class for the Russian faction used a female player model because it made some semblance of sense people were fine with it they bought the game they pre-ordered the game they played the game people were perfectly fine with black men and women in the game if it was presented in an appropriate fashion one that made sense people supported these game pretty openly to the point where the pre-orders were bigger for that game than they were for call of duty it's a strange opening argument that this is something that is being said and mass against the idea of women in battlefield 5 that it insults their relatives who fought in the war maybe because it is trying to downplay the involvement that men have in the war on the frontlines which is 99 plus percent of the casualties and those who gave their lives in that conflict and I suppose if you looked at this from the identitarian lens of men versus women they would see this as trying to take away something that men as a collective on the battlefield that quote unquote earned again I'm trying to just see it from Joe's point of view here though I haven't seen this used as a widespread argument which is odd considering if Joe opened his video saying that he had watched four different videos about battlefield 5 then he would have already known the issues that were the predominant arguments against this being used for the game no women in World War two in my fiction of world war ii well the thing is that world war ii wasn't fiction and if you're going to set a game in that time period and in this conflict then there needs to be a justifiable reason why you make the design choices the way that you make them and honestly I don't think that's really an unusual or unreasonable thing that people want from their games ha ha ha T a victory for not my battlefield hashtag Magga red hats victory for against social justice warriors but is it really that very interesting how you brought up the mag of red hats I guess you're lumping in the people who had issues with battlefield 5 is Trump supporters and maybe that's not the best to move that you could make Joe maybe that right there is one of the biggest problems that people had with this video that you made the the ease at which you were able to instantly label this huge group based off of one thing how you were able to take that guru and label him as ex but we'll get back to that in a moment let's let's look at the comments he highlighted if you buy this game you're giving ideas to EA for releasing more sjw titles in the future and that would be correct the inclusion of disabled women on the front lines of world war ii which remember that used to be a mean joe that used to be a mean that people laughed at on the internet that they're gonna start putting disabled women on the front lines but that's what they actually did that is definitely a social justice influence that has crept maybe not crept creeping implies some subtlety this was an extremely obvious and in-your-face way to push the idea of inclusion and diversity into a setting where it has no business being or would require some real justification to have it depicted and social justice does not sell video games it kills them it hurts sales it is bad marketing Anita sarkeesian made the big push for a female playable character in Dishonored 2 and that game is on the back burner now that series is on the shelf Wolfenstein 2 ran on the ads of make America not see free again and ran off of the punch Nazis phase that losers were spouting and that game sold very poorly those are just two recent examples I'll leave those there force diversity inclusion all that social justice nonsense it does not make games better it hurts sales and people who care about battlefield when they see that being pushed into their series they know what's on the horizon if it continues and they don't want to see that they want to cut this stuff out now before it gets worse before the infection spreads the second comment says now he can explain to his daughter why he has to sell the house in car this is a this is a reference to old Peter soderlund who is no longer at the company I might add very strange timing that he that the pre-order numbers and him leaving are so close it's very interesting Aaron's comment here is for those of you who don't know a reference to Peter soderlund saying in a gamasutra interview during e3 I have a 13 year old daughter that when the trailer came out and she saw all the flack she asked me dad why is this happening she plays fortnight and says I can be a girl in fortnight why are people so upset about this I just said you know what you're right this is not okay after that patrick said these are people who are uneducated they don't understand that this is a plausible scenario wow what a woke 13 year old I'm sure that conversation really happened to Patrick in any event this is also one of the examples people point to predominantly as how dismissive and disrespectful that the company's being towards its consumers and their valid criticisms next comment I'm waiting for the LGBT expansion I mean I don't know why you'd be against that after all it's so diverse so inclusive think about all of the lesbians who fought on the front lines of World War two I mean it's plausible right and why would you deny a brave frontline female warrior her sexuality and the fourth comment ei will never learn their lesson liberal company too dumb to realize what the consumers really want again this is them this is EI strangely putting some kind of an ideological push some kind of a narrative in front of what does the audience want from us because there used to be a time you know when when people expected that companies would try and make products that their consumers that they had built up would want now Joe I assume that these comments of yours that you're highlighting are coming from the battlefield official reveal trailer though the one on the official battlefield Channel yeah when that was released of course there was a big controversy around it a lot of people didn't like it and you can go there now in I had to to get this image you're seeing at the moment and they look through the comments and they're the same that they have been and the like to dislike ratio has been getting worse and worse for a lot of people this was their first impression of battlefield 5 and they did not like it and a lot of those people are citing the reason they didn't like it is because of the cyborg women in the katanas it was a failure of the of the commercial which is what these are to immerse the player to give the sense of immersion I'm not gonna go too deep into that however I will highly recommend that you go check out the video that I made at the time because it really excellently I think explains why people feel the way that they do in the primary arguments that are being made for white people myself included did not like this trailer about enough Tooting my own horn let's head back and see what Angry Joe's doing is those segments of people who don't want women in there who don't who want to extremely historically accurate World War two experience in battlefield 5 is is that really what translates into the most lost revenue I don't know maybe let's let's look at it so this is a question that we probably won't be able to know for certain unless EA I don't know maybe has some metadata that they would want to share publicly though I seriously doubt that EA would want to do that I don't think that there's a snowball's chance in hell that EA is gonna come out and say yeah turns out the social justice stuff that's what killed our game so we're never doing that again I mean that would be a smart thing to do a wise thing to do but I don't I don't think they're gonna ever do that however in the meantime we can speculate and we can take educated guesses we can't probably know for certain but we can look at the reception to the trailer we can look at what all the popular comments are we can look at look at youtubers online with big voices to see what they're saying we can go to the articles across the internet and look at what the comments are there see what people are up voting and agreeing with seeing what the top comments are there are ways for us to kind of figure out what are the issues that are popping into the forefront and I think that based on all of that it is a very reasonable and justifiable thing to believe that social justice warriors and their influence are seriously damaging battlefield sales is it the only reason no it is not the only reason a lot of people will cite their are too many iconic women video game characters and too many female game characters that sell well for this to be just about women gamers don't have a problem with women in video games either playing them or as in-game characters people do care about force diversity and this is a theme that I have found is extremely common in common threads and in opinions all across the internet and all across different websites that talk about this topic they say that this at the evidence is this EA basically shit on the community which they do all the time and they deserve sometimes to get some backlash well this time they did that that they did that this time Joe yeah they've done it in the past they also did it now they openly came out and said accept it or don't buy it and it looks like people are choosing to now buy it they said here's the backlash on women accept it or don't buy the game so they are laughing their asses off at these guys who said if you don't like women in battlefield 5 don't buy it and now they are cheering the fact that there are lower pre-orders and that pre-orders are weak yes they are cheering because EA decided to take a gamble against what the community wanted and EA looks like they are losing that gamble and you more than anybody else Joe I would expect to side with the consumers over the company but when it comes to social justice well maybe Joe can make an exception all of a sudden maybe EA should succeed very strange and and then they also draw parallel to chief design officer Patrick Sutherland leaving the company they saying well the pre-orders have been week so that must be why this guy got let go they didn't want him there anymore in fact he was the nude he was the chief design officer over 12 years so I actually here we can both agree on something we can make this crossover that I'm glad this guy is fucking gone okay because he was terrible this is the guy that that man that saw how much money was being made in madden ultimate team and fifa ultimate team just over eight six hundred million eight hundred million dollars annually yearly and then he said let's go to our other games let's go to battlefield let's go to star wars battlefront let's do need for speed all of our games and eject micro transactions into that shit to no and it blew up in his face with the Star Wars community said fuck off and the Star Wars community rallied and got Disney involved and and really upset things now this could be him leaving could be blowback from that he and trust me I've seen people on those four videos I watched like all this guy's going broke he's got to explain to his wife selling his housing car again it's impossible for us to say because you didn't show which videos you watched but I don't know enough about the reasons why he left to really really say for certain though I would not be surprised if this was if EA knew about the pre-orders for battlefield 5 before they were made public which of course they did it's just a matter of what that time difference was and if that maybe was to him signaling some kind of a writing on the wall that he needed to leave or try something else I don't know and I don't think any of us really know at this time what the real reason is they might be linked they might not be linked I'm not certain and I think anyone's saying that it is definitely a reason I don't think that they're justified in saying that but all in all it is nice to have this moment of lucidity from Joe where he's you know the anti corporate guy standing up for consumers it's it's refreshing to see that in this video I didn't think we'd get that that's actually not true this guide made millions dollars while he was there and it may be that he's not leaving the company because of what you think he is leaving the company and again I don't know who is this you you're talking about if you're referring to a video if you're referring to somebody in particular I'm not certain but I haven't really seen a huge connection being drawn though I think it's I think it's reasonable to say there might be one I think it would be unreasonable to rule it out if you do a little bit more research here you'll see that the publisher really wanted him to stay they gave him a 20 million dollar bonus to this guy why well back in June that is so recent they said they paid him a twenty million dollar bonus for partly for the purpose of supporting a longer term retention of this guy and he said now that piece out you know this is my I'm taking the money and I'm leaving is he gonna go make more money somewhere else that's a possibility nobody knows what's next for him or why exactly he left but conservatives on YouTube will tell you that the reason why he left is because there is lower pre-orders because of you know the the women in battlefield 5 and because they said accept it or don't buy it and people actually went out and did ok Joe um what the fuck do conservatives have to do with this can you are there any it's like what what a fucking random ass thing to bring up conservatives think that this is the reason why Patrick soderlund left you are can you point me to an example of these conservatives who think that or if you think that way does that make you a conservative why this sounds to me like you're just trying to paint conservatives as this group that I think is wrong or this group I think is wrong must be conservative or I'm gonna call this group that I think is wrong about this thing conservative when there's really no reason to overlap the two groups whatsoever I don't think it's unreasonable to want to draw a conclusion as to if there's a link between these two things happening does that make me a conservative Joe but to just label people think there's a link between battlefield fives horrendous pre-order numbers which again ei knew about before we did and Patrick soderlund wanting to leave the company to just label all those people as conservative is just you trying to tarnish that side and I'm not even a conservative I'm not a leftist either I'm closer to the middle than either of those two things but this is one of the reasons one of the big reasons why people have such a problem with your video and why if you go to that video you'll notice that more people don't like it than like it which is honestly an impressive feat for a channel your size a man who's built an audience off of not just his reviews but as a as a person with personality and character interestingly enough the top comment on your video is you don't have to be a conservative to disagree with EA's practices very odd coming from you Joe somebody who has made their name practically trashing EA's practices labeling entire groups as something based off of one opinion that they hold a lot of the times that's what social justice warriors do often with absolutely zero link at all between the two things oh you voted for Trump you're a fascist or you're an autocrat or what's that you didn't think that Alex Jones should be banned you must be you white supremacists silly stuff like that there was absolutely no reason for you to throw conservatives under the bus here but that seems to be something that you've done in the past as well Joe you haven't exactly made it a secret how you've thought of Trump voters in the past tell you I'm sure the exit polls and you can you can you know refute me if you want but I guarantee you the majority of people that voted for Trump are uneducated I know that's I go Joe your that's fucked up to say no no that's actually the fact and and if you want to show me proof otherwise you won't find it I guarantee you the uneducated voted for Trump and and and in today's America the word intellectual is a bad thing and this is what it results in we get it Joe Trump voters are uneducated just like all those uneducated people didn't buy battlefield 5 I mean really who wouldn't make the comparison right am i an angry upset uneducated Magga hat-wearing conservative there are legitimate reasons that people have to be concerned about sjw's taking over entertainment that they enjoy and just saying oh they wear Magga hats or oh they're conservatives it's not an honest way to characterize them and you're seeing why people don't like it and if you read your comment section and look at the biggest comments there you'll understand why but is that the real reason I mean objectively or is it closer to this you're putting battlefield 5 in between one of the biggest Call of Duty's and the biggest video game released this year from a little-known developer a little-known game you know from a small indie publisher called uh you know Rockstar I don't think many people buy their games it's not like it's a Grand Theft Auto six essentially no no no it couldn't be that it couldn't be that you know October is notoriously such a filled month that I call it broke Tober and I can't freakin possibly be review every single freaking game in October and that it's sandwiched in between two of the biggest releases not to mention all the other games that come out around the same time now it couldn't be that so the attitude here isn't really helping your case Joe especially because and nobody is going to deny that Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't going to in some way affect the sales of other games released around it you also though have to remember that at this time the last time Call of Duty and Battlefield squared off with battlefield ones release they were ahead of Call of Duty in terms of pre-orders and that seems to have flipped on its head nobody is going to say that there isn't some potential loss and pre-orders because of other games coming out but remember battlefield 5 didn't lose some pre-orders it didn't even lose a lot of pre-orders it lost a Titanic massive amount of pre-orders to games that it was previously beating out so what makes this year different than the other year it couldn't be that this battlefield 5 is the most poorly marketed battlefield I've ever seen in my history of following the Battlefield franchise and you guys know how much I love battlefield it was awful it's very interesting Joe that let you see it in this perspective because you're taking the very very bad marketing about this game and you're removing it as a separate issue from the SJW stuff that people are consistently complaining about because remember that was on the forefront of everybody's mind during the reveal and when it comes to marketing now I'm I'm no fancy college boy with a degree but if there's anything I do know it's that first impressions matter when you even title this video mockingly I'll be it but you titled this video you know it's cuz women and sjw's well that is inextricably linked to the marketing because that is how people see this game I mean yeah there was a three-hour closed door behind the door session for influencers press what do they call it game changers outlets it was fucking amazing three hours of detailed information they showed the gifts and animation breakdowns and just and I was like please just release this to everybody instead no they did the shitty Trevor Noah presentation which was fucking awful it really didn't give you the details it really didn't show off the game was more concerned about mimicking The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on there in like a news report program with awful transitions in comparison Call of Duty had a great show on stage even though they're ripping out features you know people agree with that absolutely Joe yes people absolutely agree this was a very very bad marketing decision and it doesn't help that one of the reasons that people hate this game so much is because of the social justice warrior influences you know the diversity and all that and what they do is they get Trevor Noah who's a huge lefty to do this talk with the developers that definitely doesn't send any positive messages and ultimately that's what a lot of people want to see his game play and I agree it was a very poor decision for them to not release gameplay to quiet down all of the issues that people took they just said oh we have some footage out there and certain people played them but we're not going to talk about it and we're not going to show it and that was a very bad move in terms of marketing absolutely but again Joe nobody's denying that even even conservatives and you would think so you've got Call of I mean yours and your ei is essentially pulling another titanfall 2 only this time they're fucking up one of their mainline franchises battlefield 5 they're jamming in the middle of the biggest Call of Duty right and one of the biggest releases of the year and this is why in my opinion preorder sales are lower now I don't quite follow why you say this is the biggest Call of Duty I'd be interested to see how you got that information to a degree we can go by VG charts but that only tracks physical additions not digital editions and in this day and age that's such a huge part of the total number who knows but we knew back in March that at the time pre-orders were ahead of what Call of Duty World War 2 was from last year that's not to say you're wrong at all whenever you have a game especially one that's being looked forward to so much as Red Dead Redemption 2 and of course this year's Call of Duty yes they will leech off each other to some degree though a lot of these games were announced quite a while ago I don't think it's fair to say that most gamers will only buy one or they can only buy one but let's be conservative with our estimates and I know how much you hate conservatives apparently but let's just say that people could only buy one of these three granted Red Dead Redemption 2 especially will probably take away from some of the pre-orders from battlefield 5 I do think that there is probably an overlap of people who are interested in both however is it enough to justify the fact that there's 85% less battlefield 5 pre-orders than call of duty black ops 4 I don't think that's enough I don't think just placing this on the fact it's between these two games is enough to arrive at that conclusion especially when you take all of the other factors into account even though you don't seem to think that those were the biggest ones okay the people that play Call of Duty man they've really done activision has really done their research I thought that this year maybe some Call of Duty people would come over to Battlefield 5 well if somebody was halfway tied between battlefield 5 and Call of Duty Black Ops for the shooter game that they were gonna play for a while and with all other things being equal in terms of their interest add on top of that how the company has been speaking to its potential consumers and I think that is gonna tip the scale for a lot of people people like me I don't want to buy battlefield 5 just on principle does my attitude reflect the attitude of most gamers out there especially the very casual Call of Duty couch bro sort that does exist I don't know what I do know though is that it seems like everywhere I go every article that I read every place that I look around that that has battlefield 5 information that sentiment keeps popping up everywhere I look for it again this is purely anecdotal and I understand that but the amount of times that I've heard battlefield 5 just looks too close to the last game and I just don't really like what the gameplay was those comments definitely pale in comparison to the number of people who cite EA's disrespect or the way that they've been making design decisions for Battlefield 5 because they realize they're getting less from know more but no all they had to do was double the amount of zombie modes and add Battle Royale even though they probably fucked up develop it really hard and they were there scrambling they couldn't they had to pull out single-player and and this was the year that I thought battlefield 5 would probably crush Call of Duty but it's not happening they know their audience Call of Duty people don't come over to Battlefield 5 I think it's very possible that in terms of Call of Duty's development and Call of Duty's marketing that what they're doing is they're just putting stuff out there that people like to hear and I think that the vast majority of people who were going to buy a Call of Duty game are not going to be as intensely concerned about perhaps an expansion on the mechanics as they are going to be regular repeat purchasers they have a casual interest in Call of Duty it's what they play it's what their friends play it's the game that they sit down to and can enjoy in bite sized egg ments over a long period of time but similarly if those same people if they get their news in a well if they're not like you and I who maybe look at the news more in depth and they just sort of casually skim it what they're going to see first and foremost is going to be the controversy of the battlefield 5 design and everybody talking about how disrespectful the company was treating them the consumers in any case and then they won't really dive any further than that they'll just say oh well I've made up my mind this year Call of Duty it is it's not a hill I'm gonna die on that's just speculation I just think that if you get your news in a very casual and at-a-glance format from Call of Duty you're not gonna see a controversy but from the battlefield 5 side you will see a controversy and that will affect a lot of people's decisions or at least perhaps it will again just a theory the game feet no we're not we're not gonna do that and with all these games coming out these three plus those other major releases plus I'm not even counting indie releases people all can't buy that many games per month I didn't really know the numbers myself for this so I decided I'd ask a poll on Twitter and see what people thought so take that with all the appropriate grains of saying that you can but I asked how many new video games do you buy per year new are relatively new releases generally at full price console or PC if you aren't sure refrain from answering be honest and retweet so I can get the biggest poll size the majority of people 73% said either no new games two five twenty percent said six new games two twelve new games and seven percent said twelve or more new games a year you also have to take into consideration how people plan maybe they know a certain amount of games they are gonna want in the future and so they budget for that or they don't buy a game now that they can buy to in October or later in the year when Christmas season is coming I think it's reasonable to say that there will be enough people who will want to budget that they might have to seriously make a choice between the three how much I can't say I don't know if anybody can say for certain but I think it's reasonable to make that assumption you're thinking the average you know students whether they're in high school or college as maybe 60 bucks maybe two games in a maybe if you're working really hard and you're doing other things so what's that gonna be 60 bucks that's gonna be that's gonna be you know Red Dead Redemption at least if I only bought one game it's gonna be Red Dead Redemption - all right so and I'm thinking that it combined so you've got those reasons and again Joe I agree I think those probably have something to do with the numbers but I don't think that it represents the largest real change between this release and Battlefield ones release is it because of you know the social justice warrior Chad gotta try to put women in our games and they're trying to make us feel for for females and have better representation in games how dare they the way that you talk about this is very telling as to where you stand and that's fine it's just very obvious and the way that you phrase it here it shows that you have I think a lack of understanding with the real concerns that a lot of people have I think the problem that you have Joe is you look at this from the perspective of oh they just don't want women as if that's the end of the argument and there's no nuance and there's no gray area and there's no justification for it like we don't have real reasons like we just hate women and you're a video gamer Joe you know that gamers we obviously don't hate women we certainly don't like to not see women in games there are plenty of female protagonists and there are plenty of gamers who will choose a female option if we're given the choice reducing this down like you want to do - just angry gamers angry men don't want to see women in video games it's a disingenuous way to phrase what we have been saying and when you say it like that in the manner that you say it it makes me wonder if you're telling the truth when you say I watch these four videos then you should know what our real problems are this is why people like Jeremy called you out for straw Manning this is the biggest problem that people have with the way that you're categorizing this issue Joe we're not saying it's only so justice but I think that we're extremely justified in saying that that plays a big role in why battlefield 5 is looking not so hot right now this should be historically accurate no women is that really the reason no I think in yeah that maybe people will that there are people out there like I'm not gonna give you $60 of my body until you take those women out Joe that's not the problem that we have again and like I said at the beginning the last battlefield game that came out had women in the single-player and people played it and people bought it people pre-ordered it it had women in the multiplayer DLC but it made sense there was a black guy on the cover but it made sense they had to stretch history a little bit maybe but within an acceptable boundary but what they're showing with battlefield 5 goes leaps and bounds past that people by World War two games to feel like they're playing a game set in world war two so when you put a woman with the blue face paint and the prosthetic arm on the front lines of the British Army and you got people with katanas then yeah people are gonna have issues and the disabled woman on the front lines of the World War two game is just the most obvious thing that was presented so it's the first thing people go to if there were samurai in this game walking around in feudal Japanese armor with long bows and naginata 'z then people would have the same issue would you frame it as gamers hate Asians when you characterize the people who have these legitimate complaints it's just a bunch of angry male gamers who don't like women it makes them upset because it's a personal attack against them and Joe look I it's not something that you do to people it's certainly not something you do to a whole group of people if you do there's gonna be a backlash to it especially if it is as poorly presented as it is by you here on this video when I watch this video from you Joe there there's no there's no feeling that you're trying to understand or that you want to understand you have an impression in your mind and you're running with it until you do tomorrow historically accurate in your fictional stories but world war ii wasn't fiction it's supposed to be inspired by an actual event for which we have historical precedent that should be followed I'm not saying 100% and there can be no creative decisions made but there are limits to what people will accept and what people will find is too far and if you're not gonna stay within the boundaries of believability and immersion when you're making a game that's based off of a historical event then why bother basing it off of that historical event at all maybe if they said this was an alternative world war two or something like that then people would be more open to it but that's not what we were sold people want a world war two game with a sense of authenticity to it and that is far from what they got there in the trailers there's been women and and then one of the war stories is gonna feature a fictional story of a woman of female resistance fighter rah rah rah I will not pay you $60 to all that's out in battlefield six I better see no women that I'll give you my money do I think there are people like that yes unfortunately I do imagine that you didn't like the battlefield 5 trailer when it was released and because you had the feeling that a disabled one-armed woman on the frontlines of World War 2 battles was just it you couldn't immerse yourself in and it was just too unrealistic and it was way out there and so you said you know what I I just can't get behind this game and you let's say that you also like Angry Joe you think he's a nice guy you like his reviews you look up to him and then he characterizes you as this but I don't give a shit you know we've had World War two before so when they come back to World War two I was hoping for an alternate take and they did one yeah they they sure did but I think the reason is this one looks more like call of duty this battlefield looks more like call of duty than ever before with these loud crazy ass trailers that make it look like all the duty set pieces and the sort of bernetta arms or robotic arms or whatever yeah joe people would have a problem with that if it was on a man or a woman they're doing this crazy customization thing if you're gonna do alternate World War history like that you could have gone real alternate World War two and that would have been crazy like Nazi invasion of the United States Nazis invading America huh oh I could have sworn there was I could have sworn that there was a game in recent memory about Nazis invading America but it had this big political push in it and there was a social justice stuff and it was super diverse and super woke and I just I remember the sales were really not at all that good man why what's the name of it I forget in any event if you wanted an alternate World War two history game that would have been fine but that's not what they marketed this game as that's not what people wanted that's not what people were excited for that's not what people were expecting some you know maybe other countries getting involved or the fight being a lot bigger in Africa or Australia who knows you know or in the Pacific it could have been crazy but no you're going this direction so I think that do I think there's lost sales over the whole politicized thing right verse left and right you know being happy that that you know the the Swedish developers over there at dice or are eating their words yeah I think a small bit of it this isn't really a right first left thing it's a social justice warrior versus anti social justice warrior thing its consumers who want something and a developer and publisher who are trying to force something else down their throats it's about people who are against forced inclusion and forced diversity and the quotas and all this the feminist stuff it's about them versus the people who do want it it's not about right versus left now most social justice warriors would categorize themselves as left though I would say they are far left and I would say most anti sjw's would be not far left sure some of them might be on the right but a lot of them are also on the left a lot of them are really close to the middle people like myself Sargon Tim Poole he's on he's an anti hgw he's on the way but just calling it a left versus right thing it's just that's not how it is people you know they're people are trying to let lead you astray a drama whore and say this see this is why you should feel good it's more you know fuck ei and those people are like a fuck ei it's not fucking because women and because social justice were is fucking because they tried to fuck me over that's what I think it is but maybe I'm wrong so yeah a few of you may celebrate this this bad news for Battlefield but I'm not I'm certainly not celebrating well some people put the consumers first some people I guess they don't I don't like I don't like pre-ordering anyway unless the unless it's like I'm damn sure it's gonna be the damn good game and I was really close with battlefield 5 but you know and here's another reason I don't think that battlefield 5 has had an open beta yet I could be wrong I know I've played it because I got a key from my business management group I think those latest ones have been closed alphas and I think a lot of pre-orders come in when people actually get their hands on it and they play the new modes and they play the the new feel of it no okay well yeah let me put it down to prove oh I just I hate to see this happen because I thought this year the battlefield 5 franchise would do really well well Jim that's what happens when you get woke I don't think it has to do with the fact that this controversy non controversy of women being included Joe we both know that there was a controversy we both know that there was absolutely a controversy around the woman in the prosthetic arm and the katana hell look at this this was just posted by battlefield battlefield 5 official the company trailer 50,000 up 25,000 down they don't give a fuck they're just steamrolling ahead yeah just cuz it's a world war 2 game that doesn't mean that you can't play is one of the the legions of asian and black women who fought on the front lines some of them aren't even disabled of course there is a controversy go to the comments section of any these videos and you'll see what people have on their minds Joe to call it a non controversy does not make it so as much as you like to think that as much as you would love for this to not really be a thing that it's just some fringe group out there that doesn't like it that's just not the case Joe but who knows maybe I'm wrong you guys give me your opinion do you think it is 100 percent because there's women in it or do you think it has to do with more those other things that we talked about let me know guys okay well I I already know that you made a response to this it didn't really change much so I didn't bother going through it and you check it out for yourself if you'd like what I do know though is that you're not gonna take all the feedback that you got to heart yeah you're not gonna do that now I guess that's just not something that angry Joe does I was hoping that there would be some understanding that maybe that's just too much for me to hope for now he goes on for a little bit more in this video of his nothing that he hadn't said already but I want to wrap it up with some final thoughts here so I'll probably go over his response maybe not in extreme detail but I might go over it because he did make a follow-up to this it's not a very good one in fact it's a terrible one but I don't want to retread the same thing over and over maybe I'll do it on my second channel not certain yet haven't quite decided there are some other projects that I'd like to get to one that I was working on and then I tried to hurry through this video here but what's a good takeaway for this video an angry Joe so angry Joe's video was really poorly received which is no surprise to me we're still seeing this to this day we see it an angry Joe here and a very brazen an outward kind of display this idea that people who didn't like the battlefield 5 trailer and who have issues with the women on the front lines and the proudest Enic arms and now battlefield has doubled down with black women and Asian women which is odd because there was a point where people tried to make the justification oh yeah it was possible it was plausible and it wasn't back then but that's what they told themselves and now it's just the whole is just getting dug deeper and I mentioned this in my other battlefield 5 video I said it seems to me that the people on the other side are very quick to label those who didn't like the battlefield 5 trailer as X Y & Z in Joe's case it was Magha hat-wearing conservatives they were angry and they didn't want to see women in video games even though we have precedent that that's not true people were disappointed with Angry Joe because especially if you come to somebody who makes video game reviews and that's kind of what they're known for you would expect for them to have some kind of a a critical eye to look at this from a lens where they might want to investigate into what the other side is saying but that doesn't seem to be what Joe has wanted to do or as attempted to do and as a result as mischaracterizations are costing him because people don't like to be called those things people don't like to be labeled and cast as certain things when they know it's not true I hope there's a point in time where maybe Joe really takes all this stuff to heart and he sees that he didn't really take the right the right approach to this one because there wouldn't have been anything wrong with him coming out and saying I don't think it's the SJW stuff that really should be to blame here I think he'd be wrong I think I could argue against that but he wouldn't have to have been a disrespectful asshole about it just a little food for thought though if you liked what you saw in this video and want to follow me on Twitter and please do so links and all that or down below you can support me on patreon if you really
