The 3 things that impress me most about the iPhone 15 Pro Max are probably the 5x zoom lens, the Action Button, and last but not least, the possibility of connecting with the USB-C port. So, if you are watching this clip because you are considering getting the iPhone 15 Pro Max, please think about the three things I just mentioned, which are the distinctive features of this model. Are they what you're looking for? If so, I'd recommend it. But if that's not the case, then the iPhone 15 Pro Max may not be what you're looking for yet. Hello, I moved from iPhone 14 Pro to 15 Pro Max over 3 months ago. There are things I like and things that I don't like much. Let's talk about it. What I really like and think is the most impressive feature of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and can be considered as a highlight is the telephoto lens. Or also known as a 5x lens or a a 120 mm lens, which is a lens that Apple provides only in the Pro Max model.
It's a marketing strategy that tricks customers like us take out the money and buy the top model.
The strength of this lens is that the zooming range is far. But personally, I think this lens will show its biggest potential when we use it in the Portrait mode. If we place the thing we want to focus and keep an appropriate distance from a beautiful background, the background will dissolve very beautifully. Especially when we play with various lights, giving us the bokeh effect, which is very nice. In addition, later versions of iOS have been designed for us to be able to adjust it retrospectively: How clear do you want the background to be? Or how blurry you'd like to have. So, a hobbyist photography like me decided to sell the DSLR that I bought and kept for a long time and haven't used. I sold it because I felt that When I have a phone that can do this much,
I might not need to carry a big camera around anymore. Another thing, if we talk about the overall camera of the iPhone,
besides taking beautiful photos, the video is no different. For example, what you're all watching is a 4K 60fps video that was shot on an iPhone Pro Max.
This is why you can't see it in my hands right now. By the way, the lighting and colors are just as cool. Just like the final product everyone is watching right now, there's just a little bit of lighting adjustment
via the Photos app after filming. I have never used any color grading program in my videos. Another thing that I really like is the Action Button. Because it brings so much potential.
Even though when newly launched, whether in Apple advertisements or in demonstrations,
it seemed like this button does only one job. For example, press and hold to mute the sound. Or press and hold to enter camera mode But actually, if we bind the Action button to a set of commands in Shortcuts, then a single button can do many things. For example, we can let the phone carry out a certain action depending on the direction of the mobile phone we hold. For example, if I hold the mobile phone vertically and press the button, it will activate the scan to pay function of a banking application. But if I hold the phone horizontally and then press and hold, the orientation lock will be enabled or disabled. Practical when you read a book and open a PDF file. Or if you turn the screen upside down and press it, it will mute the sound. In fact, this button can be set in a more complex way than this. Some people do the settings that if they press the Action Button, followed by the volume up or down button within a certain amount of seconds, it will trigger some other actions. But personally, I haven't had a chance to use such complex settings. Because I don't know what to do with it. I already put a link under the clip. Feel free to check it out. The next thing I like is the change from the Lightning port to the USB-C port. This allows us to connect with other devices more easily, whether connecting a microphone when recording video, or recording songs on a keyboard. But this also comes with some disadvantages. This means that if the people around you still use Lightning, you won't be able to borrow their cable to charge your phone. Or if you still have Apple devices that still have the Lightning port, especially things that need to be charged often, like the old AirPods or Airpods Pro. In the end, you still have to carry 2 charging cables. Changes still have to take place in order to fully go USB-C. Next up, we will talk about things that I feel so-so or mediocre. What could be improved is the battery. I feel like it could last longer. It's not much different from when I used the iPhone 14 Pro model. With one charge, the phone stays from around morning to around evening. On a long day, or on a day you have to use a lot of social media, the battery goes down very quickly. At 6:00 p.m., I am already at 20%. But we have to accept that part of this may be because I use the function to fully charge 80%. in order to preserve the life of the battery.
But really, if you feel like using it to the full potential, just let it charge to 100% every time. This is going to bring you a full-day use. Another thing that many people are worried about
is the overheating issue or thermal management. Many reviews say that the device can get really hot
and therefore has an effect on use because the phone will stutter. For me, I have never encountered a moment where the machine was so hot that I find it troublesome. Part of it may be because I don't play games on my mobile phone. But I made an observation that after I shot a 4k clip for half an hour or so, the phone will be very warm. But I think it is normal
due to the processing going on. But if I pick up my mobile phone and use it after recording a long clip, it is obvious that the phone is laggy. The frame rate drops, the screen isn't smooth. But if you leave it for 3-4 minutes, it will come back to normal when the device started to cool down. By the way, speaking of the framerate, I don't know if it is just me or not, I feel like when I scroll through the screen when I'm using social media or in the Options menu in the iOS itself, I feel like the iPhone 14 Pro that I had would scroll a little smoother. But this might just be me. Anyway, if you share the same experience, please feel free to share in the comments. Finally, when I moved to the Pro Max model, which has a 6.7-inch screen, I, as a person who normally likes to use my phone with one hand, and is used to the size of 6.1 inches over the years, when I changed to 6.7 inches, I had to admit that I had to adjust a lot at first. Especially because I like to use my thumb to do everything in one hand. So, I had to learn to use the drag-down screen function for a while, in order to be able to do the same thing. Because when you travel on a bus or a train, you only have one free hand. The size of it makes you afraid that it is going to slip out of my hand. To conclude, the outstanding things of the iPhone 15 Pro Max that other iPhone models still can't offer are as follows: The first is the telephoto lens. When this thing is used for portrait photography, it's just phenomenal. Those who love portraits will definitely fall for it. Next, if you want to do something more convenient, the Action Button, which is available on both the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models, is very versatile and should fulfill your use cases more or less. And finally, if you have to work with USB-C accessories, Not having to carry or look for a lightning adapter will make your life a lot easier. But if the three reasons I have mentioned did not convince or impress you that much, I'd recommend you buying other models which are less pricey than this. Or you could as well save money and wait for the new model. That's it for today. If you have any questions or experiences to share, feel free to do it in the comments. Come and join the convo!
