hi my friend it's pat sloan here and we are on the last row of all my trimmings and what do you think it is tick tock tick tock there we go it's trees aren't they pretty look just so so pretty mine are snow topped because you know it's winter when you want to have christmas trees trees and another tree so let me just stick them up there let's see how they look i like the trees a lot some of you have been very creative and wonderful with your layouts you're like creating your own layouts already for this on combining things so that has been like so much fun to see so there we go there will be the trees now there will be a layout i think it's a fairly simple straightforward one what i am going to do is use the extras and make a piano key border around it so i'll cut strips two and a half inch strips so i have to be sure that this is uh the right size for that i didn't check i bought to see and then i will cut all these up and i'm going to use as much of the darker fabrics and then sprinkle in some of the lighter ones oh i don't know maybe i'll just use them all um but to be all the leftovers from that so i'll do sort of get out to a little bit bigger size yes this is so much fun all the trimmings for our christmas sew along all right it is also cross stitch university check-in there's a new video from the fat quarter shop uh kimberly jolly is doing and so first i want to tell you that i tried to railroad the stitch uh that's interesting it's also to me it was a little bit time consuming so i thought like uh i don't know that may not be a thing i do i also don't worry about direction of the stitch i know some of you just you know had a heart attack or grabbed a paper bag and started breathing like i don't worry about the stitch because for me i want to cross stitch for fun i don't and i it's only fun for me to cross dish like in kind of one direction anything else is tedious and i don't need tedious i don't need that in my life i'm not entering competition with my work i'm doing it for myself to make a little pillow or wall hanging and just to occupy my hands so i only stitch one way so that means my stitches go different ways and i'm not going to tell you which one it is now i did also okay so cross stitch university we're going to go on to the next part so i can start stitching now the top row so i'm excited about that get the top row done see how much i get done before next week because i was stitching on my sail away and i got down to getting the lighthouse organized so i'm super excited to get to the lighthouse because now it feels less tedious like i said i really don't like tedious things for this this is my relaxing stuff so i want it to be easy and that means also i i if i see how so i'll probably be working on this for the rest of the time that means the sailing one probably won't get to work on it again until october but we'll see i'm sort of trying to balance out because i want to do this one and keep up with what kimberly is doing with crosstalk university for some reason that feels important i also got these gigantic rings to put i didn't know that they were this big look how big they are but to put the floss bitties on let's see let me see if i can reach this over here i think i can yeah so this is what i did because i'm trying to figure out what organizing my threads looks like and on the crossdish university today kimberly is not talking about these but she is talking about how to keep your stitches organized as you're working and using a little design board and threading up the thread what to do with the little leftover piece if you unthread a needle although when you have a whole pack of needles you can keep them keep a bunch of them threaded so i had gotten this to try it i have smaller rings but i thought i wanted the big ring because i just thought about like you could sort of hold it a little bit more easily i don't know we'll see we'll see if i like it gotta try different stuff because you don't know especially if you're doing something and the craft is fairly new to you you don't really know what parts of it you're going to like until you try different things try different methods and that's how you figure out which ones will work for you okay public service announcement the aliso irons the ones here like the pink and yellow ones are in stock so there's a link below and at my website today for uh over to the fat quarter shop so she has the pink and the yellow ones i i had talked to the company aliso about when were the other colors the turquoise and the purple you know they are still waiting for them to be to arrive as you know the supply chain chains and delays are massive across the world and so you know odd things can get affected like i went to the grocery store and you couldn't buy one type of nuts you could buy other types you couldn't buy one type of pretzel you could buy other kinds so it was like there'd be like a slot in the shelf like none of those were there same company just those ones didn't come in or whatever the issue is so anyways you can get the pink and the yellow links are below while you're there subscribe subscribe then we can be friends and you'll be able to find my page anytime you want it here at youtube okay so i have a couple fabric lines i want to show you because they're very fall and for those of you who are going to use fall for any of the upcoming sew-alongs you haven't really decided on your fabric this these one of these two might be what you like so let me sit down anyway looking at fabric is the best isn't it that is this could be used for even the autumn woodland if you're not doing that with the kit it can be used for the fall frolic you could use it for the wreath which starts friday you can use it for happy everything so first i want to show you one from banner text called english autumn and i'm gonna have to open this because they do their uh ten inch squares a little differently so they they wrap the entire thing it doesn't have a paper slip instead they have a sheet on the back that tells you all the fabrics but we i want you to look at the fabrics this has got a really pretty plum but also a lot of other colors in here like a light teal like a soft aqua really maybe which is just lovely so let's let's enjoy some fabric see okay we've got the the plum colors and they're you know it's a floral stripes couple different stripes and then here is that same design in a tan there we go tan well kind of a yellowy base and there's the i really like that on the aqua teal you know however you want to call that probably more aqua this looks like ticking like old time ticking doesn't it it comes in a couple of colors making a mess of the pylon i'm just flinging them over there there's some paisleys see the paisley you can actually see it a little bit better on the plum this layer cake would be great just in a quilt like the one i have hanging on the other side of my studio from the perfect 10 book there's sort of a pink a sort of a light light plum and that's more pink tans now this has got like it looks like it's a little bit like old-fashioned wallpaper i like that because it gives a little bit different structure to the whole project you know it gives a different design element the way they're placed out there's some aqua green so it's got a really a nice grouping there's more of that stripe and then a different tan got borne down to burgundies aquas greens so it's a nice big line of fabric has a lot of different shades here's oh here's wait look at that that's a different print there's several different prints so that's got this really cool paisley on it and the scattered flowers i love it there's it is on teal more teal and a couple more lights there's a brown and more of that plummy dark plummy color more and more more so this line is called autumn [Music] whoops english autumn there we go it's called english autumn and there's a link in the description box and over at my website today so the other line that i got that i wanted to show you is one from my friend adida at laundry basket quilts and this is called secret stash and so she has a lot of different colors in sequin stash which is linked below this particular colorway is called the earth tones and so her fabrics are also really pretty and she has usually has one of these great big prints and i feel think this feels very fall-like she does have other colors in it but see the birds i just really get i love the birds you know what okay speaking of birds for a second hold on did you know that there are different live cams out there and that you can watch all kinds of fun things we have been watching i think it's called deerfield beach yes in florida deerfield beach which has a webcam in their fish aquarium so in the aquarium we found one in germany that was a nature place and they have hedgehogs and all kinds of other birds uh then they do a recap one so that takes like the best of the day otherwise if you're watching it live you just never know what's going to show up if anything we've watched elephants in south africa so these are just so much fun you can just type in to youtube animal live cam uh webcam and you'll get different options if i can find the hedgehog one we just watched that one we said they did a recap thing and so we got to see the hedgehogs so they were so cute okay back to the fabric i just had to tell you because it was the birds the birds were so pretty there was woodpeckers and all kinds of stuff all right let me so these are this color family is that teal and i think it would also just make just by itself using maybe a crisp white against it i think that or an ivory even if you wanted to be less crisp would be just beautiful so you can see all the different patterns in it so it's a lot of smaller scale things but they are just gorgeous i like this where you can get that that light really starts to pop off of there so that when you put it in a quilt it just doesn't sort of fade away here's a few more dots dots everything dots and this nice medium scale print and then back to some small little like oval medallions nice uh nice branches on gold so here we go so it's that sort of greeny gold and teal tan dots big dots so this is a really nice combination and would be great in any of the fall type quilts or any kind of quilt but you know if you're looking for something feels a bit fall but maybe a bit different i think the two today are perfect options for that because they give you a little a little bit of fun and gorgeous gorgeous fabric to play with all right my friend you are going to make trees today and then next week we'll have the layout some of you have just gone ahead and put sashing in yourself um so go look at my group put along with pat sloane and you will see what's been going on here are my snow-capped trees for today so i love you see you online
