All The Disney News You Missed So Far This Year

believe it or not while we've all been waiting for blue sky and Big Thunder Mountain confirmations Disney has released so much news under the radar this year and a lot of it's going to impact your next Disney trip so today we're giving away jam-packed video featuring all the latest theme park and cruise ship announcements here on dfb guide hey everybody it's AJ for Disney food blog and I have a lot of news to share with you Disney's been up to a lot of major stuff lately when it comes to their parks and cruise ships and we're going to give you the full rundown so you know what to expect right now when you go and in the future over the next year when you're heading out on your Disney trip okay we're going to start today's video on a real high note with free park tickets water park tickets Disney World announced that in 2025 those staying at Disney World hotels including Disney Vacation Club properties will get a free Park ticket to the water parks on their arrival day let me repeat that you have to use it on your arrival day otherwise the water park perk is gone out the window you'll be able to use this perk at either Disney's Blizzard Beach or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon whichever one is open on your arrival day ever since the pandemic Disney's been staggering out their water park annual refurbishment so the water parks no longer stay open simultaneously anymore the Disney website States guests should be able to enjoy at least one water park experience year round which pretty much tells us that yep they'll try to continue those staggered water park closures even after this 2025 benefit kicks in as it currently stands this benefit's only available to those with check-in dates from January 1st to December 31st 2025 usage of the benefit is subject to availability and all guests hoping to get into the water parks with complimentary admission must be listed on the hotel reservation okay so yes we've been waiting for the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain in the animal kingdom expansion info and we do have a little bit of information to share with you on that a little bit of news Disney has been relentlessly teasing us with little updates and reminders about that huge expansion that's being planned for both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and little by little both expansion plans are at least looking more and more like reality with each new bit of concept art and blueprints and approved permit files now how about this super quick recap to catch everyone up to speed especially if you're new here at dfb guide couple of years ago during the last d23 convention in 2022 Disney announced a couple of Blue Sky projects they call it Blue Sky because they're just sort of dreaming about it that would bring new lands to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom for Magic the proposed new land would be Beyond Big Thunder Mountain there's a bunch of land back there that Disney can use and it's got potential IP themes centered around coco or maybe Encanto or the Disney villains meanwhile animal Kingdom's rethe would take place on the current dinoland USA area with possible rethe idea centered around Moana and zootopia which is no longer the case now I'll get to that in just a second back back in 2022 when we first heard about all this these ideas were just ideas but now things are starting to get a lot more serious although we're still not sure about any kind of opening dates or even timelines it seems that the construction for these new areas is starting up at an exclusive Walt Disney imagineering media event I got to go to which took place at the beginning of April this year we were told that Disney will soon file permits for storm drainage and other foundational work for the land where the Magic Kingdom expansion will soon take place it's a small step but it's a crucial step as they get ready to build on that Land Disney imagineering exact Bruce vaugh said that these Magic Kingdom expansion plans are the largest ever the additions are reportedly on a similar scale to lands like Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios and Pandora the world of Avatar in Animal Kingdom including the addition of new attractions restaurants shows and more meanwhile in Animal Kingdom we learned back in 2023 that instead of a whole zootopia Moana theme for the dino land area imagineers are now sketching out concept art for a tropical America's themed land which would feature properties like Encanto and Indiana Jones which makes me think Encanto is not going to go into the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Magic Kingdom expansion seems we've finally got some confirmation that Disney's moving forward with that project as well imagineers are currently in Mexico Gathering ideas for this new area as we speak not only that but recently Disney officially filed a permit with the south Florida Water Management District for a trailer compound outlining parking and utilities for those who be working on site a permit that's not too terribly far away from the current dinoland USA area and speaking of major overhauls inside Animal Kingdom a new zootopia show will be replacing the current it's tough to be a bug attraction inside the Tree of Life Disney told us to expect the show to be filled with humor and action and fan favorite characters like Judy Hops and Nick wild and officer Clouser and other zootopia Pals to be announced again Disney's still in the very early stages of all these major land expansion so we'll continue to keep you updated as we learn more about him again Disney is still in the very opened in 1999 poor test track but maybe this will be the ride makeover that finally transforms this high-speed abcot attraction into the best version of itself yet which honestly I think the best version of it was world of motion but that's just me anyway during the 2023 destination d23 event we learned that test TR would be undergoing its third ever reimagining and now we've got some new concept art and an official closing date to follow up on that Disney hasn't released too many details about what the updated ride experience will be like just yet but they did mention it'll directly take inspiration from World of motion which yay and for those of you who aren't sure what world of motion is it's an incredible phenomenal attraction that was an opening day Epcot ride that I loved so much that was all based on the history of Transportation fun and super educational anyway I loved that ride but I was an Epcot kid and I'm you know kind of nerdy anyway if you want to ride test track and its current state it's current iteration before the rethe takes place you'll need to get over to evcot before June 17th 2024 because once June 17th this year we'll have to stay so long to the whole simar creation Tron styled concept and we're not really sure what we're going to get they're going to do something to the ride Vehicles it looks like from the concept art there's going to be like like a a wooded area and like bright Sunshine coming through so I'm I'm excited I'm excited to see what's going to happen and again anything you can add in this world of motion related I will be very very happy about I hope they bring some of the animatronics back cuz they were super fun now here is a Disney World News announcement that you can experience in the resort area right now on April 10th 2024 more than 4 years after it closed due to the 2020 pandemic 1900 Park Fair restaurant has officially reopened over at the Grand Floridian Resort with this character meal reopening you can now grab breakfast and dinner at the buffet once again as well as meet three new characters to the restaurant along with a returning favorite now you can meet Aladdin dressed as Prince Ali fabulous he Alaba Princess Tiana and her new Tiana's Bou Adventure outfit she's adorable Mirabel from Encanto also adorable and Cinderella who you used to be able to see here before the closures and has returned to help out with the wish granting ceremonies that take place during your meal if you want a more detailed look at the team's first impressions of this this renovated spot be sure to check out our dfb during your next visit to Disney Springs you now have the option to eat at the sitdown restaurant summer house on the lake which not only has a variety of California inspired Entre for you to choose from but also has its own housemade roses a walkup cookie bar and some Stellar views thanks to its location right up against the sassagoula river or if you're looking for a faster yet still just as shiny as new alternative eat by manit Shawan is a counter service restaurant that serves Indian inspired Cuisine with an Innovative twist like a great bread service a tandoori chicken poutine y'all know I'm all about that poutine or as you have requested me to say fine in some cases DIY panty pury and a walking taco as well as samosas lots of good stuff and some seasonal shakes and stuff going on here too now Disney World Disneyland and Disneyland Paris all have one one big news announcement in common they've all recently updated their Star Tours attractions at the beginning of April the Star Tours rides across all three Parks added a new lineup of Adventures to their already extensive amount of different scenes and storylines and surprise character varieties that you can experience each time you ride now your randomized ride could feature scenarios straight from Disney Plus's newest Star Wars series like Ahsoka Andor and the Mandalorian with the latest updates this means that Star Wars fans now have over 250 different Adventure possibilities to experience so you're pretty much guaranteed a New Journey each time you ride and for those of you saying well then how come I get the same one every time I ride AJ I don't know I'm not an imagineer next up we've got four big projects in the Disney world/ Disneyland scene that now have official opening dates that you can mark on your calendar so let's start with the experiences starting up this may over in Disneyland the nighttime spectacular Fantasmic has been closed for a long time due to a midow fire Remember When Maleficent caught fire yikes that pretty much burnt the Maleficent Dragon to a crisp and the show has been closed ever since April 2023 now it's coming back to the rivers of America on May 24th 2024 while we know that the Maleficent dragon and all those extra pyrot Technics will be no more we still haven't heard a whole lot of the details regarding the show's return but we are excited to see what happens with it regardless on the very same day May 24th over on the east coast Disney Springs will be debuting a brand new drone show above Lake buav Vista this show will be called Disney dreams that soar inspired by our favorite Disney stories that showcase flight these drones are programmed to create intricate designs in the sky and will be accompanied by a musical score featuring several memorable movie quotes you'll be able to check out this show beginning on May 24th but it's only going to be here for a limited time so be sure to check it out by September 2nd if you don't want it to soar Up Up and Away without you getting a chance to see it fingers crossed though that they keep a drone show in Disney World I think they are so cool now let's skip ahead to June Epcot will be wrapping up its big communicore Hall and Plaza project finally it'll be opening its doors to guests starting on June 10th communicore Hall and communicore Plaza will be housed in epcot's World celebration area bringing epcot's International festivals to the center of Disney World the plaza section will be a designated outdoor space where guests can come to relax and experience the extensions of the festival like those large-scale concerts and more intimate performances not only that but as part of the opening a new en condo show is going to debut on the newly opened communicore Plaza stage craion and kto will feature iconic songs and stories straight from the movie so get ready to sing along with the family Madrigal meanwhile the hall section of the commun Accord twins will be the first fully purpose-built structure in Festival programming designed with flexibility in mind this Haul is going to be able to host a wide variety of experiences featuring food and art and live music Plus have a demonstration kitchen Mixology Bar exhibition Gallery space so this is basically going to be what kind of world show place was kind of acting as and the play Pavilion SL Wonders Of Life pavilion whatever you want to call that big kind of gold Dome over there when that was the festival center this is kind of replacing that so fingers crossed they're going to bring back a bunch of the seminars and demonstrations and a whole bunch of those celebrity chefs I hope they'll be back as well communicore Hall is also going to be the new home for the Mickey and friends meet and greet so expect him to be moving in soon Disney clarified that this area will be open year round not just during festivals and that it'll be a nice place to relax and sit in the AC whenever you need a break from the Orlando Sunshine finally on July 1st the new DVC cabins at Fort Wilderness will start welcoming guests to move on in and get cozy the cabins will sleep up to six adults and feature a bedroom bathroom living room full kitchen and private patio a select number of cabins will also be dog friendly all guests can now book cabin STS for their future trips which include both DVC and ndvc members alike next up we've got opening timelines with no dates yet while this next batch of Disney experiences to be may not have official opening dates yet many of them at least have some sort of loose timeline that we can refer to giving us some sort of glimpse into when we can expect to see these projects finally go live granted loose timelines can always shift back or even shift up depending on where imagineers are with their development so don't be planning any future Disney trips so around the hope that these experiences will be open for your vacation so let's talk about the real big one first Tiana's biou Adventure cuz we recently got another clue for when we can expect to see this retheme Disneyland slmag kingdom ride finally open the late chef Leah Chase who established the legendary dookie Chase Restaurant in New Orleans as the hot spot it is today was the inspiration for Tiana in The Princess and the Frog Leah's family continues to run the famous New Orleans restaurant in her honor to this day which is why Disney plans to bring the chase family to Disney World to be among the first to ride Tiana's bio Adventure now this Chase family trip should be happening around the same time that the media event will be happening for Tiana's by Adventure which is mid June so why is this important well media events for new Disney World rides tend to happen around the same time as cast member and annual passholder early previews and then General opening dates happen very soon after that so if our predictions are correct it's likely we could emphasize on the could be looking at a late June or early July opening for Tiana's Bou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland could see a later opening date for Tiana's Bou Adventure than what the East Coast can expect since Splash Mountain closed much later over on the west coast in May instead of January of last year but again everything's pretty much a speculation at this point until we hear it straight from the mouse's mouth meanwhile also happening over in Magic Kingdom's Frontier land only a Stones Throw from Tiana's bio Adventure Disney imagineers are currently updating the Country Bear jamere show with an allnew act now the Bears are going to be singing Disney songs in new Styles like pop country rockabilly and Bluegrass the show closed for renovations on January 27th 2024 but it's sated to reopen with the updates this summer will it open at the same time as Tiana's will it open earlier will it be later only time will tell but we'll make sure to let you know just as soon as we've got more details on this in the fall over in Hollywood Studios The Little Mermaid a musical Adventure will open up in the animation Courtyard area inside the same building where the Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show used to take place the theater has been left sitting empty since 2020 but now Disney's finally ready to dive back under the sea with Ariel and friends this show is going to be based on the cartoon version of The Little Mermaid and Disney says it will include classic songs from the film like Part of Your World the brand new kiss the girl Poor Unfortunate Souls and more it's going to be very similar to the puppet show that was there before but with an extra song and probably a few other little changes towards the end of 2024 Polynesian Village Resort will open up its brand new DVC Tower which is going to be inspired by the early concepts of the Polynesian Village along with several Waterfront rooms which will give guests a picture perfect view of Cinderella Castle from their window the Villas will also offer new dining and swimming areas too and that's pretty much what we know about this Villa Tower so far aside from all the construction being quite the eyesore for current Polynesian guests so we'll be excited to see this project finish up just to see this Deluxe Resort restored to its former beautiful self all right almost done with this section I promise just a few more unfortunately there's been a few delays for the two new food spots coming to the boardwalk in Resort both the Blue Ribbon corn dog kiosk and the Cake Bake Shop restaurant were supposed to open by the end of 2023 but now they're supposed to open sometime in 2024 we thought that meant an early 2024 opening date but we're now into the merry month of May and have yet to hear any more updates about either location just yet now Blue Ribbon corn dogs does have its sign so we've got that while we're waiting for more news to come you can get an idea of what both of these establishments will offer guests in the future by studying up other already existing locations Blue Ribbon corn dogs already has a kiosk up and running in Disneyland and the cake bake shop has two stor friends in Indianapolis Indiana we've been fortunate enough to try both places before they've hit the Disney World scene so I'll link our reviews for those down in the description for you and now for two Disney World experiences that have been announced but have no opening timelines whatsoever per the release of this video that is a new Lounge themed to the classic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is coming to Magic Kingdom's Adventure Land this is going to be a firstof its kind experience for Pirates of all ages extending the story of Pirates of the Caribbean the ride Disney imagineers are currently in the design process for this new Lounge meaning further details will be revealed later in the future we cannot wait then over in Animal Kingdom a new Utopia show will be replacing the current it's tough to be a bug attraction inside the tree of life you remember we referenced this earlier in the video Disney told us to expect the show to be filled with humor and action and fan but for all of you you aren't familiar with what this project actually involves let me give you the quick rundown in 2021 Disney announced its Disneyland forward initiative which is a project where Disneyland would work directly with the city of Anaheim to rezone specific parts of Disneyland property so they can use it for new lands inside their Parks these lands could be developed into potential areas themed around stories like Tangled and Peter Pan Frozen zootopia as well as a variety of other options that Disney's been mulling over without the commitment to any specific ones just yet but most of the ones they've been suggesting are lands that they're developing in Orlando or in other parks around the world there are still a lot of Hoops that Disneyland has to jump through to make this Vision a reality but after an important city council meeting on April 16th 2024 it seems the city of Anaheim did approve a Disneyland $1.9 billion expansion plan toward this project which is a major step forward for at least one if not more of these lands to actually see the light of day but one expansion idea that Disneyland seems a little more committed to at the moment is once centered around another Pandora area like you'll find over an animal kingdom in Orlando during the 2024 shareholders meeting Disney surprised us with concept art of the new Pandora land they're looking to create and we can't help but notice that while this art has a similar vibe to the currently existing world of avatar on the East Coast it also looks extremely different from what we've already got so maybe this one will be more way of water inspired I don't know but I'm eager to find out more and hold on everybody Disneyland's got even more stuff for you to look forward to in their parks Haunted Mansion officially closed for refurbishment as of January 21st 2024 in Disneyland park to not only change back to normal after its holiday overlay but also to Begin work on the reimagined grounds improved accessibility new gift shop and expanded outdoor Cube for the attraction we're not sure how much longer this closure is going to last but one thing we do know is that this classic attraction is definitely getting some much needed love and TLC further on down the line to happen at some unforeseen date Disney California Adventures Avengers came campus will be expanding to explore the Multiverse according to Disney guests will be able to battle along the Avengers against King Thanos in an all new ride yep King Thanos Brent strong executive creative director at Walt Disney imagineering shared an early look at the new ride vehicle which will feature a design that combines elements of Tony Stark's time suits and xandarian jump points and wakandan technology according to Disney judging by the concept art and the descriptive language we're starting to think this ride might be similar to Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic rewind in Epcot but we won't fully gamble on that prediction just yet not until we know a little bit more so there's so much uncertainty but how's about some new Disneyland stuff you can experience right now at the end of January this year the major Paradise Pier Hotel overhaul finally wrapped up and reopened as the new Pixar Place Hotel according to Disney this reimagining weaves the Artistry of Pixar into a comfortable contemporary setting and that's not only through its Lobby it's also throughout all of the restaurants new restaurants hotel rooms pool and exclusive meet and greet opportunities too say hi to bing bong and Joe Gardner for me and since Disneylands pretty much on a roll with its Pixar representation lately you can keep the Pixar love going by checking out Disneyland's Pixar Fest which just kicked off on April 26th and is going to last through August 4th this Festival spans across all of the Disneyland property including both parks and the downtown Disney shopping district and features lots of limited time entertainment like the Better Together Pixar pal celebration parade Club Pixar this is a nighttime party and Disney California Adventure for those of you who went to the old Mad Hatter tea party it's kind of like that except kidfriendly together forever a Pixar nighttime spectacular and the Pixar pels playtime party at Disneyland park and lots of character meet and greets exclusive merchandise and tons of Pixar theme snacks for all you DVC folks out there or even non- DVC folks looking for a more elevated stay the Disneyland Hotel also has that new Disney Vacation Club tower that just opened last fall called The Villas at Disneyland hotel creative I know featuring 344 new Disney themed rooms as well as a new feature pool called the pallet pool and a new place to grab some bites and drinks over at Palm Breeze bar now as much movement as there is in Disney World and Disneyland right now there might be even more movement going on in the Disney Cruise Line scene first off the new Lookout key at Lighthouse Point over on the island of alra in the Bahamas is going to open to DCL guests for the first time this summer Disney's private portion of this island has been created in close collaboration with local artists and advisers and is meant to celebrate Bahamian culture on the island you're going to find all kinds of beachy activities similar to what you might find on Disney's other Private Island Castaway key so think pristine beaches Market Style Dining character meet and greets interactive water playay features adult exclusive areas private Cabana rentals Excursion opportunities and other fun-filled memory making options and along with all those activities Lookout key will also have an exclusive art and culture Pavilion where you're going to find special programs and local artists who will provide learning opportunities for guests who want to know more about Bahamian life the first Lookout key visit for the general public will start with the Disney Magic on June 6th other ships like the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy will also be cruising to this Lighthouse Point location on various dates which you can find on the Disney Cruise Line website now we will be on that cruise on June 6th and I cannot wait to share it with you so you know what else we can expect from Disney Cruise Line this year though a whole new cruise ship the Disney treasure will be the sixth ship in the DCL Fleet set to take its maiden voyage with passengers on December 21st 2024 what a Christmas present while the Disney wish is known as Disney's castle on the Seas the Disney treasure will celebrate Walt Disney's Lifelong Love of Adventure drawing influences from Asia Africa and even Aladdin's agraba while we don't know everything about the Disney treasure just yet we already know a lot about it like how there's going to be an aquam Mouse ride with a brand new story The Curse of the Golden Egg and how it's going to have a brand new rotational dining experience called Plaza de coco which is going to be a character meal and how the three new lounges are going to be themed around classic Disney Park attractions including the Haunted Mansion jungle cruise and the now defunct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and how there's going to be a sweet shop themed around zootopia called Jumbo's sweets and how a neverbe seen Broadway style production will debut here called The Tale of Moana now I could keep going but we've still got a little more ground to cover in today's video that I don't want to Short change so if you want to learn about every single detail bit of Disney Cruise Line news turns out the Disney treasure isn't the only new ship you have to look forward to the Disney Destiny will be hitting the high seas sometime in 2025 the theme of this new cruise ship is going to center around Disney's greatest heroes and villains so expect to see characters both good and bad from The Lion King Hercules 101 Dalmations and more but wait there's a seventh ship coming to the Disney Cruise Line too so many ships I know I'm excited the Disney adventure will also be setting sail in the distant future with its Home Port in Singapore this will be the first Disney Cruise Line ship to sail from Singapore and throughout southeast Asia work on the Disney adventure is currently underway in Germany but we look forward to sharing further details with you as they're announced now you think Disney World and Disneyland have a lot going on wait until you hear about what's happening everywhere else Disneyland paris's second Park while Disney Studio Park originally opened in 2002 as a way to give guests a behindth scenes look into the making of movies and animated feature films and TV shows however the theme of the park is going to shift to instead the celebration of the different worlds and lands of Disney films resulting in a name change hm sound familiar Hollywood Studios now Walt Disney Studios is going to be changing its name to Disney Adventure Park which will officially go into effect once its new world of Frozen area opens along with the new world of Frozen we'll also see other new additions to the revamped Park including World premiere Plaza that's an area that brings together theaters Disney animation and Pixar stories and a stylish Art Deco inspired setting a brand new Tangled ride is going to be a spinning family attraction based on Tangled and the Regal View Restaurant in Lounge a stylish table service restaurant will offer guest spectacular views over Adventure Bay as well as a Disney princess's meet and greet in Tokyo Disney SE Fantasy Springs is getting ready to open up its eighth port on June 6 2024 and we are going to have some really really cool in-depth in-person information for you from Fantasy Springs very soon now this new expansion which I have been waiting for for years will be home to three areas inspired by the Disney animated films Frozen Tangled and Peter Pan plus there'll be a brand new Tokyo Disney SE Fantasy Springs hotel that opens up right into the new area of the park can't wait to be there can't wait to see it and can't wait to share it all with you stay tuned as far as brand new international additions you can experience right now though Shanghai Disney Resort opened its new zootopia land for guests on December 20th 2023 which is giving us serious fomo because it's literally the coolest most colorful place ever inside this new area you're going to find zootopia Hot Pursuit that's a trackless ride system featuring lots of state-of-the-art tech and super realistic animatronics that I'm pretty sure have a soul just saying you can also try exclusive jumbo pop treats I watch a one-of-a-kind atmosphere show where the citizens Utopia pop up in the windows and chat amongst themselves and with you and lots of other little details that'll make you go okay when can I go see this place and why isn't it closer to me okay how's about one more news drop for the road on November 20th 2023 world of Frozen opened for the first time in forever sorry had to in Hong Kong Disneyland creating two new sections of the park Arendelle Village and Arendelle Forest The Village section is where you can find the Frozen Ever After Dark Ride as well as Arendelle Castle the Friendship Fountain Clock Tower square and the North Mountain which features Elsa's Ice Palace of course meanwhile the forest section highlights experiences like wandering o and sliding sleighs and the playhouse in the woods but if you want to learn more about all the latest Hong Kong expansion check out
