good evening what's your name my name is Samuel Jake AMRO I'm a stand-up comedian oh wow how long you been doing I've been doing comedy for 10 years now do you do it full-time yeah do it full-time okay are you nervous no I I have Tourette syndrome so I switch the lab I blink real fast my head flops around if you see that it's kind of cute thank you I'm Samuel J kam row I'm a stand-up comedian 30 years old and from Los Angeles California I was born with Tourette syndrome so I twitch a lot my face which is like it's a neurological disorder and there's no cure I was diagnosed when I was six years old just happened out of nowhere if any was rough and no idea what was happening with my body it was physically painful and I got a lot of migraines it felt like almost a person was like holding my face in different directions at school I got bullied nicknames teased being the one left out of things there was really no safe zone the most upsetting part was just feeling like I was this outsider for something that I couldn't control her when I first saw stand-up comedy on TV light bulb flashed on and I was like I could do this it was so cool that somebody could just talk about their lives and also relate to a group of strangers by doing that which is something I've been trying to do my entire life first time I hit the stage I was so scared that first laugh changed my life how are you feeling you're about to go out in front of the audience and the judges I'm just anxious and excited and I thought I'd be nervous but I just want to get out there and do it I've worked really hard for this I just had a beautiful daughter it's a 50% chance she might end up with Tourette's coming on America's Got Talent is an opportunity to show her that I took my Tourette's syndrome and I turned it in to a positive going out on stage tonight is going to be an unforgettable moment I want to be the first comedian to win this thing I want to prove to my daughter she can do anything what does this mean me you coming to AGT now this means everything I've worked my entire life for a moment like this they don't come very often I'm really grateful just had a baby girl and this is a beautiful opportunity Wow and your family is all supportive of this career yes since I started they've been 100% behind me so I'm very thankful well you know what it's scary enough doing whatever you do to hit that X and I just want the best for you I really do thanks so much go ahead thank you it's like I said I have Tourette syndrome it's why my head flops around I blink real fast it's weird it always looks like I'm trying to tell you a secret this twitch gets me in trouble my roommate came home from work I was like doh our neighbor died he said did you kill him yo this is a true story when I was 10 years old my parents sent me to Tourette's camp yeah that's where the joke should end it's a real place and I didn't realize it till this moment but I found out that when other people twitch it makes me twitch more so on the first day they put us in a circle with a hundred kids the kid next to me did a shoulder roll and my Tourette's saw that and took that as a challenge and I threw him a head flop the girl next to him did a full body twitch and everybody saw that in all hell broke loose [Laughter] kids were rolling on the ground I was in the corner like why they send us here our parents were on top of the hill like all their breakdancing I'm Samuel J Conroe thank you my name is Samuel J Conroe I'm 30 years old and I'm a stand-up comedian the first audition it felt amazing especially growing up with Tourette syndrome Tourette syndrome is why my hair flops around I blink real fast it's weird it always looks like I'm trying to tell you a secret I mean God what a fantastic attitude you got to life this is what this show is all about thank you por eso it finally feels like I'm accepted after 10 years of being on the road trying to support my family getting the four yeses felt like everything we'd worked for it was for this moment I met my wife Alfie in high school high school sweethearts yeah she's always been there for me there's been moments where we've been in the car together crying no money in our bank account but never once does she look at me and say stop pursuing my dream I saw his humor which is the biggest thing I fell in love with he really is like the definition of what it means to be like a solid stand-up man having a baby changes your entire outlook on life so if I could be one of the necks moving on to live shows it would just be amazing I want to get my daughter just an incredible childhood and that's what daddy's doing [Music] Samuel hey hey buddy welcome back thank you how do you feel since the last time you were here I feel incredible and I'm super excited to be here and take advantage of this incredible moment just tell the audience for those that didn't see the last episode you have swagger just be able to say something first of all don't be too good though that's not great you're gonna be too good just not too amazing yeah just doesn't it be too good so I'm married I've been with them for 13 years high school sweethearts in the year before we got married she put a time frame on me to propose to her she was like hey Sam come here you have three months to propose to me or we are throw all I could think is if you're gonna put three months on me to show you how much I love you after we've been together for so long I'm gonna make this the worst three months of your life you brought this trickery upon yourself the next week we went out to dinner I got down on one knee she was like oh my god this is it I was like nah girl I got to tie my shoes they lose sheep in agony recently she wants me to get a new car I'm not gonna do it I Drive a crappy car I do it on purpose with a nice car it's impossible you gotta be polite let people cut you off cuz you don't want to mess up your car with a crappy car I grew the hell I want I'll run these strings last week a dude cut me off I'm not gonna let him get away with it without him see me glare into his soul to let him know what he just did to me I drove next to him I flipped him off he flipped me off I cut him off he cut me off we end up in a parking lot he got into his car I got it in my car he was like yo homie I'll key your car I was like y'all helmet I'll keep my own car yo this dude wanted to fight me I was like bring it I'm not scared of anybody I was bullied when I was younger you're not gonna bully me as an adult okay and here's the thing if you fight me you are at a disadvantage cuz if you beat me up your dude that beat up a dude with a disability and if I beat you up you just got your ass kicked by a dude with a disability I'm Samuel Conroe thank you hey there's a star what's up I knew from the beginning that I would support Sam on anything that he wanted to do as long as he was following his heart I remember you you wanted to be a veterinarian and oddly enough that's where the Tourette's would not have worked out very well you were just dad I I changed my mind I want to be a stand-up comedian and that's every father's dream I have thought about doing comedy myself but to raise a family with seven kids is hard watching what you did when we were growing up and how hard you worked I think it really inspired me so I put my focus in on bringing home the bacon feeding the family the most important advice still I think is love your audience I think about that before I go on stage every time in my eyes Sam is the best comedian that has ever walked this earth and Robin Williams is a close second love you love you too sunny Sun that's me yo I've been working for this moment for over 10 years and I gotta tell you it's a dream come true to follow two dolphins doing whatever it is they were doing that's why I do this my wife and I we just got a puppy recently got it from the shelter lady the shelter told me that she was a German Shepherd puppy I was like dope I got a police dog I've had her for six years she's still this big which means either that lady lied to me or my dog has Benjamin buttons disease she's slowly turning into a pug which of the worst of the ugliest some of you look like you have one I'm sorry they're not cute they don't have noses they look like they smoke pugs look like they smoked a pack a day they look stressed I got a dog so when stressful things happen in the real world I know when I go home and open my door my dogs gonna be right there like hey and I'll be like hey you can't do that with a pug you walk in you're like hey your pugs like where you been I love my dog I just walk around the block all day that's my life and I was walking her a few weeks ago in this dude and a truck pulled up next to me slammed on his brakes he was like hey you with the dog what kind of dog is that and I was like I don't know she was supposed to be a German Shepherd I've never seen anything like that and she said oh and I said why and he said because I have one and then he reached in his passenger seat and he pulled up a dog that looked exactly like my dog and I had a moment where time froze and I thought I was gonna look down and just be holding a leash I was like damn you drive by magician with your puppy magic when I got her though she was really sick this is no joke hundred percent true she was really sick I took an event $3,000 the vet was like give a 30-day period you could take her back switch her out for a new one I was like yo I'm not renting a movie I loved her and I paid the money and I bring it up cuz I'm from Los Angeles I grew up here but I seen all over the country a lot of homeless people and every homeless person I'd ever seen always has a dog and it's a little kid I was always like where are all these homeless people finding all these dogs and now that I got a dog my theory has completely changed I don't think you're a homeless person and you just find a dog I think what happens is you go to the shelter you try to do something nots you adopt a dog that dog gets sick you invest your hard-earned money into that dog's health you become homeless and then you keep that dog because you deserve Sayid's economy thank you all right same people be knowing yo name now you got a little Fame cuz of a GT it's gonna be a big crowd tonight cuz they all here to see you Sam big crowd tonight alright not as famous as you thought okay name Samuel J Conroe I have Tourette syndrome it always looks like I'm trying to tell you was sacred that's why I sent a feeling you look at him smile my roommate came home from work I was like oh our neighbor died you're doing good Sam reel them in I'll shoot wait a minute this guy's not feeling it okay he wants me to bring the heat it's coming he was like did you kill him that we cooking baby and keep going I keep my own whoa whoa whoa what is this now Sam this dude's just gonna order food in the middle of your set no I don't like the road people I get offended in public when somebody being brewed you can stay inside till you get some manners wait a minute are the waves there already is this magical food and on top of that he ain't even gonna use ranch or the blue cheese mousse and OJ Carly thank you so much by saying that was good practice for the big bonus coming up semifinals Dolby Theatre millions of people watching millions of people eating chicken wings with ranch go get them tiger yeah what up yo people keep asking me how I'm the only one of my family out of seven kids who has Tourette's I don't know but I have a theory that we were born in a very particular order it's my oldest sister and then two years later my next sister and then two years later my brother and then two years later my sister five years later me two years later my sister two years later my sister yo you left me inside too long I overcooked I feel like I'm performing for two different crowds right now this is Def Jam this is Church you guys need to pick it up everyone here is like we love comedy who guys like we're gonna pray for him gonna pray the Tourette's right out of him a lady trying to do that after a show she came up to me she was like I could pray your Tourette's away I was like please don't touch me she said I could do it prayer works I said no it doesn't she said yes it does I said no it does not she said yes it does why would you even say something like that I said because 15 seconds ago I pray for you to walk away and then she walked away and I was like oh damn prayer word it just takes a minute that's why I can't go outside bad things happen I was at a party recently primarily black party cops came through they opened the door they saw me in the back they got worried because I was wearing this probably I look like H&M man to Kenneth the cops came straight to me they were like son are you okay I was like I'm fine these guys are my friends he said no for real are you okay I was like yeah these guys are my friends he said blink twice if you're in danger I was like oh shoot nope we engaged her my black friend was in the back he panicked he lost me he was like Ron he's got Tourette's he's gonna blink we're all going to jail I'm senior gedcom Rowe thank you growing up my mom was amazing she raised seven kids and she was superwoman she battled cancer for eight years and she passed away in 2012 before she passed away she wrote all of her kids a letter she said dear Sam I'm very proud of you you become a wonderful young man always continue to work hard towards your goals I know that you'll achieve whatever you want to in life I'll always be with you in spirit watching over you I love you love mom I've read it pretty much every day when I got diagnosed with Tourette syndrome my mom was the one that was always there for me and she would just tell me to follow my dreams to not let anybody or anything hold me back Tourette syndrome is genetic 50% chance that my daughter could have it and I want to make sure my daughter knows that she's strong and she's beautiful and she could do whatever she wants to in life and that's because of all the values my mom instilled into me I want to raise my daughter to have dreams and I think when she sees this and she sees my journey on America's Got Talent she's gonna believe in herself too she gets to see what happens when you put your all into something when I step out on that stage I'm gonna make my family proud and and just win this thing what a peep oh yeah yo I met my wife I met my wife in high school theater class we hate each other so the teacher put us in a group cuz that's what teachers do and we had to do a skit where she played a cop and I played a Roberts real quick she was just supposed to go put your hands up and I put my hands up then she yelled freeze and I tried my best to freeze and she didn't know I had Tourette's so she got pissed off and let me see my wife so mad at my damn life I was walking offstage she got me bother caller put my hands behind my back threw me against the wall said I said freeze full I was like damn i'ma marry this woman I like her passion wear a silly couple that's what makes this work I don't like couples that take themselves too seriously I was walking and there was this dude with his arm around his girl and he was squeezing her butt and he made our contact with me and he decided in that moment to squeeze hard and then he went like this to me as if to let me know hey man I squeezed buds and I didn't like that because it was like he was telling me that I don't squeeze butts and I wanted to embarrass him and make him feel unclean the moment so when he went I just pretended to get shot he was like I said and then this dumbass checked his hand like he forgot he loaded it he came up to me afterwards he was like oh you're that funny guy he they're comedian with Tourette's huh I don't even believe you have Tourette's I haven't heard you cuss once I was like that's not how Tourette's works bro only 10% of people have that kind most people have it I have two different extreme so when I cuss you out is from the heart it's cuz I hate you cuz I don't like rude people man I really don't like if you honk at me on the street from now on i'ma follow you home people don't believe me this is my job I don't do anything from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. I have a lot of time to follow you home I don't like rude people I get offended in public when someone's being rude I get offended for everybody even if I don't know you so from now on from this day forth and I mean this from the bottom of my heart if I open the door for you and you don't say thank ya I'm pulling you the hell back in you can stay inside till you get some madness I don't like rude people man the lady came up to me recently she was like how you go to the bathroom with her ex I was like what the heck that's a rude question first of all you don't have dad with Tourette's at the end of a question he's always there okay I've been to the bathroom I've been like Tourette's you stay outside I'm gonna do this I'll pick you up after second reason is crazy is cuz you've seen my twitch it's out there it's noticeable but it's not insane my body's not here and I'm hitting the judges it's not crazy so I don't know what this girl saw in her imagination but I've never once in my 30 years of living walked into a public restroom and just been like everybody move I have Tourette's it's about to get messy thank you guys thank you can I just say something thank you so much for
