happy facebook live time and welcome to treehouse tv i see people joining in yay hi mj hi bonnie so glad to see people here um i uh hi sharon i had my little screensaver thing there on to help you guys join in before i start chattering away um so i'm glad to see some people have managed to join in hi pam good to see you here yay so um and thank you for sharing sharon without even being asked love that i used to reward my children for doing things without being asked when they were you know when they were little anyway so thank you so uh yes feel free to share tag friends whether you're watching live or on the replay i very much appreciate it um getting the word out there about melissa's scratching treehouse and what i do and what i share so i appreciate it all right so got a big night tonight actually fairly simple project but i do have some announcements and there's lots going on in the stampin up world right now so i want to make sure you're in the know about all of it hi mary beth yay so um the project today is actually just to give you a little snippet um a redo of a project that i love from years ago it was actually a fairly simple project it's one of those samples that i've kept around for a long time and i've been looking for the right stamp set to make it work and now we have it actually we'll have it as of august 3rd so you're going to get a sneak peek of um one stamp set from the upcoming mini catalog that goes live on august 3rd so um that's the focus of the project and i've made multiple variations so you can see how to redo it in a couple different ways so um should be super fun so let's see i also have an announcement of the winner from two weeks ago's facebook live um promised a giveaway of the you're a peach simple sweet stampers tutorial bundle and a lot of you did the hashtag and shared your thoughts on um the makers mojo creative escape event which is what i had asked you guys all to do and so uh your names got introduced into a drawing and i selected somebody from that group so randomly by the way random.org so i'm going to announce the winner after the announcement so stay tuned keep your ears peeled so um anyway before i launch into announcement i do want to tell you i have a trip planned and uh i'm my my husband and daughter are staying home but i'm gonna be taking a trip to go visit my mom my mom is 92 years old um she is a crafter and crafts with me although she has not done it in a long time by herself kind of just doesn't have it in her and when i told her that i was coming to visit i'm going to be there for a whole week i am going to be working during the week but we will have some time to play of course um i mentioned crafting and she's like oh no i'm not going to craft and i was like oh devastated like really mom you're not going to craft with me so anyway i was disappointed so i wanted to just like um like rally support so what i want you guys to do is do hashtag stamping at age 92 if you think that you're going to be stamping at age 92 because i think i will be [Laughter] so i want to hear from you guys so hashtag stampingat92 and then i'm going to count how many people said that and i'm going to tell my mom okay so my mom is um sort of was put my partner in crime when designing the black ice technique which some of you guys may be familiar with so my mom is super creative so we need to rally my mom to get her to to craft with me so um we'll see if i manage to do that so comment uh with the hashtag and let me know what you think come on people i'm waiting for the hashtag to show up um are you going to be stamping at age 92 stamping at 92. all right so moving right along so there is a sales tax holiday going on um yay mary beth i know i could count on you so uh no spaces in your hashtag though just that'll it'll make it easier for me to find it so um all right so there are 13 states they're doing a sales tax holiday between par you know sort of in july and into august and some of them are two days some of them are a week long so i'm going to just make sure that you guys know if you have are in a state that is doing the sales tax holiday i did a link to the pdf with the things that are going to be on sale that you'll be able to get you know with the um free of tax um in my last newsletter which went out on saturday yay bonnie you're going to be a stamper at 92 yay i love it um all right so the states are alabama although i think alabama's dates have already passed arkansas florida massachusetts missouri mississippi new mexico ohio puerto rico south carolina tennis tennis tennis tennessee texas and virginia um so those are the states and this right now like coming up very soon or happening as uh let's see today's the 29th so one of them starts today uh florida is july 2 uh 31st through august 9th so the whole week um mississippi uh july 30th to 31st see i'm reading from my paper um july 29th to august 4th is puerto rico tennessee is july 30th to august 1st so make a note of those if you are in those respective states and um of course check out the link in my uh newsletter to see if you if one of the states that i listed was you see when those dates are because i'm not going to announce them all here all righty um so that's the sales tax holiday uh so let's see um the designer series paper sale 15 off select designer search paper in the annual catalog ends as of august 2nd so that's coming up just a few days away um and let's see what else do i have on my list the new july to december mini catalog is starting on august 3rd celebration launches on august 3rd so yay if you are a regular customer of mize of mine can't talk tonight um and you purchased from me i would have sent you a catalog you should have gotten that catalog in the mail it would include the mini catalog and also the celebration brochure so that's super fun okay let's see what else i have a new set of technique classes coming um but as is often the case i don't manage to create far enough ahead so i had hoped by now i would know but i i don't so i haven't even picked the the technique the techniques yet for those three classes there will be one in august one in october and one in december um my plan is to do a survey i want to hear from you guys as to what kind of techniques you are interested in so i've got like done a brain brainstorm and i'm gonna send a survey i'll include a link here in the facebook group in my next newsletter please respond to that and give me your thoughts so i know what you would most like to see and um you know and then i'll go from there so um we are also entering right now the window when you can sign up for a subscription a subscription is basically a fee-for-service kind of thing for classes so you can buy all three of those classes up front the ones for october october i'm sorry august october and december up front and it saves you a little bit of money or you can join a club and you can get free product by purchasing product from me on those three respective months and then you get the class for free essentially so you're buying product instead of paying me a fee so those windows are opening uh through august 15th where you can sign up for a subscription for those three classes or a club and that really just helps me to know that i have people committed to taking the classes and i'm not wasting my time designing and putting all that together because it's a lot of work um so i just know that's coming soon in my next newsletter there should be details on that um all right i also um as you guys know have decided to discontinue my free card kit program in favor of focusing on my clubs that allows me a little bit more efficient use of my time because i'm um i know exactly who i'm sending kids to club members get double kits so two each of three designs and you get free product at the end of the club cycle so that's something that's happening now as well um august if you do it if you sign up for a club by august 4th i'm gonna send um you and current club members mind you those of you who are out there who are online club members um an additional little bonus and that's going to be 36 pieces that's actually a half a pack of designer series paper a four by six designer series series paper pieces they will be a medley of retired papers so just keep that in mind there are details on my website about club and basically it's way to get a free class to go every other month project gets in the mail i pay for shipping you purchase product and we're just like a happy little team so um something to learn about on my website if you're interested okay so getting to the prize winner for the your peach tutorial bundle um as i said i mentioned i asked you guys to comment if you were interested with the hashtag hashtag sss july 2021 and um and let me know what uh things sounded exciting to you about the maker's mojo creative escape which was two weeks ago friday no yeah two weeks from tomorrow i guess so with that before i announced the winner i wanted to just highlight we are actually as a team all the presenters we're offering um the event as an after the live opportunity uh it's five dollars more than it would be if you had participated in the live event um so it's 45 dollars but here are just some of the things that you get so 31 project variations or samples 17 techniques or variations on techniques five christmas in july samples two fun fold cards i feel like i'm singing the christmas song one photowalla project and flexible viewing so you'll get um nine written tutorials and nine video tutorials plus there's a welcome video that we're including it as well so um you can buy that after the live that was in my newsletter this past week um and so yeah it's a lot of awesome fun content anybody who was who's here on facebook who participated and one wants to share what you thought of it we got some great feedback feedback on our survey um people just seemed to love the event everybody who responded to the survey anyway um said really positive things about it which was wonderful because you know we work hard at this this stuff so um okay so there's that so the winner of the your a piece tutorial bundle you guys ready drum roll please i'm doing my own drum roll yay pam you loved it you were such an amazing contributor you shared ideas and your project samples and our albums i just i want to just give you a kiss you were awesome thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us in the group all right and pam was also a winner of one of the prize patrols yay pam okay so uh okay so the winner is you guys ready uh hopefully she's here i didn't see her name but uh it was oh yeah partridge in a pear tree yeah it out to me send me a message and let me know which tutorial bundle you want so yay suzanne congratulations all right so um let's see let's see let's see okay where are we the project yeah you guys ready so um like i said the inspiration for this project was a project sample from gosh it was probably like within the first year or two that i was a demonstrator um and i just love it so um it's actually fairly simple so i'm going to show you that sample and i'm going to show you one of my versions um to get started so you can kind of see where we're going and i'll talk talk you through it and tell you a little bit more about about the project and what we're using so let's turn us around all righty so we're also doing a little bit of a sneak peek uh let's see what's going on here man am i getting a little strange message on my screen hopefully you guys can see that um hi elizabeth good to see you here okay so we are going to be using on this project the elegantly said stamp set which is in the annual catalog that's actually fairly new came out with the new catalog just recently and this heartfelt wishes set i have not seen a stamp set like this with sentiments nice long scripty sentiments for a long time we used to have one a long time ago some of you guys may remember it and this project that i've been holding on to this card sample for a long time has a sort of a long sentiment right down the middle of it so i'm going to show you this project and i partly wanted to do this because it's sort of uh i don't know like a little design tour some tips and tricks and ideas of how i go about my design how i think things out how things change because as soon as you change out the sentiment the colors the images these are retired images things change so let's get started looking at my one of my versions so this was actually my first version this is the merry christmas from that same set i'm going to show you samples of all the primary big images in this done on cards in different color schemes before we're through tonight so you can see this is heat embossed so is that and that this is the image from the elegantly said so and we're going to work on a completely different color scheme for the one we're going to work on so that's just to tell you where we're going so for this one we're going to start with a piece of misty moonlight i wanted to do some that could be um you know for masculine purpose or you know as well so people are always looking for masculine cards so i figure blue is a good nice neutral color scheme and i love this misty moonlight so i've just run my embossing buddy over the top because i'm going to be heat embossing and i'm just going to grab my versamark this is the image we're used using from elegantly said it's not really like any of the other images in this set but i love like border type images and it's really delicate and pretty so i'm just gonna go ahead and ink this up and i'm going to stamp it actually we'll stamp on the bottom and you can pretty easily line it up but up against the bottom like that um because it's mo you know it's a linear image at the bottom so pretty super easy to get that happening well even on camera where i can't be right over the top of it so there we go so next up i'm going to heat emboss and i'm going to use my gold embossing powder so that one sample the original one and also the first version that i made was a christmas theme but this type of layout is just so easy to recreate in different looks right it's just elegant and it can be christmas it could be you know it could be anything you want birthday i mean the images that are in that set are you know with gratitude and sending love and i just i love how neutral those sentiments are um which is part of why i just had to have that stamp set when i when it came out um i mean when it i saw it first since it hasn't actually come out yet i can't even say it's come out okay so i'm going to go ahead and heat emboss i love watching heat embossing so we're just going to go ahead and do this so here we go and my plug is turned off let's fix that problem i have one of my my plugs on a switch there we go it always takes a minute for it to heat up so you might have noticed some basic differences between the design if you had a chance to look at it and compare and so i'm going to talk about that for just a minute after i'm not making so much noise can you guys see it changing i love watching it change let's get it under the light [Applause] check that out it's so pretty okay let's turn this off i know i haven't done the other side yet but just want you guys to see how pretty that is it's so delicate and pretty i love that image there we go that's even a better look so there you go so i would do the bottom side and because you know the magic of tv i've already done one i've finished one yay so now you can see both ends done okay so that's piece one now the next thing i'm going to do is i've got a piece of vellum vellum here and i'm going to be stamping a sentiment on this but with with vellum it takes a while for the ink to dry so i'm going to actually do some other things to this before i stamp my sentiment i'm going to make stamping my sentiment the absolute last thing i'm going to do so i'm going to start by tearing now my piece this piece right here was a scrap okay it was longer than this so i just trimmed it down but if you're doing this at home you may want a wider scrap because it's a little bit harder to tear with a smaller piece than with a larger piece and so that you know i'm going to tell you this piece is about one and a half inches wide so to give yourself a little bit more latitude you might want it to be wider than that and then it's five and a quarter long but because it's it's um was a scrap and it make you know i like to use scraps i'm just going to use it so what i have to do is take my my fingernails and i'm just going to be pulling off towards me the littlest bit of a strip on the end and i'm going to get a fairly regular shape on my tear but you know with some natural irregularities which i like and my fingernails are sort of key here to control the ripping of the paper now i do want to be ripping this vellum towards me and that allows us to see a little bit of the inside of the fibers of that paper that's left over because we don't care if this has the inside of the fibers right we care about the one that's facing us that's facing up so we're gonna do the same thing on the other side and again just pinching the paper between my fingers and controlling the tear as i go down the whole thing so where did i put my well there it is okay all right so just so you have this in front of you so you can see that's the original inspiration design that i'm starting with right this piece is a little bit fatter because my sentiment is bigger than the what what is on here so um accommodating the size of my sentiment of course and then for this one i'm going to use this sentiment much gratitude i love that script and i love how big it is and bold and it really just becomes the center of my card all right so i'm going to actually stamp that but before i do it i'm going to do what i said i'm going to do and that is do another step before i stamp my sentiment so i got my misti moonlight ink pad my blending brush and i'm just going to ink that up and i'm going to make a really messy pretty you know pretty pattern here on the paper um and so you could actually use this as a mask on a background piece if you really wanted to so i'm starting off the edge of the vellum and coming on to it so that i get kind of a nice wispy shape on there and the darkest bit of ink is actually on my scrap paper i'm getting more of my scrap paper than i think i am on my vellum and that's okay because i want what i want on my vellum is what's important right okay and then i'm just gonna with not a lot of ink on there just kind of blend that a little bit and check out what's left over isn't that fun i love i love sponging i love putting ink on paper with torn pieces all right so now we're going to do the other side same thing i can do circles or i can do sort of straight in multiple times bottom line just want that ink mostly at the edge and sort of fading in towards the center leaving the center of my vellum mostly whitish i say whitish so there there's what i got that looks like it needs a little bit of blending now the other thing that's funny about vellum is because the ink stays wet on it if you um actually get a little bit of ink somewhere where you don't want it you can actually lick your finger and just kind of rub it off and it comes off pretty easily which is funny okay so there's my piece of vellum you can see it up against the white and the edges are nice and pretty and subtle and blue that lovely misty moonlight that i just love okay so now we can go ahead and stamp our sentiment i'm going to do the with much gratitude and i am going to use stazon because this is a red rubber stamp and again this stamp set called heartfelt wishes will be in the mini catalog that goes live on august 3rd when celebration goes live and if you guys you're not familiar with what celebration is uh just know that for each 50 you spend in product you get to pick a free celebration item and there was a celebration brochure with a bunch of different choices that you have and look what i did i got a little edge the first one i've gotten a little edge on let's see if my trick works with stays on not so much uh look it's working on my blue dang [Laughter] hey when that happens okay let's do this we're gonna we're gonna blend my blue a little bit since i modeled that up and then we're going to see about bringing in my sanding oh there it is i love this little tool sand eraser it's called um it helps remove ink where it doesn't belong so let's see if it actually gets rid of that um extra stazon where it didn't wasn't supposed to be so usually and i did do that with this with these stamps i'll show you my stamps in a second i trim off some of the excess rubber because this is what happens if you get ink on the edge of the rubber that's not the stamp so you can see a bunch of it is coming off probably enough to make make it really acceptable so look it's mostly gone love that and i am going to just blend this a little bit that ink we're going to pretend that's not there we'll never even notice it after a little while right okay so there we go we're going with that okay so i'm not going to touch the black of that sentiment because if you look at it you can see it's still a little bit a little bit shiny and when i tested some of these um earlier when i was making them uh the ink stayed dry for a good i don't know 15 minutes or something and i even dried it lightly with my heat tool so um definitely just best to set it aside not not mess with it for a little while to help it to dry okay so i've got a basic black card body i've got a piece of misty moonlight that's four by five and a quarter maybe a tiny hair less and i'm just placing that on my card front and then i've got a piece of black this is going to be the backing to my heat embossed piece dimensionals on the back side and of course i've got adhesive on all these pieces removed my backings just to make it super easy and then i've got my finished piece with the heat embossing on each of the edges now this is probably a good time for me to point out that on the original design i didn't have these extra layers right the stamping was done directly on this large four by five and a quarter inch panel the reason for that of course is because these images are so much bigger and with these really thin delicate images um i um i had a lot more space to work with and the scale of things changed so the design kind of got adapted to accommodate the fact that this um straight edge image that i was using from the elegantly said stamp set just kind of needed something different right needed to sort of be broken up because those shapes got kind of lost on a big piece that was this size so that's sort of how i readjusted my design i did play with it for a little while but it came together fairly quickly so you can see where i'm going with this now i am going to pull in some little embellishments now these are actually uh brads from way back when we used to have breads stampin up did anybody remember that and uh we don't have brands anymore but we have all kinds of lovely adhesive-backed embellishments so i pulled out these these are actually brand new they're going to be in the mini catalog these brushed metallic adhesive um back dots i just love them you can see i've used a lot of the gold ones i may use more gold ones here but i also pulled in these um in color gems because it's got the misty moonlight in there and i thought well maybe those would look fun too so let's just try it out on all the other designs i used the gold um dots from here but let's just try this for the heck of it because i have not finished a card in this blue color scheme yet so you're seeing it happen live so let's see what we think this is what i did with my daughter this afternoon she was helping me decide on stuff should i use this one or she used that one so we're just gonna i think the blue is a little too small if i'm gonna use that one let's try the big one and then we'll put a gold one on here too and then i expect you guys to chime in because i like to hear from you guys see what you think so i'm going to use another the small gold and i'm putting one on each end so you can tell me what you think i already know what i think i just have to try different things i don't know about you guys but i'm a visual visual person so i have to see it on there to know what i think of it so i just brought the light in so you can see a little bit better um oh yes bonnie used brad so many times yes i know i love brad's it was fun and eyelets too right yes bonnie i agree gold elizabeth yes gold mj gold yes i keep wanting something else to work but you know the gold just wins out i was even toying with using copper embossing powder instead now one thing that might be really pretty something to try i mean the gold is just beautiful but you could also try white white embossing powder would probably be really pretty because it would be so crisp you'd of course probably want to use a white card base instead of you know bring it in the black so it would be white with a color and it would just it would brighten it all up a whole lot so just some food for thought so in the end i think i have how many designs like five different versions of this in different colors and it all started with this little card okay so now i need to attach my vellum strip and because adhesive can show through the vellum i am going to go ahead and roll up a glue dot which works just perfectly fine and those brads or whatever they're called the adhesive dots serve a purpose right i can put a little glue dot right behind my adhesive back dot and no one's going to know and then the other thing it does is since i'm rolling it up so it's small enough to fit behind that dot that adhesive back dot it's going to give it a little lift as well so there's my piece now another little tip i will give you when i design something like this where i've got three layers that are all the same width so i've got my my vellum my blue my black i cut them at the same time so i put in my cutter at the same time and that way i can be pretty sure that they're actually going to be the right width so there is my finished misty moonlight version i love that blue who loves the blue i do oh you actually liked the blue the blue embellishments christy looking at your comment they are fun fun embellishments okay we're gonna have a clean spot here so there's my blue so um just to bring back that original sample in here so um what i see my mission in part to kind of help you guys get to the fun faster right and to in the process share with you thoughts about how i came up with the design why i chose what i did so you can you see how this little thin image would probably get lost on a big piece like that so i brought in this second element to kind of narrow it down a little bit oh yes mj you're a blue girl yes this is such a beautiful blue i'm gonna be so sad when it goes away at least we have it for another year right everything is better in blue i like that okay so i'm going to show you the other designs this one is actually pretty dark but i do love it it's very elegant so that's the evening evergreen this is the biggest boldest sentiment in the in the set and then i'm going to show you another christmas one i did one in cherry cobbler and this is the other holiday themed sentiment in their happiest holidays and that's again it's the gold uh with cherry cobbler and then i've got this one you know i had the guys in mind the blue and the and this soft suede i had the guys in mind something a little bit more um oh i don't know just less girly probably wouldn't do the red but of course these are christmas or you know holidays so so there's my um soft suede and then last but not least one of my my favorite color purple and i just had to use that sending love sentiment on there um i think that that worked beautifully with the purple this is gorgeous grape which i adore um so there you go there are my five different designs super easy when i decided on which colors to use i really thought about um which colors would good look good with a metallic so in this case the gold but you could pick something that went with copper or like i said you could do the white as well and it would be really pretty so one last quick little thing this right here when i was doing the cherry cobbler one because i was getting all those cool patterns with the uh when i was sponging the vellum when i was adding color to the belt vellum oh susan you like the purple too yes you were waiting for the purple to show nancy yes you know me all right so uh i decided to do my vellum on this piece of card stock and play around with you know leaving an empty space there so this good you know i could stamp a sentiment in there and you know this could become its own card right i could do a white layer on the outside and maybe i bring a ribbon in or something anyway just wanted to show you that as i was noodling around thought about doing it for all of them but managed to only do it with the cherry cobbler all right and then of course this was that original inspiration card thank you uh wherever this idea came from it you know this look at that it looks like it's brand new right this card has been around for uh like 17 years i've been demonstrated for 18 years looks just like it did when we when i first made it um all righty what else do i need to share with you guys okay we'll bring that stamp set back in heartfelt wishes i think this is a must-have and it's got great sentiments for the inside as well so stay tuned for that coming in the mini and then of course elegantly said um and let's turn the camera around do some finishing up and then we'll go from there okay so are you guys on the hashtag stamping at 92. i saw some of you guys commented in the beginning but if you missed it or you came in late um i told everybody i'm going to visit my mom who's 92 she's a stamper but she hasn't stamped it a long time and i'm trying to convince her that she needs to stamp with me and i need you guys to cheer her on if you guys are stamping at 92 or you profess that you will be maybe it'll convince her that she needs to play with her daughter when i go visit her so um yeah we're going to have a nice time she asked me to bring some recipes my favorite recipes so i'm apparently i'm going to be making some some food for her and i'm excited to share some of that with her she she apparently likes my cooking so that's good yay all right so uh i guess final reminders make sure to use the hashtag stamping92 and um oh i forgot to mention product shares oh my gosh how did i forget that so um uh product shares end on august 1st so the early bird deadlines already passed um lots of people took advantage of that but i have nine product shares to choose from eight of them are based on sweets and uh it's a way to get a medley of products from a given suite for the suites that are in the upcoming mini catalog so you have to choose them before the catalog goes live so you have to commit by august 1st rsvp there's a link on my website to sign up so there's a product shirts tab the second choice down is the current product shares go to that page it'll tell you everything you need to know there's even a video showing on almost all of the products in all of the product shares so check that out if you're interested and make sure to reserve your shares before it's too late they are the best thing since sliced bread i love my product shares a little bit of everything right i like to go to the buffet and get a little bit of everything i go to dinner and i like to share a dish don't make me eat just one thing i want more than one [Music] all right that's a little bit about me um okay so i will be back you guys know i'm doing facebook live every other week so i'll be skipping next week i'll be with my mom anyway i won't have my equipment to do there but the next facebook live will be on august 12th and these projects with dimensions and supplies will be in a blog post on my website on saturday um and in the evening and it'll also go live on youtube so if you're watching on youtube yay thank you for being here thanks for watching the replay um and uh yeah so there's there's that's that that's about what i got to say so uh thank you so much for joining me for being here tonight for watching and learning and sharing with me and um i'll see you in a couple of weeks bye everybody stamping in 92 [Music] bye everybody
