happy Facebook lifetime I am Melissa Kerman with Melissa's crafting treehouse here with my weekly Facebook live I'm here every Thursday at 7 p.m. and then I post my videos to YouTube so you can watch either live or on the replay either on Facebook or on YouTube yay I am a Stampin Up demonstrator been a demonstrator for 17 years just had my anniversary just a little while ago in March and I love the craft and love to share it with all of you so I am got a regular full agenda today with announcements and projects and I had a little creative bliss moment this afternoon so I can categorize this project today as a creative bliss project so much fun it's that little giddy feeling that I get when I'm creating and sort of have a little discovery excuse me so I'll start go ahead and start with announcements hi Dean welcome good to see you here see others here but wait till people chime in hi Robin so good to have you here yay okay well I'm just gonna launch him with announcements I'll try to catch hellos in comments as I go so as you guys may know paper pump I'm sorry what are we saying celebration is almost over yay Laura Lee you made it so celebration it's almost over less than a week so it's gonna be over next Tuesday so we have gotten used to getting freebies with all of our orders and that's gonna go away what about you guys but I love getting freebies so that's how we're soon a little bit more on that just a sec so if you are a paper pumpkin subscriber or want to be a subscriber it's a great option to get it as prepaid kits because when you get three or more you can actually do it prepaid and and get celebration benefits too so that's often that's so very fun hi Kathleen yay okay I saw somebody else's yes it was uh darn I saw Barbara I saw the name flash bye hi Sharon welcome so good to see people joining in all right so that's my little spiel on paper pumpkin good time to buy it you can pre-order and get celebration benefits before they are gone the end of the month okay so let's see what else there are slice shipping delays it's Stampin Up there doing staggered shifts and doing some things to protect their employees from getting you know coronavirus of course hi Christy yay to have you here and and so the shipping is incentive typically it's every you know you from when you order it takes typically two days to ship now it's more like four or five days to ship all for a good reason we want to protect the sample of employees so they can you know keep keeping their jobs and keep sending us crafting fun so all for a good reason okay see let's what else so as of this past Tuesday Stampin Up did their third release for celebration items so there are now ten new items actually from the annual catalog that are free gifts for celebration for this last week some of those there's three different designer series papers you can get some embellishments there's a punch the butterfly duet punch well a pair of blends so nice to have some new freebies as we finish up celebration hi Patti hi Tina yay glad to see you here so definitely check those out I have a link do I have a link on my website I don't know that I have yet because I don't think I've posted since this went live on Tuesday but I will have a link in the Facebook description and then tomorrow when the project that I'm sharing today goes live I'll have that in tomorrow's post so you can look there for those things or on the Stampin Up website of course let's see so I am doing a special so I did one for my 17 year anniversary and I've done a variety of is over this past couple of months and I had had the goal of trying to reach this sales milestone because it stampin'up given us bonuses when we reached certain sales milestones and there is a quarterly sales milestone that I've only reached I think I said in my newsletter twice but in honesty I think I realized I've only actually done it once and I thought I was going to try to do it this quarter and I had given up on it but because I have you know had some extra sales with classes and some of you participated in my 17 year anniversary special I'm actually closer than I thought and so I'm going for this goal and so that's it I have another special that I'm offering for this last week of celebration so it will end as of March 31st and try to make it really generous to incentivize you guys to purchase if you are so inclined take advantage of some of the new celebration items and get celebration items for me so this is how I'm doing it it's it was in my newsletter but bottom line is for every order of $50 or more you're gonna get cards from me so card samples and so the minimum you're gonna get if you spend $50 you're gonna get 10 sample cards from my stash so depending on how much you spend you either 10 15 or 20 cards in the mail so that's one of the gifts the other is free celebration items so at 50 you'll get one from Stampin Up but when you get to 75 in merchandise I'll send you a level one item two now you get to pick and I have items that I've accumulated over during celebration so you'll get to pick from my stash you know it's a first come first serve kind of thing so the sooner you or the more likely you're going to get the celebration item that you want and I'm giving a level one set at certain sales points and a level two item at other sales points and and then I'm also I also have some of the little ladybug stamp set to give away now you can normally only get that when you spend $300 for as a hostess but what I'm doing is if you spend $200 you're gonna get that little stamp set plus celebration benefits from stampin'up plus cards for me and all those details for my newsletter if you don't receive my newsletter subscribe I will make sure to forward that email to you and I just really excited at the possibility that I might reach the sales goal I'm still I still got a good ways to go but it's close enough so it's I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so if you feel some kind of order I would so appreciate the help getting to my goal okay so let's see what else oh and I should also tell you that regardless of your purchase level you'll still get free card kits from me in the mail and you'll still get to take loyalty leaves points for each $50 she spends so that that's you know there's details about that on my website too so check it out alright so today's project I'm gonna like go right into what we're making was is a variation or case shall we say from well it's I guess he's technically a demonstrator so at some of you may know Kylie Bertucci chimed in and just shout you know make up the leave a comment if you know Kylie Bearse Ruchi she's a demonstrator in Australia and she her co demonstrator a partner demonstrator what was he called I remember you can sort of supporting demonstrate that's what's called supporting demonstrator is her husband and he's pretty talented actually so I watched one of their videos the other day and he came up with this technique that was inspired by a print that I think an artist friend of theirs gave to them and I thought it was really beautiful I love finding sources of inspiration for creativity you know anywhere in the world it can be product packaging it can be a scene out in nature you know anyway and all kinds of things there's lots of ways to find inspiration for creativity so I loved what I saw him do so anyway and they are really cute together Kylie and Bruno Bruno is her husband Bruno Bertucci's so I am doing a technique that he called let's see you have to look at my nose happy strip this cap scrappy strip technique it's kind of a funny technique and a mouthful and alliteration so I'm going to be doing that my own variation and some sort of spin-off ways to think about how to do it so I had a lot of fun with that this afternoon someone to share that with you and I have of course done some little I can't read the word anyway we're gonna do it quick I'm not gonna he actually took about an hour to show the project so I'm not gonna do that I have some some steps I've skipped and I'm gonna jump forward and show you so I'm gonna turn the camera down I know I see other people joining and I haven't had a chance to say hello but I will catch you after the live I will comment and say hello to those of you haven't had a chance to so I'm gonna switch us down and we'll go from get started on the project let's say I'm gonna face you there's my beautiful displays and on the table I've laid out all my card kits or at least some of them that I'm setting up to prepare to mail to people for orders that have come in so a little sneak peek of my production process there okay so facing down on my table so the other thing that we're highlighting today that I'm super excited about and I didn't even mention it in my announcements and I must is this lovely tool so I'm gonna be using this a bunch this is the mini trimmer that you can get when you buy the starter kit now through March 31st so it's one of the perks that you get and you get a couple other perks as well because it's celebration so you also get a sampler of designer series paper for th 6x6 sheets and you need to pick any stamp set from the catalog so it's you know last chance stamp for the celebration is always the best time to join because the perks are the best so you're gonna see this baby in action today which is super fun alright so here's what I did so I told you in the description that I'm using the designer series paper that is the ornate garden designer series paper I have some scraps here that I've trimmed so I used the color scheme from that paper and a little bit of a variation I cut pieces of cardstock that were at the beginning five and a half by eight and a half and I've been using these pieces of cardstock as I've played with the designs that I'm showing you today so essentially it's it's perfect for this technique to use the little trimmer and you're essentially just gonna cut a bunch of strips that are sort of angled pieces in lots of different directions and I usually like to do maybe two strips of each color that I'm playing with and I know there's no particular dimension you may want to do some that are like very pointy and maybe some that are more sort of rectangle ish although I don't generally use ones that are that look exactly perfectly the perfect strip so we're gonna throw that one away and then so I'm gonna come in with a couple of other colors now I've mixed up the colors a little bit so what I have here is the terracotta tile that's in the designer paper mint macaron and because I like the pretty peacock with the mint I decided to do a little bit of that as well to some big pieces small pieces doing some random cutting I'm gonna set this stuff aside and then you're gonna take a piece of cardstock and you can use any size that you want really but I'm gonna use this piece that's 4 and 1/8 by 5 and 3/8 you're gonna cut it down so it's really not so crucial how big it is but you do want your strips to be longer than the piece of cardstock yeah okay I see Karen you've seen the card bye-bye Bruno yeah she did versions very fun okay so I know I cut a bunch of these strips right so I did the terracotta tile and then I added some Cajun craze in there because I liked that one Old Olive is in the designer paper and then I added in crushed curry because there's a yellow in the designer paper that is actually a new in color so we haven't actually seen it except for in the designer paper and the closest I could come to looking like that was this crushed curry so I cut a bunch of those now one of the things that would be it's handy is to do this on a what are these little mats called we sell these somebody out they remind me what this is called mmm driving me crazy I carry what I can't find words somebody out there's gonna say it I know you are okay so anyway I'm gonna start by taking one of my strips I've actually already attached it and I want it to be justified far to the left it needs to be the silicon-silicon pad yeah I guess there you go thank you guys thank you Barbara and Christy so you're going to justify so that it's flush up against that one side this is an important step and pretty sure that this is exactly what Bruno did but when I went to go recreated it just made sense to do now I've also just like I cut strips of my cardstock I've also cut some strips of designer paper as I showed you here now because I didn't want this to take an hour I have actually sort of designed my layout already so that I won't have to think and toil because it can be kind of time-consuming so I've taken my designer paper and I'm just I've cut pieces and I laid them out to be how I liked them and you know I tend to sort of fuss and toil with my design so if I were doing it from scratch without pre-planning it we'd be here for a long time so now we're you have play here is I've got this long strip right and I can decide if I want to you know bring it down so that I have hold on I have adhesive on the backside already by the way that's part of why it's good to have it on the silicone pads so it doesn't stick to your paper so I can make it what use the full width of the top or I can justify it so that the point is down at the bottom depending on how much you want of this to show so now for mine I think for this one I want the more of the of the narrow portion on my paper and now I'm bringing in a piece of the designer paper now I've done a few of these with just regular cardstock as well and I'm going to show you those versions also and I'm just spacing it now when I did these before I actually use a little bit of white glue or the multi-purpose liquid glue but because I wanted this to be an efficient way to show you I just reduced regular adhesive on the backside using my ATG gun and if you guys don't know what that is I'm gonna show it to you my crazy massive adhesive dispenser I love my ATG gun so okay moving right along okay so now I've got a piece of old olive and I like it when like I've got three of them here that are kind of all going to in one direction this one this designer paper is more almost regular strip of cardstock it doesn't have too much of an angle at it to it but because I'm putting it at an angle next to the green it's not necessarily going to look like that and now I've got a piece of the crushed curry so I played with the widths of all these just to get some variation so I'm putting this one down lower because I want I want this width to be wider than that one just to mix it up so it doesn't look too matchy-matchy now I have used sort of alternated between cardstock and designer paper some cases I've got two pieces of cardstock in between I'm just dependent on what I liked in the way of my look now this is turning out a little bit different than okay I'm gonna do this I'm going to I have an extra piece of cardstock that doesn't look like it's gonna fit part of it just the way I've attached these pieces and I want that color on the end so let me just see if I could squeeze it in okay and the color on the end is the terracotta tile and I am gonna cut off some of the ends so it's I'll just show a little bit of it so there is my finished semi finished assembly of my strips okay so now what I'm gonna do because I have one straight edge and that's the crucial part bring in my little mini cutter and this fits perfectly in here because I have a height six inches to play with so I'm gonna actually stick it in upside down so that I can have to do it this way because I have to take advantage of that straight edge and just put it in so that I'm gonna trim off those scrappy edges don't you love that and I might trim that a little bit more once I've gone around the sides okay now this side and I'm actually think I'm gonna have to cut off that a little bit more lots of little pieces there did that come across this really loud to you guys I hope not lots of scraps ooh I got a nice thin little piece there that's kind of fun okay and then last but not least woohoo that looks so pretty what do you guys think I love it it's even prettier than I thought it was gonna be so and then of course I can decide which way I want to go and what this to be up or I want that to be up it's so pretty oh my gosh I'm so happy so it's very funny when you do this right because you think and have this thing that looks kind of messy and you got all the and sticking off the side and kind of looks interesting and funky and I'll show you another one I did earlier so here's another one right all the odd edges but then when you trim it up it looks so pretty I just love it okay so now I need a black card base i pre-cut my black card base as i use them so often yeah this I just I'm actually really I mean it was looking pretty with all those strips but I think it even looks prettier now okay so now I may need to trim this down just a little bit more let's see how it fits on here yeah I think I need to trim it off the sides so that it got more of an even edge and then I'm gonna do a sentiment gauge how much I need so I'm having fun with this little mini trimmer and that looks about right that'll do okay so now sentiment wise I played with a couple of different things with the ornate thanks set so this is one of the sets that are part of the ornate garden sweet little scraps um the things that get me excited do you do those things kind of things get you guys excited to just kind of think it's so cool I'm just okay so sentiment so I played around with a bunch of the sentiments in the set so I did little thin strips so they'd have some choices for what I wanted to do I'm using the mint macaron for the so you guys chime in and tell me what you like that's very big so grateful and then let's see what else I also have this so now for my sentiments I did three sizes I thought you might want to make a note of them just for fun so for this one my sentiment height if you will is 3/8 of an inch and it's backed by a piece that's a half an inch strip and then this one is a half inch backed by a 5/8 inch strip and then this is 5/8 backed by a 3/4 inch strip if you followed any of that I'll have that on my website tomorrow so and now I also wanted to trim off a piece too let's see that would be my half inch strip so this one is just the right width the width that I want so if you have this trimmer one thing to be aware of that I discovered as I was doing that this is there's a little bit of distance you know how to describe this between the metal piece and the blade so if you push it up against here it's not actually this measurement you have to actually have it you have to actually base it on the measurement here not on pressing up against here does that make sense does anybody understand that so right now it measures 4 inches on this side and if I have this closed and I push up against there you see there's that much of a gap so I hope that my hope that makes sense it was helpful to me when I was doing this to make sure I was cutting the right size pieces so what I'm cutting now is a 1/2 inch piece and I'm going to stamp this thanks sentiment with my memento ink and then I'm gonna choose which sentiment I want and I hope you guys are giving me oh yes you are giving me opinion so grateful you like okay you like the big thank you okay I have to comment more people comment cuz I need tiebreakers so I can get that straight on yeah I'm gonna bring it way down here so much for you guys seen it's just hard to see I usually get my head right over it that's a little better yay so I also love this Thanks sentiment and I don't I've told you before that I keep lots of stress around and I do that with black as well because I use thin straps scraps a lot so these are my half-inch scraps so my backings for one of the sizes my 5/8 inch scraps and my three quarter inch scraps so come and came in very handy for doing all these little sentiments here so I need one of my half-inch I'm sorry my 5/8 inch for the thanks and I'm just going to trim that down and this one is two and a quarter inches so I'm going to bring it to two and 3/8 inches for my backing and then we'll see how that one looks I'm really loving these bold sentiments with this this scrappy technique okay so let's see what you guys all think of this one thank you for chiming in everybody on your opinions so I either thanks just a little bit sort of demure like that and then you can also do something like um you know you made my day or Thanks you made my day [Laughter] [Music] no no that's kind of fun so I'll just say that to all you guys thanks for being here you made my day I love all these sentiments I kind of like that what do you guys think no I have to give you time to respond okay so while I give you time to respond I'm gonna show you my one finished card so I did this one just wanted to say thanks so real simple same basic color scheme but I used some gold in there and then again the mint macaron pretty peacock old olive and the terracotta tile and cajun craze or not Cajun craze crushed curry that's the crushed curry so there's my two variations and then I had a really fun little happy accident happened so I'm going to design as we go on this next version this was my my creative bliss moment I'm just gonna forewarn you so there's my two so far okay so I was messing around and I did I did this one right here okay so I was I had one that was like this right with the sides not cut off yet and I cut off one of the sides of this second one and then I was looking at it was like oh that's kind of a cool end I wonder what it would look like if I put it up against some black instead of cutting it off and I went whoa that's pretty cool and I had thought well maybe I could you know cut it in half you know after I trimmed off the end but in this case I think what I'm gonna do because I was playing with this and I really love this little end element is I'm gonna cut off about two inches of the end and I may actually design with that as well so we'll just hopefully it's not too much I'm afraid I'm gonna cut off too much that let's see these take a little while to put together so you know once you cut it off okay I'm gonna do one in 7/8 inches off the edge now this is a fun little scrap that's going to be so much fun to use on something and this one this is what I have in mind for it it's gonna go like that and then your other piece go I'm gonna use a strip of black right there okay so this is what I have in mind is that okay get ready to chime in everybody opinions use the mint macaron ribbon there's two option one or you can use one of the ribbons that is part of the suite which is always a nice thing to do this ribbon this mint macaron ribbon is so pretty and of course it goes really well with this color scheme and then there's the pair of ribbon that comes in the suite is the terracotta tile and the old olive so let's try the terracotta tile first some watching for your comments and thoughts about how that which one you like or if you like them there's that and then there's the old olive so I've thought I would just tie it there you love it with the ribbon yay thank you something Thank You Joanne thank you for letting me know can we leave that there for a second keep looking at comments and then what I had in mind as I was playing with this having my little creative bliss moment this afternoon I said I would take one of my sentiments and I was trying to find a place where to put the sentiment and it just was not happening you know it's like yeah it's just weird so then I then I was just messing with it it's like what about putting it in line with that and have it sort of be part of that those that linear design with in the comments looking at comments okay so I have a vote for the mint and I think have a vote for the for the terracotta tile you're partial to the green oh my gosh people now what am I gonna do mmm let's see now I have to look at him again so what do you guys think of that sentiment there does it work is it kind of cool and then I was thinking you could take the words in this set you know if you wanted to go crazy and you could like create a sentence like you know just let's see what where would we do what would we do here seriously you made my day you're amazing you know you could just like stamp it on the little lines kind of seems fun doesn't it yes creative moment most definitely Dean and I was kind of struggling with it too and so when I kind of laid this out it's like that's pretty fun so I might just go with that let me I have to put the mint macaron back on there and see because I think for me I'm deciding between the mint and the old olive such a conflict well I think I'm gonna go for the mint I mean the old olive because it's part of the suite so somehow it just seems like the right thing to do all right so I'm just gonna put this baby together now that you've all helped me decide okay so now you can see I've got black only on part of it but it's not going to show because it's gonna be up against the black so I might just have to like reach out to Bruno and Kylie and be like hey guys the clip look what you inspired me to do so much fun we get such fun creative inspiration from other crafters I do okay good like that I found a card I was looking through my cards cuz I was picking okay which cards can I part with and I have many cards I had lots of lots to choose from and there's this great sentiment it was actually sentiment from celebration last year and it was something about being inspired by by others so let's try tying this on and see what it looks like either that or flat on this might just make it a little bit busy so we'll see I'm watching you guys's comments you like that you have stamping on the strips Oh yours is arriving tomorrow I can't see who said that but yay how fun doing here as long as I can we'll see whether we like that I'll show it to you without without the tie also and see what you think okay grabbing a scissors over here this ribbon is so pretty and it's kind of the perfect size it's very thin and easy to work with and move that up just a little and then this would be tucked right in there so hmm not sure how I feel about the tie who likes the tie okay don't like it down lower we're gonna try this other thing I'm gonna put it on the inside to see what it looks like if it's just flat on there you see how I'm bowing the cardstock you guys ever do that just gently bowing it so you can move the ribbon around so which is better with the tie or without the tie I have to put it on top I'm looking for votes hmm I don't know can it go back and forth I might just have to decide off-camera and surprise you whenever I take a photograph of is what I'll settle on looking yeah not so sure all right you know this is one of those things where I just have to stew on it for a little bit so won't just sit on it I'm gonna leave it like that for the moment but how about this one I like that thanks you made my day I'm gonna just do it I'm committing so I've got this other strip here you guys this one right here so throw out your ideas what do you think I should do with that how should I attach it what should it be on give me ideas because that has to become a card of some kind right I was thinking it would be fun to you know do it on the edge and then maybe I could do like a bunch of words on here or I could do a sentiment down at the bottom doesn't look so pretty I love it yay oh good Thank You Megan I'm glad you like that combination you old all up in the mint which way did I want it and go through that way I am just absolutely loving this designer paper done in this way anybody else do you guys have a favorite about these little designs here so much fun so incidentally I've been playing with this new suite almost exclusively for the last couple of days and that's got to get some little help getting tack down there and it's going to be what I'm using for the next technique class which will be coming in April so I should say late in April dang this is hard to do I'm going to get a little bit adhesive on there without making a big ol mess okay I'm off camera I'm doing it off camera where I can see better I'll be back in a second okay much better god I get that tiny little strip so it's down before I put my sentiment down onto it then we'll be able to mess with it there we go I think that'll do it what's quite the rage right now this sweet Amish fabric art interesting I'm gonna have to go look that up it's so fun I am just loving this I hope you guys are too it's been very very fun to play with some as I was saying I'm my technique class in April's gonna use this set and I may even do a product based class with it too because it is just really awesome really really fun set to play with and great images great dies so stay tuned for that and the technique is something that is brand new my very own never seen before technique that I named by myself so stay tuned for more information about that I am going to turn the camera back say my final remarks and let you guys go on your merry way here we go so weird I should face the other way while I do this crazy step put my chest in the camera crazy stuff alrighty hi I'm back get the camera facing the right way okay very good so now I'm so excited I can't wait to read your comments because I so distracted when I'm you know trying to create and show you guys stuff but I will have all these projects within photographs tomorrow on my blog blog posts with dimensions and all the products that I've used and of course starting April 1 if you're not a demonstrator you can buy the ornate garden products products sweets so it's from the sweet is from the annual catalog but it's an early release so it's available to customers as of April 1st includes two stamp sets two sets of dies designer paper oh I forgot to show you it now it's gonna maybe consider using these these are really fun these might show up on one of the designs that I showed you if I can find a place for them some of them have some gold on it so that could work so anyway yeah it's a great sweet and let's see what else see if I've forgotten anything my notes over here I'll have links in the facebook description to things that I've mentioned here today and of course I'll be back next Thursday April 2nd for my next Facebook live and don't
