hi there this is Jacqueline foro and we travel around the world seeking highquality rare wines that are not yet present in the US market today let's talk about Barbara a great variety that gives a very interesting red wine Barbara's Origins are to be found in Italy specifically in pedmont a region located in the northwest of the country known for being home in the kings of red wines Baro and barbaresco today Barbara's value most in the areas of AI and Alba however it actually originates from the moner area specifically in the province of Alexandria today Barbara is now widely spread throughout the country of Italy in fact it is one of Italy's five most planted native grape varieties and it is the third most common red grape to be found in Italy Barbara is not only popular in Italy but it is also widely cultivated in other parts of the world it is one of the top 15 most planted grape varieties around the world so what's the secret to the success of barara well first and foremost it's a very productive grape variety and it grows easily in different soils and climates then of course it's the quality of the wines it gives that leads to its success Barbara wines are generally very concentrated in color they have low tannins and a nice high acidity however because Barbara's main characteristics is its strong acidity it's not easy to make a good Barbara wine it's important to find a balance between the acidity and the other flavors in order to create a harmonious and well-rounded wine when tamed correctly this high acidity makes Barbara an ideal pairing for any meal making it very versatile and delicious for to use in the kitchen but not all Barbara are created equal small variations in terar can significantly impact the flavor Pro profile of Barbara wines this highlights unique qualities of each individual area or Vineyard to make very different wines at Vero we highly appreciate these variations and we provide a wide range of Barbara options from pedmont that can cater to your preferences evaldi Dario a small certified sustainable Winery located in the birthplace of Barbara the mon ferat this is where Barbara is King and they produce two different types of Barbara Wines in the hilly provinces of ATI and Alexandria specifically they make the picona Barbara dasti and the 1613 nit Barbera which is made only with the best of the Barbara clusters a nit dog orom orig is like a Barbara Reserva and is by law required to undergo extra aging than a normal Barbara DTI or Barbara de Alba would in the province of ATI Kaz quarini gives us a natural spin to Barbara located in Costillo leasi this sixth generation Winery was until recently helmed by biodynamic Legend Lorenzo Corino and you can learn about him in our recent video here they work in a minimal intervenous style making several wines that include Barbara in various degrees as a part of various Blends these Blends can range from Aila where Barbara is Blended with nebiolo to Brio and Nilda where it is Blended with other local pontes varieties sometimes in a field blend but the real gem is Bara where 100% Barbara shines from 95-year-old Vines and nearly 3 years of barrel aging moving on to my home the Lang there is the small traditional wine maker Aldo clerico that makes a delicious Barbara dala that could really be considered a Barbara Superior because it goes through 14 to 16 months of Aging in Oak bik this wood aging helps to tame the acidity all while maintaining containing the juiciness the typical of the Barbara grape and finally the Pano Winery offers a very delicious Barbara organically farmed unfiltered and aged and neutral Oak with no sulfites added and Native yeast fermentation the winery is located in basa movi in the southernmost part of the long close to the Alps so that's it for our little tour in the world of Barbara you'll find all the wines I mentioned in this video in our Vero shop at verino and the links are in the description below I'll check you out in the next video bye-bye
