hello this is steve from bedo's leather works and today's project is this very cool holy grail of shoes to some people these are alden ravelo shell cordovan long wing bloochers long wing is basically comes all the way to the back like that the design see that w right there or the wings now this is a brand new shoe even though it's a holy grail of shoes to some people the customer wants to take it a step further we're going to do basically we're going to re take everything off the bottom we're going to replace the welt with a light color welt light color stitching add some brass eyelets jr soles jr heels and basically kind of customize him a little bit and he just has an idea of what they should look like and um he's going to get what he wants all right let's get started all right let's see who we can trigger today it's kind of a shame to break into new shoes but hey man this is what it is you know i love aldens i got a pair on these are my other indie boots no they're not my old ones my old ones are kind of waiting for resurrection i was saying i love aldens but sometimes the manufacturer does take a little bit of shortcuts here and there what shortcuts you may ask i heard somebody say that well the heel blocks are fiberboard it's midsoles fiberboard i don't know just it's just not cool that's all but listen this is what it is like i said earlier you guys here though they're finally waking up so and juice like that we've got the shoe part i see that plastic right there that plastic basically is the shoe gets wrapped before the welt goes on so just to protect the uppers so once everything gets finished they put a slightest they slide they slide a thin piece of hot tool to cut that plastic away from the welt but of course the rest of the stuff stays underneath the welt that's what you're looking there all right let's continue all right so this is what we're going to use as a welt this is called a split welt splits right there and this vertical piece hugs the uppers now manufacturer has see that stitch right there that's just for decorations that does it's not holding on to anything but we need to see if we can duplicate that on this welt also first before we hand stitch it onto the shoe now this is a split welt this is a this is a storm welt you guys see that hump right there that's curved now this is not a stitch on welt this is a glue on welt you see the stitches are there already just just for looks it's not for anything else depends on what type of job you're doing you use one or the other depending on what you're doing but we're going to use this one so the difference between storm weld that's a storm weld and that's a split welt we're gonna go with the split well today because we're gonna stitch it onto the shoe that particular storm weld is for a glue glued on construction okay let's continue [Music] this is nerve-wracking as hell [Music] because this is not this is not the setup for what i'm doing here but it's working out okay just got to be careful one wrong stitch and the whole welt is trashed [Music] don't ask me why they do that i have no idea you know it's like visually it adds to it i guess i don't know who the hell came up with this idea of stitching on a fake stitch on the damn vertical part of the storm well or splitwelt [Music] i gotta stop talking in focus [Music] we're just leaning the other damn way [Music] and we have success this is the first time i've done this i think it looks good hell yeah not too bad not too bad at all all right happy let's continue i have to close the door because this man is humid outside [Music] my voice is a little hoarse a little horst horst my truck broke down and i called chris up and he lent me his car and he's got xm satellite radio whatever the hell they call that and he had a station on it's called turbo i think the show is called liquid metal i mean talk about head banging music oh my god brought back some memories from younger years so i was kind of singing along the way four in the morning cranking that up don't ask me what song it was just headbanging music and so in our younger years we used to go to um used to go to small clubs in dc to go slam dancing for those of you guys don't know what that is well it's just a form of dancing to get your aggression out as as your youth because you got too much going on too much anger too much too much energy oh my god it brings back memories you know they got like a mosh pit also yeah i did that for a while no i wasn't i didn't look the part but we did it it was fun anyway so my my throat is a little hoarse horse i said it again horst i gotta look that up to see if that's a word i don't think it's a word i may crap up as i go along sometimes so we have here is a jerk with a needle now a jerk needle that's what i'm using to sew the welt on this is a jerk needle you see that little hook at the end yeah that's it that's the ticket now the trick is going to be joining those two together and having this thread which i stitched on the vertical part of the welt to make it look seamless it's a little difficult than then it looks [Music] because the welt is stitched on i can't get to that that back of that back of the welt to stitch it and it can make it look like it's a continuous stitch but we will try our best if i told you guys thank you for just being you i rarely talk about my my positive comments which i know i should i need to get my my thing here and i always misplace the damn thing it's a little leather cover for for my pinky anyway what was i saying i think we need to focus on positivity and you know i really appreciate you guys making comments taking the time and to write something cool i appreciate that but you know what that that negativity rears his ugly head sometimes and you just can't help freaking bashing it back but we're going to try to stay positive now anyway thank you guys i appreciate it i know some of my videos are like repetitious you know i do the same thing jr souls louis vuitton bag you know so i appreciate you guys hanging in there and my editing is not like the best it can be that's all right maybe going to like a professional editor will generate some more views or more subscribers you know what i really don't care i really don't seriously i'd rather have a few good subscribers who communicate and interact rather than more that don't so i thank you from the bottom of my heart it's a cold heart but i shall thank you know some of you guys are going to ask me but i won't watch now this is a very cool watch clock 2 i believe it's called now one problem is that it's not really what's the word i'm looking for it's not really for all occasions i think it's mainly for for like night you know because when you have light on the screen you can't see when you press the button you can't see the wording that tells you the time so let me see if i can turn off this this light and see if you guys can see let's see if we can turn this light off isn't that cool that is the coolest thing but when you turn the light when you turn the light on you can't see it so i think it's just mainly for like um going out at nights and stuff like that you know not for like daily wear well you can't wear it daily but you know what i mean i just wore it the other night and it was sitting on my dresser as i was coming out i said you know what let me put that on just to show you guys it's not really practical for for this environment but but it's it's cool watch i like watches tied up here okay what happened so we're making sure that we're going into back into the original holes of the original holes this is a very simple task actually you push the needle through the welt and the shoe and you you put the thread on the hook there you pull it through then you have a loop then you bring the other thread pull it through that loop and then pull the loop back and have the tension right in the middle of the welt and the shoe when it gets done it'll look like something like that okay all right i talked too much let's continue all right let me show you guys what we got now these threads here are part of the let's call it a top welt stitch the stitch that we put on the side so the ends i pull from the inside i time together now the other side i get a needle glue the two together the two welts together and i stitched that gap back together so it looks like a continuous stitch when you're looking at it and in the end i pull through which is this right here and i tie it together these two are the main well stitching so once we're done we just cut everything off and she is good to go it's kind of tricky to do it that way actually this is the first time i've done i've done that way like putting the top stitch on that on the welt like that that's how all that's come well not all the albums with split reverse welt i think it's what it's called it's kind of cool i think once it gets done that'll be kind of flawless all right let's continue we are getting there slowly but surely the midsole is on i put the cork i put the shank back in now this is a piece of jr leather that my guest brought me last week when he was here bill from district leather and um we did a little project for him and this was kind of left over so i figured you know it might as well use it while i got it it won't have the jr stamp on the bottom but nevertheless it is a dire sole it's a nice piece of leather it's pretty thick too this should should last for many years to come let's all right a little bit of hammer time all right a little bit we'll have a little more later on i know we've been lagging like hammer time lady you know i don't know what's up with that well you can only you can only hammer a purse so hard you know you don't wanna you don't wanna kill the damn thing we are making progress all right let's continue hammer time we got mr noah recording this morning say hi noah hello everybody all right let's make sure that's in the center now we got to stitch this now it gets a bit nerve-wracking because you know you don't want to make a mistake it's just one shot and one shot only so that's not that's not blood by the way it's just a little die don't get nervous i hear people are freaking out already so okay all right hold on let's take a look not bad not bad at all that looks pretty good i think you did a good job all right let's continue [Music] so [Music] you know i find it odd that the manufacturer didn't put any blind eyelets here blind eyelets meaning that it's just attached to the lining and you can't see it from the outside i mean there's nothing there i'm sure it's reinforced between the shell and the lining but i mean we don't even have we don't even have an eyelid or anything on the inside part of the lining which is pretty you know which is pretty strange usually there's something there that reinforces that area you know we don't have nothing there well that's why we're putting eyelids on to reinforce that area because once the shell gets damaged i mean you're really i mean i shouldn't say this i can't do nothing about it but that's a lot of work trying to repair the cracked shell like that so this will reinforce that area cool all right let's continue so saturday yesterday yes thank you yes good hurry up have a good day now you too thank you sir my pleasure these are 25 years old [Music] [Music] so [Music] all right we are done with another project look at that nice shoes well not that they weren't nice to begin with but i think he's going to be very happy with these if we look at the seam here on the side where the vertical stitch is right there it's pretty seamless the wealth has got a little bit of a hump you know where the connection is there but overall it's not bad i think it turned out very nice this is this is i think i'm going to start doing this on other jobs because this vertical stitch is is not it's kind of nerve-wracking but you know it's not bad it does it does look good very very very very good all right well thank you for joining me i appreciate it and uh if you don't mind giving us a thumbs up that usually helps the channel um comment share as much as you want we greatly appreciate it and if you guys have any questions uh email me at vetos b-e-d-o-s yahoo.com i've got a bunch of emails i got to get to i promise i will and um if you happen to have sent an email that i haven't responded sometimes it goes on the spam you know if you go on the main page in about section all my information is there phone number address email you guys are welcome to call me at the shop if you want i'm here east coast time from 10 to 6 tuesday through friday and 7th one on saturdays if you have a question that you need answered right away i'll be glad to see what i can do for you all right again thank you very much we'll see you guys on the next project take care all right so welcome back we have mr vin here who is the owner of the alden ravelo shoes and he's here to pick him up so he hasn't seen him actually he's seen he saw a picture that was like half done you sent me a little teaser yeah it's like it was you know before like in the middle of it because i didn't want him to see it until he's in front of the camera you ready for yourself it's right there in the back oh it's sitting right here yeah exactly you guys always ask for you know customers responsive here's the customer's response tell us a little bit why don't you tell the viewers about it while i get this phone okay yeah so um these originally came in a black dark uh edging i think it's mahogany and um if you're going for the cat for the formal like dressier look that works but i wanted something more casual um so i had the brass eyelets tell us about the shoes what what you know they because most people don't know about the shoes okay what they are and you know um well this is uh it's an alden long wing on the very last um and then the material is um it's it's alden's own color it's uh ravello shall hoard it beautiful it's it's pretty rare it's it's it's um it's kind of a grail for many people including mine yep um and i had this idea from matt from matt gray um what was the company's name eldwin elbowing i swear i never know how to pronounce it aldwin baldwin in north carolina explain them how to spell it so if people want to look it up ld uh w-i-n yeah it's like el eldwine or something like that you know it's supposed to be friend in um in gaelic language something like that e-l e-a-e-a l-e-i-n-e yeah so if you guys want to look them up they're in raleigh north carolina they're a good bunch of guys matt gray and jim you pronounce his last name uh petraeka patrick okay it's worse than my last name so yeah that's where they're good guys yeah and this this actually was um run one time it was a one-off thing that um alden did with j crew back in 2012 they their nickname the brass velos which is um the brass eye that's on the long wing with this antique edge and so obviously um you know unless you're very lucky uh it's impossible to get it exactly like that but steve was able to copy and mimic and actually make better uh i think than than what alvin did because normally you see how this welt joint is here i know if you guys can see but he does it so perfect that it's seamless all the way around and and that second stitch on the vertical part right um because you can't because you have to stitch it first right they clap they call it a pre-stitch reverse welds right and you have to connect the two together but then you can't bridge that two unless you hand stitch them together oh so you did this by hand well just well not the whole thing just the end when they're when they're meeting each other from the beginning and end so they're kind of flawless looks flawless like that so this turned out pretty good it does i mean i don't know if you guys can see the pre-stitched but steve did a really great job it's in the video i i show him oh okay i'll show you exactly what i've done so no you're like man dude i uh i'm really happy with these i think uh i think they turned out good they turned out great actually i i can't wait to start learning now i can start posting them because i finished them yesterday i'm like vin are you on your way to pick him up he's like no i'll be there i'm like tomorrow i gotta upload the video and i can't put pictures on instagram hurry up so and he texted me like seven am this morning saying are you coming i was expecting it at five a.m i was like yeah i thought he would be so excited to come early but i guess you know it's okay i think i was more excited than he was anyway i appreciate it man thank you very much for thank allowing us to do a job for you and um there you have it guys this is my response to one of the one of the con this is my video what do we call it customers response yeah all right thanks we'll see you guys again next time take care
