the idea was to do Alan Wake 2 pretty soon after first one looking at it now I'm really happy that it happened now I don't think it was the plan to have that much live action in the beginning it was more more of cinematics I think I remember Sam when he first mentioned that there's a musical part I was like really afterwards I heard that there were like moments that it almost got cut off before we talk to ilav I cannot forget the comment of the day and today this comment comes from TF star Knight he commented on the episode of Vantage voice actor Natalie kesaris that was uploaded very recently the comment says Vantage is one of my favorite characters and seeing how Natalie felt about voicing was such a treat also kudos for such a solid interview I've seen a lot of interviews with Apex voice actors where the interviewer uh really talked over or dominated the conversation but this felt super organic great stuff thanks for the video thank you for watching this video and thank you for commenting in such a great way and saying such nice words it's very important for me to let the guests talk and present themselves and you know get everything out of the chest that they want to say and I feel like it would be uh you know unfair to talk over them and not give them the freedom to say whatever they want to say if you want to be featured in the comment of the day all you have to do is comment down in this video or you can also comment on Spotify if you're listening to this podcast now without any further Ado here is Ila villy who played Alan wake in Alan Wake 2o I cannot believe how incredible the whole game has been it's touched so many people around the world people are just blown away by it and uh and you've been playing Alan Wake for 13 years now it's it's a long 19 years there you go even with production and everything yeah that's a long time what what do you think about it like playing this character for this long well it's it's unlike anything else in in my career obviously it's a yeah it was in the beginning of 2005 actually that I first uh you know did an audition for for Alan W then got a call from Sam Lake himself from remedy and he asked me to visit the offices and and explain me a little bit what they were up to and uh that's how we got started but yeah 19 years so it's been a long long time of course I haven't been doing you know alw related stuff all the time obviously but now it's been yeah it's it's been so exciting to see how how Al 2 hits you know how people uh are really excited about it and and and just uh enjoying the game and and the lore and the whole remedy verse and all that and yeah I actually want to take this chance to say thank you to everyone who's been writing messages like I've gotten really lovely messages from people mainly on Instagram just uh you know people writing so nicely about about about the game and and just uh expressing their gratitude and I I just want to say thank you from from the bottom of my heart that for those messages because it's been really a joy reading them I haven't had the chance to answer a lot of those messages but I I've read them all I I promise you yeah I mean I can understand how like you must be getting so many messages you cannot reply to every one of them but hey I I I think a lot of people and you you've seen it so many people love what you did in the games throughout these years and I think especially in alen Wick 2o because there was so much insane amount of stuff that happened in alen W too and everybody's just like gone crazy on how this all is there in a game and their minds are blown and how Alan Wake and how his story and journey is and it's so incredible for me Alan Wake 2 is because I'm a big fan of horror so for me Alan Wake to is like the horror game that I needed and I just I'm so just so in love with every scene whether it's effects or the the way it's shown presentation and audio and you know the filmm side of it all of it is so cool and I just for me it was like my game of the year kind of thing and so I just really enjoyed and so having had such a fun time everybody had such a fun time so thank you really for doing this uh for doing this for so long and for doing it in such an amazing way so thank you well thank you my my pleasure and I'm I'm really happy to hear that that you as well enjoy the game so much oh absolutely and you know it's is insane because Alan Wake to after that came out after everything the character is now also in other games like there's he's in now dead by daylight and there fortnite as well as the character uh which is insane how it's he's going everywhere and I always see people how like he can he just stop writing he just doesn't have to go to these games he has Alam R has to stop writing um it's just he obviously can't he can't stop writing that's that's not an option that's not an option um but you mentioned like when you first got the role you got the call back from Sam Lake how has that relationship been like with Sam Lake over these all these years it it's been wonderful I I mean I I just love working with Sam he's he's such a creative genius and and just uh and the nicest guy as well he's so humble and down to earth and he he's like this gaming rock star but he he never behaves that way I mean he's he's really down to earth and really good company and we've G become good friends during the years so I I really love it yeah wow yeah I he's as I said he's a gaming Rockstar in some ways because he played Max Spain in the first max Bain game he was the was the guy and everybody was like so much into and then he started becoming part of the other games as well and he was also here playing Alex Casey and it's so cool to see him uh make this game and help make this game and such an artistic way and take different paths it's so cool and I think a lot of people are saying and I believe even I me included like we got to protect remedy and Sam Lake to make sure like he can make all more and more awesome games and I'm just so happy that all of this was able to happen and Alam Wick 2 is out um so I'm just just really happy for Sam and for the team for everybody including you so yeah oh yeah yeah and a lot of a lot of the other people as well so many people working on this game and just done a spectacular job so it's great and one thing about Sam as well that he's like he's acting now as well you know a lot so so that's I'm I'm I really admire his him being that courageous like not try to stay cool and you know have this writer Persona this director persona but he's also doing stuff like new stuff for him as well yeah so he's he's really Brave and he's killing it as an actor as well so it's it's pretty impressive yeah sad at times being so good at everything but you know yeah yeah it was like man that guy has such an amazing talent he can do everything and it's so awesome yeah yeah see and he's so inspiring as well that's that's the thing that he he gets everybody around him excited about the story about what we're doing so he he's really great to work with absolutely yes and I'm I it's just like for me it's he's one of the persons that I would love to have the opportunity to talk share everything that he has done in his life he's such an icon and everybody loves him so much so yeah it it would be an honor and it's such cool so cool to see him being a big part of this game as well and so live action and and the game it's so cool I just didn't expect him to be there in such capacity it was lovely so was Smiles all over when I was seeing him in the screen like yes um so yes when talk to me about the first time when you became Alan Wake were was that at that point were you nervous about the fact that okay I'm playing this g a character in a video game how was that like for you at that time that was very new for me uh remedy had done I knew of Remedy I didn't know that much about games at that point I still don't that much but but at that point even less but I as a Finn I of course knew of of Remedy and knew of the max paying games and that was like a a reference for me um but yeah then it sort of started with us more like a photo shoot kind of thing we were looking for the character of Alan Wake in the in the beginning it was more like funny he's that Persona his attitude sort of and and just like he's wardrobe and that kind of stuff and just trying out different kinds of things and taking a lot of photos at that point and then well that that was a you know a lot longer process than it was supposed to be that started in 2005 when I got involved in it and then the game came out in 2010 so there were a few years in between that I didn't do much but then towards uh 2010 uh I did a lot of map for for map and and performance captures so the face SW for Alan Wake and then for a lot of the NPCs as well in the game in the first game so that was just a joy for me I I really enjoyed it and then you know uh doing bits and pieces during the years we we were kind of supposed to the idea was to do Alan Wake 2 pretty soon after first one but you know things don't always go as they're you know planned but in the H side looking at it now it's it's like it feels like this was the right way to do it we needed that 13 years to be yeah the kind of special game that it is it would have been a maybe a special game at that that that point as well like sooner after the first one but it would have been a very different kind of game so I'm looking at it now I'm really happy that it happened now yeah yeah you're right like um it's it's it's good in a way that it came after this long and now even more love has been given to this game and it shows it shows that everything about the game is amazing and uh it's just a piece of art in every way whether it's music whether it's specific music for every chapter the way it was whether it's game play or everything that the game had I I feel like so much love was in here for the last 13 years all of it just given in here and so wonderful and yeah yeah and all all the learnings as well I feel like everything they've done you know has sort of led to this for Sam and and for for remedying you know entirely so also the fact that remedy making games they they they make very bold choices you know they don't play safe which I admire a lot so they're they're taking risks and doing things that haven't done done before haven't been done before in games and and that's I really uh respect that that that's a great thing and I I feel honored of you know being part of a game like that that really sort of you know pushes the envelope and takes some risks yeah absolutely I'm so happy that that actually happened and obviously after 13 years you get to play Alan Wake again in a larger capacity uh were you at at this point when you came back was that easier to get back into the shoes of Alan Wake or was it a different experience again well um I don't I don't remember it being that difficult uh you K of Alan Wake being with me for such a long time as I said for 19 years it's it's sort of become like a second skin in a way and he's not that far for me actually he's not that different for me like I I don't have to change anything drastically to be ourwe sort of but of course the circumstances are different but it's just about imagining myself in those kind of circumstances in a way so and just emphasizing some sides of myself maybe uh just to to to find that character and and then of course it was based on a lot of the you know extensive talks with Sam him explaining the story and and US discussing who ala wake is now how he has changed where he is now what she what is his State of Mind at this point that kind of but it it felt sort of Pretty Natural I think yeah and that's great that's lovely to hear and uh you know it's so I'm just I think I'm just all smiles when I when I play Alan WG I'm just all smiles and everything happens in the game whatever is happening it's such so good I just cannot believe that we had that but the one of the things that was even special was how the game mixed the live action and the and the game so who kind of came up with the idea of like let's have this live action scenes and what was your thought of like we can have all these live actions elements in the game as well that we'll be recording with a set and Studio lighting and all that stuff what was your reaction at the same time well I I was really excited and I I think um at some point it wasn't the plan to do as much I might be wrong on this I'm not you know I don't know exactly how it went but um I don't think it was the plan to have that much live action in the beginning it was more more cinematics I think then it turned out that there was you know quite a lot of live action that we were going to shoot but I I I thought it was fantastic I I really loved it I I mean I I enjoy a lot doing motion capture doing performance capture but it's always there is so many like technical limitations there and so it's very demanding sort of and you well I love the part that you have to use your imagination a lot doing motion capture because there's nothing there it's like an empty Studio you just have like tapes on the floor and couple of pipes and that kind of stuff and and I like that it's it's a great challenge but then being able to step on set and having all the props there everything like doing that live action having the actual writer room suddenly stepping in there and seeing that well you know before only seeing it on the on the computer screen and then suddenly stepping in and it's it's all there right in the right size and everything and and the hotel room uh you know all that it was it was just fantastic I I loved every minute of it yeah I love every s second of it as well as you did it was so was so cool to have those scenes it was like something that I I somehow once I saw it I was like yes this is exactly what I needed somehow I didn't imagine it but like I needed it it's so so cool and I had that change of like obviously we seeing Cuts scenes in the game but then changes to a live action and it felt different it felt fresh it felt amazing so yeah you you did such a great job in all those scenes it was so dramatic so exciting and I love that thank you what was the process like for shooting for liveaction versus shooting scenes for games not that different although for for Live Action we had like certain longer periods of of shooting we would do like two weeks of of shooting versus uh in motion capture and and and performance capture it was like couple days here a couple days here like more fragmented uh but live action we didn't do it all like at once like you would do for a TV series probably or or a a movie so that was like in Parts as well in periods of time but but it was more like we would have like two weeks of intense uh you know shooting for for the live action stuff of course because we had the sets and everything so so it had to be done that way so I could really get into it like living that thing for for those those weeks which uh felt great yeah and it's it's cool I love all that all those scenes and it's even I feel like it's even I don't know how you guys do it but it's so amazing that how you are acting the scenes and Matthew is voicing even the live action and game so before we get in that how what was like you know going back and working with Matthew or did you ever get to meet Matthew at the time or what was it like getting getting back to with him yeah well we had met a couple of times before starting on alw too but and we were supposed to be more in the same room but then uh Co hit and you know everything became very difficult so so we couldn't really do it the way we had planned in the beginning but you know I've known Matt for for such a long time and we're he's a dear friend of mine as well so and and and I think we have this common idea of who Alan Wick is so it's it's we we both know like the direction and and and we know where to go and who he is and then we always would have uh you know we would do our our material mostly separately but we would always have Sam uh and then animata who was our cinematics and and live action director those guys sort of bridging it and just bringing everything together and and and just uh you know making sure that it's it it's stays uh connected and and you know just U coherent so um yeah and and there were uh different ways of doing it with Matt we would do for for Live Action obviously I would do the whole thing uh you know through and through and then Matt would come in and and do the dubbing for for Alan Wake um but for uh the other stuff like the in-game stuff the cinematics the animated stuff we would do it mostly that way that I would first do the motion capture so the body part and I would do the lines and everything and they would record them and then Matt would get that material and uh partly based on that but of course doing you know his own version of it bringing his his uh thoughts and ideas into it making his his voiceovers and then later on I would go to the performance capture Booth so the the face part which is U remedy does it separately so they do the body first and then the face later so I would do the me again Having learned the lines the way Matt does them uh just listening to hours and hours of those tapes of of Matt doing the voiceover lines and just matching you know my uh my mou you know matching the acting with with his lines with all the little breaths and and pauses and stutters and everything which is pretty complicated stuff and at the same time matching that face acting uh to my own body acting which was done maybe like a couple months before so that was like sometimes very sort of uh mindblowing in in that way that it was really really hard and demanding work but that was also something that I really I I enjoyed the challenge so much and and I I felt that I was able to sort of get to this this place where I didn't mind all the the technical hassle so all these uh you know these different parts that I had to sort of combine but I could get to place where I could feel relaxed and and sort of bring an actual performance to it not just trying to match this and match this but actually be in the moment and and and bring something to it so uh yeah I I it was hard but I I enjoyed it a lot so with Matt and me it's it's a like a beautiful artistic collaboration that we do I I I love it and and it's like he brings this in and I bring this in and it it becomes something you know larger than the the sum of its parts hopefully oh absolutely uh you guys work so well together it's so amazing it's at this point it's like how do you guys even do it because you match so perfectly and as you saying the process of how you have to do the whole Bo whole full body scene and then Matthew does his part and then you have to do face as well it sounds so complicated yet you did it in such a brilliant way that it all of it just worked out it's such a awesome thing and it's just challenging and it's so crazy that you guys have worked together so well and it's you know props both of you for doing such an incredible job it's thank you and I also have to give some credit to the audio team and the animators because they you know they fix it up and they they polish it and I'm I'm sure there's a lot to do so much work to do after we've done our job so so credit to those bunch of people as well yeah absolutely yeah right it's it's a it's a whole team's work and there's a lot that goes on with all of those guys as well in that team in the audit Department who have to figure a lot of other stuff out or technical uh side of things and man I just I it's so amazing to to know that all of this worked out in such a smooth way and it you know props to everybody who figured everything out and managed to do do this and give us a product that you know everybody's like enjoying it so it's so cool uh and you know like we talked about how and you know everybody's fascinated with this with how dubbing with Matthew and you and how it all happened and everybody's like uh kind of surprised to see how it was also happening in live action but you also played different characters in the game and you played Thomas Zayn which was completely you so when when that was given to you like okay you're going to play this new character and this is how he is what what were your thoughts on it on how you're going to play brand new character which is all you well that was really exciting because we I kind of got to create this new character because he he was very different from Thomas Zayn in the first game yeah obviously uh so uh we kind of got to create him and I I I got these uh from Sam and an I got these photos of like reference photos of of Jim Morrison for example I remember was one of them and and like 60s 70s rock stars and that kind of we we would try like different things and then we had a couple rehearsal days that we would try to just improvise and and try to find the character what he's like and his sort of attitude and everything and and uh yeah and and then uh closer to shooting him shooting I mean uh the the the Zan zann uh stuff um we again had this rehearsal day and uh just me Sam and Hy and and sort of just yeah we're looking for for for the character and I my idea was that he has to be had to be sort of a very much a contrast to who Alan Wake is so I would think like what are the obvious qualities and and characteristics of of Alan Wake and then sort of go to the opposite direction with zaye just to make them different because I knew I would be acting both of them yeah so I you know alen is pretty stiff so uh zann would be very relaxed very sort of uh you know fluid in his moves and and sort of and Allan is kind of uh very sort of masculine I think and so I I thought Zayn would be more very in touch with his uh feminine side as well and and sort of just uh free because you know Allen is captured he's he's sort of he's a prisoner of the dark place but but Zayn is just free he can do anything he can you know love anyone and he he can be just uh out there and and do whatever and he's sort of he's a danger his character at the same time because you know you never know what he's going to do next yeah which is always that kind of character is very exciting for an actor so uh yeah and I think Sam actually finished the script only after that rehearsal day so we we sort of once we had the three of us sort of together found that character who Tom Zayn is in in this story in this game and and then he wrote the final version of of uh those scenes that Allan and and Zayn have together and and um yeah and then just shooting it was very interesting uh because uh me playing both parts and yeah and if you want to hear about that I can tell you absolutely would love to hear about that yeah sure uh so uh yeah we did all the alen Wake for obvious reasons beard reasons we had to do all the the alen Wake Parts first and then uh midday one day after lunch we we shaved up my beard and and and then we would I put the Zayn's leather pants on and and we would do all the the Zayn parts for the same scenes yeah but uh what made it really interesting was that uh you know as I explained they're very different kind of characters and and and Zayn is the one who's sort of uh he's more active he's the one leading the scenes and uh Allen is more sort of passive he's he's just confused you know he has this constant state of conf confusion and what the fuckness you know he's always like doesn't know what's going on trying to figure things out but very confused so uh and then doing sort of the more passive character first um meant that I I I had to kind of uh already act in my head what Zayn would do because he would be leading the scenes yeah so uh that was kind of tricky and we had a standing actor there about the same height as me who would uh you know you know be there but I would always tell him not to sort of bring too much character in it because I I wanted to keep that to myself just deciding all the all the choices that Zayn would do and everything so so yeah that that was entertaining and it was pretty hard as well because I remember at one point I there's this moment where H Zayn freaks out from what he sees on the TV and he he he goes down drops down and then he escaped from the room on all fours yeah and that was something that I decided while acting wake and I did it with my eyes like doing him dropping down and like seeing that wow and sort of doing this trap for myself because I had to go up go on my knees so many times couple days later you know across the room because I did like him dropping on his knees and then going like going outside as WG first so that kinds of things happened that I I sort of had to decide things for zaye uh while still acting as wake just seeing him in my eyes sort of uh what he would do in this this instant but that was just that was something I'd never done before just having a two-hander with and playing both characters and that was just such fun I hope you're enjoying this episode so far and there's more to coming on the podcast and the best part is you will get the highest priority if you want to ask any questions to the guest in the show visit patreon.com/crashcourse so amazing to know that you had your old decision and I'm so happy that you had like the freedom of doing more with zann to bring more out of Zayn in a creative way different way uh and that's so cool and zann was such a awesome character I love that I love how free he was I love the way he spoke I love the way he's like eased on and saying everything and I love those scenes because it's so it's it's like every dark movie that I watch where there are some people are standing someone standing there he's not standing there anymore he's here and there's glitching stuff happening and all that stuff I just love that and it's so cool and you know going I didn't expect him to go on all four legs and just like walk by the room I'm like What's Happening Zane what happened so I I that he's a character that you know he can do anything yeah you never know what he's GNA do next AB that's so so interesting about him and and I just working with Sam and Anie on on zann was just so much Joy I mean we would throw out ideas while shooting and it was there was a lot of improvisation involved as well so so that was yeah that was maybe the the part I enjoyed the most during alw wow uh do you have like a I don't know how hard is it going to be but do you have like a scene that you remember the most that was the most memorable moment of the day as you shot the big chunk of alen Wick too well I I I think I do remember those like the zann Wake scenes all doing all that was like that was that has really stuck in my mind but there are so many good moments just uh but the first I I think all the live action stuff comes to mind first because there's just a like a visual memory that's strong because it was the actual set you know being in the booth uh just imagining everything being in the the motion captur Studio that's I do remember those moments but it's more like you see them in the game and it's so different you know with the lighting with the you know the uh wherever you're at and all all that so that comes later it's just while you're doing it it's just a studio and the stuff that you have in your head but being in the the actual Set uh those are like stronger visual memories I think so so just about everything that we did in the writer room as well like the drowning part which was very much improvised sort of just freaking out for for many many minutes that felt like a long long time and you know at times it was really hard I mean for Wake there were a lot of moments that because he's he's he really is in the dark place and I sort of had to be you know you I can't just pull a face like just throw in an expression there you just have to get into the right mood and him being in in that bad of a mood for for such part big part of time you know that was sometimes pretty heavy and felt like um and also me being on set a lot alone and there wasn't no other actor for for a large part of the shoots just being there there by myself and sort of you can't have like you can't react to something so I had to sort of invent and imagine those things a lot in my head and had to go to pretty dark places to get to the right mood so those were memorable moments but but pretty pretty tough you know yeah I cannot imagine how it must be as I said you have to go to those places to make sure that this character comes out in the best way possible because that's where the character is how was it hard for you to get out of that zone because you had to do so much work to get be in there and then was it was it ever a hard thing to like getting out of that no I don't think I don't have that problem it's you get there and then you get off it's it's like that's no for me it's not when I go home it's it's all gone I might be really really tired you know I might be a little bit quiet but I'm not like I don't have demons in my head I I'm not a danger it to anyone you know so I can I can shake it off just a shower will do it and and you know just breathing and and and just Landing it again you know yeah I'm I'm I'm so glad but yeah as I said like you have done such a great job in there and you know there the more characters that you got to interact with including Sam himself and Melanie so how was it to you know interact with both of them as you shot all these scenes with them like what was it like for working with those two that was great melan is so great and and she does an exceptionally you know fabulous job on the game so so that was lovely and like I said in video game acting there's a lot of acting by yourself you know so just alone so so just having a scene partner and actual other actor on set and having having that connection and and getting to act and react with someone is is very special and I I think we got along really well with Melanie as well so so that was it was lovely acting with her and getting to know her yeah and I'm I'm so happy because initially when I saw the game I was like okay we have a new character I don't know there were doubts like I don't know if we gonna have Alan Wick how he going to mix and how it's going to go but when when we started playing the game and we got it to know like who Sega Anderson is and how her story is how confusing it gets and how it builds a confusion on your head as the player who's playing the game it was very cool and love the kind of interaction that the Sega Henderson had with Alan wake and how that that was happening that was working out and then her story so it was really cool to see her and all those interactions that you guys had as well it was it was wonderful and I cannot believe that all of this has worked out and it just worked out in such a beautiful manner uh so yeah I think it was a great choice bring Saga Anderson as as the other protagonist yeah and it's so well-written character as well so it's it's really I think that worked really well and I'm I'm really glad that that that was the the choice that remedy made MH and you know you asked also about acting with Sam which was in the beginning is a little bit strange because I was you know I've known him for so long and he's always been like in a different role you know working role for me and then suddenly him being Alex Casey you know acting his heart out you know it was but he was brilliant I he's like I said I think he just did such a great job in acting as well but it was a lot of fun acting and working with friends is is great absolutely and it's such a it's so cool to see him when I when I saw him for the first time in the live action first scene I think was with in the talk show when you David herwood and and uh Sam Lake were all sitting together and I'm like it's Sam Lake and is is it's Sam Lake like it's not a character that is Sam Lake and so it was so cool to see all of you in that talk show and you know I love those talk show moments and obviously from that talk show moment the other part was like you doing you guys doing the absolute amazing stuff that everybody has been talking about ever since they got to see that part was the musical of alen wake and it was so insane and I got I have some stats here because the song Herald of darkness is like watched by five million people on YouTube the video and like almost two million people have heard it on Spotify and did you ever thought this song that you guys would do would get this much attention that people have been loving it so much doing dance videos doing the steps it's crazy it's it's been so nice to follow that seeing that it really people are really enjoying it of course we never thought about that while doing it like doing the musical parts we were just you know focused on that at the time but that was I remember Sam when he first mentioned that there's a musical part I was like really you know but I was intrigued right away I was I I loved it and I would ask him like constantly keep asking when when we're going to do the Musical part where is it you know I'm waiting for the Musical part and afterwards I heard that there were like moments that it almost you know got cut off from the game but I'm so glad that it didn't and it stayed in and we got to do it and now I mean people are really loving that so it's it's fantastic it is so cool uh it's a song and I I love the band for of all it's like I got introduced to them because of Max B too to been following them ever since and it's like every remedy game comes out I'm like my points are the fall they got to have a new song You few new songs new album Maybe I'm very excited and it's so cool to have them all these songs in h of Darkness being a 13 minute long song on to listen and 9 minute long it was like oh this is great can we get more but what I gotta ask like how what was the shooting process like choreography and everything how long did it took take for you guys to do all because there were multiple you you would do the same dance with all lit and sometimes you do with back lit how did that all happen um yeah we we had this great choreographer called Sophia ruia who who a finish choreographer who did the the choreography for the dance and and we just rehearsed it uh a few times and I think both Sam and me uh we were rehearsing at at home by ourselves a lot because it you know we're not dancers so we need to do put in the work to get it right and then we had professional dancers you know the dark dressed dancers there they were professionals so so that was great they would help us through it and and Sophia the the choreographer was there and helped us and you know I guess it was just uh practicing quite a lot and and and just uh shooting it and so many times I mean yeah I think on we did like two days of of uh filming those dancing the musical parts that's but yeah so there was a lot of material that they then edited you know into the game yeah as yeah I saw like a lot of scenes where like you dancing all of you you and being the lead in dancing all that with all everything is lit and then it would be back lit where you would like everybody you can't see them but it's a silhouette of you guys and also so there's like multiple moments of those scenes and it was like a whole story and I loved it it was like how Alam L story was set in this musical and uh it's amazing to even hear Matthew and and David also singing and it's so cool to have like oh what I didn't expect those guys to be also doing all that part was that also a challenge because he also had the dub and Matthew had to dub his all parts was that also a challenge how was that sh was the is the same process or was it a little different well there of course we had Matt's uh singing Parts already there in in place so I would just learn you know the song and just you lip sync the song uh so that was a diff little bit different from from other stuff that we had done but you know doing a song it's a bit different it's easier to lip sync that you have the music have the Rhythm so you know when when the lies are coming and and I don't remember remember that being too difficult I remember one part that was surprisingly difficult for me I had been doing the dance routine for so many times already that day but once we had this part where I had the gun and the flashlight in hand and suddenly I don't know what happened it really messed with my head because the choreography became really difficult suddenly I would do the same thing but just having those like items in my hand those props it just I couldn't do it took like many many takes to get it right I that was like really Ming with my head but we we got it right finally and and you know there are probably somewhere there there are many version versions of the the dance that you know are pretty bad but hopefully they they they stay somewhere people never see them I I think the the whole dance routine was amazing and then you guys also got to perform in front of the live everybody in the stage of the game awards that was something that people want it like I I would see in comments of the video like this has to be there if that's not there we not we're going to go on a ride and I was like oh guys this is great and when that happened I was like I was blown away to see you dancing to see David as well to see Sam Blake being so happy as he's going what was that moment like for you guys that was great that was yeah it was pretty surprising as for me as well I I mean just knowing about it a couple weeks before only that we going to do this and then it wasn't sure until quite close to the the day that we actually performed so uh but yeah we flew to Los Angeles and then rehearsed there for a couple days like three days before it that same week and then then just did the thing and we had some you know we had an excellent choreographer from from LA to help us out with that version and then just 12 you know brilliant dancers from local dancer from from LA to perform it with us and and that was just yeah great experience and I you know I thought I would have been more nervous doing it but it suddenly I don't know I just felt like I'm just G to enjoy this you know this this is like a once in a lifetime moment I'm just gonna you know enjoy myself even though it doesn't probably look that way because I was being pretty sort of serious and that that's something that I've always enjoyed like having this DZ routine and and danzing this choreography and Alan always being sort of that really cracks me up like him being so serious I I really enjoy that that part of it I think it's really funny yeah it is it is and I I'm so happy that we got this have that moment it was so fun to see them you guys perform in front of the live audience and you know it's so special such a special moment and all of it like because I love the song and the ending part of the song where it's all more orchest feeling and the fireworks happening it was so good I was like this is what I wanted like my heart was filled with joy and happiness all over I was like great glad to hear that yes and so okay we have few questions from that the fans wanted to know uh of you Sor ask is between scratch Allen and Thomas Zayn which character do you like playing the most well um there's not like a a definite answer to to that because as I said Allan has been with me for such a long time uh so he feels really special but then Zayn like I told you the way we sort of invented him and came up with that character and that freeness that he has that sort of danger and that that kind of a craziness that he has I I love him too scratch I don't know he he well he was very different in American Nightmare yeah he was more of a enjoyable character in a way in that he was like a trickster then so that was a lot of fun doing now he was more just like that pure rage and and and just that Killer Instinct yeah so maybe not this time around maybe not scratch I'll I'll drop scratch from the equation well yeah I mean true scratch was a very different character this time it was like very intense like had expression that just like it was very different and then I I was surprised by the way he was and I liked it I liked it enjoyed it but yeah Thomas Zan for me I think and Alan Wick has been obviously with all of us been so long so it's Alan is like yes Alan Wick I'm gonna support Alan Wick every time um but yeah Thomas zann I really really liked him uh uh Ruby asked if what's the advice that you would give to Alan Wick oh o I don't know I I don't have the answers I I don't know I I'd like to help him if I could but you know I really don't know what I could do no advice I you just he has to figure it out himself that that's actually the answer yeah because that's the only way to get out the dark place people can help you a little bit but you have to figure it out yourself exactly yeah that's that's very true uh Denny asked you have worked in film and TV industry in Finland over 20 years would you ever consider working in any projects in Hollywood if given the chance sure I I would like to work anywhere I mean an interesting job an interesting role you know I'd love that but it's not like it's exactly like a choice of mine you know it's not like offers are coming in left or right but but of course if there was a chance to do something overseas and you know absolutely or or somewhere in Europe as well like I've done some work here in in northern Europe and in different countries as well and and film you know co-productions in in different parts of the world but but absolutely yeah Jeremy Jeremy has this question is who do you think is a better dancer you or Sam Lake me oh sounds good too but we're we're both neither one of us is a professional as you can obviously see but but you know I think I have this actor Advantage maybe a little bit that I've done yeah some but Sam has done he's a tap dancer as well he can tap dance wow so he's got that you know wow that I did not know that he I can't compete with him in that so wow that's that's amazing T dance that's pretty cool uh but yeah he he did such a great job there as well Sam Lake and I'm so happy just like I'm always visualize when I see Sam Lake dancing always visualize the moment when you guys perform in the game awards and the camera was just looking at him and he was so happy just doing the steps and just visualized that and I'm like I know that the big smile that had big smile on his face was so cool um Infamous asked how does it feel to hear someone else's voice coming out of your mouth and why was that kind of decision taken in the very first place well that was always this gig you know that it was always that way it wouldn't be done that way now of course it would be a new game but uh for the first s wake it was uh you know at that time things were done pretty differently so they had so the the physical actor from Finland I was close to remedy it was easier to do all the those parts and then it needed to be for authenticity it needed to be an an American actor and Matthew is a great you know absolutely actor per se but a great voice actor as well uh you know brilliant so so that's the way it's been and uh like Sam said himself that it for him Alan Wake is you know my physical acting and and and Matt's voice acting that's who Alan Wake is yeah and that's been the gig all always for me so it's it's you know doesn't feel strange at this point yeah it's it's brilliant and I love I love Matthew's voice so so amazing so to listen to Matthew such a great guy as Well's just so fun and and just a relaxed like really really nice guy yeah I'm just love him there's another question um by pallaki saying that do you know did you know about the whole story from the beginning or was it compartmentalized until the game was released well there wasn't like a a complete script when we started but Sam you know talked a lot about the story we we we had various conversations about the story and he would explain you know the the whole storyline to me and and we discussed it a lot so I knew what was going on but but yeah for me it was like more because the way we did it was so fragmented and and it wasn't like in chronological order at at all so for me I felt it was more not like understanding everything and and keeping the whole story in mind that wasn't really useful for me it was more of just being in the moment and and and sort of being very truthful and and and real in that moment and just coming up with with things there then and there and and and then you know they would always unse and and Sam who knew the the story through and through they would always guide me and you know make sure that I was on the right track yeah for me it was just more of just being in the moment yeah that's great that's lovely um and and I know like a lot of games go in that way where they it's shot differently at different times and not everybody would be able to know what the full story is and I think that's great I think that that way everybody can be in the moment for whatever scenes that they're playing um but yeah I think in the end I would just like to say thank you for giving me your time talking about Alan Wake and talking about everything that you did you have done such a great job the whole team everybody uh at remedy has done such a great job all the actors and thank you for providing Alan being alen wick for this long and being a part of this universe that has formed with remedy and so yeah just thank you so much thank you so much this was great it was lovely to have this conversation with you thank you yeah absolutely and before we go is there anything that you would like to say to the fans um who have been like enjoying this game overall like worldwide really well I just I'm so happy that people have found this game and are really enjoying it and and and loving it just uh everything about it and and just thank you for the support and thank you for all the the lovely messages that you've been sending I know to to other people as well for me so yeah I really appreciate [Music] it
