Airstream TOTAL WALKTHROUGH NEW B VAN 2023 RANGELINE 2022 Hershey RV Show

this is Justin from the factory from Airstream Justin thank you for joining us today really appreciate your time thank you now you're super busy here this is a brand new product for Airstream it's built on the Ram ProMaster first time ever uh yeah I'm currently with this uh I think there was technically a Dodge in the past but this is the first promo so kind of a modern interpretation I'm just really impressed by this floor plan uh maybe just give us a little walk around the outside we'll jump inside yeah I'm sure some of the cool stuff that I didn't know about that he does so let's go so Justin again this is a Ram ProMaster 3500 we're somewhat familiar with that but new platform in terms of chassis for you guys um why why ProMaster yeah well you know we've been in the Mercedes-Benz business for years we're one of the leaders with the interstate uh now the Cutaway with the app love that business you know in 2020 in January 2020 we moved our trailer Factory to the largest Factory I believe in North America the trailer's got a whole new home that meant our old travel trailer Factory was able to embrace the motorhomes which gives us a lot more capacity in the meantime we're watching this ProMaster continue to raise and just rise and rise and Rise if you look at the Sprinter business it's continuing to go like this but the ProMaster is actually doing that so hockey stick yeah it's crazy so five years ago you know there were more sprinters than promasters now it's almost twice as many promasters as printers and at some point you can't ignore that anymore right and one interesting Dynamic with Airstream is we have exclusive stores they sell nothing else so they don't have a chance to sell this and um but some of our multi-line stores maybe carry the winnebagos like you have or or some of the other products out there so we have a great Network exclusive stores wonderful branded experience I mean I encourage you to go visit some of these dealers you below employee blow your mind um and we think we hope we can offer something compelling and then in the middle of all this Thor bought Heimer over in Europe and this is their number one platform so we had access to those guys and saying hey what do you do and products you use I'll show you a few things that we picked up yeah that is so so cool um welcome to the ProMaster family actually I'll even take it one step further you'll see two different mounts here and this is something that we got from Heimer but you know we have a pop top option on this right so whether it's pop top or non-pop top we want to be able to receive either way oh yeah so this is a three bracketed Mount and this one and the one in front are prototypes but you'll notice on the pop top it's a full rail that's actually what we're going to end up with that was something that we talked to the Heimer folks and it's really nice too you can actually integrate a light into it that we're considering right here so and then also oh yeah because then you don't have the openness behind it right So eventually so for production it'll all be this side and what's cool about this is it will work whether it's a hot top or not that is so awesome really nice so a couple of things that caught my eye Justin is this cellular looking situation what is this white so what we're doing is we're pre-wiring and we have a mounting bracket and what that is is from King antennas so you can do one of three antennas there with your dealer you know over-the-air TV antenna you can do a satellite or you can do a cell phone booster to start a cell phone antenna but a cell phone booster right but that way the customers all have their own desires and that way we're not picking it for you you can choose one of the three it's all pre-wired it's ready to go dealers can install it so smart and then on this side of the van back I noticed something else here that was kind of different yeah so Airstream actually has a cell phone option it's called a Airstream connect we've gone ahead and installed it on this one but it'll come pre-wide tired as well and that actually does get you a cell phone service and we have a little app that you can that's cool now it won't control your your van but it will at least offer some uh some some connectivity and on the exterior here um this is for the generators this is a fair assumption uh no actually uh I believe one's for the generator the other one is for Timberline so our Heating and um our furnace and water heater are pulled off of the unleaded gasoline tank so what's nice about this van you're just putting gas and going you don't have to worry about it yeah and super kind of stealthy I mean there's nothing cut in you know the 30 amp here and your 30 amp tanks but it's tanks but then we decided for everything else we'll just hide behind these body moldings and this is a magnet that'll come out oh yeah keep the door open you got your city water fill black tank so which one is which this is that's the black tank black tank flush I'm sorry that's City Water City water I apologize yeah that City black tank and then this is the shower okay so you fill your tank or just connect fresh water yep okay very cool and I love this yeah that's kind of an area and there's another one down here find it oh no wait for this it'll have another light yeah you won't be able to see it during the day here but it'll light up yeah all right well really stealthy from the outside and all that stuff put into the sides which a lot of people do appreciate that right that's really been the Airstream way even with our interstates is we don't like all the Swirls and everything else how big of a fight was it to Landon's rage line well I like all the names are taken we had all of these like iconic Airstream names we were looking but you know I think it kind of goes to the interstate Atlas kind of the road and yeah Rangeline it's super great terminology um and then on the outside too we tried to really simplify it it is a manual awning so there's no integration with the PSM module of the chassis uh same with the steps it's a set uh running board as opposed to the power steps yeah and then uh because sometimes Simplicity rules I mean a lot of people got to get fancy and I just kind of ProMaster approach it's simple right yeah you know we really wanted to to make it look very airstreamish so if you look at the floor risers you know it's got the aluminum that is backlit at night it's got a nice little rope lighting underneath the ledge there ah I was particularly happy when they found this because you know you look at all the RV like handles coming in it's plastic we really wanted to make an impression this actually is a supplier for the Marine industry and they can do all kinds of really cool shapes um and any you know taller I might grab here someone shorter might grab here and then when you're camping it actually doubles as a towel holder nice I thought was really cool so what do you think pretty impressive right yeah I'm just super excited um Justin would you be good enough to kind of give us a walk through on the inside let's do it let's do it awesome and stepping in first thing it has a very open but great room feel up here um this is probably my favorite thing maybe except for the bathroom wait to see the bathroom if you haven't seen that yet but this has an extension right yeah so and clearly these chairs are pretty important when you're camping um and if you figure you can seat four to there turn around the driver's seat but what's nice about this is this table can come around yeah and also help them and then lock it in place for the passenger that's so good we really love that the other thing that's nice is this can also help you with your countertop this is you're preparing food or cooking or doing stuff in your kitchen induction cooktop here you can uh that's right use that for a counter extension very clever yeah so there's no LP and that's a great point and um so instead we have a induction cooktop that we put in the top drawer here and then there's a Power Tower here that you can plug that into that's inverted wine sold separately that's right good wine though good one that's right and then um you know the other piece is you know people don't want to take their dirty shoes then so we have a shoe cubby at the bottom oh yeah sure it's got a little map there that you can pull out clean and then some other areas you notice we've really stopped all the switching like we just ate all the buttons and monitors that a lot of these folks have so we actually hide ours back here but this is it basically has an all on all off switch or patio light switch this is on an RF switch you can move that if you want really that's cool and then the other cool thing if you come in here if you look at the monitor panel you know how many times do you see just like these walls covered with all these little black switches yeah like mine so this is all into one screen with firefly we've got the solar controller in there now and now we actually have the the generator settings in so all of your Diagnostics go through this as well and it's got an auto gen start so if you're away from the coach you got your dog in here it can either tie to HVAC or if it's low voltage it'll charge up your battery so all of that is in there we did keep the Timberline system separate but two screens as opposed to switches and switches and again Timberline if you aren't familiar with it it is using chassis fuel that's right it's basically a hydronic system that pulls off of your fuel tank so you're not having to uh um worry with the lp and it's heat and hot water heat and hot water yeah very cool yeah I believe where it started was over the road trucks you know you got the cabs of the trucks and you're utilizing the diesel fuel but they've also gotten before and this is so Airstream the best aluminum wouldn't be air street without a uh but you know what I got I've been in RVs for 25 years a lot of RVs have the fabric roofs they can have odors they can pull off of the roof over time uh this is going to look like this for years to come tried and true and then you know the uh cabinets these are locking cabinets you'll notice that the it's a locking mechanism keeps everything safe two steel hinges as opposed to one or two really strong I mean it would stop a Terrain probably and over build and thank you for you know lining the back the top back and bottom it's just so important some of them I just stopped doing that yeah and I have to find it so important and you know the other thing that we're doing this it's I believe I haven't heard of another manufacturer doing it but the whole insulation system is something called lizard skin it's a sprayed on insulation on the but it's sprayed on all four interior sides of the van so it has thermal um characteristics clearly but here's a cool thing it is sound dampening like we've never seen before this thing really is quiet if you think about a sink you know they spray stuff on the back so it keeps the sound down it does this is a basically a metal box when we get it from from ProMaster that is so cool tons of stuff here in the kitchen we've got the portable speaker it has great sound in here if you want to take it you can go this is actually locked here to show so no one can steal it we got a temperature control here for your HVAC system a bamboo sink cover cutting food I love the placement of the faucet thank you for putting it where it belongs not here where a lot of folks would do it right that's right trying to get in this is totally functional so that is a great job there yeah and lots of cubbies you know we we have these conversations all the time this adds labor and some added detail but my gosh it's just dead space just yep yep it's so important to be then and I gotta tell you I was really happy with the way the designers came out with a very balanced Galley you know how many times you go see drawers kind of hodgepodge all over the place this has got a really nice look to it and it's uh tons of storage in it as well the uh the drawer that I particularly like has two and there's a garbage can you can put your trash bags that is in there just and again they're all locking mechanisms as well and soft clothes um we've actually partnered you know we build all of our cabinets in-house and Airstream but for this product we actually partnered with a company called Genesis their sister company did the alpha van over in Europe if you've seen that um gotta look it up alphabet shout out to those guys even though we don't know we're affiliated with them but I caught our attention and they helped us obviously screen door which is nice keep the bugs out yeah keep the breeze in yep and this would be your view I mean it's just a lovely implementation for this floor plan I'm just I'm so excited by this three-point seat belts so you can travel for yeah and they're tethered so you can bring the kids if you've got kids not everybody puts the child tethers on and then we left this open back here you can store the table back there if you want you can store some chairs you know we can close that off but then you lose access to it and we wanted to give access right so this is pretty exciting for me the bathroom yeah it's uh you know that's the compromise in the segment is there they're a little smaller but what we did is this bathroom is actually vented out on the side up here and the reason it's not on the roof is this bathroom will work with or without a pump all right so obviously we got to vent that out on the side and that's the same product I love that it's all waterproof so you don't need a shower curtain this becomes your shower door yes which is like in my unit it's so nice uh I can stand very comfortably in there to use this thing yeah or this thing the shower and it's a it is a black tank so some people decide to use cassette toilets on this we're giving you the full black tank you know it um which I appreciate yeah and then this but I agree with this one you know if you think about this if you think about this category and you open this door and it comes down the hall if you've got two people in here it's it can really eat up a lot of space so this is nice it stays really well well done yeah and then some uh some nice adjustable shelving for your pantry you can adjust it just the way you want it in a bar if you want to hang clothes like me crazy yep so really flexible a little bit more storage up here we've got some uh venting that we're hiding behind there and then yeah this this bed goes across but this is kind of a nice feature to help you step up into the bed and lock into place and then you can also oh yeah hide some storage under there as well um and I I forgot to share we'll look on the outside but you saw the little paw for the leash oh yes on the patio side so you have a place don't be like Chevy Chase and forget to um dog it's right on the end I think we should it's right there but what we've also done is we've added all these free dog dog bowls inside as well and if you're not um a dog lover it's fine you can pull that out and use it in storage um and when you are sleeping and this goes over top you have tons of storage down here's dog beds or your gear grills whatever you need grills yep before we go back there Justin let's talk about this this is kind of a new entry fridge um I'm seeing this on more and more Vans um so it comes out of Italy I think it does it's a free grow uh they've been big in Europe for a while uh they're coming to the United States it's all electric so there's no need to vent it on the outside we do vent it on the inside a little bit you'll see here one of the reasons why we went with this color is this is a dry erase board so if you want to write yourself a note or a reminder you can write yourself that and then give the kids something to do that's right and the microwave's so important to have that yeah yeah it's a really good size good size fridge yep yep um the microwave so we have we don't have a full on lithium system that will run the air conditioner but we did do a game changer battery which has 270 amp hours versus kind of your 200 standard to 12 volt batteries but it's enough we're we can actually we have a 2001 inverter we can actually run this microwave without turning on your generator so literally the only thing you would turn your generator on HC um one other thing and the interstate the the screen I showed you in the back we would have one in the back as well the front excuse me the one I showed you in the front we'd have in the back well on this one you have an app free phone and it's got a local connection so you can have that screen on your phone so if you're on the patio and you want to turn on the air conditioner because you're about to go into bed which means you got to turn on the generator you can do all that from the touch of your screen and of course everybody has their phone next to them in bed generally so if you want to turn on the air conditioner at night you can actually just get on your phone and do it you don't have to come all the way up to it ah so smart so it's uh that's been a really nice so smart all right I'm dying to see the demo of this bed yeah absolutely so it's not really a Murphy bed what is there a name for it we don't have a name it's just really a flexible bed system it is and it basically you'll notice here that there's these hooks so the bed will come across and set in these hooks okay for a nice secure um connection Ah that's cool so just a couple of velcro straps and then the the platform comes out yep and then that keeps the magical back down here yeah that is really smart and quite a bit of storage under there yeah look at that ladies and gentlemen that is envious space in any B van and it looks pretty comfy you know it is it's really firm you look at the slats that we have here and then added with the memory foam it's not bad at all we've got pockets in the window coverings for your phones or tablets or books any sleep uh this way right yep sideways go sideways it's a nice thing with the added width and then if you look back up here there's actually an iPhone wireless charger oh that just hooks right in there and you can charge your phone while you're sleeping that is cool well thank you for the demo I was curious how that worked absolutely so it has the hinge in the middle so uh that's a little different than I've seen with some of the other guys um he's pretty cool yeah again something that we learned from from Heimer as well and and of course here you've got the screen that comes down yeah uh it actually has a magnet on it so you can leave it unzipped and kind of get in and out in the day again more storage and then as opposed to those little plastic inserts that a lot of people put we put these Nice metal Molle panels yeah there's actually a bottle opener under here it's very important for soda pops for soda pops yeah and then uh lots of overhead storage as well back here so we're packing a lot a lot in here and what also like what they did is all of these lights are motion detectors so when you do come out to grab your gear at night they're automatically coming on and you got the track Mount so you can actually tie something down like a bike or what have you yep you got bikes kayaks whatever you want and you can put bikes in here for very easily um move them out for night time for putting it at your bed but uh so Justin this thanks for the demo in the bed so cool I'm really loving this floor plan man yeah um if I was shopping for a van um so just tell us a little bit about uh tank capacity is it a Four Season van meaning you can kind of run around the winter time you know how's that working yeah so the um with the lizards in its skin it's really got some great insulation factors the water tank is above floor behind one of the bed bases so whatever you have it said on the inside you know your tank is fine so it really is kind of a I always call RVs three and a half Seasons I mean some people really want to go to the minus zero and you can do it folks you can do it but you're really going to be you're pushing the end you're going to be pushing envelope now the cool thing about this you're pulling off your unleaded fuel tank as opposed to burning through LP and having to go fill that so that is nice um it's got a three year warranty which matches Dodge um one thing that Airstream does and a lot of Manufacturers do we have our own Factory Service Center in Jackson Center where you could actually take this and get a winterized you can get your warranty work done I always point that out just because not everybody does it and as I mentioned earlier you have access to an exclusive deal and that's all they do is work on Airstream see a lot of these a lot of these big conglomerates have every brand 15 different brands and their jack of all trades master of none our dealers are really dialed in with those exclusive stores and price point so this is uh being recorded in September 2022 so yeah and we're launching we have about just under 200 of the 2022 Dodges to sell this one's a prototype so this is a 2021 Dodge but um at that on those 2022 Dodges without a pop top it's 132 000 less price and then uh the pop top is uh just under 11 000 so super compelling van um we talked about Volta so they're well they've added votes to the other sprinter-based Airstream Vans yeah so the interstate here is launching Balto yeah which is so cool it's the first kind of public launch board that's the first thing I got excited about putting volt in here but they're like oh one thing at a time please come on let's do lunch first thanks again for the time and yes congratulations we had a great floor plan this I am spitting with this at Volta and I probably will be leaving um the Winnebago family I don't know but uh just a great job taking the cue from the folks across the pond in Europe and this just
