Airline Pilot Life 2020: Another 4-Day Reserve Trip//SNA Departure Setup

[Music] hey everybody uh welcome to flying with big urn uh we have just got to the airport obviously i'm in my uniform um we were sitting reserved we had a four day reserve block a phone rang while i was editing videos and wow we got a four day trip so the trip today consists of dead heading over to oakland uh we're going to pick up a plane after overnighting 12 hours we're going to fly down to orange county and then over to phoenix where we'll get to do an overnight in our base doesn't happen very often but when it does it's always really nice i'm just going to jump back into my truck and drive home and we'll have about 17 hours off uh before the start of the next trip after 17 hours we'll head back to the airport i got to go from phoenix to oakland down to los angeles and then back up to oakland where i'll overnight again and then my last day day number four will be just a dead head back to phoenix so as scheduled uh right now it's always subject to change but we'll keep our fingers crossed where we get to overnight in base so it breaks up this four day into really two two days and uh that really does make a difference so uh again we're just getting to the airport we're gonna run on in uh catch up to our deadhead flight to oakland so thanks for watching why is my necktie so tight i get to it first i got you mad i guess that when i get to it last get it then i'm never going back get it [Music] okay it's a hot one today i'd rather be spending some time out by the pool actually i think it might even be too hot for the pool it's hot part of the glamorous life is waiting for the hotel shuttle van which is right over here and just pulled up so we're gonna hop on this uh shuttle and head to the hotel just got to the room had to warm up my trifecta because the restaurants are closed [Music] rule number one always bring your food on the road from now on uh the gym is unfortunately closed so it's gonna be no working out to at least in the gym but as you notice yeah plenty of room here might just do some stretching or something like that but it's a glamorous life first day on the road hopefully tomorrow sticks and we just head back to do two lakes back to phoenix tomorrow so hopefully that holds and we'll be sleeping our own bed tomorrow so we'll see you guys tomorrow just pulled into orange county looks like they just got our uh air hooked up and our electric so i'm gonna turn off or get us on the ground power and we'll turn off our apu and get on ground air so apu is coming off bus lights out ground power and my air conditioning pack is configured for ground air so one of the last things we do get on uh ground power just so we can stop burning some fuel save every penny we can right now but uh yeah i'm going to just get the airplane ready one more lead back to phoenix as you all know that that makes me really happy so 51 minutes to phoenix i love it all right let's get this airplane ready head back got the position in there go ahead download the flight plan all right like plan we'll load that i go on second fms and make sure that the flight plan loads properly [Applause] we'll double check that like we said in the last couple videos just getting a basic overall look of our departure out of here again we'll uh brief that up with the captain when he comes back looks like it's downloaded into the fms as well so from there the atc log in to the system all right we're accepted always nice to be accepted here let's let them know that we are here and we are ready to fly part 117 in it and pull up the weather [Music] part 117 in it received orange county india it's clear scattered clouds in the 70s and we're heading back to phoenix where it's going to be like 111 today uh 2989 let's go ahead and put that guy in there so we got kind of set up we've got tons of time again you know be early just in case things pop up that aren't going right you can uh you have a fighting chance of staying on time so bam now you see i hit the print button this airplane has a printer basically what that means is this airplane goes to hawaii it flies a long way with two engines over water and as part of those requirements it needs a printer so take advantage of that save my hand for uh riding but it just makes things a little bit easier i know you airbus guys have printers all over the place you know pizza oven and all that other stuff but hey i'm a 7-3 driver so we're a little more old-school put that there in the center console and uh pretty much for now we're done i'll uh enter in the takeoff data numbers into the box they'll uh crunch them spit it out and then once the captain gets back we'll review everything give a good brief run some checklists and then we're off to phoenix we have made it back to phoenix the plan is still to go home and overnight in my own bed tonight it is a 110 degrees outside right now it's a lot warmer than that 73 in oakland but hey uh happy to head home now what i can do uh since i'm still sitting reserve well actually i have a trip so my trip tomorrow heads back to oakland it does a couple on the west coast eventually ends up in oakland for another overnight there and then the last day would be just a deadhead back home so what i can do and what i am going to do is put that portion of that trip into what's called trip trade giveaway so if someone's looking to pick up a little extra flying and make a little extra money they can pick up that trip i'll go back on reserve and i'll get my men pay for reserve which is fine for me and uh hopefully sit at home and just be on the ready if they need me there is a risk though they could give me just an absolutely heinous trip on reserve if uh you know if they need me so there is a risk but i'm willing to take it just for the opportunity to maybe stay at home but we'll see we're going to head home have lunch and hang out with family good morning everybody uh it is day number three unfortunately no one picked up my trip so here i am back for a two day uh it's all good a west coast trip today we are gonna head to uh oakland and uh from oakland we're gonna head to los angeles back to oakland then we're gonna overnight there a little bit of a shorter overnight uh because the next day all we do is come home so tomorrow we'll be home pretty early uh with an am uh just got to the airport uh head down to the gate uh here in about 10 minutes and start our day number three on reserve here we are again oakland california for our other overnight uh it's nice out man it's like 80 something degrees so much nicer than phoenix so we're gonna head over to the hotel this is the last day uh day number four got my mask actually i got it from rogue kind of like that we're just gonna deadhead home today we'll get home we'll give the company a call see if they need us if not uh we should be home around 9 30 in the morning which gives us the entire day keep our fingers crossed and we'll head to the airport right now uh for our deadhead back to phoenix he just jumped onto that flight looks like it's going to be pretty empty uh on the way back to phoenix standard nowadays coffee pro tip get your coffee in your room that way you're not spending four dollars on a cup of coffee in the airport so anyways pilot tip right [Music] all right we are back at my truck we are done with the trip that they assigned us we do have to stay uh contactable by phone uh just for a couple more hours in case you have something else for us they would call us um actually call me out i'd come back to the airport fly whatever uh probably a turn or something like that and then be done after that but let's keep our fingers crossed that that doesn't happen we just get to hang out at home it is 9 45 in the morning so it's actually really nice to get back this early gonna go home grab some breakfast because i'm starving and uh get some stuff done around the house so all right guys hey thanks for watching uh if you
