hi I'm Meredith Lawrence when you make your own onion rings it's like having a night out at home but onion rings are really intimidating to make right no let me show you how in my bowl I have flour and baking soda already I'm going to add some salt some paprika and some pepper and then I'm going to add the wet ingredients which are beer and an egg so in goes some salt the paprika is going to give this a really nice color as well as some flavor freshly ground pepper because that's how I like it and now the wet ingredients so I'm going to add about half a bottle of beer what kind of beer to use the kind of beer you like because you're only using half a bottle so the other halfs probably going to go in a glass for you so half a bottle of beer and an egg and now we're going to whisk this together now that beer is going to help activate the baking soda as well as add some flavor in this container we've got some bread crumbs just plain bread crumbs about a cup and a half leave them there now we've got our dredging station ready and a sheet pan to catch the breaded onion rings I'm not even going to peel the onion because I don't want to risk cutting any of these onion slices I want nice round rings so just start here and cut off that stem end first just as shallow as you can and then slice the onion about half an inch to 3/4 of an inch thick once the onion is all slice now take off that peel so that you're left with just the rings in the center once you've separated all your rings of onion and removed all the peels let's start battering them pop 2 into the batter and then take a fork and just toss them around we're going to drip off any X they're just give it a shake and then pop it into the breadcrumbs move it around coat it completely and then get it ready onto a parchment covered baking sheet we're going to do them all this way once you have them all battered and breaded get that air fire preheating at 360 degrees for just about two minutes the last step is just to add a little bit of oil and when I say a little bit I mean a little bit of oil and you're going to put them into the airfryer and you can layer them on top of each other not perfectly but sort of at an angle and get them all in here when you go to flip them over you're going to also rotate them so that they evenly Brown we're going to set it at 360 degrees the first stage is 10 minutes once that timer goes off it's time to rotate and turn those onion rings flip them over make sure the ones on the bottom get up to the top one more stage in the air prior 6 minutes at 360 degrees look beautiful gorgeous brown crispy exterior all you have to do is get them out onto a plate pile them high and deep and get ready to enjoy them and if you've played your cards right there's still half a beer to enjoy as well Cheers
