Ahsoka - Episode 5 - 1X5 - "Shadow Warrior" | REACTION + REVIEW

[Music] foreign welcome back we're coming at you with another Ahsoka reaction joining me as always is my sister Jenny hey guys so last week's episode episode 4 was easily the best episode of the season so far it had everything we wanted and it's basically right now everything is ready cocked and loaded we're waiting for Dave filoni to hit his Target basically like it's it's he's at the helm all of the ingredients are there Sabine has gotten on the ring with Balin and shin and Morgan elspeth and they've shot off to this other Galaxy Hera and her Squad got some of them got killed but it was Hera and like uh Carson Teva and one other pilot were there um so they're still there on cetos where Ahsoka has like fallen off this cliff into the ocean and we don't know whether she's dead or or alive or having a dream or she's encountered Anakin for the first time in 25 years yeah wow um well I mean like she obviously had an encounter with Darth Vader uh Anakin after but that's different this is the first time she's seen him in this form and then at the end it also played that Darth Vader music so like it's very up in the air what's gonna happen here it's kind of pointless to sit here and be say what we want because they're gonna give us something um how do you feel uh I feel great I agree last week was easily the best episode so far of the season um I'm expecting that this week we're going to see a lot of flashback action with little moments in time and you know sort of this is your life Ahsoka Tana this is your life confronting her past um yeah exactly is it gonna be like Anakin showing her like teaching her more Jedi lessons like to like fulfill her Jedi training because she left like right when she was like at the custom like what would essentially be like her Jedi uh trials to become a knight or whatever so yeah well it's sort of flipping it on its head because Sabine has just resumed her training you know she's just picked up her training again and so there's this sort of Master becomes the student element going on here yeah flipping on its head a lot of different possibilities we don't want to set us up ourselves up for disappointment with expectations so we're just going to jump into the reaction and we'll talk about it afterwards cool let's do it I'm like buzzing with anticipation give it to me back on cetos with the red Forest oh oh here is people yeah oh oh yeah it's sabine's helmet he's just chilling yeah yeah dang he looks depressed I told them to stay together oh yeah buddy no they never listen [Music] so much pathos for a Droid he's like a 25 000 year old Droid dude yeah she's been through a lot Shadow Warrior hmm I like okay let's do it wow Anakin you look the same you look old that's what freck said to her basically oh she said to Rex you lost hmm balance skull so you do remember tell me what's going on yeah tell us I'm here to finish your training please oh yes please one is never too old to learn snips what's the lesson Master dude live okay he does have anakins whatever okay or die you gotta fight Anakin yo not holding back dude we're overdue at HQ Senator Organa says she can only give us covered for so long Senator Organa is talking about Leia must be mom there's something about the water General the waves crashing no the lightsabers dude hear what's happening so one of the doorways into the yeah so like he can hear wow okay okay cool nice all right Jason sindula for the week yes oh so they're actually gonna be like taking the ships over the water what am I missing what just happened yes yeah buddy okay Carson he was like seated all before yeah dude [Music] let's go I haven't taught you everything yet oh let's go what he is he's gonna send her into like different scenarios and force her to like confront them confront yeah dude this mirrors a bit um the book of Boba Fett where he had to go off in the desert and do like his vision quest you know and confront his own past yep D Bradley Baker oh my God he's in it let's go she's young oh oh my God this girl's gonna be the Envy of so many Ahsoka cosplay girls yes she got to be teenager Soca oh he looks so good oh yeah it looks really good oh her voice is good I like it okay just got her green oh my god dude like Vision Quest with Anakin Skywalker this is amazing oh with the old clones wow wow give us some more don't let it end next scene please it's like it's like the Ghost of Christmas Past bodies bodies bodies oh my God I love his costume it's right out of the Clone Wars and he's speaking more like the Clone Wars animated version the Matt Atlanta version It's Hayden Christensen but he changed the way he's I love it it was my fault they were following my orders I got them killed come here it's War Ahsoka this is amazing do you even want a Padawan you know teaching's not always cracked up to be what makes you say that joking you want me to be more serious I prefer it what if I want to stop fighting then you'll die oh lucky actress man she gets to play Tina Soca that's like that's I don't know it looks good so she's like 14 15 there oh they never changed their mind I got us out here chasing the Ghost Ship Chasing Ghosts is there a chance always damn straight so it was a Mazda yeah what was he like intense the understatement of the century intense intense dude okay so this is towards the end of the Clone Wars she has two balloons now this is more like Siege of Mandalore area the uh Ahsoka Troopers whole is this a whole nother actress or is it no I think it's the same it's the same dude is that Rex like it's the same actress oh yeah it is yeah yeah Mandalore he had parted Ways by now mm-hmm looks intense it was Soca within you will be everything I am all the knowledge I possess just as I inherited Knowledge from my master and he from his who are part of legacy but my part of that Legacy is one of death and War but you're more than that because I'm more than that you are more Anakin but more powerful and dangerous than anyone realized is that what this is about if I learned nothing don't don't say that from the beginning oh live red Vader or die oh let's go incorrect yo yo dude dude whoa oh he's gonna walk in it's Vader it's good yes oh no okay you just heard the oh dude that was sick that was terrifying dude look at his face look at his eyes dude or not Dark Side Ahsoka oh they're gonna meme the out of that image let's go that's what Luke does he throws the lightsaber down he's back There's Hope for you yet a little smack dang out of Hayden Christensen right there and it's gone they're gonna pull up right of the water or something she's getting rescued foreign [Applause] it is X-Men pilot sweet okay all right Ahsoka is alive it is so like Gandalf like has to go down and like face face the demon in hell and come back like that's definitely not the last we've seen of Anakin she's definitely gonna be back there yeah yeah at some point in some way it's out of classical literature you know it's like every hero's journey to the underworld Aeneas and Odysseus and like all these Heroes that have traveled to like hell or the underworld yep and returned yo they're showing her without any kind of headdress on for the first time yeah look at that no ears that's interesting she's kind of wearing a white I was just gonna say she's kind of making a transition towards she's like halfway between gray and white okay I see you felony I see you what I've been in a Starship before [Laughter] a Jedi Starship oh boy here we go to lightsaber yeah teach me you bet your ass he does no [Laughter] damn she's powerful hmm oh hopefully she doesn't feel betrayed yeah she feels betrayed by Sabine what else it's a fleet they're on their way well they're a little late no everyone's in trouble [Laughter] coming to arrest them yep I'll deal with this what's gonna happen to Carson Harris got some spleen in to do no but we don't want to see Carson get locked up no he's one of the good guys he's a good guy yeah this is totally the like that the the transition phase she's looking for the per gal she heard the Pergo uh-huh oh there they are yep yep per Gil let's go all right all right I like this squad yep even her like bracer is like white now so she definitely has making a little transition so uh how do you hitch a ride on a Pergo you just uh ask him beautiful so cool whoa getting to see them fully in the light here holy absolutely beautiful is that like a show it's like a big nice dude she's just gonna get out calm about it she's just gonna get out and like ride on it like be like Give You Up holy all right now she's actually transitioned into white now that's a crazy image dude she's literally just gonna like hop on Yahoo oh my god dude oh I hope this doesn't get messy where is General cindula I'm afraid that class [Laughter] ES oh my goodness look how it even has like baleen yeah like get in oh just makes me think of Empire Strikes Back and the flying out of the uh exegorth like worm in the asteroids yeah except here we're flying in to the mouth of the Beast wow are we gonna see it Glow and light up and everywhere oh my goodness it's huge that's from the inside of the whale yeah wow there's a lot there were so many Clone Wars Vibes in this episode beginning with these Flash the the Anakin stuff yeah that was such a treat and like for anybody that like you that isn't like a Clone Wars fan like you may not necessarily like see that and like have it be so visceral but like just seeing him in that armor like I said speaking in that tone of voice that wasn't that prequel way it was more sort of like Matt lanter's the way he speaks exactly and it just really felt like it was like the Clone Wars Anakin Clone Wars Ahsoka like I was pointing out that actress like nobody knew yeah I mean we expected something as much but I never really stopped to consider how if they were going to show young Ahsoka that they would do that and full on so I made the point to be like I really appreciated how they did the flashbacks which was that you know I tended to hate flashback episodes It's a Trope that a lot of shows rely on it wasn't like a flashlight fill space you know and this was not a space filler there was like just enough of it to make it exciting and like whoa what's gonna happen next without overdoing it or making that the whole episode or you know pausing the story so that we could go into like past land it was like just the right amount of it to keep it exciting and you likened it to book of Boba Fett how he had to go in his vision he went on his vision quest in the desert for him it was like lizard LSD or whatever right here uh she's basically like it was the world Between Worlds she kind of entered a in between life and death state where she had this confrontation whereas he had like a really intense drug trip basically but like it was a similar thing where they both went to like an alternate a near-death experience experience one way or the other and then confronted their past and came back changed in some way she's now making this transition into a soak of the white yeah or white clothes or you know her renewed sense of purpose and Boba Fett came back he got to make his his staff you know and like have that ceremonial and we had pointed out how graduation episode two of this I was like oh like they she turns into Ahsoka the white in that scene where everything else was getting mirrored for levels and it was just makes perfect sense that Dave filoni was still waiting to tell the story of her they had to get us there to that point um and you know I don't know if she's fully evolved at this point though because to me it felt like Anakin was kind of implying that like her lesson's not over it that there's more there's no point is that there's always more to learn yeah okay he did make that point he was like you're never never too old to learn because even in that like teacher-student scenario she ended up showing him something like she was able to like confront him yeah and where she was like you end up becoming Vader basically and he was like this isn't about that and like right so although that was chilling when he was like approaching her and there were the flashes of Vader yeah that was terrifying that was definitely terrible so well done yeah the way just his eyes and his face and the way he looked it was so well done yeah they did something similar with Palpatine in Rebels where he's like she's like this he's treating Ezra nicely but then you see him like blip in and out of like Sidious like right and it's very because it's this image of like nice Palpatine and you see the like the Sith version but we also saw ahsoka's eyes go sit there for a second where she was holding the Darth Vader lightsaber it's a delicate balance Light Side dark side oh my God so many like if you don't know if you heard me blurred out I was like they're gonna meme the out of that or I was like there were so many images where I was like that's I can see that all over Instagram tomorrow morning like it's gonna be lots of imagery of Ahsoka with the Sith eyes Ahsoka and Anakin fighting stuff that I mean wow as always I love to Yang in this episode who Yang is definitely I mean one of my favorite characters on this show for sure definitely the Star Wars droid humor where it's not like a complete carbon copy of secret he serves the same functional purpose right but there was also so much pathos when he was holding it was heartbreaking but that was absolutely heart rate I'm such a fan of the way that whole thing is shot or cgi'd or whatever you know combination of things is going on there it's those scenes are gorgeous yeah I loved all of it I loved this episode I I mean I I'm a little bummed that we didn't get to see any more Balin uh shins have been like with I know we're going right there we're about to get more of it and I know that this is an essential part of the story so I'm not disappointed in the episode by any means I'm definitely like oh like I'm still like I want more Balin I wanted him he wasn't there wasn't much of him at all in episode three so when we got like a good band of him in episode four was great so I'm still like that's what I want for next week because obviously this story is continues to move forward like that's definitely something you can I can say like every single episode of this show so far has been like okay what's next okay what's next I'm very like I'm always feeling like anticipatory of what's coming next well when you think about the fact that we're like more than halfway through and we still have all of these characters that like we know that thrawn is coming in this show and we haven't seen him yet you know so that's still to come yeah I know who the actor is and everything like that's still three more episodes now yeah yeah and um we have to wrap up this whole distant Galaxy storyline in the Morgan L Smith storyline as well as like Ahsoka and huiang and the pergol now so there's a lot that they and then we have to resolve that the story in some way yeah so there's still a lot left to achieve there was a lot of it because I had when I was thinking about Ahsoka the white after episode two and how she she really appeared like that in like wizard form in Rebels where it was like she had she had like a staff and looked like she didn't look like a warrior she looked like a wizard and here we obviously we saw her shifting into the white cloak a little bit um but it also made sense to me that like in her confrontation with Anakin she was really grappling with the like what if I don't want to fight and he was like well you have to and basically like she's more of a pacifist at heart and doesn't want there to be any fighting I mean like nobody wants there to be fighting but she in a way like she's graduating out of like the warrior version of herself and we're seeing her emerge into the Ahsoka the white like wizard like yes exactly like it's going to be about preventing War not about like participating in war yeah it's not about just pure Survival anymore it's she's gonna because she had a smile on her face there with the whales again and it was very like and who Yang's like do you know where we're going she's like nope we'll see what happens so she's doing much ready to like let like just give into the force and like you know trust in the force even by Ahsoka standards it's very Zen yeah you know and we don't even know she didn't draw her lightsaber at all so we don't even know if she even has it right or she might have lost it in the ocean there there she might not even have lightsabers a little moment during the flashback when she and Anakin had this little side conversation about like well what if I don't want a Padawan with my owner like and he says teaching are you sure you want a Padawan like teaching's not all it's cracked up to be oh I'm joking but there is a little bit of like of a nod there to the sort of tense relationship that she does have with her own Padawan which is now even tenser because Sabine really betrayed her yeah and they showed her in that scene like resolve that that betrayal you know when she was holding the broken map and like kind of remember like you know hearing them back into it and then she realized that Sabine gave it to bailin and yeah you can see the look on her face like she she felt betrayed a little bit Yeah so it was like oh okay so she's that's what I think she's gonna have to go back and spend more time with Anakin in the world Between Worlds and do some more training and evolving is because she's gonna end up having to confront Sabine about their Rift with each other 100 and that like I think Sabine maybe blames the so because in the previous episode we heard Sabine uh Balin mention that sabine's family died in The Purge right which was like new information to us um we could have assumed that before but now we know so it and if it's possible and he mentioned that it was like because your master didn't trust you or something maybe Sabine like had a forced vision of her family dying or or of Mandalore getting attacked and warned Ahsoka and Ahsoka didn't you know and then she maybe she blames so maybe there's like Ahsoka Fields exactly so you may even see Ahsoka and Sabine have to fight each other at one point or you know anything can happen here really but I definitely feel like that's not the last we've seen of Anakin it felt very I'll be back yeah like he has more to teachers um but also she has it seemed like she had stuff to teach him too like he seemed like he was even Force ghost Anakin or whatever that was was you know because we saw him in Anakin form and then Invader form and it was hard to really tell like what we were dealing with yeah in any given moment like and I'm still it's still sort of like upper grabs and left in question what exactly is going on there is you know is it is it the spirit of Anakin is it just her her own mind and her memories of Anakin like was that her just having a right you know a battle in her own journey in the mind exactly but Jason was hearing lightsabers clashing so that made it seem a lot more like physical yeah is he was he just hearing her mind as she was down there and Jason was just I think that's also significant that they kind of sowed the seed of Jason sindula being the like the next like okay he's a little bit young but like oh who Yang like do you know how to make a lightsaber ah yeah he's literally like the lightsaber maker for for the Jedi patter ones or like he teaches kids how to make lightsaber so it's you know that's clearly set up now where like Jason's gonna learn how to make a lights do his stuff they mentioned Kane and Jairus finally here that by name that was his father um so that's you know Jason's and duel is gonna be a character moving forward um yeah with that said we don't hear anything about him in the sequel Trilogy so it's very like oh does kylo ren kill Jason um that would be that would be tragic uh once again sound design and music is on par I think it doesn't it deserves praise and not just the music but like the Foley like the actual like sound effects are always so I noticed that when they were holding on the map it had that like Metallica yeah they're always just really really good Foley effects in these shows I loved us that many times yeah what else was there in this episode that was significant that I'm not thinking of right now I always have to go back and watch a lot of these to remind myself but oh man the Anakin Visions I really feel like they a bunch of that felt like clone I was watching Clone Wars it felt like Teenage Ahsoka and the corresponding Anakin in his like his Clone Wars armor I mean it might have been D Bradley Baker whose voice they had kind of shouting in the background as the Clones um because he did the the voices in the in the animations yeah um there was one clone character that was like oh go get the you know like we'll do that I don't think wait was that Rex like I couldn't tell it just like happened too quickly but that was definitely like a Clone Commander in her so I'm like that made me think like was that Rex we just didn't see his face it might have been because Rex has a blue pauldron I'll have to go back and look um by the time I have this edited I'll have it figured out um wow the way he like cut the um he like cut the pathway underneath it that she fell down into the like it was very like whoa trippy yeah but again beautiful yeah so good guys we're excited I can't wait to see you there were a few other things like we mentioned last week oh they never mentioned Zeb at all yet that's like the one character from the ghost crew that we haven't liked we've had Kanan Jairus who's dead named so like and we know that they had Deb in Mandalorian so right it would be great for them to at least include him somehow I don't know why he isn't here to begin with you think if we went to the trouble of like creating that asset for the Mandalorian that they would like use it I'm just surprised that they don't have them in Carson's crew because Carson's obviously buddy buddy with him in Mandalorian yeah and if he's dealing with Hera and all that you'd think he would like automatically recruit Zeb so maybe he still will maybe that's because Hera stayed back really Ahsoka is the only one that went does that mean now that like they're gonna have two separate story lines of like Monmouth ma Harrah Jason the politics of everything going on yeah and then Ahsoka hu Yang um Sabine and balen and all them in the other Galaxy yeah so is it like it's hard to know but damn dude Dave filoni you're a Madman you're doing crazy things with Star Wars space whales it's not even a cartoon anymore it's an actual live-action like you can go see them in in an actual that that huge one the the sense of scale bam made it work it doesn't it didn't make me like this is too weird no I think they're so gorgeous like yeah they're absolutely gorgeous when the cartoon you know it's funny because in the cartoon when they introduce per Gil in space Wheels it was very like wow this is they could only do this in a cartoon right like this is perfect for animation because don't even try to think of that kind of thing in a movie but like here it is and it's working and it's cool I don't know if they maybe just had to wait for the CGI to catch up with the but it looked expensive yeah it definitely looked expensive beautiful and I also heard that they showed this episode in theaters so I mean that looked like it was a pretty somatic cinematic experience there yeah with between the music and the imagery and oh yeah I also said that them flying into the perugal's mouth was like a like a mirror memory of them escaping the eggs agorth like worms yeah but it's also like Jonah in
