AHS 1984 Season 9 Episode 1 Review CAMP REDWOOD

hey everyone it's shirana from payer wait to today guys we are back american horror story fans where are you at it is season 9 okay american horror story 1984 episode 1 camp redwood so i posted like something in the community tab like hey who's ready for american horror story tonight and i was shocked to see that so many people didn't know that like i review american horror story like i went hard for apocalypse last season so for those of you who are new to the channel like girl i've been it i've been a fan since day one okay y'all since day one since the little haunted house the murder house whatever you guys want to call it i love me some american horror story so i was so excited they they are now back and then we can be together once again every single wednesday and i have just hm let me just take just take a breath and then we can go ahead and get into this because i made sure that i took a nap okay i went to sleep from like five something to 9 45 to make sure that i was up to make sure i could get this review out to you guys tonight so yes i'm probably going to regret this in the morning when i have to wake up at five o'clock but you know the things that i do for you guys so going into um the episode episode one um opens up with we're at camp redwood we have a little threesome action going on i was like guys while i appreciate the effort to at least put a sheet up over your little bunk bed i was just like yeah i just don't have sex in front of the kids because i'm assuming that they're camp counselors so i was just like really like you don't think that they can see your outlines like in the dark all the bumping and grinding that's about to happen i just yeah i didn't want to go to the back you want to go outside you don't try to hide the bathroom or something go to a shower like somewhere else besides in the bed around all the kids that y'all supposed to be watching i guess they said they was gonna work at the same time you know work hard play hard at the same thing on time so i guess it is what it is but at least they were using protection my man was using some lamb skin condoms i said does your dad have an allergy because he said he stole it from his dad but before they can get it all oh girls like did y'all hear this and he was like girl just be in that moment be here with us and then of course they end up getting murdered i was like you didn't have to like stab them at the same time so i will then go between him and go in between her and then the girl tried to get away he stabbed your own eye took the girl's ear i was just like what is happening what is going on right now but this season is definitely giving me some like friday the 13th meets halloween vibes like especially once we get to like mr jingle storyline but that's pretty much how it opens up it always has to open up with some type of murder to help us realize like what we're in store for for the whole season so i love how the retro uh credits are you saw that they wanted because it's kind of like it's 80s and so it has like that little retro feel you see everybody in the little aerobics things and it's not as creepy because normally the theme song really creeps me the heck out like i can't make it through all of it but because they have this retro 80s feel to it i can do that i was like guys i'm not even scared i can listen to the whole credits all the way through i ain't got to fast forward like i normally do i appreciate you guys for that and i love the little touch that you have and also too with the camera technique in the opening um sequence it really makes you feel like you was watching the old school like slasher film so i was like i see you guys kudos to that you guys are really sticking to this theme but we are quickly introduced to our characters for this season i'm sure there are more to come after we get past the credits and so we're first introduced to um xavier who's played by cody fern he was like the antichrist last season in apocalypse so basically he is a aerobics instructor um and an actor he said y'all i am a serious actor i don't just do those i don't do commercials i'm a methodic after you better put some respect on my name i said okay xavier like chill real quick okay we get it you're a serious actor we're not gonna play with you we're not gonna come for you so we see that he's like teaching a little robust class everybody like i felt like i was getting a workout watching i was like i need to take in the ropes class so i can get into shape because they're doing a little pelvic thrusts and then you saw brooke look in the chat i said y'all nasty y'all supposed to be up here working out and y'all sitting up here trying to like get your little groove on i thought it looks like they were giving each other even montana saw the looks to where she had uh she ran up on brick in the shower that's like montana you need to chill my name is played by billy lord brooke is played by emma roberts i was like girl just back up for a moment just chill cuz like i don't know you we in the shower all naked you all look in my personal space i just don't know what's happening right now but she's like you want me to hook you all up i saw y'all you know giving each other the eye and stuff like that she was like no i don't know what you're talking about it's like girl i saw that too so don't don't say we don't know what we're talking about but um we see that xavier kind of tells them it's telling them about these crimes that are happening with the night stalker which was a real person back in the 80s uh ramirez i think it's let me see what was his name i think it's a ramir i can't even think i'm trying to remember it off the top of my head and i can i think i thought i wrote it down but i guess i didn't but it's okay y'all just charged to my heart tried to see my mind on my heart richard ramirez so basically he was titled the night stalker um he broke into people's houses stole from them raped people murdered people and so he was like a real person terrorizing los angeles from 1984 to 1985 when he got caught um so i like how they're kind of mixing in the slasher films but also too mixing in some real life you know crime mysteries and stuff like that and so we see that we're telling there he's telling everyone like hey i'm getting the hell up out of here because i ain't got time to be losing my life for all of this so i took a job as a camp counselor i want to get away from all this mess and also to get away from the olympics that is happening in los angeles at the time and so he tells everyone like hey you guys are invited you can definitely come with me and then brooks and appear like i can't go because i got a couple classes trying to be a veterinary assistant and then my attendant know she was shady when she was like she was like oh look at you amy hi and i was like she had a point but i was like montana we're not gonna be petty with this right now but i just love billy lord so so much i just love her so much but yeah so that kind of sets everything up um so they all kind of go on this trip we see that brooke eventually decides to change her mind because the night stalker he actually breaks into her apartment and she ends up hitting him and she's able to get away because he leaves but he was like i will come and find you and i will kill you satan would help me i said here we go with this satan stuff again for a whole nother season i don't know what the obsession is with satan but for me not today satan that's what i would have to tell him but i didn't know you saw that she was looking at the ring it looks like an engaged marine i don't know if it's like her parents ring like her mom's ring or if that was her ring like she used to be engaged i don't know quite what's happening i'm sure that we will figure more stuff out as the season continues to progress so they all in the car she said i'm gonna help out of here you think i'm gonna let him come back kill me no so she decides to go with them and so they're you know chilling relaxing and so we see that uh we have montana xavier ray chet and brooke and i'm so happy to see uh deron horton who's from dear white people he's the black guy ray i was like hey fools so happy that you're on this season i was like i see you doing big things now so they're all doing drugs and stuff doing like cocaine i guess ray he's like an orderly slash like he got drugs too because he had the weed on deck and he had the cocaine on deck and i was just like yeah should you be doing this and you're supposed to be watching the kids like i don't understand what's going on kind of camp counselors these are but we see um as we get into later in the episode why they're just picking anyone to come watch these dang ol kids this summer so as they're driving they end up stopping at this gas station so everything is going fine the little gas attendant he looked a little off and i was like but you know what they out in the buildings like you know he probably just had a rough day he just needs some time to his stuff needs to get some rest that night but then he overhears them talking and they said that they're going to be camp counselors in redwood and he was like turn around y'all gonna die i said well let somebody tell me that i'm a i'm gonna die going to this camp i don't even like to be outdoors anyways okay it wouldn't have took nothing for me to be like hey guys so i'm gonna go back to the city and take my chances because you're telling me we all in the middle of nowhere at this camp especially at a camp where people with massacre i'm getting my black ass up out of here you ain't gonna have me sitting up here trying to get myself killed so i was just like everybody was just like whatever and i was like which i mean whatever this man just told y'all y'all was going to die i just didn't understand why they didn't heed to his warning but they get back in the car because they stupid it's american horror story so people have to make dumb decisions and we know they actually don't end up dead in any way so it doesn't matter so as they're driving we kind of learned a little bit more about chet's character um so chet it was basically supposed to be an olympics so that's why he'd been sulking having like a little issue he felt a drug test so that's why he wasn't in la for the limits at that time so that's why he wanted to get out of town get away and just not have to deal with anything so after driving xavier ended up hitting his dude and then they get out and i was like oh my goodness we about to do like i know what you did last summer if you guys haven't watched that you probably should go watch that very cliche what are you waiting for huh i couldn't help it i'm sorry but so that you know henna dude they get out of the car to check on him they're like what's your name he's like i don't know i can't remember and so then they were like okay well he fine you see he talking and stuff and you see no moves it looked like he he was already hurt before i hit him so it doesn't matter they look at him like breath like this this ain't the time right now obviously something's wrong with him so like let's just get him help i was like cause they were just trying to sit up here and clear his name but i was happy that he did take him so i guess we can go into the cliche of what happens and i know what you did last summer and so they arrive at the camp and then they take him to nurse rita hey angelica ross for pose hey candy girl so um basically she's a trauma nurse and so she uh says she's dehydrated she's gonna take care of her and make sure that he's okay but she kind of like you mean to tell me he was just on the side of the road she's looking like i know y'all lying but it is what it is y'all better be lucky here live right now and just dehydrate it so they make it to the camp they meet margaret who is played by leslie um i think it's leslie goodwin grossman so she's the owner of the camp and so basically she is like a goody two shoes she loves the lord she said her husband died and left her fortune that's why she decided to buy the camp and reopen it and i said ma'am margaret tell me girl did he die natural causes or you know is there a little mystery behind how he died since you accumulated this huge fortune i need the tea i need the answers so um she's basically uh giving them a tour of the whole campgrounds letting them know there will be no cohabitating the girls are in their little their little cabin the boys are in their little cabin girl shot shower in the morning boy shower and i was like yeah i don't want people to shower like every morning like i don't sorry that's just a whole nother thing you guys know how i feel about this epidemic in america today where people don't take showers but that's a whole nother conversation for a whole another time so in the midst of all of this i want to make sure that i got everything so in the midst of all of this they end up having like a little campfire because of course you can't be at a camp and not have the whole campfire thing going on and so this is when nurse rita basically tells them the story of what happened in the 1970s where it's like one of the biggest massacres that happened uh mr jingles who was a vietnam war vet and all this stuff he ended up killing he snapped one day at the campgrounds because it was the only place that he could get a job after he was dishonorably discharged because he fought in the vietnam war even volunteered for a second tour but then they found out this man was taking the enemy's ears cutting them off putting them on the necklace and putting it around his dango neck so they said oh hell no you got to go so they dishonorably discharged him so he got the job at the campgrounds and so one day he just snapped y'all and so that's what they showed us in the beginning of the episode he ended up killing autumn kids and then margaret was like you are wrong he didn't kill 10 kids he killed nine kids and then she showed us her ear and i was like y'all have to show all them with cut off ears i was like y'all yeah i wish i had the beginning of the episode but then i had to look at oh dude because we realized that he wakes up and we see that his ear is cut off too but then she shows that her ears cut off as well but i didn't want to know margaret how do you have your glasses like held up and i'm not even trying to be funny like i just really want to know because we ironically had this discussion at work that had was not even related to this but we had a whole another discussion about that it's a long story i'm not even going to get into it because we're probably going to hell for having that discussion in the first place but she tells the story she was actually in the room she ended up surviving and i was so disturbed first of all we saw that she got he stabbed her and then she like was laying down on the ground she woke up and she said she saw a light from the lord i said girl that was like the light above you but you know what the lord works in mysterious ways so he was probably working through the light so i'm gonna let you have that but we saw she had the blood in her eyes like oh jesus i can't even look at this right now then we see that she had her eyes open and then he came to cut her ear off and my girl didn't flinch i said bish how the hell you didn't move i mean that girl was like slice just i i was like you know what that was nothing but the lord because unless somebody cut my ear off i would have just spazzed all the way out if you guys seen once upon a time in hollywood what happened at the end that would have been me when they tried to cut my ear off so perhaps to her i don't understand and i don't understand why i guess she wanted to reclaim her power back she said she can't get it off her mind that's why she started decided to open up the camp that's why she got these wet camp counselors here because i wouldn't trust i wouldn't even trust my adult behind in the hands of any of you guys so that freaked me out then when she went to tell that story i've been like i'm definitely getting my behind up out of here you need to tell me that people have been murdered and you want me to sit here and take care of some bad little kids and there's murderers out here but then she's trying to make it seem like well he went to jail he's in the same asylum so he's not getting out and now it's like this is so halloween right now so that's why i guess they feel safe i'm trying to justify their their decision making but i i really can at this point so we see in the course of this episode um brooke goes to basically go check on the dude they hit with the car and so he wakes up he grabs it like you gotta get out of here i tried to do my best you're gonna die i was just like if anyone like brooke had to be the main one and needed to get her behind up out of there because somebody then grabbed her twice like the bandit told them at the gas station i just felt like i don't understand why they're not heating to these like mornings so in the midst of all of this they end up going to like have like a little co-ed like they hanging out chilling the cabins they're not supposed to and then trevor walken played by matthew morrison he was like you guys are supposed to be uh fraternizing with the different sexes and stuff and then he started laughing and i was like hold up we gotta talk about mr shoe if y'all don't know matthew murray needs to be mr schuster or glee yeah okay another ryan murphy show if you haven't watched it you should watch it because this ish until like maybe the last season but so i was like sir what's in your pants and i know y'all probably like shirana you so nasty don't act like i didn't see it too i mean that was like a very like look at me bulge i was like is that really you or did they pack something extra cause like i was like hey mr shoe how you doing when he gets so buffed we saw him take a shirt off cause him montana they was kind of getting busy in the little pool because they had this little aerobics connection with one another but when he kind of like did a little muscle thing before he jumped into the water i was just like hey cutie you was hiding all of that up under your little cardigans and buttoned up some ugly i was like i see you boo so i was also disgusted that y'all about to have sex you naked in this nasty nasty lake water that water looks so nasty so dirty like it's all types of chemicals in there y'all just getting bucky bucky ass naked i was just like y'all nasty and then you mean to tell me y'all still not gonna take showers until the morning y'all just um just nasty so then we see the little thorns thunderstorms happen all the cliches that we see in these types of films and that's when we kind of cut to the insane asylum where we see how mr jingles got away my man faked his own suicide to get the orderly to come in and then he basically ended up killing the orderly escaping letting all the people out and now his behind went back to camp redwood but before he did that he was being very disrespectful and went to the little gas station and why he crushed my man with the car i was like sir you had to do all of that you couldn't just stab him and get it over with quick you wanted to crush him with a car then stump on his face i was just like that is just so mean that was just really mean mr jingles and also john i think of john carroll lynch is his name i would never trust him if i saw him i realized i was like i'm not messing with you you play all the bad people american horror story you was the clown a couple of seasons ago like on freak show i was just like i'm not messing with him but he definitely looked very disturbed and we see he had the newspaper clipping with margaret in it so we know he's gonna go back to camp redwood and try to kill her kill all the other little people but i was just like he too much for me i can't take him but before we kind of get into the end of everything what's happening i want to make sure that i caught everything else so i think i did there's a couple more things that i need to cover but i just want to make sure that i cover all of the main bases of everything oh well my girl the chef when the chef was one of the people who was that worked at the camp before as a camp counselor when uh xavier said something to her she was like you couldn't handle this if you wanted to i said you better tell him but we see that in the midst of all of this um they're having a conversation they're watching the olympics and then chet's being a little because brooks says something he's very rude to her ray calls him out on it then he crunches his can throws a cannon right he tries to deflect it but the can ends up cutting his hand and so he was like you didn't go all your little raid your roids rage taking steroids and so he goes to basically find um something to take care of his room but i like how a womb but i like how a nurse reader was like uh excuse me i'm off the clock i ain't here to help you you better go ahead and take your behind and take care of your own cut hand and so we see that brooke all thirsty behind be like he didn't mean that and then she was like let me go get some stuff for you he's like you don't have to do that she's like it's okay and then she runs into she goes into it's course raining now she goes to find some um supplies and then she sees that she was looking for oh dude who got hit by the car did she see him hanging dead on the dang on coat wreck and then she look out the window and see mr jingles so she screamed i screamed mr jingle's looking crazy i'm looking crazy in mr jingles and then she started running outside in the like most annoying sequence ever but very realistic to 80 slasher films this girl running outside in the rain this girl slipped and fell so much hit her head on the branch fell down like rolled and tumbled down the hill i was just like you are really committed to this girl like i was just like get your ass up and go ahead and get to safety so she tries to tell everybody what's happening they don't believe her they're looking outside like girl mr jingle's in jail like you just you just scared but we see that um as everyone was chilling later that night she goes to give montana montana got a knife and that i was like girl why are you sleeping with a knife and thank goodness that brooke decides to ask a question and she was like i have a um i have a very suspicious nature i said well you know what if it's one time to have one it's definitely at this camp redwood so i can't even be mad at you she goes out to the telephone she answers the phone then you hear the king's keys jingling like it's mr jingles but then the old dude who broke into her apartment the night stalker he he basically pops up out of nowhere i guess they led his behind the camp railway it's like well dang satan works very quickly that you made it all the way out there a whole less than 24 hours later and then the episode goes off trying to think did i miss anything else y'all i don't think that i did i think that i got everything so yeah overall for me i love this kind of night to these 80s slasher films we had huge themes of friday the 13th and halloween i love the camera work that they did in the beginning of the episode for the 70s portion of the massacre that originally happened but can we talk about this music did you see when they were first driving that's like why does it feel like somebody's watching me i do not own the rights to the song in case i try to find a reason to demonetize my video but overall me being realistic about this episode like i was entertained by the people that are in it even though i'm still sad that sarah paulson cassie bates like dennis o'hare evan peters all my like og's are not in the season but i'm excited to see what these new additions to american horror story um has in store for us with 1984 but i was kind of like like i'm into it but i'm not like into it until like oh beach did you watch american horror story last night it wasn't on that level for the first episode but it was enough for me to keep watching but i wanted it to just be a little bit more and i guess it felt more so like an introduction than necessarily really trying to get people invested into uh this season because you know some seasons be hit or miss y'all you know i love american horror story but it seemed like every other season like you'll have a really good season and then you have just like a i'm watching this out of obligations since i watched all the other seasons but i'm really not feeling it so i really hope that that's not the case for american horror story 1984 but i am willing to give this another chance so i can talk to you guys every single wednesday so yeah those are pretty much like my thoughts on the episode i'm interested to know what did you guys think about this first episode were you like oh beach this episode was so good or were you like me were you kind of like i don't know but i'm still going to tune in let me know in the comment section below and also let me know what's your favorite american horror story season so we can kind of gauge you know everyone like covenant murder house was my favorite so that's why i loved apocalypse so much because they infused my two favorite seasons so let me know what you guys are rocking with what's your
