one of everybody it's Kyle figley I'm here in the Enchanted Tiki Room Humber WonderCon 2016 in sunny Los Angeles California on TV our TV and to my writers ming-na wen Elizabeth Hendrick Henstridge say that wrong yeah that was perfect yeah Chloe Bennet of agents of shield room ladies we just have the boys phrases shielded here we had Brendan Luke they were a bit riled and I feel like I bought what I know what is that yeah we're like a bread of rye a bottle of dry bread yeah we're off the cuff and in it slightly yeah I wouldn't say an inappropriate way you know but I mean they were right that makes sense right I feel like you guys we can either really class it up with the ladies or a really definitely ago that um we will fail it yeah well essentially I'm gonna ask everybody this question that I love its own going to do it anyway but I was at the premiere of the pilot that they did at comic-con a few years ago really seem like a century all you guys came and we did round heckle interviews and I feel like maybe at that point you'd only filmed two or three episodes and so all of us what is your character about and you guys are like well we don't know actually it's so early and since then you know the sky is now Daisy Gemma has been to another planet we know everything about Mays background and her tragic backstory and all this stuff I mean yeah could you guys have ever anticipated the kind of depth at which you guys be able to play these characters over the years or when you came in it was just like let's see what happens and can you wait and see know what it's a different I mean you've got your name and yes you even human oh yeah yeah she's still really pretty last season I'll just have a small heavy ball yeah yeah um no it's been really I to think of how much we've gone through since that since that time at makann is my could like cry because it's we it's been such a journey because we really started out as a team of actors who didn't know each other very well we were thrown to you know Marvel's first go at live-action television and there was a lot of pressure on the show and then the characters were also thrown together and there's a lot of pressure of them to work as a team and there's also characters that except for Coulson's right yeah nobody we were not in any of the original Marvel Comics yeah and so they they're they're all these new characters that our audience had to get to know and hopefully like yeah yeah and that first Sunday I get Comic Con was in say night of anything else that feel like I'm still recover I know still hurt but it is I mean our writers have been so tremendous in creating these story arcs for us and and allowing these characters to have the mystery and yet the tenacity to to overcome challenges or you know deal with grief in their own ways and and and the family dynamic keeps changing within our own group and yet we're still fighting together and surviving together and it's just they're they're amazing they've been really amazing and creating these and they're great at keeping secrets peace they've had this funny five year plan they never tell us anything I feel like the day before I mean for what for like and up until I knew that I was gonna change into some different character at one point cuz they kind of hinted at it so I would be like and why she Hulk my come on that's not that I remember that you're like in the early comic and I knew he cried oh why am i oh boy yeah and they were like stop I'm like every day is like go home or like leave like shut up stop asking and then finally you know we find you know we find out but they're very good at keeping secret yes um I guess we are too though if you think about it right because you're a good point yeah we - cuz I'm horrible at it yeah so we're so fearful saying anything that we and that's why we have to be an appropriate rack to all of you from not giving you any animation yeah let me try to get it so there's just spoiler what the show is going but but where you guys see your character that because you guys been through so many changes on screen I'm Chloe started with you you know like everybody saying daisy is now in some ways a completely different character than Skye was yeah and her role in this season as the person who is both a champion of this idea of a team and a champion of the supporting of humans and also a person who's thrust into being a leadership position in that and I feel like that whole journey has come with growing pains for the character and that must be part of where we're pushing as we get towards the new years whether or not she can actually pull this together I mean do you have faith that that she is going to rise to the occasion and really bring these guys together or is it well what's great about the show and about Marvel is that what what's so relatable about the characters is that you see these people in leadership positions but it's not just an obvious choice you know so many so many times you see you you're kind of dropped into a show and there's just the leader and it's just who they are and that's they're in a position of power and they're confident and that's just it they're the leader and they're confident they're leading everybody but for Daisy I think what makes her such a good leader is how much she's been through it so she can relate to everyone on the team and she really has and she is so much empathy and that's what I love about playing her as she she really genuinely cares about everyone so deeply and she wears that really have it wears heavily on her you know cuz she obviously went through this big and human change and you know that there's basically a whole episode edited to her really dealing with that change in it's really important to help other people for her and so I think what makes her such a good kind of a how would you describe like a unconventional leave yeah long day uh unconventional leaders that she uh she's really kind of still learning and I think that's what that's so realistic that you know leaders are you know it's almost like when you when you grow up and you um realize your parents are just humans parenting and done with yeah yeah they have flaws and they've raised you and they really just done your best and that's such an eye-opening moment I feel like that's that's kind of a version of what Daisy's been going through in front of everyone on the show is you know she's really just trying her best to you know and it means so much to her and I don't know if she sees herself as a leader yet but I think she's kind of like a baby giraffe kind of stumbling and it's not gonna be as easy as people think it's acting like oh she's overcome she's inhuman now she's gonna leave everyone it's that there's definitely yeah exactly there's definitely as - help - yeah thank you she's very honest yes y'all happy to say I don't I'm gonna try my best I don't know and yeah there's like a there's kind of like a self deprecation there that I'd condemn a she alleges she's very confident about her own opinions as well yes I think yeah very strong and I think that is the quality of becoming a leader is that she believes in herself and she believes that she can and she has some of the right choices in what she's thinking and what she's you know who she's choosing right but she also knows that she's not always right I think and I think that's what makes I think that's probably one of the most important traits of you know and I love leader and I love how her characters evolved to being so anti-establishment yeah yeah into suddenly being think someone who wants to yeah I know creating an establishment that would help and and enhance the betterment of you know the world yeah I mean she was lost for a really long time she was an orphan she wanted to find her parents and then all of a sudden she does and it's not what she expected you know and your mom drives to kill you and your dad is hide um so she's kind of it grown into this it's crazy to think that my first audition scene first sky was out I was talking to Deathlok or 2j or to Mike and it's like you're gonna be a superhero duck how cool that's literally the line and to think of where I am now it's pretty crazy yeah that's crazy well Elizabeth them with Gemma's character I got to say my wife watches the show over my shoulder like I am there and I'm watching and we have a little wife she taking care of the baby and she wasn't really doing autre o'cool whatever and then the episode that was you on the planet came and my wife was like on the edge of her seat like oh that was a good daughter my top three favorite episodes yeah it was so much fun um but I feel like Gemma's character is somebody that the fans loved she is such a lovable presence on the show and she has been through so much this season we did it more another like kissing babies yeah but are you rooting for her happy ending coming up or do you like the idea that okay I get to play some new tragic twist that's gonna come um I mean a bit of both I think you know you have to earn those moments where a tragedy in a way because you asked me a lot of the audience to care if you're crying or upset or something um and I think that the way that it's going right now is she's kind of she's rebuilding her relationship with Fitz and who knows how long that can stay is good luck yeah I'm up for having a bit of closure and happy nursing you know moving forward there was a point where I could not do a scene with the under custody who plays Fitz without crying and they'd have to say Elizabeth you're not crying this scene but when he like had his much shaky hand and he couldn't finish his sentences I mean I'd leave what just really liked it so now it's nice that he's healing and Gemma's healing and so yeah I mean that episode was amazing to get the challenge to do something like that but I'm happy to see her kind of become you know more together yeah I mean with Melinda may it's been so much fun because um she cries so much it's the worst place but she is the she's the rock even so many ways and we recently got to get her whole tragic backstory and now her ex is out there doing whatever he's going to be doing as the he comes back into the show on the Inhumans storyline and all that but I feel like you get to be the slow fuse you get to be steady and then now it's time for a spotlight episode for you and then it's like oh here's so much stuff to work with are you anticipating another episode like that for Melinda at some point soon or is it just you're waiting until whatever they do well we wait for Josie that's the honest truth yeah it's really been an an incredible fun challenge to play a character like this because she is such the antithesis of who I am it's remilia and and it sometimes it's really frustrating you know as an actor to to want to have more of really like I mean she's a human in a different way yeah I have a more human connection with these characters because she does care about them so much she had she is the maternal aspect between her and Coulson of this family and yet she does it in a very unnatural way he's got a weird reaction we McKenna and I'm conventional thank you it's so tough to show that she cares without showing it yeah without telling it's all in her actions you just the hardest thing to do you just have a like kind of I don't straight expression enjoy something like me special since you're so different from it cuz you're so so unless she's so loving and so caring so bubbly and Yahweh so didn't have to shut it so you know one of the notes I always get from the directors or producers is okay lessening because and I'm like let me just go through the emotions during rehearsal so that I could you know get her all out because um it is it I don't want to seem like OneNote you know and you never do you know maybe she's been you know Skye's Esso and now she's taking care of Simmons and really believing that you know she needs to be able to protect herself she's very very concerned about you know the family's well-being yeah and and yeah so any anything that the writers want to throw at me yeah she really shows how much she loves people by beating them up yeah I'm not even sure that they can handle themselves right yes making sure they have the tools they need and give them something yeah themselves and that's the best gift I think yeah thank you yeah appreciate well we're out of time to thanks so much for stopping by you guys Thank You saison ABC I'm Kyle Fuji and you're watching CPR you
