so as excitement it goes with that and from my viewpoint it's more just Ain you know true to who we are and how we want to play and making sure we bring we've been what we need to bring to them to challenge along you saw what flicks I have stood last wait you know Sellwood will have a tagging job somewhere if you've got a plan for if those guys do go to Sloane or one of them goes to Lynch you don't know I mean obviously last year we weren't part of it but we were able to sit and look at the two teams who did go straight through and and we felt our breast preparation was to do it we did which was spend some time up there probably mentally and physically refresh the guys a little bit which was great but then probably our training we've trained on fairly strongly we haven't sort of gone into the just sort of rest and recover and get ready for the prelim which we've done some pretty heavy competitive work so that we're prepared for what it's going to be a you know a fierce opening to a brilliant final given the weather tonight that's probably a little bit of a bonus so you were able to go up there and train a little bit of heat because it's a very barmy night tonight yeah it's a beautiful night so you know I've had a few wet and windy days here in Adelaide this year but tonight's gonna be a great night for booty and can't wait for it enjoy the next half hour an end yeah really sad the way it's ended for them about great careers and different careers and Rumaki obviously drafted from South Australia as a skinny kid and never put on an answer muscle in his entire career and Tom Lonnegan just a wonderfully courageous journey losing a kidney looking like his career was done and fighting back to have a great career I will go down have a chat with him they will be absolutely flat they'll be shattered with tonight but greater them to be able to offer up their time and have a chat in their last AFL game argument doc that Tommy lonegan has been the most courageous I feel player for decade yeah and didn't stop him going did it he's playing a great players has as as Andrew Maki great great guys fantastic players and they'll be they'll be sorely missed that always been there that I could get here no I think it's built over the tears I think you know there's good times even this year L in the year where yeah we were playing playing some good footy but it probably wasn't as complete as would have liked and great great to the the pliers you know the the work they've done it said previously you know the connection they've got allows him to up form like I did tonight which is which is fantastic and you know that the atmosphere door not incredible we have 53 if they as a 900 yeah Adelaide suppose I couldn't hear ya the guys on the pinch when I was trying to talk the guys on the bench it was that layout and and we keep the first two girls and I was sort of reverberating through the coaches boxer massive thank you to all their fans and supporters have turned up tonight and it's you know as on out certainly gives applies a significant lift and you know crates have wonderful atmosphere supplying the 15 day break coming in must've worked wonders whatever you guys did last week then with that training session yeah look I said yesterday we're really confident in the preparation we've had and we we thought we'd trained to an appropriate level but you know the start was fantastic their guy was ability to jump out the box and really get pressure on the ball and we now share and obviously at the scoreboard pretty significantly early got the game funerai hold firm a late goal and then just must be thrilled with the second half yeah look it was you know we we always expected that we're gonna come at some point and you know we were sort of I think it was nine to one nine girls to one you know and midway through that second quarter and then they kicked three or four in a row and you know you know the danger of their side with the quality of players I've got so you know we're always mindful that they were gonna have their moments and I think it was important we we kept the school board taking over which you know allowed us to maintain that sort of Bufferin and in the second half we granted out here so don't is that complete or do you think there's even more lifts in them I think we'll continue to the we'll learn from did I do some things today which you know I would I would already look at it and review and go look when it did Tory some of those things up there's no such thing as you're never gonna be a complete complex organic still keep working on things individually collectively yeah we've got ourselves in a in a great position to apply it for a premiership that's ultimately the start of year that's that's what your own to doing you know we still have some work to do that so what do you think you're significantly better than what we thought was very very good at the start of the year when you're 6 and 0 look I think we've you know probably found different ways in terms of winning I think early in the season we were you know we were able to score quite heavily and and that was you know what got us in and one of scams at footy um I think now we're probably more even around we can score in different ways you know we can you know we can sort of play at different levels as well so um yeah that's all part of the learning that's what you learn every week every gang gives you that opportunity and tonight it's no different they were I said there's some things which we did really well and there's some things which we'll keep working on and we'll get it yeah I only got one week to to worry about those things but a lot of positives out it's not that what Wake is that enough for McGovern or is it too long for him well we'll give him every chance we'll give him every chance I mean he's he's he's back he's running to a reasonable level noun yeah clearly you have to you have to do some some training of some pretty high level this week for us to feel comfortable taking in but you know I sweat in just before and he's you know a real positive mind frame and he's you goom's have every chance to apply that to all of their derelict and again our whole group is not relying on you know tonight it was was Charlie needy contributed significantly as well I think just kick for but you know we've throughout the year we sort of we're not trying to rely on one one guy to hit the scoreboard you know and yet they do a lot of other things around there and Charlie the school would really well tonight which was pleasing that um you know really even contribution again and as I said earlier that's that's when we play this fully is when we get a real even spread of contributors and and that's across all the phases and when they do that and we're able to you know maintain pressure and be when we win the ball and move the ball pretty efficiently I know the games only just finished but have you had time to think about how you approach next week is do you allow the players to embrace the education or how you are that you have to you know I'm fortunate I've been there before and you have to you it's not a normal guy it's the rally this is the last game of the year this is reapplying for for the Premiership and it is a different way but you embrace the excitement of that week and we'll go through some of the logistics of the week when it looks like with our players early on and then we'll concentrate on what we need to do which is play again with footy and win a game of footy and that's that's how we'll approach it which will be no different the other game even though will be a different gun but it's exciting that's that's what we'd fight for these games are what we play for well a little bit of the bond a little bit of just how they've matured as a group we do a lot of things with our playing group which is around not only educating how to play but you know a lot of work in the in the space whereby how they how they build relationships with each other and so some of that's through past events and a fair chunk of that is through things we've done in the recent times which is just allowed them to probably give more of each other to each other and that helps build trust and ultimately that's what I believe is important in winning big games of footy is is trust between people that they know that the guys will get their job done yeah and that's their group you know they you know they've worked hard all year and they've grown throughout the year as well and again tonight though their energy in there's the pressure around the ball was just fantastic but again there was it wasn't like it was coming from one or two sources wasn't like Sloane had to drive it all it was across the board so even you know here at Greenwood comes in and places wrong so yeah it said better said that's the placing part when you get a you know you get a real even contribution with all their guys and they play the way we know they're capable of I'm just super proud of them oh yeah look it's yeah old finals are gonna be they're gonna be tough to win and tonight was no different we knew we were in for a contest I think their guy's career they jump they have really well and we're able to then you know hold it off but you know that's next we could be a different game against yeah another quality opposition so as much as we're pleased with tonight you know again making a grandfather was not what it's about it's actually about winning the grandfather and that's what we NASA died so it's on doing the premiership success do you feel any different yep coaching that's different coaching because you know the realities you know I guess the plies do it yeah we're here as coaches and myself and our coaching group we you know we try and educate them we try and train them which I believe in them and to let them go and do what they do and do it as well as I can and and sometimes the challenge in this this time of the air is to is to not come on over coach is to actually now they they know it if they don't know the game style now and they'd honest in the ways we can adapt to the game then we haven't done our job and you know sometimes the coach you want to give them more and more information but that's sometimes not helpful you know it's better together the one will imply and tonight we had pretty simple focus a few simple key points and they're able to get an execute those based on what we've done in previous works not specifically on what we need to do tonight they understand what what creates winning for this team and you know they're able to they're able to execute that tonight which is great moment like tonight preparing for the sense of occasion that Saturday will be when it's I mean you know was like that yesterday with that biggest crowd yeah that's that's the reality I think the guys will go to sleep tonight put the head on the pillow I know that next week they can apply in front of hundred thousand people em so yeah that's a given so there'll be no surprise we run out there and there's a hundred thousand there so we will expect that but it's it's it's you have an experience into experienced it so as I said it'll be it'll be a game of footy it'll be a different week will embrace the week and will prepare as we always do to come really to play and perform obviously go go for two that I handed materials uh we prepared for both Emily that was that was chillin with decision you know I would you know we could have tossed the coin whether who's gonna start the midfield or start forward but yeah we had plans in place for both and we're probably more focused on what we need to do from from midfield viewpoint to try get some early field position and score pressure and as I said the end that the crowd early was was phenomenal in terms of their their support and lots we keep a couple of early girls it was you know I wouldn't have wanted to be in a G long jumper when the crowd was up in a band it was it was a great atmosphere mentioned Greenwood before I say carrying a injury no no four cans have place we lo yeah again another two examples of guys that just played their role and I thought and when how does we know he's got some speed and obviously the strength to met someone like Dangerfield so that early he was he was good in that space and Tolly was really solid or not I thought I thought he you know against the weight of a few inside fifties at Toms I thought he held out really well Tom's been there before as a player first time as a coach remarkable to think for all of the players it's gonna be a week that no one's experience so it's all new I'm not to dream to not a week to dream but a week to get it right yeah exactly right I love the fact that he said you do it as much as you try to say that you know you've got a plan as if it's any other week it's not it's grand final work you have parade you have a lot of stuff going on and and I know as a silly as it sounds you've got cousins you've got everyone ringing your period so it is a very different work you do have to embrace it at the same time you know enjoy it remarkable woman I know we've spoken about it the opener from Layton who it was terrific but through Walsh passes away Dean Bailey passes away they lose Jack Gunston could tip it Nathan Bock Phil Davis Patrick Dangerfield yeah they've just won a prelim final but ten goals and that and that word resilience yeah and that was spoken about in in that open or with Lleyton Hewitt and that's exactly what these club is and and it's been an almighty effort to get where they've gotten to given all of those things that you just mention and they don't have a top ten draft pick the other thing that Don pipe was great on was the more we give of each other to each other the more we trust each other the better the relationships the bigger the bond the better the club I love the fact that you know he said you don't have to over coach I mean he's he's he's done a remarkable job I mean this is the second year yeah and they're into a grand final so he has to take a fair bit of credit for where this club sits absolutely so brutal prelim funnels win and you get this extraordinary week in this great prize and a great opportunity lose you're not yep and that stays with you until you get another opportunity you know of playing finals footy again you don't forget big losses like that yeah time for break he'll wrap things up on the other side Rory Sloan he'll join us on game day Belinda slow and his wife is gonna be posting the Brownlow Medal red carpet on Monday night so it's a Sloan fest Sunday Monday the opportunity to worry on settler that things up on the
