[Music] welcome back Thursday night we're doing finally doing the walkthrough video of our Storyteller Overland stealth mode now we're calling it The Giga mode speaking of the exterior we've got this beautiful wrap job done by our friends over at blackout Graphics Nath and his crew they do fantastic work they came up with this beautiful design we replicated the Storyteller Overland Graphics in the in the vinyl on the bottom we put gig mode on the side instead of stealth and then we went ahead and went with the Retro Stark Hutch style Stripes check out the other side come on Mars has helped me out with the camera tonight thanks Mars hey hey this is night number two actually at filming because we did this last night and I screwed up the audio so here we are again green on this side purple on the other it's just a we're we're just wanted to do a quick walk around I say quick it's going to be a few minutes here talk about everything we've done to this van so far because we've done a lot I've been saying we're going to get video of everything and I haven't done it so here we are we're going to get into it obviously we've done the vinyl work with blackout they took off the the Storyteller stuff on the bottom we replicated it put our own little spin on it so we've got that going on and we'll just start on this side kind of work our way around the van talk through everything and then I'll show you inside a few things we've done and uh we'll just kind of give a summary of everything we've done so far it's getting really close but again as all of you know anybody who owns a van knows it's never really done so the first thing you'll notice uh aside from the vinyl the ladder we've gone with a backwards Adventure mods side ladder I really like these ladders there's a nice wide rung they look really Burly and strong and they're nice and stable to to stand on and get up and down on the van I use the van a lot in the snow so for me having something that I don't slip off of is very important so there's the ladder you might notice the roof rack is no longer the front runner roof rack that comes on the storytellers this is a backwards Adventure mods Drifter roof rack and I don't really use my roof rack for a platform to stand on and and go take Instagram shots or any of that so I didn't need the platform up there I didn't really like how the front runner rack looked on the front and I wanted to add a big light bar which you'll see in the second so we went with the Drifter roof rack uh it it gives us a spot to put a 50in light bar on the front we've got a plenty of mounting points for lights on the sides and on the back and I think the look is way cleaner than the front runner it's very symmetrical I think it just looks really nice Backwoods also has provisions on the passenger side to Mount Your awning so you can take the awning right off of the front run rack use the brackets that backwood provides and mount it right back up on there there plug it in so everything works just like Factory and it looks it looks really really good so working our way down here on the back you can see we've got a a full complement of Overland stuff uh Backwoods Adventure mods Jerry's cans holder we've got an owl Vans Monster Box and Owl Vans medium Expedition box these both have drop down doors so you have like workbench style tables here we have the Expo rear door carriers these are phenomenal if you haven't checked out we've got a couple videos talking about these my favorite carrier hands down check them out check out the videos everything's going to be linked in the description below so check out that video but the X BS this is what I put on all my van so I've got the xull on here we've got the xull tire basket beautiful thing about this setup you can put it on either door so I wanted to put on the passenger side just to show that you can it's got the uh the security nut here so you can't steal the tire you don't have to worry about a little pad lock trying to secure your tire Tire you're not getting that off unless you have the specialty key key for this particular lock we also have our adrenaline Vans rear door emblem of course powder coated in a chartreuse to match the rest of our colors and then underneath you can see the Backwoods Adventure mods rear bumper this is their uh super clean rear bumper with the step in it it's compatible with the factory hitch I tow all the time with my van so we're Towing my snowmobile trailer it integrates well with the bumper and then I have some Pathfinder lights for reverse lights I have these wired into a switch Pro Controller up front so I can turn them on at will I can turn them on and leave them on when I'm loading stuff or backing up and hooking up to the trailer and I also have the perimeter Lighting Up on the Roof wired to the switch Pro as well so I have three circuits of lights on the roof left right rear the rear lights in the bumper and all the lights on the front are controll switch Pro as well so uh you can just turn stuff on as you want you can dim it with the switch Pro you can change the position to the switches on your controller super cool very versatile controlling unit for that we use switch Pros in all of the builds where we have more than three circuits and they're they're really the only way to go when it comes to switching stuff moving around the van we have the agency 6 storage lockers from Al Vans phenomenal little storage locker that you can put whatever you really want back here they're lockable this is not a waterproof compartment and it does get Dusty so I'll put air hoses or recovery gear or something like that that I don't really mind if it gets a little bit damp or a little dusty but just gives you some nice storage in here we've got you can see our exhaust tip here coming out the back this is not Factory normally the exhaust comes straight out the back on this and we changed it up because with the rear bumper the Backwoods re bumper if you leave that exhaust on a short van like this it'll just pump a bunch of exhaust into the bumper get super hot and actually melt all of your wiring harness so we add a 90 and add the tip and and just redo the exhaust it looks really clean and you don't have to worry about melting stuff in your bumper you'll notice the xbow fender flares now these are finished in a polyurea coating a bedliner coating our friends over at Colorado Coatings here in montre do all of our bedliner stuff for us they do all of our fender flares both FS have the fender flares done we just did a revel with this exact setup it looks fantastic uh we did a nice deep gloss black for this you can do it in a matte finish they you can color match it if you want it's a really cool finish but super durable won't scratch easy enough to clean you can just scrub it with a brush get the dirt out of it so I I really like the the coating on the fender flares and if you look from the back Mars you can kind of see these are uh you know wider than stock tires but we still have coverage over the tire to keep the vinyl and the van paint protected from Rock chips they really do offer a lot of extra width on the side speaking of Wheels tires these are the agile Overlander HD Wheels this is a new wheel from agile off-road super cool wheel 32 mil offset on the wheel it's a 17-in wheel these are a 255 8517 tire for Mickey Thompson they're the Baja boss made in the USA really really like these tires and they're a tall skinny tire so 255 being the width 85 is the aspect ratio so a lot of sidewall on these and then 17-in wheel of course uh big fan of the pizza Cutters or Greyhounds as I like to call thems Greyhound package tall and skinny it's the way to go but it cuts right through the snow cuts through the mud and it works it's a really really good combination tire size and wheel combination for this van behind the wheel you can see the Alcon agile off-road big brake kit so we got big Brakes in the rear and in the front of the van and then behind that you can see the the leaf spring pack this is part of the agile rip kit the ride Improvement package we put tons of these kits on every year so you can see the rear springs the fox 2.5 in rear shocks upper and lower double Shear brackets and uh all the other suspension components needed to complete that rip kit as we move forward we've got of course the same wheel tire package up front Expo fenders up front which we have cut to fit around the Backwoods bumper normally this would extend down along with the factory front bumper the remaining components up front that you'll notice we have the rest of the rip kit so auxiliary Fox shock in the front a coil over package on the billstein B6 front strut and then of course the agile Alcon big brake package up front and uh one thing I didn't mention on the other wheel these have a dual valve Sim hole so you can do a rapid inflate valve and a rapid deflate valve and if you haven't checked it out we just did a video comparing filling via the normal valve stem versus the rapid inflate and the same with the deflate side and uh if you haven't seen that check it out in the description below we'll start at the bottom here you can see the Backwoods Adventure mods front bumper this is their full guard bumper with a bull bar in this part of the country we have a lot of animals on the road so Extra Protection for the band and I just like how they look they look really Burly so this bumper has a provision for a 20-in light bar I went ahead and put the Baja Designs at S8 light bar in the front 12,000lb winch with a synthetic line a factor 55 inch and 1 half thick fairlead the flatlink expert hook and then some recovery shackles here on the front all of these are synthetic line friendly we've got Squadron Pros in an Amber driving combo and a clear driving combo in the bumper and then uh moving on up to the hood we have the ca tune Hood mounts for the ditch lights Squadron Pros again in an Amber driving combo on the hood and then up on top we have the Baja onx 6 this is a amber and clear combo light it's a curved 50in light bar holy cow that thing is awesome uh big fan of that you can turn on the Amber or the clear independently or at the same time again that's all wired into a switch Pro and we'll show you the controls inside here in a second uh one thing I want to point out on the vinyl we did this uh embossed logo here on the top I love this look and this is something that if you guys get vinyl work done we can do stuff like this we can do embossed logos underneath it's really subtle it's a cool way to show off your brand or your name or whatever you want to put on your van and then you don't have the edges of a little decal getting peeled up when you're trying to wash the van or something like that just keeps it nice and protected yet you still have that logo showing through so that's a pretty cool feature I'm going to pop the hood real quick and show you some stuff under there check it out one hand look at that hood struts from CA tuned Offroad pretty much a must on any van in my opinion they are uh they're just so much nicer than dealing with a prop rod and you don't have to worry about some kid um at a random oil change place when you're on the road trying to shut your hood and bending your prop rod and ruining your your hood but you should never be going to Jiffy Loop to get your oil changed because we do it here so keep that in mind up here we have the ARB dual air compressor this is powering our onboard air system and also the agile ARB air Locker in the rear you can see up here we have a a vent that looks kind of like the filter on the side of your air compressor this is actually our rear diff vent so a lot of times what will happen is uh your rear diff breather will come out of the frame where it where it's uh supposed to reside from the factory it'll fall onto the exhaust and melt and then seal off and you won't be able to have a vented differential so we run a a breather kit from ARB all the way to the front and put it up high here so that you don't worry about getting water in it and it just keeps it from falling onto the exhaust here we are inside the van few things up front that I wanted to show you guys I have not done a lot to the rear of the van but we have a ton of stuff coming from Canyon Adventure Vans very soon I think within a couple of weeks and the whole back of the van is going to be decked out and Canyon stuff so that's going to be pretty exciting I do have inhabit design Works floor mats throughout uh they're full kit it's really really nice stuff so I have that in the Deep gray which you can see um yeah check it out it's just really nice material to walk around on easy to clean easy to remove if you spill wine on it you just go pressure wash it off uh motor oil same thing Citrus Degreaser spray it off with the hot water it's good to go so big fan of those mats but inside here I wanted to show you a few things that we've done I've done some programming stuff here on the dash which is really cool uh if you are scrolling around here and you go to your um performance section you can check it out and see your engine horsepower torque trans oil temp and engine oil temp this is uh this is really handy when you're towing you can keep an eye on your your transmission and engine oil temperatures you can look at your torque and your power settings and and see where you're running make sure you're not pushing the van too hard for me I'm always Towing so I like to watch that stuff another thing that we've done is the camera programming and the camera lifter mod on the back of the van so the camera angle is actually um tilted forward and you can see way further behind you this is also programmed to stay on at all speeds so I can access this camera view and any of these camera views at any speed so if I'm going down the freeway and I want to hit the camera button I just hit the camera button I select the view I want to see I can see if somebody's tailgating me I can see if somebody's back there uh if I'm stuck in traffic and worried about somebody coming up behind me I can just keep the camera on at any speed so very very handy there another thing that we've done on the dash here of course I don't have the van started but you can kind of pan over here Mars and take a look I don't have the van started so all the lights are on currently but if you go to the particle filter sorry if you go to the particle filter setting um here in your service menu so scroll over hit service scroll all the way down to particle filter right now it says manual regeneration not possible but we program it so that if your DPF your diesel particulate filter reaches a certain percentage and you're sitting here at idle you're not driving you're not meeting the conditions that Mercedes thinks you need to regenerate and clean that filter out so normally it's when you're camping you don't want to drive anywhere maybe you've been high idling the van for a while to charge up your batteries or something like that and your DPF is full but you you don't want to break down camp and go drive so it can regenerate you can manually regenerate so as long as that filter percentage is high enough you can sit here at idle and hit regenerate and it'll clean that DPF while you're at Camp which is super handy um or if you're just doing really slow speed driving all day long and you're never Meeting those conditions to clean the DPF this is an option that you can utilize the other programming option that I've selected to put into my van is the lane keep assist off feature I always turn the lane keep assist off here under my settings so I have it programmed to where it defaults to off so when I start the van the lane keep assist is automatically off that also in turn turns off the brake assist where if you're driving for several hours it tells you to take a break um that turns that feature off as well so I don't have to go into the the uh menu settings every time and turn the lane keep assist off it'll just stay off which is for me really convenient uh if you're somebody that likes Lan he assist great personally I think it's very intrusive and sometimes almost unsafe so I just default and turn it off which is an option that we can uh offer to you guys guys so another thing inside the cab here that you might notice is the agile off-road 12 position switch Pro holder so this is an RCR Force 12 from switch Pro off-road engineering makes this controller this controls all of the lights on the van so you can see I've got my air compressor my my lights on the front everything is programmed to this they're extremely versatile as I've mentioned we we use a ton of them but where do you put it so you know normally we'd put it down here in the middle of the console but agile's designed this Mount this is a 3D printed Mount and it goes right where your sunglasses holder would normally go so it takes the place of that we run the wires up to it through the headliner and it's a really convenient position when you're driving down the road you can just reach up here and grab it and turn your lights on or off or your air compressor and you don't have to take your eyes off the road you can kind of see it out of your peripheral it's it allows you to keep your your head up one of the problems with the mercedesbenz switches down on the dash is that yes we can put in switches here we can run lights and compressors and whatever accessories you want to wire to them we can we can wire to them but you've got to run a relay cuz they're a low voltage rated switch so you're running a relay there's extra wiring it's not as clean and then you can't see those switches when you're driving because this portion of the steering wheel almost always blocks your view of the switches so it's really unsafe when you're driving you're go oh where's my lights then you have to kind of look down and around to see where your lights are this eliminates all that it's a it's a far safer easier to use interface um that's a really cool product that just came out not that many months ago we've been installing a lot of them another thing you might notice I have a pedal box um controller here on the dash but it's not hooked up I've been using the pedal box for a long time I've been a big fan but John agile Offroad sent me a new IO pedal tuner which we're testing right now you can't see it because it is the the brain of it is plugged in and mounted up under the dash it does have a little controller Puck that you can control manually or you can set it with your phone just like some of the Bluetooth pedal controllers that are out there the coolest feature about that IO pedal so far is the high idle feature though they've had high idle capabilities with the V6 for a while where you can use your phone to the io pedal app and high idle the van for charging purposes so those are a few programming options that I've chosen to incorporate into my van there are a bunch more options out there I have them all list on the website so check them out and see if there's something that you might like uh other than that for right now the van interior is pretty much stock Storyteller stealth trim but again like I said Canyon Adventure Vans hooked it up with a ton of cool stuff stuff it's on its way I think in a couple of weeks and we're going to put it all in and I'll do a full video just showing you the coach of the van but right now it's just standard Storyteller stuff super nice but Jason has uh created some incredible products that really make the van super usable and I'm really excited to put them in um aside from that the rest of the stuff on the van that we really haven't uh you know we we pretty much covered it all we've got a few more things we're going to add we did window tin that's one thing I didn't mention when we're outside you can kind of tell it's dark in here we've got the nice thick windshield visor which I really like you don't have to flip your sun visor down all the time um there's a few other little things that we're going to do I'm going to add a carbon fiber steering wheel from Germany once we can get those in we just put one on the build that we did for rre Global we did their van for SEMA this year and they had a carbon steering wheel that is pretty much the sexiest thing that you could put on a van I think so that's going to go on once we can get our hands on one of those guys um oh we did a ram rigs beatbox stereo good grief I'm I'm forgetting a lot of stuff Ram rig hooked it up we've got a beatbox stereo system in here it's got a 10-in subwoofer a amplifier and a DSP all built in it's all into the passenger seat base new door speakers new Dash tweeters it's nday different it it's a phenomenal stereo system and we do install a lot of them here and it will absolutely transform your Driving Experience if you've been listening to the stock stereo in a sprinter I'm sorry but there is a solution and this is absolutely the way to go especially in a van where you don't really have room for a large subwoofer enclosure or a lot of options for custom um speaker locations for a sprinter it's it's really a phenomenal stereo upgrade the other things we've added to this van that I I forgot to mention when we were outside SMB filters we did a large water tank in the back back so we've got the upgraded 35g water tank in the back of the Sprinter over the I think it's 21 that comes stock with the Storyteller so way longer showers and I'm a big fan of that you know if you want to wash your hair or something while you're camping it's pretty luxurious to be able to just crank out a nice long shower and wash your hair and and take your time and not have to feel like you're taking a military shower and SMB filters we did a 45 gallon fuel tank it replaces the factory tank with the 45 gallon up it takes the place of it it's a little bit deeper and it's a little bit longer and then you nearly double your your distance to empty so a really easy simple upgrade that makes your Driving Experience again really really nice because you're not stopping every 300 miles for fuel and when you're kind of pushing the boundaries of where you want to drive and explore and getting way out there sometimes 300 mil is just not enough range to really get out to where you want to go spend the time exploring that you want to explore and then get back to a to a fuel station so a fuel tank is one of the best ways to really expand your range and the the SMB tank is is probably the most popular fuel system upgrade that we do so I think that pretty much wraps up everything that we've done to the van so far there are going to be plenty more mods I'm sure but this pretty much covers where we're at so far uh again please check out the videos in the description below or just you know check out our Channel I have used this van to show a few custom things that we can do um kind of show off some programming options the camera options things like that but you know I don't really have time in one video to cover everything in depth so I just want to give you a walk around and show you kind of where the build is at right now and we'll we'll do it again once I get all the canyon stuff in the back and really show you the whole living space and then this van is going to be on the on the road so we're going to take this on tour this year along with our big Giga wagon the 170 extended that we have and this will be at all the van shows so Adventure van Expos Overland Expos van wild of course all the meetups and stuff so come check it out if you've never seen it you want to check it out in person for sure it's uh it's pretty cool I'm a little biased of course but I think it's pretty cool and if you've never driven a van with an agile rip kit or maybe larger wheels and tires or an air Locker or whatever it may be let me know you can jump in and drive it we'll take it for a test drive uh if you want to listen to the stereo anything you want to check out put your hands on touch feel try um just let me know we'll that's what it's for so um come find us at the shows look for us at a Meetup thank you very much for watching and if you have a suggestion of something that you think I absolutely need and can't live without on this van let me know in the comments below and who knows maybe we'll throw it on and do a video about it so thank you all and we'll see you on the next [Music] one
