Acts 5:12 to 42

all right welcome back we're continuing our verse-by-verse Bible study through Acts and last time we finished up in chapter 5 and verse 11 so I'm gonna start today in verse 12 and I've got a little paragraph marker here in my Bible so this is a good place to start and verse 12 last time if you remember what we looked at do up here what I usually do the diagram and try to remind you and often do the same thing today that what we are doing is we're looking at the early church and how the early church is all about the Jew and so what we're reading in this passage and what we're studying now is Jews doing Jewish stuff and God still dealing with Jews in the hopes that they will accept him as their Messiah and a lot of them had a lot of them we saw at least 8,000 had accepted Jesus as their Messiah but the nation as a whole rejecting the religious leaders you've got to get those rulers to get on board and yet they would not so we are looking here at this and remember that the early part of this church it's all about the Jews and then as it goes on it's about Gentiles but Jews can be - save - alright so we put over here parentheses and Jews as you know as you can get safe today but this is more about the nation as a whole being dealt with this is more about not dealing with an individual so okay so this is what the Bible is telling us here so we go to Acts chapter 5 and verse 11 and it says and in great fear came upon all the church and upon as many has heard these things now what happened last time we solved there were two people and a nice and Sapphira who did not go along with the early church and what they were doing they lied to the Holy Ghost they lied to God God is the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost is God one God three persons and God kill them so there was a lot of fear going on there so in the early book of Acts there's there's still a lot of fear now later with Paul see this is all about Peter the early apostles over here we have Paul Paul tells us that we're not supposed to be afraid as Christians the fear of the Lord give me wisdom sure we should fear God when we sin but when we're saved we should have assurance of salvation and all this fear should be gone so you go to Timothy here let me see if I can find this Timothy says God not giving us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind see if I can find that verse real quick there we go 2nd Timothy 1:7 for God is not giving us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind so we today we're not supposed to have fear unless we're sending then we ought to be afraid because we reap what we sow but the early it's all about the fear of the Lord in the millennial kingdom going to be about the fear of the Lord they should be afraid of their ruler coming but Jesus today he's our loving husband what kind of relationship is is a woman living in fear with her husband are supposed to be trust and in marriage it's about trusting it's hard to trust someone that you fear so today we're under Paul's ministry we're under salvation by grace through faith we have assurance of salvation when we are saved we're sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise so remember the book of Acts is a transitional book by the time you finish this entire study hopefully you'll remember that that'll be the one thing that you remember when someone mentions the book of Acts that will come back in your head you'll say Acts is a transitional book because there's so many things changing and everything being different than it was before and so many things happening that it's hard to say that everything is the same in the book of Acts God killed a man and wife for lying that doesn't happen a day now we shouldn't lie but if we do lie today Kilis how come all these politicians are still alive in Washington DC if God is still killing people for like but yet he did that very thing there in Acts chapter 5 so there's some things taking place in the book of Acts and there's some changes taking place now verse 12 acts 5:12 says and by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people and they were all with one Accord in Solomon's porch so there was signs and there's wonders what are these these are what we call miracles these are also called the signs of the Apostles the last apostle was the Apostle Paul now even before in Jesus early ministry the disciples of Jesus which were later the Apostles they had these signs so the signs of the Apostles came all the way out to here with Paul Paul was the last apostle but after Paul we don't stop find the signs of the Apostles Paul had the ability to heal people and then at the end of his ministry and he tells us and I was at 2nd Timothy he said I left somebody sick why would he leave a guy sick if you have the ability to heal because the Bible says in 1st Corinthians 1:22 signs are for the Jews Jews have to see it to believe it so God is dealt with the Jews through signs but here we Gentiles let me put this over here a little bit more signs of the Apostle Bo now let's do it like that signs of the Apostles so what Paul says we live by faith not by sight so when God goes to dealing with the Gentiles Gentiles don't need signs and miracles and wonders to believe we're saved by faith faith cometh by hearing hearing by the Word of God Romans 10:17 so we clearly see the early book of Acts there's and I mean lots of signs and wonders and miracles but the later book of Acts in Paul's ministry those signs eventually they cease there's no more miracles being done because now the listening audience knows that God is dealing with our the Gentiles and they believe by faith not by sight so we go to verse 12 and we see in the way the hands of the Apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people so miracles taking place from the Apostles for the Jews so that the Jews might believe that Jesus was their messiah remember the difference - all about who Jesus is and what in what so most of the early book of Acts was the message of who Jesus is now when Paul's message is more on what Jesus did for us and so the message of Paul is trust in what Jesus did to be saved the early book of Acts for the Jews is trust in who the Messiah is he's the one who came to rule as the Messiah as the king is the promised Prince will he accept him and they didn't hang sector 5 verse oh and look at verse 12 again and they were with one Accord in Solomon's porch now what a Solomon's porch well it's the porch out in front of what would have been the Temple in Jerusalem there's no temple today but I told you last time that God will go back to dealing with Israel he'll go back to dealing with Jews only and they're gonna have a temple rebuilt and today it's all the rage people all over in Israel all over the world are talking about how the Jews want to rebuild their temple and they're gonna do it the only question is when well looks like they're ready and I know one thing I know I've seen videos on this every instrument is ready to go every stone is ready to go all they need is the go-ahead from the government and the land will be cleared and bube within base the Jewish temple will be built they are so ready to rebuild their temple almost 2,000 years they haven't had a blood atonement made and yet they're blind we looked at this last time here's the blood atonement it's Jesus Christ and they didn't even realize that so the tribulation is all about the Jews looking at Jesus and seeing him as their Messiah and they'll get back they'll find that they'll understand that at that time but right now as we read last time and Paul in the Romans 11 that blindness in part has happened to Israel they don't see their Messiah they don't realize that the nation as a whole has rejected their promised Messiah so versa 13 and of the rest Durst no man joined himself to them but the people magnified them Durst means dared and of the rest dared no man himself to them but the people magnified them now this is quite an interesting thing the people magnified through the Apostles so the people were looking at these apostles and they were going look at those men Wow aren't they awesome look at how they're doing this look at how they're doing that look at these healings look at these miracles you remember back in chapter 4 was it that we saw that Peter did this miracle of helping this man to stand up and walk well there was a verse and we don't have time we've looked at it before so I don't need to go back there but where they were in the temple and they stretched out his hand and he picked a man up that was lame and healed him so the people were not even magnifying God yet they're magnifying men according to verse 13 they magnified them so rather than magnifying Jesus the Messiah the Prince the promised seed they're magnifying men isn't that sad it should all be about Jesus but these Jews they're making it all about the guys who are doing the healing not about Jesus they should have said well these guys are nothing they must only have that power from God but know their thing oh these must be great men look at how good they are it's so sad to see people worshipping men or rather than worshipping God verse 14 and believers were the more added to the Lord multitudes both of men and women now we've already looked at one time there was three thousand then another time there was 5,000 that became believers how did they become believers by believing in who Jesus was they believed that Jesus was the Messiah so that made 8 thousand then they were multitude more well let's say there's just let's just guess 2,000 there about 10,000 ish that's a lot of people have you thought about how many people 10,000 people is and all those people sold everything they had and gave it to the apostles to divide among themselves why they could live together for quite a long time but something happened and they had to disperse and they had to leave and I'll get to that here in a little while so here we go let's continue here in Acts chapter 5 so men and women got saved so there's maybe about 10,000 believers in Christ about this time and this is still this is less than a year after Jesus had died and was risen and born again so this is taking place so some of the people in Israel of the nation were accept accepting Jesus as their Messiah but still the majority of Jews did not now verse 15 in so much that they brought forth the sick under the streets and laid them on beds and couches that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them now this is even a greater miracle than Jesus did when Jesus was here doing his miracles never did it say that and when his shadow passed they were healed so God's allowed Peter to do even greater miracles than he did and this is what I would call shadow healing and this does not take place today there are people out there today that claim to be healers and they say oh I'm an apostle today I don't believe their apostles today I believe those were the only apostles and they say we can do all the things that happen in the early book of Acts and you say okay let's see it resurrect somebody from the dead for me they can't do it so they claim to be apostles I don't believe there any apostles today Paul says he was born born out of due season you go to the book of Revelation the names of the 12 apostles are in the foundation of new it doesn't say the names of 5,000 apostles so I only see 12 apostles in the Bible I don't see any more after that I see Paul as the final one so these were the signs of the Apostles and those signs eventually petered out those signs eventually cease and we aren't under this time in which God is dealing with people by miracles now God can do a miracle still I believe he can but the gift that God gave to a man to do that I don't see that happening anymore men can't just go touch someone who has no eyeballs and then the guy go bloop and all of a sudden you can see perfectly it has eyeballs you know what did Jesus do Malthus is here was cut off and Jesus went bloop and the guys here was right back we don't see that kind of stuff today we just don't why because that was for the Jews the Jews seek after signs in order to believe and so God has given it to him he's given them sign after sign after he's given him something that nobody else had ever seen but all Peter had to do was walk down the street and his shadow fell on some guy that's laying in the street who's lame his whole life and he's like okay I guess so walk home and he's never walked before I mean there are miracles taking place left and right and it's incredible it's incredible and it proves who Jesus is he's God manifest in the flesh who came as the Messiah and the idea is now Jews believe it and then we saw last time in Acts chapter 7 that had they believed it then what would take place well Jesus was standing in heaven so he could have come back and set up the Millennial Kingdom then but they stoned Stephen final act of no we don't want it final act of rejection verse 16 there came also a multitude out of the cities roundabout into Jerusalem bringing sick folks and then which were vexed with unclean spirits and they were healed every one every single person that came to the early apostles was healed not one was left on him yeah I've told you before before I got saved I was a part of the Pentecostal church and they had what they called healing meetings in these Pentecostal churches and people would come forward so I've got pancreatic cancer all and they pray for him and so oh and now you're healed in there crying oh I'm healed I'm healed and they claim they were healed and I always sat there and went how do we know we can't see it nobody ever came that was missing an ear and they touched their ear and it came back nobody ever came with no arm and the pastor said oh and also the daughter grew back out they never saw anything like that it was always something you couldn't see but there were times when people would come forward to get healed and they didn't get it I remember they brought someone in a wheelchair one time and they prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed for like an hour and a half and I'm sitting there in church bored out of my skull going come on hon if this was the burly early book of Acts I would just walk by him with my shadow in the guys get up and run out come on hour and a half and the guys sitting there in the wheelchair they said well we tried it's your lack of faith you just didn't have enough faith so have a nice day and they closed the service and told the person to leave that's not the early book of Acts it says they were healed every one every single one of them was healed that's a true healing but we don't see that today so all of your so-called healers today they're all a bunch of shysters they're a bunch of Elmer Fudd Gentry so if you know what that means that was an old video they're a bunch of margos if you know what that means if you ever see it you need to see it there's an old documentary called Margo M AR G ot about a man who uh his mother made him a preacher when he was four years old he was to stand in the pulpit his four year old guy and he made a documentary about his life how he was a Pentecostal healer and he showed how it was all fake and how behind the scenes he did it all for money and he deceived people so you need to see that a lot of those so-called healings today and those healers are deceivers they don't have these same signs that they had here they healed everyone even their shadow healed people but it was Jews so that Jews might believe that Jesus was the Messiah now verse 17 and notice where they are they're all about Jerusalem so they're still the early church is still in Jerusalem still Jews for Jews verse 17 then the high priest rose up all day which were with him which is the sect of the Sadducees and were filled with indignation all right so the leaders the Jewish religious leaders I don't know if I've said this before but the Jewish leaders were the priests now why were the Jewish leaders the priests there should have been a king that was the leader of Israel but there was not one why because Rome came in and took over and said we don't want anyone as the King Jesus was the one that came and said the throne is mine I just sinned from someone that came from David this would be my throne and they killed him they crucified Jesus so there was no secular leader it was a religious leader that ran Israel and so the Jewish leaders were priests they were Sadducees and Pharisees there were two different ones Pharisees and Sadducees and the Sadducees were really sad you see I heard a really sad bunch huh but on the Pharisees and Sadducees they were the religious leaders and all of Israel looked to them as the leaders of their nation because they were supposed to know the Bible's supposed to understand the Bible's supposed to believe it but who killed Jesus Christ the religious leaders the the priests are the ones that rejected him that the Bible says that went around to the ears the people and said yell crucify him yell crucify and they did so then the high priest rose up and all they which were with him which is the sect of the Pharisees and were filled with indignation so these people were so angry so angry that they came up and wanted to fight now before I get to that let me back up real quick and let me just give you this real fast one more time in verse 17 they were in Jerusalem in Jerusalem so let's go back I hate skipping over things but I skipped over this they're all in Jerusalem right now what was that Jesus told them as his disciples to do in Matthew chapter 28 verse 19 and 20 here's what Jesus said Matthew 28:19 and 20 this goes back real quickly to what I wanted to say about these signs of the Apostles these miracles Matthew 28:19 20 says go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son of the Holy Ghost teaching them to observe whatsoever things I command you a low end with you always even into any of the world so this is the command of Jesus to his disciples go baptize all these people tell them to do what I tell you to do now this is what some people call the Great Commission that term is not in the Bible that was made up in the 1500s by some person and there's no such thing as a Great Commission in the Bible we're supposed to preach the gospel of Paul that if there is a Great Commission that's the commission that God commissioned Paul to do is to bridge verse script these 15 1 to 4 where as first great view 15 1 through 4 in Matthew 28 I didn't see it did you see it all it says go baptize people in water and tell them to do what Jesus said where is trust the blood atonement of Christ it's not there so you go over here to mark chapter 16 and verse 16 to 18 here's what he says he didn't believe it in his baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned and these signs shall follow them that believe in my name shall they cast out devils shall they speak with new tongues shall they take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover so we are seeing these things taking place in the early book of Acts Jews to juice and we're seeing the water baptism to take place but as I showed you before what did he say he in the beginning in Acts chapter 1 verse 5 jesus said John indeed baptized with water she should be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence so even the water baptism thing is phased out if you will you have Holy Ghost baptism being the most important not water and as you continue in the book of Acts and you continue Steve Paul you see it's not about water baptism that saves water baptism is not salvation what is salvation faith in the blood atonement of Christ I still get emails from people that say I have 238 is the gospel if you don't believe that you can and I look at those people I say don't you read a Bible Paul tells us 1st Corinthians 15 1 through 4 that's a good place to put the gospel 1st Corinthians 15 1 through 4 and he says you're saved by this so you've got to rightly divide I don't wanna go into that in the more detail other than to say as we're reading Acts chapter 5 there in Jerusalem still Matthew chapter 28 Jesus said go to Jerusalem then Judea then Samaria than the other most parts of the world well we see Paul Peter in Jerusalem we see them slowly getting into Samaria then we see a guy named Philip that goes into the other then into Philip let me put Stephen here - because he's a central figure but then we see them going into Samaria oh we see Philip going into Samaria as a matter of fact as we get later on in the book of Acts we'll find this guy named Philip that actually went to Samaria and then to the uttermost parts of the world well that's what Paul did Paul was the one that went to the uttermost parts of the world so you can't leave out Paul alright so now go back to Acts chapter 5 and now go to verse 17 back to these religious leaders the religious leaders of the day or the priests they would be the politicians if you will of the day all the people look to them because they were the ones that said hey your soul depends on what we tell you to do so you do what we say there's no king so you have to follow us so if you want to go to Abraham's bosom when you die rather than heaven will you do what we say and so the people follow them because they thought that they were right but they were self-righteous religious hypocrites and Liars why didn't God kill them for life they're the ones that killed Jesus Christ and so what is going on here in Acts chapter 5 and 6 is God is using these early apostles to try to convince these people to accept him as their Messiah of Messiah and they would not they would have nothing to do with Jesus and it says here they were filled with indignation so now we're seeing the opposition we're starting to see when the persecution comes against these early believers in Christ the Apostles and these close to ten thousand people that had believed that Jesus was the Messiah these were the politicians now what were the disciples doing what were the these people doing they were helping people Healing people restoring their sight the lame making them walk helping the Deaf to hear they were actually helping people that's not bad it's a good thing to help people but who was the one that rose their ugly head and were filled with indignation and angry and then put them in prison verse 18 and then beat them there in verse verse forty who were the ones that were against these early disciples and they're helping people the politicians man I'll tell you what the Bible just made it lays it all out exactly the way things are today today we see that the people that don't help people and don't care about people at all are the politicians politicians go around saying elect me I care about you and I'll help you elect me elect me I care about you and people go what all right I'll believe him and they elect somebody and the people they elect do not care about them they pass legislation that hurts them we give you an example one of the worst pieces of garbage loves legislation that the world has ever seen is this thing called Obamacare now I sit back and I watch this thing called Obamacare the worst piece of legislation or garbage that ever passed in the Congress you know this guy named McCain just died the whole world is praising McCain said what a great man John McCain John McCain was the deciding vote for Obamacare the absolute worst bill that was ever passed in the entire history of the entire world Obamacare was a farce Obamacare was a lie from the get-go it was a piece of communist crap and it was wrong when Obamacare came out they couldn't even get the website to work Obamacare came out and said the United States government mandates everyone in all of America has to spend money and buy health insurance nobody wanted to do that and they said and if you can't you don't have enough money that everybody else has to pay for your health insurance now what is that that's communism that's taking money from others to help other people when that bill came out there's 350 million people in America within the first couple of months only 3.5 million people signed up for Obamacare that is 1% of the entire nation in less than a year there were 7 million people enrolled in Obamacare that would be 2 percent of the nation that means 98 percent of the night of the American people said to Obamacare and to the government and said we will not obey this law this is garbage and that law said you have to buy health care whether you want it or not what was that that was the government saying we want to help you oh how does it help me to have to spend money I don't have on things that I don't want how how does that help me you're robbing from me and they said well you know you don't have to get health care if you don't why do you just pay the fine oh so there's a fine for not what a horrible law did oh how Obamacare helped anyone know Obamacare went bankrupt it didn't even work the numbers didn't work it was impossible for this thing to work and yet they passed this communistic socialistic garbage and 98 percent of America said no we don't want that my wife and I we said forget it we're not gonna do this we're not going to comply we believe this is wrong and so we did it and thank God there was a man that came in named Trump and he signed a bill that said you know I waive the fee so you don't have to pay a fee for not getting Obamacare so we didn't we didn't have to but then the next year they they got rid of Obamacare but then the next year they didn't get rid of the fee and my wife and I we had to pay several thousand dollars because we would not comply with a law that the government could not even fund they could not even figure out how to get their website to work and 98 percent of American people said we don't want that so you talk about crazy you know the politicians they raise their ugly heads we're here to help you we're here that didn't help me you stole money from me you didn't help me you did not help me at all and I look at the politicians and they don't help people they mess things up years ago I remember the story of reading how there was a congressional cafeteria and in Washington DC there was a cafeteria that was run in Washington that was supposed to be there so that all the Senators and and Representatives could come to that cafeteria and eat you know what happened to that cafeteria it went bankrupt they can't even run a cafeteria how are they supposed to run the country yet people put their faith in politicians now there are politicians there always will be but our faith is not supposed to be in them people say are you anti-government Robert Baker I am NOT but I'll tell you what I am against corruption I'm anti corruption and there's so much corruption in government that's what we're gonna see here as we continue reading in Chapter five these people these Jewish religious leaders the priests the politicians they were corrupt and they were so corrupt that's why they killed Jesus they would not even bow down to God himself they wanted the power they wanted the corruption we're gonna see just how corrupt they were the old saying is power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely so you have to be careful of these people I do not put my faith in me we have a president now that's doing a lot of good but I'm not trusting in him I'm trusting in God so I never put my faith in my trust in man so let's continue here and let's look at just how corrupt these religious leaders were because we're going to find in this passage that there is a time that if governor becomes so corrupt that they outlaw your religion that's when you say no no I have to follow my religion I have to follow the Bible if you pass a law against my religion against what the scriptures say that's what I have to say no otherwise I have to go along with what they tell me to do as long as it's not unscriptural but when they cross that line from secular to religious and they try to make me sin against my conscience and against my god that's a line I can't cross so I'm going to show you that from here I want you to see that let's go here to Acts chapter five and we're here in verse 17 says they were filled with indignation verse 18 they laid her hands on the Apostles and put them in the common prison now so first of all they kidnapped them alright because of their corruption because they were so corrupt they kidnapped the early apostles they kidnapped them they put them in jail illegally without a warrant without anything they put them in prison kidnapping that's supposed to be the leaders and they weren't even righteous themselves what did it do I love how the Bible says this they laid their hands on the Apostles we just read where the Apostles are going around laying their hands on people and healing them and God is using that laying on of hands to heal people what do these corrupt people do they come and lay hands on them I just think that's so funny you got laying on the hands for good laying on of hands for evil they kidnap the early apostles put them in a common prison now what did God do verse nineteen but the age of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life now I don't know what that means the words of this life the words of how you're living is an apostle of what wonder why doesn't say the words of eternal life I find that very strange why he said just the words of this life but he did so tell him these words of this life verse 21 and when they heard that they entered into the temple early the morning and taught but the high priest came and they that were with him and called the council together and all the Senate of the children of Israel and sent to the prison to have them bribed okay so what do they do God let them out of the jail and said now go back into the temple and continue printing and they did they went right back into the very temple that these people were supposed to be the head of and they started telling people hey now these guys are corrupted when what you're talking about they put us in jail but God lasalle know what we were saying is Jesus Christ is God he's the Messiah those guys are a bunch of heretics hypocrites liars they're gonna put you in hell with their false doctrine come to Jesus and so they they did not let it faze them that they were kidnapped and put in jail they continued doing what they were doing and so these people they thought they would ha ha we locked them up they're not a threat anymore let's meet together and so the Pharisees and Sadducees come together and then someone brought and then they said now let's go get those guys out of prison and let's see what we'll do to them well verse 22 but when the officers came they found them not in the prison and returned and told verse 23 saying the prison truly found be shut with all safety and the keeper standing without before the doors but when we had opened we found no man within they're like scratch my head girl I don't know we put them in there we slam the doors no one ever came in or out we open it up and they weren't there what could that be God you know they wouldn't believe that God was behind these men by the miracles but their heart was hardened they couldn't believe God miraculously sets them free and they still don't believe well someone's heart is hardened it's hard for them to believe and corruption hardens your heart to truth well they said they found no land within verse 24 now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things they doubted of them where - this would grow so they doubted and they said well that's that can't be true if somebody lying here something going on what's going on here how's this taking place what what's going on now look at the next verse verse 25 then came one and told them saying behold them in whom you put in prison our standing in the temple and teaching the people uh-oh we locked in love so they couldn't do that and then they're doing the very thing that we tried to keep them from doing what is it ever going to dawn on them that what they're doing is against God and the Bible in Washington DC in the United States of America we have a government that is / is called progressive they have an agenda which they're going against God in the Bible have you ever thought about that the United States government everything that they're doing now is going against God and the Bible they want women to have special rights no well we all have the same rights but they want them to have special rights when the Bible says a woman supposed to obey her husband so they're going against God in the Bible in that about what does it say about homosexuals what says God says now you shouldn't do that you should be one man one wife marriage they said now let's give gay marriage - to the right - buried in it that's going against God in the Bible all these things that the government's doing it's almost like they're going what does the Bible say now how can we go the exact opposite way I don't have a problem with a government secular government passing laws but why do they have to pass laws they go against God in the Bible you go against God God's gonna go against you that's all I have to say about that so let's continue reading here and see what happened it's just sad to see our country going downhill because they're going against God in the Bible so they they found them standing in the temple and teaching the people now verse 26 then went the captain with the officers and brought them without violence for they feared the people lest they should be have been stoned see the first time they kidnapped them and put them in jail against their will this time they said would you guys please come with us and I'm sure Peter goes I'll go with you buddy as long as you don't get any chains out yeah I don't have to but I guess I'll go with you and it says they feared the people that's what these people should be afraid of the people the United States of America is one of the greatest countries that's ever been founded in the history of the world founded with these words we the people you see our founding fathers realize the people are the ones that should be in charge when you get people in charge that are corrupt you have corruption but if you have a moral Society the people the majority the morals should keep that minority in check you see it's always a small group at the top that rules over the lots of people at the bottom if all the people down at the bottom or morale they're gonna keep the ones at the top morale and so really seeing that now I read a couple years ago that the approval rating of Congress is like 10 percent that means 90 percent of the people in America say we are not on board with what you're doing Congress you are against our will you are giving us what we don't want like Obamacare we want to be left alone we want freedom we want small government we don't want you with your boot on our neck all the time leave us home and that's why we have a man in office named Trump Donald Trump was elected on this wave of the people wanting somebody that will give us less government that will give us less taxes that will leave us alone and to this day many people just can't understand how cubicle Trump got elected it's because the people are sick and tired of the corruption that they're seeing all throughout the government but that's a different topic but I say that because it ties in with what we're reading here history repeats itself the only thing that people never learned from history is that people never learned from history so for the fear of the people lest they should be stoned so they were afraid and we're in that cycle today where our government fears its people now verse 27 and when they had brought them because our governments corrupt and when they brought them they set them before the council in the high priest ask them say verse 28 it says do we not straightly command you that you should not teach in this name and behold you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man's blood upon us now here the priests are trying to exercise authority now where were they when Jesus was in his earthly ministry how come these Pharisees didn't go to Jesus and said Jesus would you come before our Council and let us talk to you they didn't know Jesus was out healing people and preaching and they would come and they would listen and then they'd say well you have a what about this and they try to catch him in his words and they just wanted him dead they weren't interested in what he had to say so here Jesus disciples are doing greater miracles than Jesus and they say well let's try a different approach let's invite them in and ask them so what are you doing and then they're trying to exercise their authority what authority do they have here they're trying to say look we're the ones in charge you answer to us how come they didn't say that with Jesus what they did is they ran over to Rome and they said Rome would you kill this guy for us you see the person in charge was rolled Rome had come in and taken over Israel there was no king in Israel Rome was in charge so these snakes these devils these reprobate corrupt demon politician priests snakes hypocrites Jesus called him go over to Rome and say well we don't like this guy Jesus would you do us a favor and kill him cuz you're our authority and we we follow you and they had Jesus killed now Jesus's disciples are getting more con converts than Jesus so they go well let's forget Rome and let's take care of this ourselves kidnapped the guy now let's call it before him to say huh why aren't you not following us why we commanded you that you shouldn't do this while we're in charge while we're the authority why are you out there preaching against our Commandments because we're the authority no you weren't Rome's in charge see how they're conveniently leaving out Rome that's what these snake politicians do they'll use rules or laws or anyone they can against you and if that doesn't work then they'll come over here and they'll go well let's conspire against it and it's just it's just pure evil it's just pure evil now notice of what it says did we not straightly command you that you should not teach in his name in this name they do not even like the name of Jesus why because the name of Jesus condemns them the name Jesus is je sous je is short for Jehovah and sous Greek for saves so Jehovah is the God of the Old Testament even the name of Jesus points to their God saving them but they will not take their own God that came to save his very name condemns them they didn't even want to hear his name because they didn't like it and they said and you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine if that confession is true then the early apostles filled Jerusalem they preached to every single person in Jerusalem the doctrine of Christ that he was in the site and look what he says in intend to bring this man's blood upon us I love that that's a fort was what you'd call a foreshadowing it's all about the blood today it's all about salvation by the blood atonement of Christ today they didn't even know what they're saying they say you're trying to bring this man's blood upon us now what were they saying well they were saying you're trying to insinuate trust the blood then you're washed in the blood of Jesus Christ the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin you want the blood on you to be saved about here why I hadn't brought up the salvation through the blood yet what Jesus did was still about who he was but what a foreshadowing intending to bring the blood upon us now verse 29 then Peter and the other apostles answered and said we ought to obey God rather than men you claim to be our ruler your kidnappers murderers let me just go ahead and write up here liars why should we follow immoral corrupt evil people when we have God that tells us don't kidnap don't murder don't lie you see this is the Old Testament law all throughout the law don't kidnap someone don't murder someone don't tell a lie these religious leaders these politicians are going against the very law that they're supposed to uphold they are no longer what they're supposed to be when you see that happen in any government any secular government and the secular government no longer follow the laws and they become so corrupted that they're outlaws then what does that mean you can't fall into sin you have to stand against corruption so he says we have to obey God rather than me now many people today say well to talk like that is anti-government let's go to what Paul says okay let's go to what Paul says Romans chapter 13 Paul tells us that we follow the government and follow the rules but we only follow the rules until they are so corrupt if they make us as Christians do something that's not Christian that's when we draw the line life says I can't obey you I have to obey God as long as the rules you make aren't against God in the Bible I'll go along with you but when you try to tell me I can no longer serve my God then I can't go along I'd say I am a conscientious objector I cannot comply with your unrighteous law it goes against my conscience and against my religion and against my Bible now thank God in America we haven't seen that we've gotten close there was a thing out in a California where they tried to outlaw the Bible completely they wanted to outright out outlaw a ban the Bible to where no one was allowed to have a Bible thank God it didn't pass but what are they doing the corrupt people within the government are wanting to attack God in the Bible that's what corrupt is this corruption is and that's what they are now let's go to Romans 13 verses 1 let every soul be subject to the higher powers for there is no power but of God the powers that are ordained that be are ordained of God whosoever therefore resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation for rulers are not a terror to good works but to evil wilt thou then not be afraid of the power do that which is good and thou shalt have praise of the same okay verse 4 for he is the minister of God to thee for good but if thou do that which is evil be afraid for he beareth not the sword in vain for he is the minister of God or a revenger to execute wrath upon all them that doeth evil so the Apostle Paul tells us here look God sets up governments and they are supposed to be just and they are supposed to be a terror to evil so if someone is evil and this obeys the law they should feel scared because the government's going to go execute righteousness on them and that's what it is that God Institute's is righteousness but what when what happens when a government becomes corrupt and they are unrighteous they have forfeited what God set them up to be they are no longer rulers they have forfeited that's why I'm Benjamin Franklin said disobedience to tyranny his obedience to God because the Bible tells us to do good if they pass a law that says to do wrong we must disobey and say no I can serve God only I cannot serve man just like Paul just like Peter said I'd rather obey God than man look at verse 6 for for this cause pay you tripping also for they are God's ministers attending continually upon this very thing verse 7 Ruth render therefore to all their dues tribute to whom tribute is due custom to whom custom fear to whom fear honor to whom honor verse 9 for this thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself Paul says is now this is the law of the Bible what do you do when these things aren't logged by secular government years ago in Scotland I believe it was the English came but if they pass a law tomorrow that says you cannot preach the gospel and you cannot have a Bible or read it then you say and you say exactly what Peter says we ought to obey God rather than man now it's really sad to me to see that in America they love to say separation of church and state separation of church and state separation of church and state and that's good but whenever you're a Christian and you say yeah but my Bible says the sage says shut up you do what we say but if you're a Muslim and you say yeah but my religion says they said oh I'm sorry I don't wanna go I don't want to bother your religion oh okay you go do whatever you want to take that Sharia law okay whatever you say and they cower down to the Muslims and let them do whatever their religion says which by the way is mutilate girls they cut off parts of girls bodies and they mutilate them what they call female circumcision the men have a right to chop the heads off of their daughter anytime they want they have a right to kill people rape women do all that's okay the government says because that's your religion but I'm a Christian and I say but I believe I have a right to preach the gospel how dare you go to jail do you see that that's not right to give one religion preference over another what's good for the goose is good for the gander if there is separation of church and state then I get the right to follow the Bible as I've been doing and my forefathers that were Christians before me for thousands of years all right Christianity predates Muslims Islam okay I don't know if you knew that so if there really is separation of church and state then the secular government has no right to pass laws against Christianity yet California tried to pass a law to outlaw the Bible that's a shame that's not right so where do we draw the line Hebrews chapter 13 verse 17 I don't want to go there I'm hoping that until the day I die or the Lord comes back that we never have to deal with a federal government that's so far out of control that they attack Christianity but I'd be very naive to say that I can't see that coming because I already see many within government are Satanists they are Luciferians they are people that hate Christianity and they're doing their best to fight against Christians so one day when there just might be a kind of day when we have to just say look put me in jail because I will not comply with your law I hope that never happens but that's what happened to Paul Paul went out preaching Christianity and what happened Nero said shut up he goes do whatever you want with me I'm just gonna do what God says and they put him in jail Paul was in jail a lot of his ministry and he was not a criminal it was the corrupt people that put him in jail just like the corrupt religious leaders put the early apostles in jail so just because someone's in jail doesn't mean they're guilty of something it could be the corrupt people put him in jail because he's doing right and he won't do evil like they want him to do just something to think about okay Hebrews 13:17 obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves why for they watch for your souls that they may give account and they may do it with joy and not with grief for this is unprofitable to you God says that the reason there's a government is those they help you to do right and they're supposed to watch out for your soul and do what's best for you so you don't die and go to hell so you have a happy life so that you're protected from bad people that want to do evil to you and it should be all about righteousness if they ever tell you to do something that jeopardizes your soul or your relationship with Jesus Christ that's when you say I cannot comply first Corinthians 5:11 here's something I don't know if I should go here I don't know I was debating on whether or not I should talk about this first Corinthians 5:11 Paul says that were to separate from certain people first great things 511 through 13 but now I've written unto you to not keep company if any maybe that is called a brother be a fornicator or covetous or an adulterer or or a drunkard or an extortioner with such a one not to eat for what have I to do to judge them also that are without do not you judge them that are within but then that are without God judgeth therefore put away from you among yourselves that wicked person because of Paul tells us that when we're saved we're supposed to be holy holy means separate and set apart so when we become Christians we're supposed to depart or separate ourselves from the sinful world in order to live our lives in humility love holiness joy happiness so we're supposed to be a separate set of bar people the problem is we live in a wicked world and what the world wants is the world wants everyone to be under their thumb under the corrupt rulers and they want to force on everybody something to do the Bible tells us that the whole plan of Satan is to bring in a new world order and when Satan brings in his globalized New World Order he's going to tell everybody take the mark of the beast now we are promised in the Bible that we're going to get out at the rapture so we don't have to take that but we're already seeing how the devil is trying to get the entire world to worship Him in the high entire world to come under his government when this happens you won't have free will you have to do everything that they say and in the Tribulation Period everyone is going to worship Satan that's what the Bible says in the book of Revelation so what we're seeing is we're seeing the governments of the world uniting with one goal to make everyone a slave to the New World Order and then they're gonna pass laws against God in the Bible and say you do what we say where does that leave a Christian the entire world is working to get rid of God in the Bible and make no place left for good decent God loving god-fearing people and that's a shame but we're seeing that today and I don't have time to get into that but look at verse 30 Acts chapter 5 we've gotten so far how far we gone verse 29 says we ought to obey God rather than a man verse 30 the god of Our Fathers raised up Jesus from you slew and hanged on a tree him if God exalted with his right hand to be a prince and a saviour for to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins so the desire of Jesus Christ was to forgive all of Israel through his blood atonement and habit as a nation accepted that they would have been forgiven but they would not accept it alright whom he slew he's saying they are the murderers they are the killers no we've gone a little long here so I'm gonna have to figure this out or live today well I gotta finish I gotta go ahead and finish this so this might be a little went long one today so let's finish look what he said it says Jesus came to give repentance to Israel well you go to mark 1 4 and Luke 3 3 John the Baptist showed up doing a baptism of repentance for Israel different time acts 2:38 Peter says repent be baptized every one of you for the mission of sins baptism of repentance but in Acts chapter 1 in verse 5 jesus says you indeed baptize with water but I shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost one day a month many days hands so you're seeing this this repentance thing going from the water baptism for repentance to trusting in the blood atonement for forgiveness of sins forgiveness no longer is through water baptism but through the blood of Christ so acts 2:38 is no longer for us today acts 19 14 Paul talks about you know John with the baptism of repentance so we're seeing a change we're seeing it's out about the water anymore so I throw that out there just to say that there's a lot of people today that still send me emails saying Robert breaker acts 2:38 next 2:38 you're saved by water baptism and I look at that no no no it's Jesus dying on the cross was for the repentance and forgiveness of sins so when you trust in Jesus Christ that's when your sins are forgiven it was all for Israel and they chose to reject it so guy give it to Paul and said now Paul go take it to the Gentiles and we looked at that last time now verse 31 jesus is to be the Prince and the Saviour but he's really a king according to revelation 19:16 he's the king of kings and Lord of lords when he comes back at Armageddon so from a prince to a king our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ verse 32 and we are his witnesses of these things and so is also the Holy Ghost whom God have given to them that obey Him here is the receiving of the Holy Ghost it's based upon those that obey Him how do you obey Him well wrote Romans chapter 10 says through faith in the gospel but these people got the Holy Ghost so these people here in the early book of Acts they they received the Holy Spirit but Paul tells us that today we don't receive the Holy Spirit the same way they did a lot of them receive it here in acts 2:38 by water baptism but that's not how we get it today what does Ephesians 1:13 say whom you believe that how you receive the Holy Spirit of God after you trust in the gospel so it's all about the gospel and believing the gospel of Paul today that's how we get the Holy Spirit now verse 33 when they heard that they were cut to the heart and took counsel to slay him all right back to their old habits they murdered Jesus now they want to murder these guys rather than fess up to their sin of killing Jesus Christ now verse 34 all the way down to verse o 40 or so is a man named Gamaliel and this is gamellia speaking so I'll just go ahead and read this we're almost done we went a little long today but I got to finish this up then stood there up one in the council a Pharisee named Gamaliel a doctor of the law had a reputation among all the people and commanded to put the Apostles forth a space now this Gamaliel is mentioned by paul in acts 22 3 paul says in acts 22 three that he studied under Gamaliel so this is the teacher of Paul Paul's teacher Gamaliel sounds like at that day that he was the head lawyer of the nation of Israel so imagine having the Attorney General stand up and say here's what I say we need to do knowing that they had kidnapped had murdered and are lying he said put them outside and let's talk so this guy you may leave now if Gamaliel is there it makes me wonder if paul was there it's possible in Acts chapter 7 and verse 58 when Stephen is stoned we're told that when these Pharisees kill Stephen that they put down at the feet of Saul whose name is also Paul they're close so Paul was there when they stoned Stephen in Acts chapter 7 so was Paul there in Acts chapter 5 listening to all this it's possible Bible doesn't say but it's possible here's his teacher Gamaliel so he says put them forth on this place here so let the Apostles go outside and let me tell you Israel what we should do and he said unto them ye men of Israel take heed to yourselves what you intend to do is touching these men for before these days rose up thief you did Theotis boasting himself to be somebody to whom a number of men about four hundred joined themselves who was slain and all as many as obey him were scattered and brought to nought okay this was another man that rose up in history he's given the history of this man he got four hundred people to find him and then he died out well how many people are following the Apostles all about ten thousand after this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing and drew away much people after him he also perished in all even as many as obeyed him were dispersed and I was saying to you refrain from these men and let them alone for this counsel or this work be of men it will come to naught so he says if what they believe is true then good if not if it's a lie like we don't think it's true that it will come to naught so ten thousand people will just give up one day there's a lot more people following Jesus than these guys but if it be of God you cannot overthrow it let's happily you be found even to fight against God almost sounds like there was a scene of doubt in this mind of Gamaliel he was like now if this is of God then just let be almost like he was thinking because he very might well could be so he's starting to believe possibly I don't know but he says you can't fight against God and to him they agreed and when they had called the Apostles and beaten them they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus and let them go what did they do they went ahead and tortured the disciples they beat them this is what you call brother and thugs this is what you call brother in the Mafia these are the good-for-nothing devils that claim to be those people in charge that are not in favor of following law they kidnap people they murder people they lie and then they torture and beat people up bunch of thugs were what those Pharisees were and they claimed to be those that God called to tell people what the law said and they didn't even follow the law themselves and you know what Jesus called them hypocrites and that's what they are so the early apostles were kidnapped their founder Jesus was murdered these guys lied about them and then tortured him now what did the early apostles do when they got out of jail did they say now let's go find some bombs and blow them up like the IRA because we've got the fight against the evil corrupt the government's and we need to take up ours no they didn't they said whatever these people mean nothing God is everything what do they do verse 41 and then departed from the presence of the council rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name and they leave the temple in every house they cease not to teach and preach Jesus Christ the very thing that they were told not to do verse 40 not speak in the name of Jesus they wasn't did it they disobeyed the religious leaders they disobeyed the politicians and said we ought to obey God rather than they did not say now let's go get our guns and shoot them they said our battle is spiritual we're not going to go fight physically we have a spiritual battle it's about the gospel and seeing Souls safe and that's what I want to do I'm not interested in a physical battle and taking up arms I hope to god it never comes to that there was a civil war in America before I hope to god there's not again a lot of Christians died in that Civil War but they said we're gonna go and we're gonna preach the gospel and I love what pulse of Peter says he said they were rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for the name of Jesus that reminds me of first Peter 4:13 and then I'll quit Peter tells us in first Peter 4:13 I think he was thinking about this very moment when he wrote these words first Peter 4:13 but rejoice in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings that when his glory shall be revealed you may be glad also with exceeding joy if he be reproached for the name of Christ that's what happened to him he was kidnapped and tortured for it if you be reproached for the name of Christ happier ye for the Spirit of God the glory and of God rests upon you on their part he is evil spoken of but on your part he is glorified verse 15 let none of you suffer as a murderer or as a thief or as an evildoer or as a video busybody in other men's manners don't be a corrupt politician be a true Christian verse 15 but let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or as an evil doers of anybody in other men's matters verse 16 yet if any man suffer as a Christian let him not be ashamed but let him glorify God on this behalf brother and that was Acts chapter 5 boy I had to go a little bit long there but I did the best I could I hope that's a blessing to you a lot more I could go into I didn't even get to put up here that they were a thief Jesus talked about these evil Pharisees and how they used to steal from old ladies and things like that so they were corrupt folks there will always be corrupt politicians in the world but don't worry about serving Jesus is more important and getting
