hello everyone and welcome to the new video on creating skins for for cars in a set of Corsa competition uh usually normally you use uh software like Photoshop or to create those stem those skins for the cars but thanks be a little bit tricky especially when you have to align things across different panels then it can get a little bit fiddly with using a plane photo editing software like Photoshop or and that's when blender steps in because it offers you to draw directly on the 3D model of the car that you want to create the skin for and this is the purpose of today's video where we will take a look at how what you need to do in order to be able to start a girl creating skins using blender and yeah first thing that we need is of course blender itself which we have an instance of it open right here when you run it for the first time you are greeted with a this exact window and let's just go ahead and start let's select everything and hit delete to remove everything next thing that you are going to need are the 3D models link that is in the description of the video for all the cars in a set of Corsa competency on it everything is in there every car that you want to create the skin for even the newest cars and the 1.9 release of a set of Corsa competition download that zip zip file extract it somewhere on your hard drive and run blender so then when you have all of these files you want to go into file import and go down to wavefront obj Legacy here you will navigate to wherever you you saved those templates as you can see all of them are in here and thank you very much for the all for for the person who extracted those fortunately I don't know who it was so I cannot cannot give credit but anyway we will be doing a scan for the new Porsche so the 992 version select the 3D Dot obj file and click import obj this Imports and you can see in the top uh top right in the collection you have a new object in here but you cannot see anything because uh usually the blender viewport is zoomed in very much and the object is quite large so just use your mouse scroll two to zoom out a little bit so that you can see the whole the whole object the whole car now the first thing that I like to do is just right click anywhere on the car and actually first click left click on the car then right click on the car and select shade smooth so it gives you a little bit of a smoother surface now a couple of things about blender you can use the top right thingy here to position the camera around you can click it drag it around and it will rotate the car or just use the middle Mouse button click the middle Mouse button hold it down and you can also rotate the car as uh as you want as much as you want and as we already said before with scroll you can scroll in and out or if you hold shift and middle Mouse button actually that's shift and middle Mouse button is moving your viewport around control and middle Mouse button and moving mouse up or down has a finer control of Zoom now that's quickly on uh controlling the viewport in in blender next we won't prepare this uh template for uh for our drawing I guess for that we want to go into texture paint and you will see the car turns purple pink Violet whatever first what we need to do is create textures for our skin so click on the plus here select base color give it a name just base with is 4096. height as well 4096. color that depends on what you want if you're going to use some in-game color I would advise you select this color here uh like if if you will have the base paint in in the game pink for example if it is pink or red or blue or whatever I usually go for a very bright color here even if I will paint everything over it why I go bright color is because the bright color just shines through what you've already drawn on the car uh let's say okay and create another base color texture here and this time we'll call it decals on the color you want to set the alpha to zero and don't worry if everything disappears we will get everything back shortly and we want another base color and you guessed it it's uh it's sponsors again you want the alpha you can either click in it to set the value or just use your click in it and drag to set the value but you you need the zero zero value on it okay so now we have three textures now what we want uh over here uh is if you go to the bottom right here you can see my mouse pointer has changed a little bit when it changes just click on it and drag it up and in in the uh in this weird icon you want to go to which one was it again um Shader editor yes it is Shader editor now let's make this a little bit bigger we don't need that viewport yet because we need to get these things here in order click away to deselect everything then select one thing and drag it out a little bit we want to remove this color here oh they're behind there somewhere is our decals there we go so we have all of those now we have to connect all of these and assign the mixture of it uh to to the model so you want to go here on ADD and ins in search type in mix and select the mix object place it anywhere you want and from the drop down select color now right click on it and duplicate it because we are going to need two of them uh let's make these all a little bit more spacious and how you want to connect them from base from the base texture Green in my case you want to connect it to the a input on the first mixture and from the decals again color you want to connect it to B and at the same time you want the Alpha from the cows connected to the factor here now the second mixture let me just just move those things a little bit out of the way so it's a little bit more clear what we're doing from the first mix where we have the base and the decals connected in you want to connect the result into a and from sponsors you want to connect color to B and Alpha of sponsors to factor now from the second mix you want to drag out the result onto base color of the object and there we go things are connected now you can reduce the size of this and here you can already see the wireframe that you are possibly already used to from making skins or from in in Photoshop or but here we still see nothing for us to see anything you want to go up here and select this viewport shading and there you go the whole model is finally here and with this we can actually start already drawing on the model as you can see as soon as I draw something anywhere this appears on uh on the wireframe here immediately and since we have selected sponsors we are now drawing on sponsors so first let's go and just undo the things that we just drawn and select decals uh one thing to mention you want possibly symmetrical uh skins you want to collect select X here this means that anything you draw on the left side or the right side will be will be also on the other side so if I just drag a white line here can already see that the same white line is also present on on the other other end let's go and uh undo that as well another thing to note is the fall off here you basically configure the edge of of your paintbrush see as you see it's the The Edge is now no longer so gentle maybe this one is the most apparent if you take this one here then you have no uh no blur on the edges but it's just a sharp sharp edge on on there uh it depends on what you want to do you can of course pick different things there as uh as you are as you're drawing okay uh colors on the right hand here just click on it and you can then select any color that you want for your paintbrush and we're going to I don't choose some let's choose some sensible color I don't know yellow for example and just make some round circles around the lights Ariel that looks awesome doesn't it there's also some color now in the background uh I mean in the on the inside of uh of the lights but uh we're not really concerned about this but but should you for example let's say you want to make this area around here I don't know let's pick another color let's pick blue I like blue some blue uh let's say you want to color this but you don't want to color the fins on the inside here so if you just color over them you see that everything becomes blue but let's say you don't want to do that right so you hit Tab and you get this weird mesh mesh kind of thing which where everything is orange orange means it's selected and you can just click anywhere outside of the car and it will deselect everything you can also see that the wireframe is no longer highlighted on the left here so uh this means there's nothing selected now we can push tab again and oh that's not right um I forgot sorry you have to select paint mask as well now we cannot draw on anything because nothing is selected and yeah we still want to make this area blue for example so what you want is hover over the area that you want to select the panel if you want to select and hit l see already what's being selected we're also going to select this and the door now if we just start coloring remember we have the X for symmetry selected but if you now just start coloring the other side is not colored because it is not selected so we will control Z first to remove the the blue the blue coloring on on the right side of the car and select the panels on both sides now if if I color this area blue you can already see on the other end that it's being colored in as blue as well or just color something something like this for example this looks great doesn't it and you can see you have the same the same coloring on on this side as well and maybe I'm making a bad example because I'm not actually showcasing now the transitions in in panels uh so let's say we also want to paint something bluish over over the roof so we have everything connected here now so let's say we want something like this something like a design like this we could do this in or in uh and uh what's it called Photoshop but uh you do need to play around with uh getting everything aligned and so on and while in blender you can just draw over the panels as you want you know no need to align things it's much easier in this way yeah this is uh how to color basic things onto onto your car and next thing that we will look at is not just free draw but how to actually put a picture or whatever over over your car for that we want to go here and texture properties and create a new brush and we will open an image I don't know um I have some let's say a set of course a competency on it logo let's say we want this this on on our car uh what I like to do here is go into mapping and set a clip so it appears only once and then we go into the active tool and Below onto texture and no not texture mask I'm sorry stroke sorry it's stroke here and stroke method it's also not it oh this isn't oh mapping I'm really sorry not stroke mapping in mapping you want to select stencil and you already see the stencil below down here when I hover the mouse over the viewport but it's a little bit skewed uh you want to hit reset transform an image aspect and now the stencil is in the original image image size image aspect image so it's the correct proportions and everything to move the stencil you just right click with your Mouse anywhere and you can drag it around however you see fit and now what we what we want to do first go to color and select a completely white color and as you can see now we have this stencil over the car you can just draw over it just drag over and there you go we have successfully put a full image over over our car of course it's uh yeah sections of missing because we don't have this selected we don't have this selected let's say we okay let's first revert this let's undo it let's say we want to select everything again in this case you can just hit a and everything is selected now let's try and make something oopsie uh yeah so to make the stencils larger or smaller you hold shift right click and just drag and you can you can change the size of the stencil if you just right click and drag you just move it if you control and right click you can rotate it however however you want so let's try and make something that will span multiple panels uh just draw it out again this won't make sense of course and it will be very skewed when now we look at it from this direction for example you see everything is stretched out but this is definitely something that you can play with um let's say here be a nice spot for it there we go draw it on and we have a logo on on our car and that's that's basically it what you are uh what you are doing uh with blender of course if you want to put on a full design of something on the car that's also a possibility so let's go and find uh find one of the the designs that I have for hmm what should I take um yeah let's say this for example so from the Porsche from the intro uh an image that I've used in one of the uh one of deliveries uh we will hit X here so that we will have the perfect position and make the image a little bit larger and there we go okay I'm going to remove this fall off so it's a very harsh coloring so I don't have any soft edges because I'm not really interested in soft edges of course I'm drawing all over our previous awesome design and my computer is struggling a little bit whoa a lot a little bit anyway there we go the design is on the car now of course you will want to finalize it somehow so just move the stencil around keep coloring until you're happy with uh with your outcome uh yeah let's say something like this not really taking a lot of time here because that's not not really the point of the video but you get the idea right so you're moving around the stencil and uh coloring in the missing bits of course you will want to make this a little bit prettier and not just randomly position stuff and keep coloring you will probably want it to look good in the end but uh anyway for the for the uh showcasing purposes this is good enough maybe the roof also needs a little bit of recoloring there we go starting to kind of look like a car we're going to leave the rear end as it is and yeah here you can now see when things are behind objects they don't get colored and you can also see a lot of green is still protruding through you can proceed with just basically coloring in those parts as I am doing right now position the stencil and keep coloring until everything disappears or let's say you're bothered with this area deselect everything select this and you are then greeted with a wireframe on the right here From the Rough object object shape we can ascertain that this bit here is this one here and if we want to make sure we can go here onto mix erase Alpha and oops we have to position the stencil over it and now we can remove and you can see it turned it turned green so this means we have confirmed this area is in fact this this here so let's go back here to mix and just color something in of course it's not perfect but it's getting there and this hole in the hood here is probably the bits around it so we'll color this in here as well and things maybe start looking a little bit better they are colored a little bit more yeah this is looking starting to look pretty good okay uh so now we have our rough design let's hit a again but we want to uh oopsie we still want the uh ACC logo on our car so let's load it back reset transform image aspect let's move the position like this and now what we want is to rotate rotate the view a little bit up you can use the numpad eight rotates up two rotates down four is left six is right uh let's say I wanted something like that and make this a little bit smaller ah come on and rotate it a little bit and I want it right across here again white color oh I wasn't completely white before [Music] uh reason why I want the white color because if you're not if you don't have the exactly white color the color of the brush that you have chosen can shine through the decal that you're painting on basically uh yeah this is maybe a bad example because it's dark over dark but still it's there it's good enough for uh for uh actually put this onto sponsors but yeah as I was saying it's good enough for presentation purposes and let's color this in there we go all right now we want to export this into ACC and the way we do this is we go here onto image and save as I will just save it and here as sponsors PNG save the image go on to decals [Music] and save the image as decals okay now we go back into ACC and we open up the new Porsche create the new uh awesome skin team with car number one two three save it and that's all that we need for now go back into blender and into your documents set of course a competition a directory in customs go to cars so I have it sorted by a date of change and this is my car uh for the future you you will probably want to rename this file so you can rename it now awesome skin guide and copy this name and here you have some car variables that you can change although I wouldn't recommend it uh the one that you do want to change is custom skin name we usually use the same names for the this this text file and the skin directory so I'll just use the same name awesome skin guide save this file close it go back to customs go deliveries right click new folder and give it the same name okay and now what we want to do is copy our decals and sponsors [Music] into here uh and I do believe that this should be already enough please maybe and there we go as you can see our skin is already on it it's nowhere near perfect of course because things are still shining through but if we move the design to number two so it's only carbon not a lot of things can shine through here or even when they do the carbon is not so immediately visible for example but anyway we have the skin in ACC and that's pretty much it now all the other things apply of course so if you want to edit it in Photoshop you can import the the image that you exported from blender into Photoshop to make the final adjustments because you can see some things are have still been left left through like for example around the lights here you can see there's still the yellow from the beginning that we were making on you you might want to correct such things in uh in in Photoshop it's a lot easier to correct them there uh but uh yeah just for the basic positioning of your decals positioning of your design just the transitioning over different different uh panels like for example here from from the rear quarter panel onto the doors or from uh onto onto the side skirt below it just makes it a lot easier and uh yeah just make her life make her life easier with uh with using blender and of course you also have the logo now backwards uh you can still play around with things how how to to to make them better in in blender but I do recommend them doing the final touches and in Photoshop anyway uh I am going to end the video here it's become quite quite long uh but still this should be a short intro into how to make skins using blender and make skins for a set of Corsa competition cars uh thank you for watching if you have any questions please write them down in the comments I'll be happy to answer them uh or maybe make an additional video explaining things in more detail taking a bit more time of actually making the skin um but for now this is it thank you for watching and have an awesome day and I hope to see your awesome creations sometimes on the internet thank you thank you everyone bye
