round about the other day and I ran into a buddy that had these old Trans Am zat his house I remember these cars back in the day when I was just a little kid him driving them around he's looking to sell them we sold the car up here today so we have a little extra cash just play with so we're going to go over there see what he has see what condition they are see if we can bring them home with us [Music] [Music] [Music] how you doing pretty good how are you alright see you made it back yes sir pretty day I seen you outside and thought I'd stop talking well this dog now I was gonna say mention the mo TransAm zai didn't know if you're still in the mood of oh yeah yeah we sold a little car down there to shop today huh man I need to go by there see if you still got him or yeah yeah I wanna I want somebody that there's not more than Lancer yeah carefully check him and all this joke let's go look I remember him whenever I was young you driving him around and then you're your son at it for a little while - yeah I bought I bought that 78 in 1990 mm-hm I drove it to working back never wear it to about 96 and then Aaron took over when he was a freshman in high school and he drove it all the way through high school yeah and then when he graduated he he wanted something that got better gas mileage and all that so he kind of just give it back to me right and then 78 months in 78 and then that's 81 yeah the whole deal on the cars was I was gonna take all this that I wanted our fish car and put it on this one because this has got the t-tops oh yeah it's got your t-tops everything it's a everything's in good condition lots of spare parts amenable minimal on this I mean minimal you can get there's hardly any rust at all right it's just a factory motor and stuff in that Cree motor what size is it it's a as a 400 400 careful pop the who knows let's look it over I've got him covered up I've always kept the motor and all that covered up yeah clean oblak yeah when we when we had them running we washed them everyday of course you you know when when you got them in there running and everything you you're proud to be driving them so you keep them clean but when I had a heart attack Lance I just yes sir I just couldn't uh oh I know about those back burner things once I get put back there they're kind of hard and I just I just got up one day and I said you know I hadn't put them on the Internet or anything but I've had a couple people come by and say well you know like I had guy come back from Dallas he said well I'll be back what a couple months ago so I've always told everybody first come and who's really interested in throw some cash at me right you do you have a title on and they both got tough because I got title of both of us well I guess this thing was it was probably running and driving when you fart - yeah I was running and driving it had it had a carburetor developed a carburetor problem mm-hm and like I say that was right when I got ill yes sir and so I pulled him out here because I just wanted to get him out of the way of the yard but yeah I used to come out here and crank it up but then as time went on of course you know I had brother laws and stuff that needs a spark plug wires and stuff so yeah but now it uh it was a good car for me Lance it it uh it helped me with two kids I raised two kids by myself at him yes certainly yeah I always wanted one and when I when I got it at just in georgia's I mean I used to go by the nursing home just give it hate yep they're cool cars there and they're starting to see a little bit more of people doing stuff with them nowadays and but this is the same model that smokey and abandoned but of course it was a painted when I got it it was brand names I'm not sure what the original color was but you could look it up on the tag and find out what it was yeah but all everything here is original if there's no the transmission the rear end the motor was gone through in 2010 by precision motors oh yeah and so that's why I say the only like I say the only thing that I just for a couple years I'd get out here and started ever 9:00 in and let's going and then I just got to where I just had too much going on but right where do you know where you need to be on them price-wise I've always I've always said around 2002 yeah wasn't expecting you to have titles on both of them that's kind of a rare deal so no motor no nothing and this one's basically just a roller you get out where else when I bought that car from my brother-in-law it had the motor and all that into so that's why I could get too tight and of course the deal with him was that he was gonna take the motor and the transmission because he had a 77 that he was working on and so I got I told my C said well do you want the body and I said well take the body's long and but I'll make sure I got the title yeah would you care if I took the tour no let's take this take it off I've always kept them covered up Buster could Lance yes sir let me get something cut this off it well do you think you can are you strong enough to I think I just kind of see it a little better but other side broke fruit here we go it's even got the plate that was on it it is cool with the t-tops oh yeah I mean it's always this this was my thing was I always wanted one with t-tops in fact when I first bought that Trans Am I had some boys from Oklahoma drive up one day and I'm sitting out in the yard and they had a formula with t-tops and they sit there and they tried and try and try to give me a settlement car but I just bought it and I told her no but when I seen that formula with the t-tops I said I'm gonna get me one with t-top Flint yeah yeah because I've rolled in them and there's nothing like it when you take the t-tops off and you just let everything blow and yep so a 2 grand would you would you consider an offer a 1500 cash today no I won't take 1500 I'll tell you what I'll split the middle and go 18 and out and I'll get the rims and tires so I like Cutlass and put back on them oh those are the wheels yeah because I've got 300 in just the tires over yeah so I'll split the difference with you right I'll go 18 give you the tires and rims all the extra parts that go with it I've got tons of them got two extra seats all that all the backseat and everything for this cars put up and put up had to be recovered but it's not been where there's anything well I think I think I could definitely do that man what would you feel about if we tried to get this old thing to crank back up and maybe drive it away from man if you can if you can get the keys in it needs a battery needs a few wires spark plug wires missing lad you gonna give me $1,800 and get them out of here and do something good I can see you're rolling down the road in one day I gave you a ride and you get it cranking and yes sir you're a white yo well welcome to well I'd like to hear it running in every trip always yeah well maybe we can get her back to breathing again and like I said if that works for you that'd be cool for us and I brought the trailer obviously I can only pick up one so it'd be kind of cool to see if we could like I've got some cash and okay well I've got I've got the titles okay and I can grab them and uh let you look I'm over and like I said the keys in the car and I've got some stuff to do but I know you and yes sir I know your dad so y'all welcome to just come and go as you need okay and a lot of work man you know get together and we'll go through this junk pile I got and we'll find all the extra parts and okay just carry everything we that'll work all right well I'll go grab some cash and is it okay if I bring the trailer back when you do whatever you got to do okay well that'll work I sure appreciate you and I appreciate you then like I said now I wanna be to when you get it going real good and get it looking good out I want to see that one driving down the road know once you come by show yes sir sounds good all right well I'm gonna go grab the cash required to buy it back from you I'm really happy that we were able to come together on the deal on these cars I remember when whenever I was young kid and a Myron on land he drove these cars everywhere this motor had been rebuilt not too terribly long ago he was running when he parked it out here so I thought it'd be really cool if we could try to crank it up allow him to see it running again before it goes to our shop then we'll go ahead and pull everything apart and see what we've got but gonna get this other car loaded up we'll come back from the shop with a little bit of tools we're going to need to try to get this thing a run and just see how the day goes from there [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] we've got this out 81 loaded up it looks a lot better than setting up underneath that Oh pine tree we're going to take a look at this old 78 once again this car was running when it was parked no it's obviously not just going to crank right up there's some things missing and we just kind of need a game plan of what we need to bring back with us from the shop you have any idea of easly a battery it looks like my sides missing - plug wires and this lose at least - over there - here yeah carburetors a little stuck it's gonna burn Tolliver's nests there though looks like it's got a new distributor caps oh yeah it's got water in it but the wouldn't had to bring a little bit more back yeah so we'll go ahead and bring a new set of wires battery just yeah go ahead and bring that fuel tank some carpet cleaner honestly I don't know about brakes there is a little fluid in there but not enough to say at me trust in it to stop the car so we might want to bring a little brake fluid as well transmission fluid I don't know if you see that that's a little spic so alright know if we should be able to tell sup yeah well we got a game plan when you take off down there bring some stuff back see what we can get it to this [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so we stopped by the shop and grabbed just about everything we think we might need to try to get this thing to crank up I've got a hot battery how we brought some tools there's a lot of pine needles up around this thing so we're going to start with just cleaning those out get the plugs pulled out of here and just see if we can get this motor to turn over make sure it's not stuck it's not too bad for sitting as long as it's been sitting it over yeah it doesn't look like any animals have been in this one yet I can actually already see the spark plugs looks like it's about a 5/8 on this plugs don't look too bad at all on that carburetor that's a pretty good dirt no - we're gonna have to break up it's about five o'clock right now so we have around about three hours to try to get this thing cranked up aired up unstuck maybe and on the road to the shop there's no headlights so we're not going to try to drive it at night and obviously we're not going to be able to see you out here to work past nighttime so we gotta move quick hope for the best and pray that this thing will run man and spark plug wires anaconda grill come on pull it apart I'm glad about extras once you pull the ponytail off I hate those ones that are I'm glad we get a running start this for their hands the two times fingers you want to go ahead and check the little level and make sure that it's at least Sykes bullet I'm going to pour a little oil down through the top and anyways native cool cool let's just go ahead and try to turn it over see what it does real quick anyways so the keys were in the coal or hands in it anything left me out of the way the best time to try it out ready yeah I'd be ready to disconnect that battery in case of cylinder hangings or anything crazy happens yeah ready yep nothing the ignition switch feels really nasty really nasty I wonder if it had a start button for the starter the ignition switch feels there's no spring bag tubing back to it it almost seems like we're not I had a an external button somewhere to do the store but I don't see anything I said we could check the headlights if it's even getting I've got a dashed line maybe once a while well it acts like it's the battery honestly because I don't have - lights now still a little - light cleaning it yep there's something that way yeah went away at the solenoid sounds like it yeah that's it'll move off the starter sit idle bump it from up above here I just put a let's put something on that crank and just turn that crank over just a little bit I brought some more we can throw a little bit all in that in them cylinders and give it a little bit of lubrication and probably dry and they pull this off so I don't get one get something crazy happen maybe just just a bad or a weak starter solenoid don't sound too too strong don't have something big enough to go to 3/4 no it's it's baby bigger than the 22 yeah try it setting standards no I got it turn it over turn it over a little bit let's go ahead and try to hook this battery back up and save that story straw so hopefully whatever that man is running it and draw it down make sure everything's connected they sit down here cuz it just doesn't sound like it's getting the power it needs to be you know I get my hands down in there though looks like this is a wire that may run down there to that silly it's probably just that old starter though let's just yeah pull it and clean it up and put it back on and better yeah I can say well hey easy let's go ahead and do it now that we got the plugs pulled out of this car we tried turning it over with the starter found a couple wires loose wires up underneath the dash that looks like he had a push button start ran to it at one point in time so we were able to cross him over and at least get the starter to click it wasn't wanting to turn the motor over so we assumed maybe it was partially locked up we put a socket on the crank there and it's turning over just fine so it doesn't look like that's an issue we have so we're going to go ahead and pull the starter off of it see if we can clean it up a little bit outside the car once we get the starter work and knowing it's engaging like it should we'll try to throw it back on there and see if this thing will turn over we're already losing a little bit of daylight but if we can get it turning over I think it won't be too much longer we'll get this thing to fire up go ahead and pull the whole wire in the kids there's ground wire yeah dart dauber nest up in there this I don't imagine that stopping it from spinning but see that screwdriver lot of junk Brown's funky there yeah we should be able to just check it with that little jump box let's see what we got assuming this little bar that ran to the civil yep smack on it well I had a better way of bringing a jumper cables ooh way back I got a lot of torque dude well cheering at the grand Wow parrot so this yeah name is by the washer great the washer there yeah how about we'll just go back to that I mean I was obviously working so for me at some point in time I can crawl up underneath there and see if I can fish it back tooth under there yeah fish believe it I'll do the boy a wire keep hold at all I'll put it back on now that's work don't know if it cranks it all right how in the world did you did it that you got to go to you one if we can put shoot some air in this tires and if it'll hold some areas it'll hopefully we got herring that tank yeah I put it in over there yeah it's alright then help it sunk in the ground about three or four inches [Music] I was noticing before we get too serious on this thing I don't think there's a lug nut one on the pastor sat in his car especially driving at home [Music] Wow that's not anyone stick help so I go ahead and get the wires put back on here first probably yeah because I think what you how hard you get in there they're hard to get it there's a 9/16 you think I can get at that ground or should I go ahead and connect it so you should be able to get it to ground in all the trouble I had was one of us trying to take it off the backside and that was coming with it so yeah that was the reason for so much trouble we're finally able to get those starter off this car and work on it outside here where we could kind of see it a little better I just took a little bit of pecking around on that a lot of times if you can just get at it where you can clean them up or work with them they'll begin to work so we got this one working we've got it reinstalled now we should be able to hook the battery cables up and it should turn over the way it should have like it's turning over at least a little little sluggish I don't know how fully charged this battery starter might still need a little bit of and it's kind of noisy but there's enough to get it yeah I think we should hurry up and try the bugs and some wires in there and see see if we can get the same fire up honestly these look clean enough to me yeah I'm just cleaning the Tift where the wire goes a little in one event dirt knob and they're still on it I got dirt all over to get in here starting yeah yep to get my first one started you just got to hold your eyes mister I've been holding a mouth well all the time was my eyes so once you figure out how they go in there they go pretty pretty quick they're like I don't know not exactly and degrees but not exactly angle which was number one distributor what I think I'm gonna pull that off so we can see which way he's got a zip tied over here so the wire so yeah you know flat and trend you want to bump it over real quick and see I catch me that thing spear yep so you get that coming even numbers on your stuff yeah one was here correct yes eight four three so that's God all of them ran yep shot up a little gas I guess yeah doc our carburetor cleaner yeah let me transfer carburetor cleaner it's kind of got a bad connection out here also so if it ain't want to turn over I'm gonna try to start it inside where he had those wires so I know that we got a hot ignition switch ready ready yeah this close well unfortunately we've made it about as far as we can with this car tonight the idea is that we were going to drive it home from this guy's house and we haven't made it there yet we've been fighting this starter back and forth we're running out of daylight now really this car is just going to need a new starter it keeps it keeps binding up where it doesn't want to turn over and that's just due to age if it just setting up for so long so we'll we'll buy a new starter we'll bring it back over here I think it's going to be real close to firing up need to make sure our firing orders right but once we get this thing where it's turning over consistently we should be able to crank it up and get it back to the shop well here we are back with the car on day two last night we were running out of daylight we couldn't see out here we're out in the middle of nowhere with a the closest local park place is about 30 miles away and then on top of the fact that they didn't have the starter in stock and had to order it so now we've got a new starter we went ahead and bought some more battery cables as well going to put the starter on there run them cables down there that should fix the issue of the the car not wanting to turn over yeah get it turning over good we'll make sure that we've got everything in order on the firing order get some fuel on it and hopefully we can crank this thing up we'll go ahead and try to run the cables down there so it's hard to connect them up once the starters around background okay well they didn't give us a nut for it [Applause] you may have an issue with the hot wire being up underneath that it's doing [Music] because the time that's gonna pick me up against the oyster in there let's fish it back through and come up on this side they should get us there let's make sure before I get it get always a little bit longer cables we bought new cables when we put this new starter on there just because we weren't sure if what they if we may have been having problems with them okay Buhl's anyways we bought the longest that they had in stock they just why ain't quite long enough but I believe we can make them work for right now well let you talk let him go back to that on there - yeah I've got to get a different size for that try that myself get love gasps I guess ready there's all that was left in cylinders uh dude crank out I'm not sure if the firing order is exactly right or there's something it could just still be that out although that's gonna try again yeah let me pour a little gas in it already ready yep she tried yeah it just needs more fuel I think so it was like we had to cut the loan there and I was gonna run just that temporary tank on it because you don't know how bad we can always cut it and then but what I hid my filter there later it's amazing what a good working starter will do on the progress on this thing yesterday we were just trying to make stuff work that just wasn't going to work for us now that we got this new starter on there it's turning over great obviously it just cranked up does it sound the best it's smoking out a little bit but we also put some oil in the cylinders and then plugs are going to burn that off for a little bit so hopefully once all that all burns out that smoking will quit we're going to go ahead and run there just our temporary fuel tank let it gravity fade then we'll probably just put an inline filter in here and try to run it off the tank to drive it home to get way out here to do it though because I can't I can't make a turn there except you're not mad without here I have to cut it again filter everything on screen yeah I don't know which one runs to the carburetor and which one runs for the time one's just to return the other one comes up think this the big one's gonna be here yeah I think we can just take it lay set the fuel on their house a flat blade screwdriver that can't say don't you yeah pretty nasty-looking well most of that was from this old dry rotted hose if you can drop that other one down here make sure it clears any belts and anything moving the hose here so that'll hold it away from the belt ouch and try it ready yep oh yeah dad holding bugs back out of that plane well she's running it's smoking like crazy right now and I can only hope that that's that all that we put down in the cylinders on this thing we may just go ahead and pull the plugs back out clean them real good that way they're getting a good hot fire to burn to burn better but it is running I'm not sure if the firing order is exactly right on this thing it sounds like it has a myth in it for sure but it could be the carburetor as well so we're just going to tear into it a little bit more try to tweak it just a little bit better so we can make it home with this thing [Music] we went ahead and pulled the plugs back out of this thing and clean them up the best we could in a perfect world of course we'd love to put new plugs in this thing once again we're about 30 miles from the nearest parts store and we're trying to beat the rain so we really just want to get this car home right now it should crank up and run a little better we're going to go ahead and try the transmission make sure it'll go in gear put a little brake foot fluid in the master cylinder hopefully they'll pump up I know that there needs some lug nuts on about all these wheels on this car so we're just going to try to crank it up right now and hopefully we're getting really close to moving this thing from where it's been sitting for a while ready yeah it seems to be running a lot better I think maybe we'd have a couple plugs that just st. fine so it sounds like she loves or something yeah it could be I think at this point we can definitely try to limp the car home a probably best thing to do is one puts the lug nuts on those wheels before we try to put it in gear anything so yeah yeah so let's get some lugs on now are some lug studs and lug nuts let's get something on there come in and go oh my god I don't think we got enough throw I really doubt these brakes are going to pump back up but you never know still have them fluid who needs brakes you're gonna TransAm I'm gonna try pumping them up oh that goes you can pull that back off safer they even getting any bubbles yeah nothing oh yeah we are I don't think they're gonna pump up you still have fluid in it so I had a little hope that they mind we quit getting bubbles so I got an emergency but right honestly if it even seems like it works oh yeah feels like wow it will release say let's try to see if we can put more gas in it will that be able to run through there look everything here you should be good you got 800 miles to go you think you gonna make it on I'm gonna move my truck since I have no brakes try it out hopefully I mercy bright works while running the greatest but she is alive gotta run it Sharon got no right jump kitchen check the fluid yeah we checked all the fluids on it got it where he was turning over had to put a starter on it the whole story which kind of gummed up on it just a little bit this dis from old car just sitting out there you know there's the typical stuff a messing with it I was hoping the emergency brake would work but I think I can limp it home and a lady ain't got too far to go so be careful yeah I appreciate you letting us stay out here and try to at least try it it so we'll get it back to the crab we'll get it back to the shop and definitely go through a lot more stuff just thought it'd be kind of cool though you uh come by and give you a ride in it for sure so well we're gonna go ahead and try to take off in this thing so I don't know how long that little gas tank will last me so thank you sir all right we rollin [Applause] [Music] well maybe driving this thing home with no brakes wasn't the greatest idea but probably wasn't the greatest idea trying to get it running on the guy's property either but hey we did it and that's how memories are made this thing ran pretty good just to make it up the road aways a lot of stuff we still want to do to it need to get a new carburetor on this thing definitely need to get some new tires
