[Applause] what we dropped in dude was that was that cool it was really cool yeah i owe it all to my expert instructor and you never could have done that without me [Music] my name is aaron cairo and i'm a sponsored skateboarder from the san francisco bay area and today i'm going to learn how to skate vert you know i posted this on the braille community tab i said who do you want to see a series with on the vert ramp 61 said aaron cairo 12 said mowgli 10 said chris mcnugget and then jd and ricky are both tied at eight percent eight percent i mean you want to know who i want to see learn to skate vert is jd he's got so much work to do he needs he needs so much learning and then i read some of the comments and they said we just want to torture aaron okay you want torture of aaron you got torture of aaron so i'm going to do a whole series learn to skate vert so i'm going to learn a trick who else is going to learn a trick here most of them are saying no thank you today i dropped in on the vert range had like everything everything what do you mean everything everything did you drop the resi first what do you mean almost everything on i had helmet elbow pads and knee pads what do i got today i thought you were wearing wrist cards on that one but oh maybe i was hold on let's see five years ago before you start okay what's sick this is before jd started getting burnt so you've been skating about longer than jesus [Music] i had wrist guards elmo pants knee pads you're right hold on watch this though oh i almost died i almost died what we dropped in and now we're doing it at the bottom yeah watch the bottom whoa five years ago and on that day i vowed i will never do that again like i was like i dropped in my career is over here we are five years later and uh i own one and now it's a very scary reality that i have to learn so i want to do this series because i hope that it will inspire people to me it's super fascinating to take a person who's 37 years old i've been skateboarding for 27 years to take a person who's been skateboarding street for 27 years and just throw them in the vert ramp so i'm going to do my best to take you through my thoughts my fears my emotions of this series as i learn tricks and i brought some friends ricky's gonna learn a trick yeah jd's gonna teach me yeah maybe i'll learn a trick today too he's gotta actually teach me though because sometimes he just says you got it well i'll teach you the one trick that we say like jd we think we could front smith he just says no no no you cannot don't even try i was gonna do rock to fakie i saw a lot of comments people asking for rock to fakie and then ricky i said do not rock fakie aaron you will body hey i didn't say that i said you got this but not tomorrow tomorrow is not the day for doing it yeah that's what he said yesterday you said tomorrow so i've been learning a lot i set up a brand new verb board where my verb board oh it's right there come peep it out so it's 8.25 inches wide the trucks are 8.25 inches wide they had the universe on them so i painted them blue and then my wheels are 56 millimeter got the brand new braille bearings in there abec 9 super fast so yeah these are 101 a a little bit harder than we would like on the vert my mentor is telling me it's a little bit like if i get softer wheels it'll grip the ramp better and i'm sliding all over the place right mentor yep exactly correct do you think i should put the t-shirt on or leave the long sleeve here's the other thing that he taught me he said you guys are you guys are vert posers here's how you clean your wheels on the vert ramp so i saw a question about this you get you just get like dust i guess it's dust right yeah it's just dust on your wheels knee pad juice dust and you got to like scrape it off so uh the other thing is jd put this sticker here and he said that's the lucky sticker whenever you're learning a new trick you gotta tap it and then you walk up this you might ask yourself how many stairs is that well i'll answer you it's 20 stairs even i wanted to do this series just straight out the gate like my very first day on the vert ramp but i i have been skating in a couple days so really kind of day three four ish so i'm gonna i'm gonna first go over like what i learned so far to drop in and every time i get up here it's scary and i've learned how important it is on vert to bend your knees after learning how to knee slide and in fact what i think i should do is warm up on knee slides no not jumping knees slide from the bottom i'm not trying to body yeah that would be a good first trick i would say first trade i thought i was on like trick five at least says i think that'd be a good first trick but aaron's getting better than he slides you know it's super against your instinct to want an e-slide as a street skater you just want to step you want to run so i think the first maybe the only like trick would you consider a slash a trick yeah that's a trick don't be nice jd no it's actually a trick so basically a slash is a kick turn where you go up high enough whoa i almost fell where your trucks hit the coping like that not quite not exactly a grind but kind of it's kind of like a turn grind so it took me like a while to work up to that i gotta get these out of my face maybe i gotta do the t-shirt go ahead give us a run ricky i'm gonna put the t-shirt wow you want to give us a run to inspire us jd or should i just go for it yeah i'll do a run all right i'll get your back whoa my lucky clip you ready so this is what i'm trying to do right here i'm trying to slash and that would basically take me through every trick that i've done so far bend your knees aaron bend your knees oh wow did i grind did my both wheels almost come to the top i almost bodied when you grind you hear this i didn't hear that i heard a tiny bit oh okay here we go did you see that tiny see how it feels to be a beginner go ahead call me a poser go ahead why would i call you that one i don't even do that he said beginner all right all right all right i'll do a better one i'm sorry dad almost going right there ah almost [Music] you're going like that but your like truck isn't on it it's like this what do i got to do to fix that uh just like lean a tiny bit back so then it would grind and go more in an angle you realize we're 11 feet in the air yeah one doesn't just lean a little bit more back i mean that's what you got to do there's a certain feeling of weightlessness when you get up there because look at this this is what i've learned about how scary the vert ramp is fully up and down your wheels right there are 100 up and down it's just straight up vertical all right jd give us a backside slash like a like a like sick one so that's almost a 5-0 is that what i look like please yeah go give it a run everyone's learning vert today right oozy oh boy what's that trick called can you do that kind of maybe we should have jd learn that okay fakie out of your tail tap what do you want to learn out of those two i would like to what i'm doing oh early grab i don't even need to learn it watch this i'll do it in a line right here in fact let me show you a run oh and here to the x games aaron cairo oh wow right oh was that a slash no it wasn't you're kidding me your truck is missing it because my wheels are too big i'm running size 60s and your writing size 58 so i want to see that okay slasher oh the thing about vert that scares me the most is walking up the stairs every time i get butterflies wait i know it's wrong [Applause] [Music] feels like danny wayne ride the lightning after he bodies and then he does that backside rodeo or whatever it was okay i need actual help jd okay yeah okay okay we gotta jump in i gotta jump in it's freaking me out all right okay show me show me how to jump in okay kind of when you're jumping and you kind of do like the jumps that the girls do or they go like yeah yeah you kind of do that into the ramp so yeah oh boy put the pedal to the middle but you dropped like far and now little blue jump but i feel like you're hitting the transition and i'm not the reason why you're kind of landing more out is because you're jumping a little bit out jd do you like skate no i hate skates oh my gosh got him okay so that was pretty good should we run it just me huh okay thanks guys oh yeah i'm a birch skater now sponsor me video coming soon so so this is the thing this is just like how i teach street skateboarding like you have to know your exit strategy you have to very gradually work your way up very very very gradual and that's like what i'm trying to do i feel like if i wanted to just be like ah ah i got it and just went super fast that i could do it i could break my leg i could knock myself out it's like quite risky this is real life out here so trying to slowly work my way up but i think that was pretty good try to practice knee sliding if you like build one knee slightly do you know what my knee slide there was quite good yeah that one was good yeah yeah okay so i get you i think ricky you should learn your trick too fakey rock you need some hypebeast you definitely got it i feel like i'm alone out here i don't even have any metallica okay ricky here's something to like do no no sir no no no no no no no all right so you think i should do that is that scary that doesn't feel too bad that's not the scariest thing you've ever done like how you asked yesterday d can you change your like feet at the flat bottom is that a good question that's what you got to do yeah you got to move your front foot towards the nose at the flat bottom you know when you're bombing a hill and you're like i'm never going to move my feet from the position they're in right now that's how it kind of feels you know that's scary though dang smith i think i should do the switch rock off a pump to fake you or rock the pig um whatever you want to do do you want to shoot your pump yeah okay you got it tail tap yeah yeah not off of that guy nope bad luck might throw up [Music] not lean back or else you're gonna hit your butt like that did i get my tail on the coping was that commitment mm-hmm if you fall forward then that's commitment i ain't gonna lie to you that hurt it's not what they say that hurt i think phelps said it actually he's like as long as you're falling forward it means you committed so like say you're doing a trick you land it and you fall forward then you committed to it oh he committed to that one i guess oh yeah got it that was perfect don't get scared now don't get scared now you feel like in your stomach it starts moving up into your chest it goes into your head and then you're dead my gosh you had too much speed oh [Applause] i don't know if i can like i just don't know if i can like you know it's all here are we living ricky glazer how do you feel like actually terrified dude it's literally you're just putting your tail down for a second we got it sounds good i just bailed right yeah all right right here let me just go yet hard scary thing for me ever [Applause] oh right here for led zeppelin oh yeah all it is no commitment do i need to bend my knees more what's happening no that was perfect you just gotta commit to it so i'm not committing yeah that's exactly what's happening you just gotta commit to it it's like you're not coming out and tail stalling it's just a little i'm gonna do the first one where i literally go back to dropping let's go [Music] let's run it for mo i love you brother [Music] oh knee slide he fell for it danny wait ride the lightning you gotta say can you walk can you walk i don't think you can walk yeah i don't think i got it what am i doing yeah oh yeah first try it you gotta get his back did he do it yeah yeah ricky you are such a good guy and a good friend i don't know how you just commit like that okay well i'll try and do no stall switch tail stuff i'm sweating i'm nervous i feel like i need to pee puke and vomit all at the same time wait puke and vomit is the same i'm doing it too high i'm too high too fast it's like i got too much speed i'm trying to mick twist oh yeah oh my goodness more no that was just perfect you just gotta land it [Applause] we got a shoe on aisle nine oh i can't even make jokes when i'm like seriously nervous you're gonna stay down there yeah no way get up there you're killing me oh yes it's just mental yeah it's all in your head ricky you [Applause] let's go [Applause] i almost rolled my ankle getting up i am tripping out on this you're going from straight vertical to not back while in motion on an 11-foot wall think of it as a drop-in just think of it as a drop-in yeah what am i doing why am i bailing with every trick i need you to call me a poser it's the time the time has come avert poser poser got him yes [Applause] let's go [Applause] that was so hard and so deadly okay we got that hope you guys are enjoying this series this is episode one i'm gonna do my best to try and keep this going i almost had a mental and physical breakdown in this video it's just so to me it's like straight up vertical wall and it's flat so i start thinking of it like a ledge and a as a street skater you're like a ledge you always stay on top you never go on the bottom so it's like literally to me it's like you're falling and then the ramp catches you if that makes sense so like going switch that fast or fakie or whatever you want to call it is already like scary enough for me and then like the timing just has to be perfect but then like i said it's just like one of those things where i already like bailed it pretty hard i don't think anything worse than my board going up and doing like fakey rock in the middle i don't think anything worse than that was gonna happen i already feel like okay i got away from that unscathed thanks to jd thanks to my knee slides my mentor jd 11 years young 11 years strong once i did how many did i do four yeah okay i feel like i'm set up for the fakie ollie i went into this video though thinking i was going to fakie ollie i have no idea what episode two will be i'm gonna try and do one of these every week cannot promise that though because you never know ah yeah but yeah i'm stoked to do a new series that is like for me like a huge like new learning experience and i don't know i see a
