hey guys and girls uh this is a really difficult video that I'm doing here this evening and uh I've been debating all day long about whether to do it or not but uh I just felt like it was it was something that I really wanted to do needed to do because uh a great man a great friend uh deserves great things said about them they deserve to uh to have people know what kind of individuals they were than people that maybe they don't even know never heard of and uh and I've lost a great friend here in the last U day or two and uh I just wanted to say some some good things about him uh my partner here at this Ranch uh I own this Ranch uh in a partnership with Steve Wells um we lost Steve Wells um actually lost him Sunday night when he fell on some ice at his house near Oklahoma City and uh and hit his head and U was in the hospital there for a couple of days and officially we lost him yesterday but uh what a great friend he was what a great man uh one of the things I can say great about Steve Wells is he's a great Christian man he's a Christian man a Believer he's a great family man a great husband a father grandfather and great friend he's a great partner here on the ranch uh Steve bought um half interest in this Ranch from uh uh Dr Neil small who was individual that we bought this ranch with 20 years ago it's been maybe I don't know 10 or 11 or 12 years since uh since Steve bought the the half interest he's been a great partner completely totally 100% honest a man of great integrity uh and his son Aaron so much like my son Jamie worked in the business when he graduated from engineering school at the University of Oklahoma he probably worked in the business bu since he was a little kid but he worked in that business for his dad all all of his life and can do just about anything he he drives drag racer 69 Camaro and both of his kids beautiful kids both of them the girl and the boy both Drive drag racers and uh his family just they did everything together they fished together they hunted together they went to drag races together um he had a place down on Texoma they went down there together on weekends and and during the summertime and water skied and enjoyed as a family um so much like me and my family that it's really pretty amazing when you really think about it he's a tremendous partner um pretty much anything I wanted to do and the way that we're set up here at Twin Eagle Ranch um you know it's an undivided partnership we both own the full Ranch we just own 50% of it and uh we put money into account every month to pay all the bills and if we want to do something we if it's something minor we just do it don't really worry about it whatever you know I want to do something I just do it and and and goes through the ranch account and U uh something major well he'll call me about or I'll call him about and he loves nature he loves the deer he loves the fish he more of a hunter probably than a fisherman but he's got awful nice bass boats really really nice Ranger bass boats and uh and uh his family loves to fish he loved this Ranch uh he was a tremendously successful business businessman uh he owned a company here in Oklahoma called Midway traff uh Midway traffic controller Midstates traffic control can't remember exactly what mid you Midway Midstates I don't know my mind's a little I'm still in a little bit of a shock right now as as I'm sure a lot of his friends and his family for sure and um I'm hurting with them a lot but uh but he did tremendous things with that company uh he worked a lot with the highway department and uh ODOT the Oklahoma Department of Transportation he didn't build highways but he did shoulders and mediums and guard rails and and the guard cables the cables you see on interstates all around the country are all all all from uh from from Steve Wills company and uh and he's just done remarkably well at it uh he owns another company or I guess his wife Becky owns it she runs it anyway uh called American Sign company and they do the green signs you see on interstates and Oak Street and Fourth Street down in cities and stuff all around Oklahoma and so they've been very successful at business he worked really hard at business he's uh um a little bit younger than me but but not a whole lot um and uh he still go out there and work in that business every day that he could uh Aaron kept wanting him to retire and stay at home and but he didn't uh his hands was kind of messed up with arthritis a little bit but he would Dive Right In there and work with those wrenches and stuff and doing various things whatever it might be electrical work U uh his son Aaron's like my son Jamie could fix and do just about everything and in addition to that Aaron could drive just about anything they owned a lot of equipment and they just do a lot of work here in Oklahoma they do a lot lot of work around the casinos we have over aund 100 Indian casinos here in Oklahoma they do a lot of work for our our Indian tribes here in Oklahoma and uh he's left an imprint on this state that's that's pretty big really I mean you almost can't go anywhere without seeing something that uh Steve Wills company uh wasn't involved in in a in a really big way but uh a man of integrity a great partner a great friend um married over 50 years to the same beautiful woman and u a tragic loss and uh he spent the weekend down at Lake Texoma house at Texoma him and Becky and they'd come back home Sunday night they were watching the football game like I was with my friend red Barry here at our house and Chris and Joan and we were watching a football game and having dinner and uh he had gone back to Oklahoma City and and uh was going back and forth while he's watching the football game to get stuff out of the truck or or whatever but stepped out on the on the step and and slipped on the ice and the ice was dramatically slick unbelievable slick I might have been the slickest ice I've ever seen I our uh electricity went out right in the middle of that ice storm about about 8:00 or 8:30 that evening right in the middle of that football game we were eating dinner and all the power went off in the house and then about a minute later my Genera generator kicked on and all the lights and stuff come back on it only ran about 5 minutes and went off again and uh never came back on after that and Hunter wouldn't come out and look at it or talk to me on the phone and tell me what I might do and uh I know now might have could have gone out there and manually started that that generator and we might have had power and OG did come and fix the power they got the power fixed about 1:00 at night and it got pretty cold in the house but it wasn't bad we just went to bed we simply went to bed but but Steve stepped out on his porch to go to his truck and and slipped on that ice and I went outside when the generator quit and to look at the generator and the propane tank and vanelli ran out and she just hit the ice and just went sliding and so I was trying to be super careful and I I just barely I had three steps to go down down as all and and they were unbelievably slick in fact after I looked at the generator and come back in I told Red Berry and and Joan I said do not go outside if you need something out of your truck don't go get it do not that is so slick out there it's amazing but anyway he slip and fell on the ice and hit his head and U and never really regained Consciousness and U but I just want to I guess pay my tributes to uh Steve Wells a great friend great partner in this Ranch and uh he loved the ranch he loved to fish here he loved to hunt um his son Aaron loves to fish and Hunt his grandkids he's got a grandson fishes better than any of them he fishes better at any of them and uh I'm sure Aaron will uh probably keep his interest in this rant I certainly hope so because he's a great friend as well and and just an absolutely great partner uh Aon just I don't know just tremendous partner but uh I just wanted to tell you we've had a something really uh sad and hurting happened here on Twin Eagle Ranch uh we lost uh one of the two owners of the company but uh this Ranch is owned by his family and owned by our family so it's owned by a lot of people not just him and I but he was such a big part of it and such an important part of it and uh such an important part of a lot of things that go on here in Oklahoma and uh I guess the most important thing I could pass on about my friend Steve Wells is he's a man of integrity he's a man of honesty he was a man that uh was a great father great-grandfather great husband and uh we sure miss him but as my daughter Sherry sent me a note back uh last night and she says well this is a terrible deal dad but it's uh it's a good deal for Steve he's in heaven he's rejoicing he would come back now probably for nothing it's a bad deal for the rest of it for his family and for friends Partners uh buddies business associates uh one of the great things about it when God calls a Christian home the rest of us know and we're going to see him again one day we're going to hug him again one day and he knows right now how much we're missing him we lost a a great man we lost a great friend and uh Steve I'll see you one day buddy and I sure do love you
