[Music] Welcome to a new video! Jörg and I are on
our way to Richmond in North Yorkshire where we booked a spectacular accommodation. And
in case you missed our previous video where we give you a full tour, I will link it for
you up here. Well, along the way we've come across such gorgeous scenery and countryside
and some quirky villages and just have to stop and film in between. And we just hope
you enjoy it. [Music] Good afternoon everyone! As you can see it's
very very chilly. And we've already spent one night in our amazing accommodation here
in North Yorkshire. This is where we spend three nights and it's so unique and special.
Now we're heading into Richmond which is only a 10 minute walk and it's a historic market
town. And there is a Christmas Vintage Fair so we want to have a look. We don't know if
we will be able to film. I hope we can just a little bit. That would be so nice. Yeah,
let's give it a try [Music] That was not what we expected. No, it was
like two vintage stalls and not really Christmassy. Not Christmassy at all. We're really sorry
about that. Yeah. But Richmond is nice, isn't it? Yes. And the station building is interesting.
Yeah, that's true. Because it's an old railway station which they converted into shops and
a cinema. Yeah. The station looks Victorian. Yeah. Is it? Yeah, it is. Although although
it says that Richmond is a a Georgian town. Yeah but the train station is from the mid
19th century. Yeah, you can really see it. It's I love Richmond. It's it has such character,
doesn't it? [Music] You can probably see it, it's getting very
very foggy so it will be a cold night I think which means we have to snuggle in bed which
is so nice in winter because it keeps you very warm. [Music] We had a tiny bit of snow
this morning. Some of it has gone already but it looked so magical when we woke up this
morning. Hello and Grüß Gott you lovely people. Oh,
you're speaking German today. Yes. Well, not only today. I mean Jörg and I speak German
at home. Yeah, it's our mother tongue. Exactly yeah. But as you can see the weather's absolutely
glorious and we said we just have to step outside. Yes. You know what? Have a nice walk.
Yes. [Music] [Music] We just stumbled upon an Italian ice
cream parlour. Yeah, the first one I've ever seen. I know. But uh, they also have like,
what are they called like biscotties or something? Yes. Please, um, if um, any Italians are watching
this do excuse our pronunciation. But this is very very rare here - yeah - and very common
in Germany yeah so. The only thing is it's a bit too cold for ice cream so but it's so
nice to to see it here. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] We just had a nice walk in Richmond.
Yeah and it's not as foggy as yesterday. Yeah. And before we before we came, I was going
to say before we came to our folly it's not ours. No. Well, we made some plans and what
we will do now is, I will do some Christmas baking. Yeah and I'll do some mulled wine.
Yes. Although it will be non-alcoholic mulled wine - yeah - so that I can have some as well
because usually, we will see if I really like it. Usually I don't really like the taste
of alcohol. Yeah but that's non-alcoholic. I know but - it will just taste like spices.
You think? Yes. We will see. So I'm going to make Lebkuchen, gingerbread. Yeah. And
to save some time, we prepared the dough last night and Jörg, what does it contain? Um
gluten-free flour. Icing sugar. Yes. Butter. Eggs. Hmm. Cocoa powder. Lebkuchengewürz. Yes. It's
a kind of all spice. Yes. Um. I don't, I probably forgot something so what we will do is we
will put the recipe down below in the info box. This is something we recently got like
wooden moulds and they look very vintagey. I think they they look very nice. My Grandmother
had similar ones. Yeah. [Music] We are so pleased with this. Looks. The moulds work
so well. This looks definitely like good a old Christmas, doesn't it? [Music] Look, we have some spectators. It seems. It
looks like a kind of stau. Like a - they're queuing. Like a traffic jam. Yes. These are
UK sheep. Look they queue. Yes! That looks very orderly. That's true. Well, we have our
very first batch here and they will go or this will go into the oven at 170 degrees
Celsius for five to seven minutes. Jörg decided to try one in between - hmm - before tea. Really good? Is it very dry because of the
gluten-free flour? No, it's okay. You get a hat now. Let's have a look Santa.
Ho ho ho. Ho ho ho. It's just a little bit big. Yeah. It keeps you very warm. Hmm. So
now let's make one mulled wine. Mulled wine. Okay. And what are you using?
This is - an alcohol-free wine. Hmm. Shiraz. Yes. Hmm, okay. Then we also need - star anise.
Cinnamon. Hmm. And then you will need Glühweingewürz. Hmm. And I think this is something we got
from my sister - yes - as a present. Yes. So you can't really get that here in the UK.
No but you get something which is called mulled wine spice. I think we saw that. I've got
it at home. Oh okay. Yes. And it looks like a tea bag. Yeah. Okay so - so it's all the
spices in a tea bag. There you go. And then an orange. Yeah. Yeah. So wine- And you just
warm that up now. You just probably mix everything. I'll only do half of it. Yeah. Yes, please.
Cinnamon stick. Hmm. Star anise. Always looks nice as well. Have a whiff. Oh that really, that smells really good. Like
Glühwein. Aren't you hot in your hat? No. And this is what it looks like. And how much
do you need? I I take two. I don't know if it says something in in the description. Probably
does but - we don't care. And to give it a twist some orange juice. So we won't be eating
all of our Christmas biscuits 'cause this is too much but what we will do is we
brought a little tin. It's probably not big enough but um, yeah we'll store the biscuits
in there. And you know what? I think if you're looking for for a Christmas present that's
maybe not too expensive and self-made or homemade, I think this because they look so so fashioned
and vintagey and then as a present and a tin is gorgeous. [Music] Okay. And Jörg uses a sieve. And yeah, I'm
excited to try it. So that took about 20 minutes. Quite easy.
This is the Stollen we made I think about five weeks ago. And Jörg tried it, tried
it yesterday. And it's just gorgeous. What Kirsten believes is that the Stollen is too
dry. Hmm. Ad this is because when you, at the end you have to put some butter on it.
Yes. Punch holes in it and put some butter on it - yes - before you wrap it. And we probably
did not use enough butter. I I think yeah we would yeah we would need to use more. But
what you can do. I mean I I must confess I tried a little bit and the taste is absolutely
divine. Yes. And don't be afraid when you after four weeks - yes - when you unwrap it
- yes - it's not, it doesn't look like in the shop. No. No. The icing sugar is a bit
brown probably and um, not as nice and neat as in as a Stollen in the shop. But it looks
like this. That's how it has to be. I think it looks really good. Yes. And I think - but
the icing sugar, some parts here - yeah - yeah, here it looks a bit brown - yeah - but that's
absolutely fine. Yes, it's absolutely fine. And it's so good. Like it really needs four
to five weeks. And we didn't really touch it. No. And what you could do if it is too
dry, you can use a little bit of butter or spread. Yes. And it's honestly it's so good.
Lebkuchen.Yes. And Glühwein. Yes. I need to try it as well. Merry Christmas. Merry
Christmas. Mmhh. It's good. Like at a German Christmas
Market. No, it's good. You know what I can taste? The orange which I really like. And the gluten-free Lebkuchen which honestly is so easy to make. What what
do you think? Excellent. Glühwein and Lebkuchen. And Stollen. Like I don't know. Like in heaven. laughs [Music] This is Tennants Auctioneers. And
the reason we came here. I don't know if you remember when we made our bedroom or showed
our bedroom three months ago, I mentioned Rita Konig and the video where she shares
how to make a bed. And there is one part where she shows her visit to Tennants Auctioneers
and yeah, we're here we're still in Yorkshire and we want to pay a visit. [Music] [Music] So we're more or less backstage at Tennants
here and it's so exciting. Yes, it's very interesting. So there are several rooms here
displaying items that will be available in upcoming auctions. Yes. What they do is they
evaluate them and put them into lots. Yes. And I must admit I saw some things already
for us. Yes. Like Staffordshire figurines. Yeah. And the funny, the interesting thing
is or a good thing is, they've got all ranges so it's - yes, price ranges yes - so things
affordable - yes - very expensive things so something for everybody I think life auctions
are happening here once a week, right? Yes, Yes. So you can come and bid - and take them
with you - yes. Or bid online of course. But now let's film some things because there are
some real beauties. Yes. [Music] [Music] This cupboards looks amazing for the kitchen.
Yes. So we get this one and let's say return our ladder. No, we would need a we would need
another house but this is so fun. I think very very quirky and colourful. That's really beautiful. [Music] [Music] [Music] This is actually a very very nice
table. Little side table. [Music] We're now in the public area. Yeah.
And here they display things which will be in upcoming auctions. Yes. For example, let's
go to this area, there's some amazing Arts and Crafts furniture - yes - that you need
to see. This is for an upcoming auction in March 23. And this is oak furniture from a
craftsman called Robert Thompson. Yes or the mouse man. Yes he's known as mouse man here.
And he is very very popular here in Yorkshire. And we must say, this you can just see the quality of this
furniture. And the reason why Robert Thompson is called the mouse man, I hope you can see
this.yYu find little mice on the furniture itself. So here's one. And on the chair. Yes.
On the chair as well. On the leg. Quite quirky as well. [Music] And here's something from
William or by William Morris and it's called Sussex Settee. And we absolutely love it.
This is so timeless and it looks amazing against the William Morris
wallpaper. [Music] This is amazing. This is part of a private collection of antique costumes
and the auction will be in February next year and the dresses are, I think they are gorgeous.
And I think, yes, this is a Chanel overcoat. [Music] On the upper level is an art exhibition and you can buy these pictures. And the artist
is called Sophie Roberts and we were told that it's quite quite popular. People love
the pictures. And they do look very nice. [Music] This was our weekend in Yorkshire. Yes. And
we love coming here because we both grew up with All Creatures Great and Small. Yeah,
we both did. Our highlight every Sunday. Yeah. And I think probably, I was a bit more obsessed
than you because I always like as a child, I said I want to live in Yorkshire someday.
No, I did not think about that. But I I must say I still would because there are so many
lovely villages and areas. And regarding Tennants because we're still in front of Tennants - yeah
- or behind Tennants, we think you don't always have to buy something very big. Yeah. You
could find small treasures. So if you need a gift - hmm - and think about something special
- yes - maybe an auction could be an idea. Yes, small items or even like an antique watch.
It doesn't have to be like not a Rolex or something. No. Just something from the 50s.
Unique, something with a history. Yes. So that's a good idea. And we also had lunch
here. We just couldn't film so - and it was really good. Yeah. It makes like, I think
it's a great opportunity for a day out as well. Yeah. Thank you so much for watching
and we hope you enjoyed it. Yeah. And we will probably film one more video before we head
to Germany for Christmas. See you again next time. Bye bye. Bye. Bye.
