you know there wasn't the the steady with Jimmy you did one hell of a job and only thing else I got to say is how about them whether it was good or bad The Human Side came out we said we're going to win it in the fourth quarter and we won it in the fourth [Applause] quarter to see the ju to position between a man who is phased and maniacal about coaching his team to Jimmy Johnson now it's breathtaking is it's a pretty setting like he hates the person that he had to be and that he was back then it's a remarkable Evolution you going to be a football player when you go the MH today is the best day of your life believe it he might be the finest quarterback produced in the last 10 years some daylight that's all I need fortunately for me I didn't lose my life didn't lose my job football convinced things that life is a team game rest of your life nobody can ever tell you that you couldn't do [Music] it go my name is Jimmy Johnson I can be your Ultimate Survivor I've watched every minute of every episode of Survivor you've had some good people on there but I believe I can beat all comers back when I was a kid you know I always thought about you know maybe going to the Amazon you know and you know I always wanted a pet monkey and so the Survivor program came on and I started watching them and I said man I'd love to do that I remember him saying I've never missed an episode of Survivor and I want to be on it you go you're like almost 70 really you want to do this I'm in good physical health although my wife Rhonda says I'm crazy and I used to tease him I said just lock you out of the house and you could sleep in the woods and you know starve to death get that and probably within the I know within the first 24 hours of Survivor sitting in the jungle with no food no sleep Jimmy realizing what an incredibly stupid idea this was we had less than 200 calories a day I didn't use a bathroom till the eth day that tells you how much I was eating nothing even though he only lasted a few episodes he made a big impact all you had to do is look at Jimmy and say Jimmy what's wrong with this tribe let me tell you Jeff we got a few things wrong now I'm not trying to be the leader yes you are okay I guess I am but I think it's one of the things that he's probably the most proud of when I got voted off they said goach we got some great food for you jerk chicken this and that I said give me a cold beer I suck down about four or five beers I was happy [Music] Jimmy's enjoying life after I don't know how many years they being a coach just grinding and grinding and grinding and I envy that a great deal being out on the water is so relaxing for me I was born and raised in Port auor Texas right on the coast and so we were always on the water and then when I moved down to the Florida Keys I started fishing and just loving good job there you go I like the fact he's starting to let his hair back and let people see that there is a personality behind the mad scientist that took his team to championships stretch it out stretch it out I remember him telling me when he first got to Miami he said Michael we're going to do things a little bit different he had a style which you don't find in sports leaders who care about how they're perceived he had I mean he was just soaked in I don't give a the ear of confidence that hey look I don't care where we play you at you know we could play you in the parking lot we're going to kick your butt give it your all play Hurricane football there's only one way we know how to play the game they did a lot of winning and they did it with more Swagger than anybody before that you know he wanted us to be smart he didn't want to take any penalties but basically he was giving us free reign to dance and jump around and point fingers college football I mean that's amateurism that's manicured campus Lawns that's cheerleader sis bomba and in walks a team that would tell you they were going to kick your ass would then kick your ass and then would remind you afterward that they had kicked your ass you know the pen states were beating you and shaking your hand we were beating your buty like you make sure you tell everybody you just got beat by you we wanted you to Echo the whooping and people accuse me of running up the score Miami keeps chucking at that end zone I would think this would be a good time for Jimmy Johnson to show a little compassion here this game's over with we would substitute players we put in our backups but we didn't allow our guys to let up against anybody that we played you play like hurricane you pour it on you don't ever stop until the end of the ball game I remember distinctly Notre Dame t-shirts that called Jimmy Johnson pork faac Satan as if it wasn't merely enough to call him Satan he's got to be porkfish but on top of that he's bork face which is an excellent description incidentally Miami was the team to hate I made no bones about it before the game I said we were the best team the arrogance the Cockiness it built to a crescendo at the Festa B just an attitude of belligerence and hostility and it offended the country and there is Jimmy Johnson in an 11-0 season Miami truly was never threatened Here Comes pressure shaper to throw and he is hit they're going to rule it a fumble and Miami has recovered and the nitty lions in trouble from the beginner we dominated the game the way we ran the football the way our defense played five sacks but we turned it over just simple as that and there it is the Pinn State niy lions are the national champion I was devast stated here we had gone 11 and0 first time in University of Miami's history but because we lost the game we were criticized for the way we were doing things we are dealing with students students first who were athletes second he was always budding heads with Tad foot and intellectuals at Miami who were very uncomfortable with how this team was representing the university but didn't have any problem taking all the money that this program was produced and so he saw the hypocrisy in that if a question is there the 87 K will answer it and so is almost Redemption the next year we went undefeated with a team that wasn't as talented and it all culminated that night against the Sooners we're coming with a different stick it will not be the same thing this time wal again walking the ball Irving is open down and this is history the party has begun in Miami Jimmy had a chip on his shoulder after being so close in ' 86 so I think it was just pure release of emotion look at Jimmy Johnson the demons are gone he's a national championship coach when people throw stones at our football team we all hurt because we are a team and we do care for one another and this makes the hurt a little better than what it was Jimmy's hair is perfect that's one of the wonders of the world in the time I've known him hasn't changed a whole lot but I've only known him 25 years fox has done a good job of squatching this but Green Piece has boycotted the studio two times for the damage that Jimmy is doing to the ozone I use a little spray every now and then but I've been doing it for so long I'm almost required by Fox to have my hair this way I went through the hair growth with Jimmy uh very important part of his life you're just envious uh when he came to witto State he had a crew cut that looked like a porcupine he didn't have the fluff that he's famous for today when I was at University of Arkansas and we were undefeated and won the National Championship uh and I was on the all decade team uh I was an undersized uh very quick try hard type player bonny mmith and Jim Johnson Nail churchich for a foury loss we met of course very young with our initials being the same we uh immediately were roommates on all road trips Jerry's a guy that had money I didn't have anything I was broke when I was in college so we didn't even run in the same circles but you know we develop a friendship I was a freshman coach at University of Arkansas and I got to know him and Jerry and Jimmy Jimmy was smart made plays oh Jimmy tell you how smart he is you know he's bridge player and he was M how you oh yeah 120 well that's not very high well he's 140 I think he's smartest guy I know I got my degree in Psychology and I thought that I was going to be an industrial psychologist and go and work for a company but the defensive coordinator Louisiana Tech had a heart attack they had copied the University of Arkansas's style of defense and they asked if I would go there and just coach for the season Once I got into it I realized coaching it was really just psychology let the mind control the body not the body rolling to mine the key to it Jimmy's career my career his career we're sitting right in Oklahoma people get we won 37 in a row we all grew up together yep we probably can get you that film where he's dressed in drag they dressed like women got in convertible 3:00 in the morning H shaver and Johnson are coming home and uh these two rednecks and pickup pulled up alongside them they they roll down the wi to realize that these two guys were hitting on them now my next run in with is when he was a head coach at Oklahoma I was a head coach at Oklahoma state with a mixture of Brilliance and Good Old Common Sense head coach Jimmy Johnson molded the Cowboys into his kind of football team fun fast and [Applause] fantastic good job I was with Jimmy the day he was offered the Miami job and a whole lot of people tell him not to do it so so I said Jimmy let me ask you a question have you ever beaten U no I said have you ever beaten Nebraska no I said well sooner or later your fans are going to figure that out and I said and by the way can you win a National Championship at Oklahoma State he kind of grinned and I said they just did at Miami Jimmy had a sense of replacing the legend you think about those shoes that he had to fil to replace Howard schnellenberger and win a National Championship and how much more of a tough situation could you have than going into Dallas at replacing Tom Landry the Dallas Cowboys have been sold to oilman Jerry Jones Jimmy Johnson steps into the shadow of a legend former college coach officially takes the place of Tom Landry Tom Landry was not just a football coach he's Mount Rushmore with the hat on and here comes Jimmy with the hair and people were just rolling their eyes everywhere saying what is this guy from Arkansas getting us into this was uh not done to hurt anybody it was not done out of disrespect to anyone all I know is I have a burning desire to be the very best it was a tough start you know they were talking to a group of people that didn't want to hear what they had to say you know it wasn't easy for me to walk away from University of Miami we we lost two regular season games in the last four years so we've kind of enjoyed it down there and and I knew it was going to be somewhat of a controversial situation but I want to be here welcome to Valley Ranch coach it was kind of fun I was a college coach you know and I did things a college way we had offseason program you know we worked year round I go to the wait room and it was an outdoor weight room I said we're all our players how's the body feeling it's not in very good shape of course it's not supposed to be in good shape now too much cheesecake cheesecake and beer yeah mostly beer so it was a culture change for the Cowboys when I first went there be under control keep those head up looking at me looking at me now I got Randy White Hall of Fame player Ed two Tall Jones at the end of his career they're doing like three-man monkey rolls and crab Circle crabs it was our conditioning program and Randy came in he said coach he says I think you're going to do a great job he says but he said I I don't think I can go through this again so we had a retirement party for him but they were bad it may be farfetched but I'm not too sure how Miami teams couldn't have beaten that cowboy team Nick Lowry kicks off for the Chiefs his leg's going to get [Music] tired it was not pretty it was one and 15 the first year and three and six to start the second year one columnist had an artic about how Jimmy and Jerry don't know what they're doing and they're never going to win I mean people were taking pot shots at them left and right this season's gone and you have to wonder when football will be back in Dallas but I give Jimmy a lot of credit he never lost his conviction that he was going to be the best [Music] again I picked up a a few more rods since the last time y are here well you know what it's beautiful sun's coming up great day beat free agency tell you that you're right fix the run so everybody better hold on oh yeah bill and I develop a relationship when he was at Cleveland and I was at Dallas and we made a couple of Trades and then as a byproduct we did a little bit of fishing but he's a cooler on fishing when he's on board we don't catch any fish come on Wahoo just get one Wahoo just please one was good to sit back and relax talk a little football you know it's fishing you got to pass the time a little bit that was the thing on my little chart on the vi characteristics I want for drafting a player my number one thing was hit me in the head with a hammer the next time I take a dumb guy yeah you taught me that well cuz every I mean you can't fix that 90% of your mistakes are with guys that you can't reason with you know well that was one one of my reasonings on when I traded for Charles haly yeah everybody saying well you don't want him he's a problem you know he's a you know you know the assistant coaches can't work with him and all this stuff so I talked to everybody they said you know he's really smart right I said he's really smart well if he's smart I can reason with him yep it's all motivation well you know that's what I told Jason Garrett when Jason got the job people in the past could give a less about Jason Jarett you'd Walk That Hall nobody turn their head now you're the guy everybody in that organization looks at you and they want to be stroked a practice squad player that you go over to and you recognize him when he didn't even know you knew his name right that intern coach that's breaking down film I said everybody in that organization if you're going to be good they all have to be at their best and the only way they're at their best is if you're stroking every one of them and I said that's a hell of a lot more important than those xes are those than one more X right let's go let's go beautiful day in Austin Russ how are you doing today romping stomping raring to go all full of pissing vinegar that hip all right day sore fighting through it though huh let the mind control the body not the body control the mind when it comes to moving men there is no one better than Coach Johnson oh oh Michael two hand don't be cute don't be pretty be good he brought the best out of each guy right there right there get in there Beast nice quickness nice Cut DJ all right Charles all right Charles that's your play all the way now and he always kept the pr Sean he lived in our minds let's go Lynn focus in can you make it got to make it got to make it it's on your shoulders he just had this amazing ability I was the third string quarterback on the practice roster in 1992 I used to always throw on the Third Field you know Troy Aman and Steve Berlin those guys are with the action of practice Hey Garrett go down there you're throwing to The Backs I'm I'm 300 yd away from the action I felt like his eyes were right in the back of my head and I think all of our team felt that way there were like six Jimmy Johnson's out on the practice field you know I'll let you do that I always told our players I said I'm going to be very consistent I'm going to treat every one of you differently I said how I treat you is according to how you are on this scale I said if you work hard you do everything that we ask and you're a good player you're at the top of the scale if you don't work hard if you don't do what I ask you to do and you're not a good player you're at the bottom of the scale and I said that's how I treat you and so with John roer a backup linebacker one day we're in special teams meeting I look back there and old John is he's sleeping and I'm saying what in the world is going on we're getting ready to play San Francisco big ball game I said John evidently you're not getting enough sleep and I cut him and he never played another down at football and that's a shame well somebody asked me and said well what if Troy Aman would have been asleep i' said simple I would have walked back there and I'd have said Troy wake up and i' going back to my seat Jimmy was great at bluffing players I don't know of any great when he ran off but he kept him scared the stories are legendary him waving the kicker with asthma sending him off to the asthma field as he cut him son are you part of this group asthma M get over there on that other field and have some asthma get out of here but while players were coming in and out that first season Jimmy was quick to point out almost on a weekly basis that he had just signed a 10-year contract so he was not going anywhere oh said well they wanted us to be kind of reading this thing okay all right hey that boy looks [ __ ] I hope he can run back no he looks good I was the general manager and Jimmy was the coach certainly he had spent all that time in football and understood what a football player looked like better than I did at the same time I was a good Trader that's what I did for a living and that's how I bought the Cowboys you know he's in the old business so they were great marriage because Jerry is a gambler and Jimmy is a huge Gambler I mean the Hershel Walker tray was incredible I told our staff I said the way this league works if we just take our picks as they fall it's going to be a long time before we get good what do we have that somebody else wants they say we only got one player and no player in the entire league has gained more yardage the past two years than hersel in exchange for Walker Dallas will receive a number one draft pick plus six conditional draft choices over the next three years including two first round picks three second round picks and one third round pick I remember the reaction at the time what's wrong with this college Co coach crazy person Hershel could be on his way to the Super Bowl while the Cowboys could be on their way to the toilet bowl but he was the Visionary who saw very clearly the draft picks are where I'll find Value and people say well you know that was a jump start but back then the Los Angeles Rams they had a similar type deal with Eric Dickerson when they traded him the key is not getting the picks the key is picking good players with the picks Dallas selects EMT Smith running back from Florida har it's up in the air and it's caught there's haly hit him and picked off in the air Jimmy Jones intercepts for a touchdown to build that into the dynasty that it was his eye for talent was a huge difference and it really changed the course of that organization if you went through the year virtually injury-free and did not make the playoffs would that be a crushing blow it won't happen you know we'll be in the playoff hey I don't know nothing about Co Johns I just found out that guy have um aquariums in his house I just found out he had a girlfriend I thought a guy was still married ronda's Rhonda's what Jimmy needs um you know Jimmy's a strong personality ronda's a stronger personality he gets like could you do this you do it you do it so much better I'm going yeah right don't you use that psycho crap on Me Rhonda she's good she'll bring me down a few notches he's not allowed to hold a paintbrush if you see him with a tool don't tell him I said that you know she's been styling my hair for about 20 years that's how we first met she cut my hair they're best friends and they like to laugh they like to have a good time and in Florida Keys you can do a lot of that once Troy and Jason Garrett were here and we were across the street at this restaurant and they have they have the singer standing there and it's loud the music was getting a little bit loud and I'm asking him these questions and we're trying to have this back and forth and finally he just said enough brinc comes up with this idea he could pay the guy to to stop playing for a while we' love it but we'd like to talk for an hour here's 200 bucks shut up you know just like that again great leadership understanding what what the conversation needed and and and took care of the environment that's Jimmy the older he gets the funnier he gets the more inviting he gets we're off to see the wizard oh please the fisherman Jimmy is laid back and you know taking his time whereas coaching there's blinders and and there's really no getting in there come on let's go keep your head keep your head in the ball game let's go losing is unacceptable unacceptable all we got to do is contain he wasn't even happy just winning by three always push for more more and more and more that get out there grind on them now there wasn't a minute that I was around him in the two years that I played for him that I and everyone on our football team didn't know who the head coach was you know I think there's a misconception about football people think that football is for tough guys you know tough guys bull football re rewards the guys that are in great condition that's when you have fun when you're kicking somebody's ass and they're sucking for win there was a great coach one time says fatigue makes cowards of us all what if I walked up you and said you're a coward you're a coward you wouldn't like it would you but but that's the reality of it when you're tired you make mistakes you don't do what's right and you're will to win all of a sudden starts to waver just a little bit you get tired and all of a sudden you don't have that same fight fatigue makes cowards of us all all of us me included I guarantee you when I was on that damn TV show and I hadn't had any sleep and I hadn't had any food and bugs are biting on my ass I wasn't a big tough guy I'm saying what the hell am I doing here fatigue makes cowards of us all if you're in great shape if you can run like a deer at the end of the ball game you're gonna be smiling having fun and let me tell you something guys this is going to be the greatest time of your life I used to sit in this same ass room I'd look at the schedule and I say God look can't wait till Oklahoma comes in here I can't wait till Florida comes in here I want to kick their ass and that's what you should feel this is why you came to Miami that's why you wanted to be a hurricane but you can only do it if you're in great shape and if you're not sucking for win at the end of the game and when you look across the way and that guy is hanging down he is a coward he's a coward but because he's tired don't be tired good afternoon everybody and welcome to Super Bowl 27 I promise you he's a SE that Super Bowl say listen Buffalo's good we're going to have a fight we're going to have a fight through that first quarter but we'll get them and then they'll start turning the ball over and we'll pour it on and when you're seeing it and it start saw his work he said oh my God and the turnovers are telling the story Buffalo they're a sloppy team they're talented but they're sloppy they turn it over that's why we're going to [Music] win what a ride it's been Jimmy Johnson's taking his team from the absolute worst to the absolute best in four years and Dallas your Cowboys are the champions come here they were great together I mean but you know a stage is only so big and it just uh couldn't hold them both I saw it unravel don't remember the game but Prince bandar was the ambassador to Saudi Arabia yeah Saudi Arabia and a real good friend of Jerry's well Jimmy had a rule that he didn't want anybody coming in the dressing room till he got through with his talk to the team and Jerry comes right on in there with a prince and when he does boy Jimmy cut his eyes over later on Jimmy stormed in the Jerry suet they get face to face and going at each other about Jimmy had Ru people T night coming in the dress room and Jerry said he had a rule too he owned the team and uh you know and I had to Trump another R I had I had to separate seriously it really was heated that's when I knew there was a crack in the dam two in a row baby two in a row How Sweet It Is Coach Johnson your team has a knack for coming to the White House the decade is not even half over and they they've already won two Super Bowls there's no telling what this team can do it's young it's aggressive and it has great leadership I've said so many times to him God it's just a shame that you and Jerry couldn't have put your egos aside cuz I saw a run like the Steelers had in the 7s of Super Bowls I think everybody's kind of gotten a kick out of uh Jimmy and Jerry and thinking that we were at each other throat uh when you win these kind of things the only thing you're going to do at each other's throat is hug it it goes back to our original ation with Jerry and I I can remember it like it was yesterday he said Jimmy he says we're going to go back to back he says you're going to handle all the football I'm going to handle all the financial and we'll make Sports history but we started having some problems one of them for instance I traded for Tony Casas I turned on the television about 10 minutes later and Jerry's doing a press conference and said you know I I traded for Tony ciss and then I'm thinking he didn't trade for Tony Cassis I trade for Tony Cassis and maybe it's splitting hairs a little bit maybe it is a little bit of ego but I told Jer that's what bothers me and he told me Jimmy I can make $10 million and nobody cares and it's amazing how much they care about that backup offensive guard he said I want to be part of that I want to be having some fun and I understand I mean that's the way it was but that's when it started happening do you respect his football knowledge yeah I I respect Jerry's football knowledge as an owner and as somebody that loves the game but you don't respect him as an equal to you in terms of football knowledge and judgment I I you know I know um because I have spent 30 years you know learning what I know right now Jimmy wants credit and he deserved it but Jerry just wanted uh you know someone to act like he on the team that's all Jimmy would had to do they're so headstrong both of them they rub one another the wrong way very often and when Johnson said he was intrigued about the possibility of Jacksonville Jones told me I had the reddest neck in all of Dallas well I was really annoyed because we ran a big chance of having this thing go off track in the middle of the Season you know Jerry said for instance that hey if somebody Came Calling he should say hey I'm not interested it's very very easy not to be interested when you own the Dallas Cowboys and you have multi multi multi multi-millions of dollars Jimmy always knew what he's doing he always knew exactly what he was doing he figured out how to get Jerry to fire him uh I'm not kidding you I don't care what Jimmy says I Believe Jimmy had a plan to get run off and so I think what happened at the owner's meeting Jimmy was looking for the door and he's looking for Jerry to open the door and at the owner's meeting he opened the door we're sitting at at a table with oh U people that Jerry had fired he didn't see the fired guys he saw Norv and wanstead and Jimmy and he went to toast them and Jimmy kind of gave it a look kind of like what are you doing and it made Jerry mad Jerry said you guys and left and I didn't think anything about it and I got up the next morning and the headlines in the paper was 500 coaches could coach his team to a Super Bowl and I said hey it's not going to work in order for them to go on from here we have mutually decided that I would no longer be the head football coach with the Dallas Cowboys was devastating devastating you have any reaction to what's happened out there Mel as blessed and as fortunate as we've been when I'm with Troy to this day we still talk about we should have at least five rings yeah I'm I'm disappointed that we didn't get a chance to really exhaust that relationship and find out how great could it have been and I don't think Jimmy spends a moment thinking about it I really don't we've gone through a little transition here and uh well maybe it's a big transition I was shocked even though I knew Jimmy had a plan I knew Jerry was tired of it uh I just didn't think they would do it I was a lot more shocked when he hired Switzer and now Jones has left himself to lead the players and settle the fans and Jerry takes a lot of grief for me leaving and he shouldn't I was leaving it got to where it wasn't fun for me I was hard on our team after winning the first Super Bowl I was harder I had to be the bad guy because people get complacent he's said that a number of times to me that he was tired of being the bad guy which I guess that was a little bit of a shock to me because he was so good at it you know I mean it it it seemed like he really enjoyed being the bad guy but it's been since I've gotten to know him that that's not him seen 110 take 23 since I left coaching I haven't missed that grind at all who needs it let's get it Loose get your butt up a little bit good no more kissing owner's butt no more watching big naked hair guys walk around my office now there's just me a bucket of beer and the beach when Coach Johnson left we tried our best to kind of get it going again we went to the NFC championship game in '94 and eventually won the Super Bowl again under coach Switzer in 95 but we were Never As Good As we were during the years under Jimmy Johnson and that's what I think we we should do and I still believe that we will yes sir Mr President back on the president's question and answer session is expected to continue for a few more minutes but right now we're going to interrupt our coverage of the news conference to cover another big story right here in South Florida a very big story Jimmy Johnson is now the head coach of the Miami Dolphins Johnson sealed the deal late this afternoon when he signed his contract when you've had the president of the United States who I guess was on I'm sorry whatever station that is uh but when three different presidents grabbed my hand and said congratulations Jimmy you were part of the very very best that gave me a special special feeling and and I want that feeling again the big reason I took Miami was number one I wanted to live here and number two danam marino marino fires into the end zone touchdown dolphin face stop over there with the comination I ain't never been part of this where you can take it down F that bad nice job nice job I felt having a veteran quarterback if I could Shore up the defense might give us a run at it but Dan was at the end of his career he had a bunch of injuries and we were turning the ball over a bunch quick SL intercepted picked off by Collins Dan Marino is God in Miami and I don't think Jimmy could will his offense there he never got the running game he wanted 2.2 yd a carry come on I think it was a loss cause it was disappointing because we didn't win a championship but we're in the playoffs three straight years we won a couple of playoff games so we did okay but for me that was disappointing the thing that resonates from Jimmy Johnson's entire tenure here is that he found life perspective here first and 10 and you saw the look on Jimmy Johnson's face Jimmy's mother alen at the age of 77 passed away last night in Port Arthur Texas I really have a very very difficult time with someone passing I don't wanted to cross my mind that they're not here anymore sorry to hear bug from M when my mother passed away I flew to the funeral and I went and saw her in the casket and uh uh that was hard they very hard and so when daddy passed away I wouldn't even look at him in the casket uh it's something I have a difficult time dealing with to that point he very rarely said even I love you to his sons and at his mother's funeral his son saw for the first time their strong willful father broken I mean they were holding him up at the funeral the whole time my two sons growing up I was so wrapped up in trying to win football games I didn't see him play I wasn't there at home very often and so when my mother passed away I realized how little time i' had spent with my own family and I think that's when I realized that I wasn't going to coach anymore well this time it's final and forever so I am retiring from coaching I've had my time in the sun I I've had my time in the spotlight uh now I want to have my time with my family coaching to these guys is like a heroin addiction they all come back all of them I mean Pat Riley Bill parcel's no matter how much success you've had you come back and not only did he not come back despite offers there's been no temptation what time are you at when you're by yourself in the morning whenever my eyes open I I'll go out there and see the sunrise you know and probably not put any lines out tell about daylight he certainly sits on gilin island but don't you call him gilin you call him Godfather it used to be a quarterback driven League now that's the only thing yeah I mean some of the r changes have helped them too oh my God I mean the receivers aren't intimidated to go across the field they know they're not going to get the big hit the Defenders are intimidated yeah they're afraid to hit them they're afraid to hit them they don't get fine that's right there not many guys who understand what bill belich is going through after as much success as he's had trying to draft players and resign guys and hold things together and you know Jimmy's one of those few guys that does everybody comes to The Godfather I do have this month I got uh bellich coming in uh Shawn Peyton's coming in and nor Turner's coming in it's not just football coaches that come visit him it's actors who come visit him it's the San Antonio Spurs Fergie the black ey p and that's Fergy's dad right next to him baseball Executives have flown their entire da down picking his brain about running a business running a sports franchise I mean I can't think of too many other coaches like that that were successful at all three levels as a player as a college coach and as a pro coach that's pretty rare hey kimy we just got Ace T what are you doing got bellich Che here trying to get him a wahoo he's still awfully competitive the last couple of times we've been there the Seas have been rough and no one's really wanted to fish except Jimmy and I have a long history of of having problems being out in the sea but till the end of my life coach Johnson is my coach he's the big coach so I tried everything I stayed outside I went inside I went up to the top it just got worse and worse and worse and finally I threw up I'm saying Jimmy look at these people they're sick for crying out loud and well yeah I'd hate to not catch a fish I said nobody cares if we catch a fish all right we just want to get off the boat I mean we could care less about the fish and it just killed him to have to turn around and go back to to shore without fish so he's still awfully competitive I'm Jimmy Johnson no not the race car driver I'm the better looking Jimmy since I recently became the spokesperson for extends everywhere I go guys ask me if extends really works I'm here to tell you extends works for me Jimmy's a capitalist uh oh there's been a lot of talk about it like I said Jimmy's at a great point in his life when he understands how important time is and he doesn't want to waste a minute of it and he really doesn't care what you think and we all need to get to that point as quickly as we possibly [Music] can Wayne hingo talked about it he says qtl quality time left it making difference how much money you have or all the material things you have can you really enjoy it once you get to a certain age and so that kind of hit me there a bring the fish up there you go in his case I've accomplished what I wanted to accomplish I'm not looking at my trophies going well there was a day I did that and I enjoyed it I was a really good coach one of the best maybe the best if you keep talking long enough I'll convince you I was the best but I'm done with that and now I'm a really good fisherman see he's been on Survivor so it's kind of you have a little bit of an advantage if we run into trouble what do I need fuel for the boat some bait cold beer every now and then I still got my health got my wife got my family I want to enjoy those people I want to enjoy life that's my legacy
