getting set for kickoff here in baltimore and the ravens have made a big lineup change today for more on that we send it down to chris fisher thanks andrew looking to boost their 26th ranked rushing attack john harbaugh has elected to start terence west for the first time in running back this season justin forsett who's led the ravens and each of the past two seasons and rushing yards has been inactivated first round pick ronnie stanley will also be on that list he'll miss today's game with a foot injury and on the other side of the ball outside linebacker elvis schumerville will see his first game action of the season returning from off-season foot surgery and doomerville will see the field soon because baltimore won the toss and they have elected to defer so the raiders will get the football first steve tasker mentioned it justin tucker this week named the special teams player of the month for september in the afc nine for nine on field goals so far this year including the game-winning 54-yarder last week against the jacksonville jaguars it was a treat in pre-game as we watched both these kickers warm up you got sebastian janikowski with his leg and justin tucker with his leg tucker was hitting from literally it was hitting from 65 yards both directions it's going to be a treat if this game goes very close late in the game a short kick jalen richard comes up to make the catch and richard up across the 25-yard line and brought down at the 29-yard line so that'll bring out derrick carr five touchdowns one interception so far this season for the third year man out of fresno state and he has been hot on the road he's won four of his last five road starts and this is gonna be a game both these teams pride themselves on their physicality jack del rio spoke to us yesterday there is going to be a physical confrontation that takes place tomorrow latavius murray out first down and the ravens ready to stop the run a gain of one on that play for latavius murray zachary orr leading the charge as we take a look at the raiders offensive line kalechi osimeli making his return to baltimore played his first four years with the ravens and you just saw latavius murray three rushing touchdowns this season for murray you know and he's gonna be featured a lot more today jack del rio and bill munster said they really believe they match up well against this ravens defense it's been pretty stout all year against the run out of the shotgun his first pass of the day is complete cooper and cooper lunges ahead to the 35-yard line it will be third down cj mosley makes the tackle the baltimore defense led by timmy jernigan with three sacks the third-year man out of florida state terrell suggs also with three sacks and eric weddle in addition he's fit for this baltimore defense and he's here in the background eric weddle who solidified the back end of this defense the crowd gives a big roar for elvis schumer as he makes his triumphant return here to baltimore first game of the season for dreamerville ready to go on this third down in four play carr gets it out quickly incomplete looking for michael crabtree and the ravens defense forces a three and out i think that's a little bit of nerves on derek carr's part a quick throw he threw it before michael crabtree was ready he really wasn't under a lot of pressure although baltimore was coming with extra people he had time to let crabtree get out of that break just wasn't ready to make the catch [Applause] marquette king who had a 72-yard punt last week the longest raider punt in five years boots this one away to devin hester senior who calls for a fair catch at the 18-yard line joe flacco will lead the baltimore offense out for its first possession three touchdowns four interceptions this season for flacco and last week 21 straight completions a franchise record second longest streak within one game in nfl history mark brunell and david carr derek's older brother had 22 in a row [Applause] as chris fisher reported terence west starting at running back justin forsett is inactive for a baltimore first down all 11 of wallace's receptions this year have gone for a first down as we take a look at the baltimore offensive line they do have a change up front ronnie stanley inactive at left tackle because of a foot injury so james hurst will start and west starting at running back west last rushing touchdown he was playing for cleveland against this baltimore team and west decides to get a yard this is a coach's decision for john harbaugh benching justin he's a healthy scratch and he just has not run the ball well in the first three games well they changed their philosophy running wise and they're into a little bit less of the wide zone runs which four set is so good at it now look at this formation right here they've got offensive lineman split out and west takes it up the middle and he is up ended there is a penalty flag down reggie nelson coming up to make the tackle on west and now we'll hear from ed hochuli for the first time holding offense number 53 10-yard penalty from the previous spot repeat second down yeah you know they're trying you know they're desperate to run the football when they run a formation with the split out hey look i mean this is you don't see this and that and no question it's a little bit of a gimmick but hey if it gets you a nice run do it you've got to do something to take the pressure off the passing game for baltimore i i tell you i didn't see much of a hold there at all on uh center jeremy zuta i didn't see it i don't know what they said 53 right yeah wow looked like he grabbed a hold of justin ellis on that replay just the third time zhuto has been penalized for holding as a raven and this raiders defense led by corey james snuffs out west it'll be third down as we take a closer look at the raiders d khalil max still waiting for his first sack of this season so corey james make that tackle getting his second start the rookie at colorado state and reggie nelson he's seen the ravens a time or two with his days with the bengals yeah big unrestricted free agent signing by the raiders by general manner manager reggie mcelroy been a valuable guy this year already is open and he makes the catch a flag has come in this is going to go against baltimore as well aiken pushed off or one of the defenders ended up on the ground because of it or at least that's what the officials seem to see offense or pass interference number 11. there was a pushoff 10-yard penalty from the previous spot repeat third down so that wipes out a 24 yard gain and a first down by the ravens gonna happen right here as aiken comes up to the middle of the field working there against dj hayden and he just bowls him over and i think that's a good call by the official i think so as well and i have to correct myself i i gave inadvertent credit to somebody else reggie mckenzie is the general manager for the raiders and former teammate of mine i called him reggie mcelroy you're watching too much ryder cup the last couple days third and 28 a screen pass to use from colbert breaks the tackle and gets across to 30 but penalties set back the ravens on this first drive go ahead steve says it's a shame this is a little screen passes mark tressman often supported wanting to get a big chunk of that yardage back playing the field position game no doubt the right call for that situation backed up in your own end zone with a lot of negative things happening but right there the ravens were their own worst enemy several big plays fall back through the not-so-smart penalties dances his way across the 25 and down the sideline to the 31-yard line 10 23 to go opening quarter raiders going back on offense we're scoreless in baltimore [Music] be the first to know your team's news with the cbs sports app get instant updates expert analysis highlights and more download the cbs sports app today raiders went three and out on their first drive derek carr the raiders offense back out on the field they'll have it first and ten from the 31. octavius murray in a running back on first down to cooper makes the catch and he is dragged down by charisse right good tackle by the sixth year corner out of usc one of the fun things about our job is we get to speak to both coaching staffs and players at length before the game and it was fun for us to hear the raiders say listen we think our offensive line matches up with these guys we can run the football on them and then to hear the ravens talk about their defense say we think they think they can run off we don't think they're going to be able to and to hear these guys talk the same about each other they study each other at length it's going to be fun to watch this running game it's hurry on second and seven and again zachary orr who leads the team and tackles brings down murray it will be third down for the raiders zachary quite a story so far the undrafted man out of north texas only first-year starter on the ravens defense one of the things that this ravens defense is always known for is physical style of play year in and year out they are very difficult to run on but the raiders will be committed to it today third and four right now zoomerville back out on the field for the ravens carr steps up throws on the run it completes good coverage downfield by jimmy smith and once again the baltimore defense forces a three and out well one of the things that's kind of evident to me right now and derek carr is always excellent as far as getting rid of the football not taking sacks but right now he's not under any real pressure right there he can run away from elvis boomerville and give his teammates a little bit more time to get open i think he's a little bit overly concerned today about the pressure from the baltimore ravens hester lets this one bounce and it bounces out of bounds inside the 10. marquette king leads the nfl and punts inside the 10. there's another the nfl on cbs is sponsored by southwest yes to low fares with nothing to hide that's transparency [Music] verizon welcome to verizon lte advanced the next-gen network and by toyota let's go places [Music] back in baltimore and how about marquette king the raiders punter after that 55-yard boot at midfield the ray lewis dance on the raven at midfield have a little fun with it backs up baltimore to start this drive at the seven yard line flacco to the air has plenty of time now scrambles a flag comes in from the secondary and flacco takes a hit from darius latham and we'll see what the penalty is this is going to go against sean smith with the raiders the question was that they're going to call it a little contact but was flacco out of the pocket it was close it was very close and that's going to be the judgment of ed hoculey holding defense number 21 before the pass was thrown five-yard penalty automatic first down it is on sean smith who had his first interception of the season last week in tennessee and you can bet sean smith is going to get a lot of attention from this raven passing attack mike wallace coming out and tries to get by him yeah it was early in the round he's wide open too first penalty against the raiders gives baltimore a bit of breathing room on first and ten flacco back to the air quick slant caught by wallace he picks up eight yards well the ravens have been going no huddle uh so far today trying to get a little tempo on the raiders right here a good quick decision nice throw by joe flacco one thing we haven't seen and the ravens try to do this early in every game has established steve smith senior as we see right there jumping offsides the left guard brian jensen for the baltimore ball start offense number 66 five yard penalty second down let's go back to new york and update with jb and clark scott a sustained drive by buffalo tyretel is going to find shady mccoy for the seven yard score buffalo up 7-0 in the first quarter 12 plays 65-yard drive back to andrew catalan all right jb thank you the ravens came in with the third fewest penalty yards in the nfl but so far in this opening quarter three penalties for 25 yards flacco gets rid of it to pitta and not much doing on that play as the rookie carl joseph comes up to make the tackle yeah it's obvious early in the early going david amerson is going to sit on steve smith senior and make sure he doesn't hurt this raider defense and they're going to leave sean smith and that guy carl joseph for everybody else third down and four with 7 40 to go in the opening quarter and that pass is caught by aitkin and he is taken down short of a first down dj on the coverage for the raiders one of the things that was killing the raiders the first two weeks of the season was mental assignments jack del rio calling it i what did he call it high violations but right now the raiders look very very disciplined there are not a lot of holes in the defense they're letting the pass completions take place up underneath them and then coming up and making a tackle very disciplined so far today although helped significantly by the penalties against the ravens sam cook's first punt went 56 yards here's his second punt another good one to richard drives him back to the 20. and rashad is talking at the 24-yard line the rookie chris moore makes the tackle after a 59-yard punt from sam cook thursday your weekend starts here when the cardinals tackle the niners it's thursday night football on cbs nfl network and twitter [Music] third possession for the raiders their first two drives three and outs only 12 yards of offense so far deandre washington now and running back and movement on the right side of the line this is a false start against the world stars offense number 86 five yard penalty it's first down on the tight end elise smith we met with raiders offensive coordinator bill musgrave each of the last two weeks and his message to his team we want to start fast we want to give our defense the opportunity to play with the lead we think that would help our defense which really struggled the first two games well last week they did get out to a big lead against tennessee defense played well musgrave telling us yesterday imperative to get off to another fast start they have not done that in their first two drives it's rashad running back now on first and 15 car to seth roberts a flag is down roberts is tackled at the 25-yard line well they're going to call amari cooper for some kind of a hold or illegal block on the outside i believe i don't know if i don't know if i agree with that it was a screenshot of scrimmage the raiders don't really understand it either pass interference offense number 89 was blocking downfield before the pass was touched 10-yard penalty repeat first down they're saying he was down the football field but he was but it doesn't matter when the ball is touched the ball's in the air he's like well he's wow that's that's uh that's the way you coach it up yeah i don't know that's the way you know 32 teams the nfl doing everything i wish that was a no call from i think that should have been a no call raiders the most penalized team in the nfl [Applause] and it's now first and 25 for oakland [Applause] screen pass to washington and washington tackled at the 17-yard line by terrell suggs ander you you mentioned about the penalties go ahead steve test we're looking at this play real quick well you'll see yeah this is this is what's going to happen he's going to come out and then 66 gonna come he's going to try and get a block and it's not going to work what's the athleticism here the linebacker just sidesteps the big block which would have been the key block if he could make it but the athleticism of the linebackers he spoke about it in the open that's just zach orr making a play zomberville's on the field appears to be just playing on passing downs of course the raiders running here with richard back to new york another nfl today update with jb and mark scott a red hot rock osweiler brock osweiler is locked in as he drops back surveys to phil and he's going to find ryan griffin for the 45 yard reception the very next play will fuller takes it in for the five yard score goose is up 14-0 early back to andrew catalan guys thank you crowd on its feet here in baltimore third down and 11 for the raiders [Applause] carr steps up and fires complete for a first down there is a penalty flag back at the line of scrimmage amari cooper on the catch will it stand wow they ca if they if this stands this is a first in 25 and the raiders pick it up on the three downs that's that's impressive but we'll see what the penalty is before the pass was thrown holding defense number 54. that penalty is declined the play results in a first down well you know you've arrived when the other team we spoke to terrell suggs on friday and he acknowledged that derek carr is going to have some success against us that's how good they are the ravens know how good this offense is and if you look at the other end once again zach or in the middle of it just right before just getting they got there a little late but that's the penalty that's impressive on the first and 25. first first down today for oakland to the 40-yard line picks up three yards you know what else was impressive on that last play third and long baltimore came with six guys came with pressure and no one got near derrick carr and bill musgrave told us he likes to try and crack the code of defensive coordinators that's the term he used dean p's the coordinator for the baltimore ravens bill musgrave said he is a very very tough code to crack but they feel good about what to expect in those situations [Applause] the car with five on the plate clock takes the snap dumps it down to his tight end walford who was thrown down at the 54 at the 45-yard line yeah one of the interesting things about this is you see these good coaches that have success one of the reasons they have success is they understand what their opponent does is brilliant at understanding what rules the offensive linemen follow when they're trying to protect the quarterback and then getting them to follow those rules and having it cost them a sack raven's opponents this season on third and one are just one for three it's third and one here for oakland ready [Applause] up the middle and the ravens defense again with a third and one stop that is an impressive total for baltimore opponents now one for four on third and one and that that is not luck that is that is knowing how to play in a situational football what you're talking third and one it comes to who owns who dominates that line of scrimmage the ravens very very very successful every single time yeah michael pearson brandon williams got off on the snap david derrick carr just couldn't use the snap count to give him an edge pierce and williams were in the backfield and got penetration right and they it's like they knew the snap count and that i think that's what derek carr has to do next time they get into a third and short is play with the snap count a little more you can't let him get that big a jump jack del rio sends out his punt team on fourth and one with 250 to go in the opening quarter esther back deep marquette king trying to punt vaulted uh put baltimore backed up once again and another beauty inside the 10 by king marquette king his second punt today downed inside the 10. [Music] the nfl on cbs is sponsored by geico 15 minutes could save you 15 or more on car insurance and by bud light beer with your team on it [Music] raiders fans always travel well speaking of traveling the oakland raiders in just over nine days 10 000 miles in the air round trip oakland to nashville round trip again from oakland to baltimore and so in nine days the raiders have traveled more than seven teams will travel the entire season this is a baltimore an oakland team that has a lot of travel this year second most in the league behind the reds on first down terence west is crushed by corey james wow so the ravens trying to jump start their running attack have three carries for three yards the other point on that travel andrew they have back to back games in florida against the dolphins and the buccaneers later in the season and jack del rio because of that is going to keep the team in florida between those games so they don't have to make that extra cross-country trip jaguars in the jaguar i'm sorry they're going to stay down there and not go back as flacco trying to go to the air in trouble out of the pocket and just throws this one away back to new york and i felt today update jb and mark scott kirk cousins her cousin has found the rhythm he's 10-11 for 70 yards he's going to find jordan reed for a second touchdown of the day nine yards washington 14-0 27 seconds left in the first back to andrew catalon and guys the redskins come just up the road to baltimore next week baltimore hosts washington it is third down for the ravens they're o for two on third downs in the opening quarter flacco throws broken up good coverage on the play by dj hayden yeah this pass defense for the raiders has really stepped up in the last couple of weeks they got a lot better when they inserted carl joseph and one of the reasons is not that he's covering guys but they're getting lined up and actually everybody's covering somebody because in the first two weeks against the against the saints and the falcons they had opponents receivers running wide open with drop coverages everywhere it was a real problem they seem to have shored up his own end zone and richard fields it at the 46 gets away from aitkin in the baltimore territory at the 30. cuts it back into 25 richard trying to beat cook to the end zone and cup makes the tackle a 47-yard return by jalen richard on a punt that was partially deflected by the raiders special teams unit well you make that first guy miss as a punt return the rest is just picking your spot and what a great great run by richard cook does a nice job what he's supposed to do he's the last line of defense and that's all you can do as a punter it's not his fault this is a bunch of guys that took themselves out of the play because they got on different levels in coverage [Applause] 47-yard punt 47-yard return first and goal for oakland carl rolling right throwing end zone diving catch caught touchdown seth roberts [Applause] third touchdown this season for seth roberts and when roberts catches a touchdown in his career oakland's 7-0 i like the first down call by bill musgrave offensive coordinator what a great ball by derrick carr this is the raiders team that is now eight for nine with coming away from the red zone with touchdowns that is top two in the league maybe number one now depending on how how it all plays out indianapolis was number one coming into this week but eight out of nine touchdowns in the red zone that is impressive roberts caught the game-winning touchdown last year in week two against baltimore the uh the raiders now 24 straight red zone scores including field goals it's the longest active streak and janikowski with the extra points carr touchdown pass number six on the season seven nothing raiders on monday the ravens hosted their first place 60 festival of the season over 300 children from various baltimore after school programs were led through football drills and other activities in 2015 the ravens play 60 initiatives impacted more than 14 000 youth throughout greater baltimore nfl plays 60 the nfl's movement for a more active generation encourages fans to get moving and play for 60 minutes every day learn how you can join the nfl play 60 movement at nfl.com play 60. raiders jump out to a 7-0 lead on the touchdown catch from seth roberts the eighth of his career and janikowski will kick it away devin hester senior back deep for baltimore esther from eight yards deep we'll take this one out and hester's still gone to 40. janikowski makes sure he goes out of bounds well with the new rule we haven't seen a lot of returners taking it out that deep in the end zone but hester is a different story well the reason he's here is this ability right here to pick his spot run through the traffic he's the best guy who's ever done it 20 career touchdowns and kickoffs are extremely dangerous and as there's a you know you just see the guy his vision and his speed and his ability to keep his balance through that traffic is what has made him one of the you know almost a historic figure in special teams lore that ball was eight yards deep in the end zone two he had no hesitation well a 60-yard return for hester he's now over 7 000 yards in terms of kick return yards the 12th man in nfl history to go over 7 000 good field position for the ravens and they hand it off to mike wallace trying to get to the outside they're pursued by mack steve tasker i know you love this but really this first quarter has been dictated by special teams marquette king pinning the ravens deep that forced cook to punt out of his own end zone the big return from richard and now hester with the return setting up the ravens with good field position well good teams hit on all cylinders and that means special teams as well and you get you've got some and i say it not lightly historic figures in this game the kickers and devin hester i mean those are mount rushmore guys on on a special team javaris allen gets the call gets to the 40-yard line on that note though at andrew and steve talking to both jack del rio and john harbaugh john harbaugh is a special teams coach by trade that's that's what he did before he became a head coach jack del rio knows he's got to be prepared special teams they both from the get-go said special teams are going to be significant in this game final 20 seconds of the first quarter baltimore facing the third and three flacco completes it escapes from senior smith has a first down and dragged down from behind by sean smith but not before a gain of 17. well we said earlier that david emerson was following steve smith senior round well the rate ravens got steve smith on sean smith and they paid the price that's the end of the first oakland lead seven nothing we're back to baltimore after these messages you're watching the nfl on cbs one quarter in the books in baltimore and there's been more return yards than total yards of offense a 7-0 raiders lead but baltimore driving here to start the second quarter with steve berlin steve tasker and chris fischer i'm andrew catalan our entire nfl on cbs crew as javaris he's got the catch at the 18 and we go down to chris fisher thank you andrew jack del rio credits learning under brian bilick as the ravens linebacker coach as the type of culture he's trying to bring in oakland he wants to have a fiery feisty and physical title defense jack del rio learned alongside a pretty impressive bill of coaching tree that featured marvin lewis rex ryan and mike smith who helped guide baltimore to super bowl 35. del rio part of the staff that won that super bowl with the ravens it's second down in five kamar aiken joe flacco told us friday he wants to get eight get more involved in the offense here bronco checks down to allen and allen has a baltimore first down dj hayden makes the tackle but with only three catches in the first three games he was such a big part of this ravens offense last year so look for flacco to get the ball to aiken a little bit more today good job by flacco right there being patient not trying to force the ball up the field he knew it was second down and five take what's in front of you make the raiders come up and make the tackle but in the meantime pick up that first down eight completions to six different receivers for flacco it's first and ten from the 11 yard line flacco back to the air this one's caught by smith and smith is dragged out by the rookie corey james good job by james otherwise smith could have busted that one into the end zone yeah steve steve smith senior is a tackle breaking machine he is so strong i mean we were talking with him on friday he's my height but this is not very tight i was not ver i was not that strong i mean the guy that's why he's been able to play for so long he's verging on a thousand receptions he was almost undrafted and you know the guy's just a phenomenal player second down at five empty backfield placo look at your turn for wallace it completes it was david emerson on the coverage who pro football focus has rated as the number one cornerback in the nfl so far this year and last week his pro football focus grade of 97.9 out of 100 is the best of any player at any position so far this season and i think at this point given that guys in the secondary for the raiders this is where their lack of ability to run the football really hurts the ravens max williams second year tight end up at the top of your screen on third and five o'clock throwing in zone incomplete looking for smith again but there's a flag down at the line of scrimmage and this is going to be a hold against the ravens khalil mack almost got to flacco and i think that's who drew the holding penalty holding offense number 74. the penalty has declined brings up fourth down it's on the left tackle james hurst who's starting today for the injured rookie ronnie stanley watch khalil mack right there is going to go up and under is he's going to spin out oh no he just gets the edge and he was burst just had him across the body pulled him down across the basement you know uh jack del rio on khalil mack we see a little confusion by the ravens right now they're missing somebody on the field but jack del rio told us that khalil mack even though the numbers aren't there this year he is impacting games right there's a great example so justin tucker who's made 16 field goals in a row he's nine for nine this year he's out to attempt a 24-yard field goal to put the ravens on the board [Music] [Applause] [Music] with nfl game pass watch the games you missed with condensed games in 45 minutes or the full broadcast version start a free trial today at nfl.com game pass so the baltimore ravens still struggling to punch the ball in the end zone they have just four touchdowns this season and 25 of their drives and with a field goal that's the second highest in the nfl behind the washington redskins richard on the kick return already has at the 18-yard line we go back to new york jb and bart scott cleveland ground attack don't let the record for you this this cleveland browns team has a lot of fight in him and isaiah crowell is going to fight in for two yards out to narrow the gap washington leads 14-7 andrew steve steve and chris full house here thank you jb here's ed hoculey after the play was over personal foul unnecessary roughness by baltimore number 87 15 yards first down todd the tight end max williams [Applause] a little bit of a flop no question but hey all's fair he did it four penalties for 40 yards against baltimore in the first half the longest raider play from scrimmage so far is 13 yards let's see what they do here look at latavius murray looks like a cfl game with where [Applause] this play was doomed from the start car checked out of this after he sent latavius murray over to washington dc offense number 74. 10-yard penalty repeat first down it's on the rookie right tackle vidal alexander this is the chess game that goes on in nfl though you're going to see the hold here watch vidal alexander number 74 on the right of your screen but the chess match before that play eric weddle was up at the line of scrimmage he was coming on a blitz derrick carr changed the play to a good play against that look and then eric weddle checked out of it and they got the raiders in a bad play deandre washington the running back next to call takes the hand off the middle and tackled at the 25 yard line by cj mosley well that's the early going here in the second quarter where both these teams knew the run game for the raiders was going to be the point of contention the ravens are getting the better of it raiders have just 14 yards rushing the ravens with 10 yards rushing [Applause] [Music] washington and he's wrapped up by zachary orr [Applause] eric whittle had something really interesting to say about derek carr he said he could be so frustrating because he takes what the defense gives wendell said that any quarterback in the nfl can find their first option but what do they do when that first option is not there carr is really starting to establish himself as a great decision maker in just his third year let's see what he decides to do here on third at 19. i think it's going to be pretty conservative by offensive coordinator bill musgrave here carr gets rid of it and it's incomplete off the hands of jalen richard and out comes marquette king now you wonder why jaylen richard can back up and catch a punt coming out of the end he can't catch a pass that's right on his face mask and this is something that plagues the raiders a little bit plagued them last week in the tennessee game but that's a pass you got to catch i'm not saying it would have been a first down but every little bit helps that john harbaugh told us in our meeting every single yard is worth fighting for esther at the 27-yard line with 1101 to go in the first half raiders lead 7-3 the nfl on cbs is sponsored by dodge domestic not domesticated state far talk to an agent today at 800 state farm and by mcdonald's i'm loving it back in baltimore derek carr and the raiders offense with their third three and out of the half that matches their total for the first three games of the season oakland's just 56 yards of offense so far in this game baltimore with first down at ten the handoff to terence west and he's got some room on the right side terence west finally dragged down at the 47 after a gain of 20. [Applause] well blocked up front right off the right side it's gonna come right through here that's a great job up front by the offensive line rick wagner the right tackle accepting the rush and pushing it high and outside so west had a nice lane to run and bounce it out longest play by either team today and flacco goes right back to west who turns those legs close to midfield this is the first game that west has started since the season finale of the 2014 season when he played against the ravens he was a member of the cleveland browns at that time five carries 26 yards for terence west again if you're just joining us justin forsett inactive today a healthy scratch by john harbaugh as he tries to jump start this rushing offense that is 26th in the nfl there is four set watching from the sideline drago quick pass his sixth round pick at a colorado state continues to impress for jack del rio's defense you're gonna see corey james right at the right hand side of your screen just beats the blockers out there number 71 ricky wagner the right tackle for baltimore was assigned to get that block but corey james sniffed it out in his athletic ability to get there close that gap pretty impressive puts baltimore into third and long it's third down at nine incomplete fans looking for a flag and they get it it looked like malcolm smith may have held dennis pitta over the middle [Applause] malcolm smith coming over from seattle he started some of the time in seattle he's a full-time starter here pass interference defense number 53 the ball is placed at the spot of the foul automatic first down and that's a crusher of a penalty for the raiders defense you get him into a third and 10. right there look back behind it and that's at the end it was fine earlier before that was not fine gives baltimore a first down a fleet flicker flacco trying to go deep instead underneath to smith and it's incomplete and flacco took a huge hit right on that play from khalil mack very fortunate not to be hurt watch right here at the top of the screen khalil matt comes in and he gets around the edge comes up inside and the hit he puts on flacco right there with a full head of steam your big quarterback he's big and strong but he can't take many hits like that he felt the pressure as well that's why he didn't step into that throw second at 10. to the rookie chris moore and we go back to new york and develop today update jp mark scott terrell pryor says just play me in the words of clubber lane cleveland's got a lot of mo fight that is as cody kessler finds terrell pryor for the nine yard scorer cleveland 14 unacid all knotted up back to andrew catalon all right a good one not too far away from here in baltimore as we have 8 30 to go in the first half it's third and four for the ravens they're one for five on third downs today and javarez allen could not bring that in but a penalty flag is down close to midfield the ravens cannot block khalil mack that's what's going on right now he got held holding offense number 74. 10 yard penalty 53rd down they're going to take the penalty because that'd be within the very edge of justin tucker's range another one on james hurst right there he ends up just beating james hurst he goes outside and then uses that swim move and comes back underneath and hearst is just overmatched right now he is having a big problem you even had help inside from ryan jensen but khalil mack strong enough to rip right through it the raiders accept the penalty making it third down and 14. [Applause] protection good this time flacco incomplete looking for steve smith senior dj hayden on the coverage and john harbaugh sends out his punt unit once again i mean i get back to that one good run on that drive they couldn't muster another one i think you know baltimore's got to stay committed to it particularly in a tight ball game like this you're down seven points you've got to stay with the run game but just get away from i think tj carey the return man for the raiders lets it bounce and goes into the end zone akin was down there but could not doubt it 809 to go second quarter oakland on top seven three four continues later today on fox and then tonight with sunday night football on nbc and tune in tomorrow for monday night football on espn 809 to go first half raiders lead the ravens seven to three you see there elvis dumerville and terrell suggs on the sidelines to start this drive ravens rotate their linebackers terrell suggs told us friday it's really helped him stay fresh for late games as murray gets the call on first down how about derek carr is 35 games in the books now and as we look at his comparison with his older brother david carr they both have the same record through 35 career games 12 and 23 but look at the sacks david carr was sacked 50 more times than derek in his first 35 games told that stat to derrick on the same old man poor guy as he completes this one smith and jimmy smith on the tackles like smith's slow to get up smith that could have been bad he hit yeah it's not it's not he never saw that coming never saw it coming he's gonna try and make it off under his own power but that was how about derek carr helping carry him off what what a teammate derek carr is you don't see a lot of quarterbacks do that well even eric weddle talked about their car and his leadership and the kind of person he is on and off the football field this is not pretty just both knees could have had problems both with the right one landed funny well jimmy smith i mean lee smith is a big dude i mean he's 6'5 250 and jimmy smith you got to take those guys on somehow but yeah that's unfortunate that that is that's an unfortunate play it's not i don't think it wasn't dirty or or cheaper by any stretch of the imagination it's just unfortunate third down and five [Music] michael crabtree picks up 16 and gives the raiders a first down a lot of pressure up front here you got eric weddle sitting right here in the middle but they're coming with six guys and again the raiders offensive line does a nice job of giving derek carr a pocket to throw that ball and the raiders go go huddle handing it gets to the off line 16 of crabtree's 20 catches this year have gone for a first down yeah this is where bill musgrave offensive coordinator of the raiders is doing something going no hard on his keeping the run game involved brilliant and immediately you can see this offense start to find itself and it caught the ravens defense a little off guard now the raiders are getting some momentum and it starts with the no huddle quick pace and keeping it balanced run and pass bill musgrave really really doing a nice job carr is three for three on this drive as we approach six minutes to go in the first half [Applause] now of time dumps it down with murray and albert mcclellan makes the tackle cj mosley helps them out but good protection by this raiders offensive line carr said that if they get mad when he gets a fingernail dirty they like protecting him so much well you talked about eric weddle earlier making the comments about how derek carr goes through his progressions right there great example of understanding the situation first down he wanted to go down the field it wasn't there he came off had a nice simple completion for a four yard gain that's smart football from derrick carr richard bottom of your screen has great speed matched up with the linebacker mosley [Applause] raider fans here in baltimore an 11-yard pickup jimmy smith makes the tackle yeah and i think this is a function of the pace the raiders are deciding to go to they're not hurrying but they are going no huddle and when you can get amari cooper one on one on a crossing route it's tough to defend that particularly with his great speed and car's ability to put it right on the money it's an easy completion it turns into a first down car is five for five on the drive for 39 yards pitches this one to washington washington tackles washington down the sideline and finally inside the 10 it was largarious who would be able to take him down not before a gain of 28. it's first of goal oakland well cedaria smith had a shot at him in the backfield you'll see number 90 right there let's slip the tackle deandre washington the fifth round draft choice big run for the raiders and again no huddle they race to the ride on first car what a drive by the oakland raiders that is a great throw by derrick carr great play call great drive great throw michael crabtree and derek carr on the same page you saw the cornerback right there sitting on the outside it was a very difficult in my opinion a very difficult decision to throw that ball because the corner had position but derek carr knew michael crabtree would win to that back pylon that was sharice right the corner second touchdown of the season for crabtree second of the game for derek carr and here's janikowski for the extra point on that drive derek carr six for six for 44 yards a ransom no huddle gave the ravens a lot of trouble crabtree gives oakland a 14-3 lead overcast day in baltimore and the raiders so far in control of this one leading at 14-3 after a nine play 80 yard drive you see the numbers from carr on that drive six of six for 44 yards car this game is 13 out of 16. and now janikowski will kick it away to hester with 409 to go in the first half chester will return this one already has a 60-yard return not this time good coverage downfield as we go back to that last drive by the raiders uh it was a it was a thing of beauty dear raiders fan right there derek carr standing in the pocket making a nice throw to crabtree then deandre washington taking a long run down the sidelines and punctuated by the touchdown pass over the top to michael bradford that tempo for raiders you talked about it steve tasker they were no huddle they were dictated to the baltimore ravens defense and really got some rhythm going on in that drive first five drives raiders at 56 yards that drive went for 80. first content pressure coming and he gets rid of it it was bruce irvin and flacco didn't throw that one irvin would have sent him to the turf let's go down to chris fisher raiders tight end lee smith has been taken back to their locker room for further evaluations team physicians were checking his ankle on the bench they have had to take him back and cart him off his return is questionable with a right ankle injury and chris the raiders this season have only dressed two tight ends but for this game they did dress a third tight end in michael rivera first time this year rivera has been active so fortunate for jack del rio as oakland has called timeout that's their first of the half with 402 to go in the second quarter tomorrow on cbs the geniuses are back don't miss the two-hour season premiere of the hit drama scorpion tomorrow at 9 8 central only cbs all right guys ravens have only had four touchdowns this whole season again their offenses held to check what does baltimore need to do to jumpstart this offense this offense has struggled as you said andrew's not only scoring touchdown just in general finding the rhythm and you could sense the frustration in joe flacco when we talked to him on friday but they believe they're a good offense they believe they're going to get it going right now would be a good time to get it started they just have not found any rhythm smith senior is tripped up close to the 20-yard line malcolm smith you can say what you want about this offense but joe flacco is you can say what top flight quarterback elite quarterback super bowl winning quarterback certainly but they've got to give him some help right now he drops back far too much he throws the football far too much his weapons outside they just don't give their offense enough flexibility and without a running game they're going to continue to have to throw the football more than they should in this defense because of that can say that they're predictable ravens one for six on third down slackle off his back down the sideline broken up sean smith on the coverage for the raiders and what happens also steve tasker andrew when a team knows you're one dimensional you're throwing the football your quarterback takes the beating as joe flacco did on this play as well a nice play by sean smith going up for that ball but joe flacco pressure immediately in his face and he's getting taken down on almost every play that was bruce irvin on that one tj carrey from his own 24-yard line carry ahead of steve across the 40 into the 43 with 305 to go in the second quarter coming up on the verizon halftime report join jb tony bart boomer and coach cower for all the latest nfl scores and highlights as well as a preview of thursday night football on cbs the nfl network it's all coming up on the verizon halftime report you talk about being one dimensional steve tasker for the ravens offensively joe flacco has thrown 20 passes in this first half they've only run the ball seven times including one by mike wallace raiders get the ball back they have two timeouts in a good field position to start this drive [Applause] that's the third catch for crabtree he has at least three catches in consecutive games yeah now the raiders for whatever reason bear they kind of go into a muddle huddle where they do huddle up and they take the pace that they had on that last drive off the table cuddle up and settle in for a little bit of a four-minute type offense now washington and running back trying good job of containing the running back washington and brent urban comes over to make the tackle as we approach the two-minute warning it seems as though the raiders are perfectly content to let the two-minute warning arrive [Applause] it will be third down when we come back two-minute warning first half in baltimore winners lead 14-3 [Music] joe flacco hoping to get the ball back on offense before halftime he needs his defense to come up with a stop elvis dumerville playing in his first game of the year after offseason foot surgery is on the field for this third down and six oakland two for six on third downs [Applause] and this is going to be a hold against the raiders terrell suggs was held by donald penn [Applause] holding offense number 74. 10-yard penalty third down actually caught on alexander the right tackle penn was mixing it up with suggs in the backfield one of the things about this raider offensive line they are big they're very big and they're very physical but they aren't that athletic and when you get holding penalties a lot of times as you see alexander just kind of latches on to dumerville they get caught reaching and that's when the holding penalties have tough matchup for the rookie alexander making his first nfl start against drewmerville it's now third and 16. they hand it off to rousshaw he has a [Applause] [Music] with 143 to go so the ravens will get the ball back before halftime well there's no secret here the raiders just want to get a big chunk of it back force the ravens to use that timeout as john harbaugh just did there's no way they thought they were going to get a first down with a running play there but that's the design of the play and the strategy involved here in the last two minutes force him to use a timeout and then punch the football deep i want to go back to the previous play the third down run by derrick carr this is not something jack del rio wants to see his starting quarterback the guy he's counting on to be there for 16 games diving head first for a first down i know people respect it teammates respect it but you got to know the situation you know i don't mind fighting for the extra yard but you don't want to take that kind of a hit at the end of a play yeah i get that steve berlin but i think hey in that situation that's exactly the spot you want him to try and get that first down at the end of the half give yourself a chance to maybe really put this game on ice here even in late in the first half by going up more but that's the kind i get what you're saying but he did the right thing i think in that situation you got to get that first down i've been in a lot of quarterback rooms and i know what bill musgrave is gonna tell when they're looking at that film hey we love the effort we love the passion don't take that hit marquette 51 yards per punt in the first half so the ravens will get the ball back with two timeouts in 137 on the clock don't forget coming up with the verizon halftime report jb tony bart boomer and coach bill cower of all the latest nfl scores and highlights as well as a preview of thursday night football on cbs in the nfl network it's all coming up on the verizon look at halftime possession chart for the ravens not pretty five punts and a field goal let's see what they can do here and that one was is incomplete hands and then sean smith helped knock it out you know we talked about the number of passes the ravens team is throwing right now already 21 passes for joe flacco he's gone this 18 consecutive games with at least 30 passes that's the longest streak in the nfl and one that joe flacco would love to end very quickly he could find a way doesn't look that way with 21 already back to the air caught by steve smith senior trying to get out of bounds he can't and the clock continues to tick this is a situation where the raiders could use a timeout john harbaugh's got his hands in his pocket he's not going to call a timeout now and that's the right move now jack del rio [Applause] [Music] and he's got a baltimore first down yeah now john harbaugh's back in the mix he calls a quick timeout after the first down and how quickly things change so he knows how important it is to get some kind of momentum going into the break a nice throwing catch right there from joe flacco to rashad fairman john harbaugh knows we got to get at least a field goal out of this drive to go in feeling good about things ravens do get the ball to start the second half and as steve tasker mentioned off the top of our broadcast they have an excellent kicker in justin tucker his long this year is 54. take a look at the last 10 pass attempts for flacco 5 out of 10 for just 26 yards to get the ravens struggling to get big chunk plays down the field the pass again he cannot get out of balance good tackle by david emerson continues to tick as his game winds down in his first half with emerson standing there you've got to kick her on the sidelines and justin tucker who was kicking it from 65 in the pre-game at the 45-yard line first down for baltimore well i'll tell you what joe flacco took a shot again look at the move khalil mack off the right side of your screen puts on you can't really see it there he threw a spin move at ricky walker the right tackle and then drill joel watch right here see that spin move you can't really coach that steve tasker i mean that was a heck of a move joe flacco is getting sick of seeing number 52. yeah guys like you can't even dream of that move let alone draw it up that's that's why the guy had 15 sacks last year and that's why teams have spent a lot of time making sure he's not able to be one-on-one with anybody and that's why joe flacco is an elite quarterback too he stood in there and delivered a strike under that kind of pressure baltimore called its final timeout so no timeouts left for the ravens they have it first and ten with 37 seconds to go [Music] [Music] already will spike it with 18 seconds left now that gives them enough time for a couple of shots at the end zone if they so desire and even right now on this down this second down play after the spike they even have a chance really to use the middle of the field if they want to really go for one and try and get a broken tackle like they did right here they could do this play again if they if they want and give steve smith a chance to break a tackle and get in the end zone that was the raiders of old on defense there to a breakdown they had a complete breakdown on a zone cover that was the fifth catch for smith he's got 49 yards nearly intercepted by the rookie joseph dangerous throw by joe flacco right there he actually had steve smith outside behind the cornerback emerson on that one that would have been a safer throw i think the safety obviously right there had a chance to make the play carl joseph didn't come down with it but that was a dangerous shot at the end zone by joe flacco you can see jihad ward making sure flacco's not comfortable that's he's taking a lot of shots today especially on this drive and remember now he's only nine months out from acl surgery ravens cannot use the middle of the field here although risk not getting tucker on the field for a field goal flacco again looking excellent for wallace in complete and once again bruce irvin was in the backfield and now justin tucker will come out with eight seconds to go well this this truly was i think joe flacco just saying you know what i i don't want something i'm having trouble blocking them up front i don't want to take a sack have something bad happen that didn't get the coverage they wanted he just said i'm throwing it away bringing our all-world kicker out here he's made 17 in a row this one is from 43 yards tucker is good again with three seconds to go he makes it a 14-6 ball game and again the ravens get the ball to start the second half that was huge i mean sure you'd like to come away with seven points no doubt about that but to get a field goal to end the first half and now john harper as you said andrew going to go in in the locker room and say hey we had a good drive there we get the ball to start the second half we're right back in this ball game joe flacco has been under pressure today 30 drop backs he's been hurried seven times knocked down four times and so far this year under pressure joe flacco has the second worst quarterback rating of any qb in the nfl only brock osweiler has been worse when pressured this year well you can imagine the conversation that's going to take place in the raiders locker room at halftime they're going to look at each other and say listen we're going to put flacco down and we're going to put him down hard you know if they're going to drop back 60 times in this game flacco's gonna be on his back for 30 times in the second half they're going to come after him and that's going to be their plan 29 pass attempts in the first half by flacco just seven runs we'll expect to see the raiders just take a knee and go into the locker room for the 14-6 lead you know john harbaugh was telling us one of his ideas for a rule change that would have been one point right there by justin tucker he he's always kind of thinking about ways you can improve the game he said why don't they just if a kicker kicks the ball through the go uprights why don't we make that worth a point you sat there and thought about that that'd be a pretty cool little way to make the that kick a little more something carr takes a knee and baltimore will receive the second half kickoff [Applause] raiders trying to start 3-0 on the road for the first time since 2 000 car with two touchdown passes in the first half one to roberts one to crabtree and chris fisher is with jack del rio thanks andrew jack do you feel like you guys need to get more pressure on general flacco considering how effective you've been at getting here and stopping and running i'm sorry i couldn't hear you that's okay do you feel like you need to get after flacco more in the second half we'll continue to get after we're playing good defense we're playing good good team ball well all three phases need to continue to play well derek carr has been efficient in the first half do you need to get your rushing attack going yeah we want to look we want to do everything that we can a little bit better uh i think derek's operating just fine you know we we gave him this last couple a field goal here by uh by by blowing a couple things defensively that we have the whole first half we gotta get back to being really sound and solid and get after him as he holds it the sacks will come along with some of the missed holding calls thanks coach andrew and a little shot out the door by jack del rio his team has a 14-6 lead at the half we'll be back with the verizon halftime report after this message and award from your local station you're watching the nfl on cbs one half in the books in baltimore and the raiders have a 14-6 lead on the ravens let's take a look at the first half highlight presented by direct tv derek carr hooking up with michael crabtree for his second touchdown of the half and michael crabtree and the raiders have an eight-point lead back in the booth with steve berlin and steve tasker i'm andrew catalan chris fisher down in the field credit the raiders defense they played well in that first half however what must the ravens do offensively to get this offense going well i don't know where you start but you build off of what happened right at the end of the first half they put a drive together got three points on the board whatever adjustments mark treston's gonna make they have to start quick on this first drive of the second half they get the ball i think they need to come out and get that run established initially because you are back in the ball game now yeah no question you got to run the football we set it in the open if they're going to get better if they're going to continue to win football games they got to give joe flacco some help if he's going to throw it 60 times a game they will not win hester loses the football but he's able to fall on it hester also last week fumbled but this time baltimore is able to recover it was tj carey who forced the fumble but baltimore will get the ball at the 24-yard line first down and ten with terence west in the backfield five carries 26 yards in the first half for west and he gets a yard here on his first carry of the second half bruce irvin on the tackle well you see him come right out and try and establish the run initially here it's not what they were looking for one yard the raiders real stout that line of scrimmage and a nice tackle preventing any kind of room for west to get up inside [Music] [Music] a gain of 12 for mike wallace and there's nothing wrong with coming out having a couple of runs that are mediocre and then a little kind of semi-fake play action and you get mike wallace on the slant just a couple of runs to give that defense one thought about maybe something else is coming give joe flacco that extra time a quick slam that's an easy completion for a first 30th attempt for flacco that's 19 straight games where he's throwing at least 30 passes the longest active streak in the nfl as west with the carry and then some extra curricular after the whistle well the crowd didn't like it but no big thing crockett gilmore mixing it up just a little bit and that's not what they're talking about suta and jihad ward yeah crockett gilmore who is a mauler as a tight end got after bruce irvin and urbandale appreciate it very much there's two different things that went on there you saw one of them and this you can bet when the game gets tight the fangs come out buck allen now at running back right now swings it to allan out of the backfield cuts back at the 46 and buck allen has a baltimore first down a gain of eight for the second year man out of usc well there's no doubt in my mind that john harbaugh and mark tressman decided they wanted to come out and pound this football in the second half that run right on the first down run before that last play that was a good physical run and gilmore and everybody else up front they're trying to make a statement to the raiders we're bringing it this second half yeah they got they're making a statement because i'm sure john harbaugh made a statement to them at halftime from midfield to west west to the 45 and west with a flag coming in late takes it right to the chains at the 40. let's see what the penalty is holding offense number 53 10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul repeat first down well we heard jack del rio's chris fisher interviewed him after halftime just before halftime and he knew he just said listen they're missing a lot of holding calls we see one here on the first drive in the second half you can bet jack del rio let him know he didn't like what was going on how about jeremy zutow the center in his ravens career he had been penalized for holding twice today he's been penalized for holding two times against the raiders first and 16. push forward to the 45 and a good job offensively by the raiders we're going to see this obviously too in the passing game here in the early in the second half we've talked about how much they threw it in the first half and only broken record but now you're gonna run out of quick drop back throws for joe flacco to make sooner or later he's gonna have to drop back and the raiders are gonna get that pass rush going again now the running game has been prevalent here but now with the holding penalty once again they're forced to have flacco drop back and hold the ball in the pocket ten run plays 32 pass attempts by the ravens they go back to the air taco is chased and flacco just throws it away the pressure came from denico autry who will be third and long for the ravens that's exactly why it is so important for the ravens to stay in positive down and distant situations they're having a lot of problems back you know blocking the raiders front seven when they're in obvious passing situations they can't do it right now so joe flacco lucky to get rid of that football baltimore two for nine on third downs in this game third and 15 from their own 45. [Music] when you can get pressure with four guys defensively your offense is in trouble and right now that's where the baltimore offense is tj carey back deeper way to defend [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] no reason for kamarika to do that it's an easy call it is i mean you just can't do that you can't get that close even though even if he didn't touch him you can't interfere with his ability to make that catch aiken got caught being you know covering that punt really just too well and that yeah you can't do that that's just to even if he doesn't make any contact it's interference with his ability to make that case catch interference number 11 15-yard penalty first down that's a killer penalty in terms of field position raiders would have been backed up in their own end instead they get some breathing room because of the penalty over their first three games the ravens have averaged six penalties for 40 yards today they have seven for 75 including a costly one just now on kumar aiken gives the raiders better field position first and ten from their own 23. carr over the middle to his tight end walford and he dropped it he had one drop last week in the win over the titans and he drops another here speaking of tight ends let's get an injury update from chris fisher thanks andrew raiders tight end lee smith who needed assistance off the field in the second quarter was evaluated in the late raiders locker room team physicians have ruled him out for the rest of the game with a right ankle injury all right a tough one but as we mentioned earlier for the first time this year the raiders did dress a third tight end and michael rivera he's on the field right now for second and ten with the sun shining now in baltimore carr looking deep for crantry incomplete cherise wright on the coverage for the ravens and it's third and ten i'm really surprised eric weddle can get over there to make a hit on that play as well smart that he didn't finish it off after the ball but derek carr was looking that play down the whole way he pumped that way [Applause] you just would think he'd be over there maybe a step earlier to get in on that play [Applause] oakland two for seven on third downs penalty is down and the play is stopped and that's a false start against the raiders false start offense number 74. five yard penalty it's third down tough day continues for the rookie right tackle vidal alexander starting today for the first time in his nfl career because of a calf injury to menolak watson well it's the first time all day that this crowd has been a factor it's hard to hear the snap count and the ravens will bring in some pressure and alexander just couldn't keep himself from flinching to richard comes back at yard line a good job defensively by the ravens they've forced the fifth three and out for oakland i think the baltimore ravens are as good as any team in the nfl of breaking down and keeping a play in front of them they know the down and distance situations you see guys is breakdown a lot of purple shirts get into that ball you seldom see them miss tackles or see open lanes for these running backs to shoot through marquette driving lester back to the 15. and andre holmes makes a special teams tackle baltimore going back on offense when we return to charm city [Music] the nfl on cbs is sponsored by southwest yes to low fares with nothing to hide that's transparency dominoes order online at dominos.com and by the new 2017 acura mdx precision crafted performance [Applause] baltimore back on offense they have it first and ten tonight from the 27-yard line back to the air pressure coming from archery and flacco has to get rid of it to nico autry came flying through to put pressure on the ninth year quarterback joe flacco that really is ridiculous first down you're going to see right number 96 just flipping right underneath jensen i mean he didn't even get a hand on him it was not anything fancy the raiders did just was an inside move by autry and he's got a free run at flacco alex lewis who started the first three games at left guard for the ravens was questionable with a concussion he is active but jensen has played the entire game at left guard making his first start of the year breaks a couple tackles and picks up a baltimore first down corey james finally caught up with him after a gain of 12. one of the things you do if you're trying to get your run game going and you're facing some pass rushers is run right at their guy they're going to run right at khalil mack and that's one of the techniques that a lot of offenses do if you're going to take the starch out of a pass rush run it and get physical right at the point of attack with their best guy khalil mack kind of felt the point of the spear on that one and they got a good gain out of it just the 11th run today by baltimore compared to 35 passes back to the ground west again up the middle terence west the football league the ball is loose the raiders indicating they have it the raiders really believe they have it it was loose for a good half a second and no zuta comes away with this oh man i'm telling you that there's nothing worse than the bottom of an nfl pile and a loose ball the strongest cat gets it this the meanest cat gets it this is zootop's biggest play of the game he's been ridiculed or you know caught a couple of times with the holding penalties but to get on top of this ball how many raiders had a shot at getting this ball you see a lot of white shirts in there but zootop comes out with it absolutely huge for the ravens corey james forced the fumble but zooto recovers and it's first down for the ravens was looking deep checks it down [Music] secondary [Applause] before the pass was thrown holding defense number 21. it's a five-yard penalty enforced from the previous spot an automatic first down second penalty today on sean smith tonight the remarkable story of the woman who fought off her terrorist kidnappers and won plus who is in control of the trillions of dollars worth of natural resources in the arctic 60 minutes travels to the top of the world to find out tonight only cbs first the ravens with west the baltimore native to the 34 yards well this is exactly what we were talking about in the first half and really harped on it at halftime steve tasker about the need to get that running game going because it just takes the pressure off of everybody up front trying to protect their quarterback so success in the run game give credit to john harbaugh mark tressman for figuring it out a little bit here 67 yards rushing for terrence west it's second down and five joseph's showing this now he backs off blacko with pressure playing gets rid of it to kill more and more fights his way for a baltimore first down joseph gave the tackle yeah joseph got caught he faked the blitz and then gilmore came in joseph caught a little bit out of position and on that what we call a juke route where hiromo goes in stops comes right back out because of his sort of fake blitz joseph got himself out of position and allowed gilmore to make that catch four first downs on this drive for the ravens pitch it to west and west is able to pick up a couple of yards terence west said so far in the first three games it was really hard for him to get in a groove because he was sharing carries with justin forsett well he's had the bulk of the carries today 12 of the baltimore 14 carries have gone to west and he appears to be feeding off getting the ball no doubt this whole offense i think is getting some confidence they believe up front they're they're wearing down the raiders and we see joe joe flacco with time in the pocket on this drive the previous pass to gilmore he went through three or four progressions before getting back to gilman with two on the play clock looking [Music] there was pressure right away on this he showed his athletic ability big guy that can move and then the ability to move to his left and deliver a strike to crockett gilmore for a big first down gilmore with his second catch of the drive he had two catches in the first three games combined first and ten javar following his blockers and gets close to the 10-yard line look at this raider defense and they were doing nothing but rushing the passer in the first half and now that they have to think about both things they're struggling to stop the run i mean you get the feeling that they were so hyped up to rush the passer and get after joe flacco but they weren't expecting the ravens to stick with this run game and now they're on their heels when they actually had their ears back to go after the passer now they forgot they've got to stay strong in the run game and the ravens are making them pay for it now you saw ken norton jr the raiders defensive coordinator and raiders out of sorts here they call a timeout with 4 48 to go in the third quarter ravens driving they trail by east the ravens have finally gotten their ground game going on this drive with 38 yards rushing they have the ball at the 11 yard line second down and 5. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a healthy scratch watching baltimore trying to punch it in for the first time today this is just the old student body right right there where every offensive lineman is pulling to get outside and get leverage on the edge of that raiders defense very soft for the raiders terrence west great job just taking that ball downhill as soon as he saw his crease if they score is it too early to go for two yes i believe it is too early to go for two and now joe flacco and the ravens call timeout with four minutes to go in the third quarter did not look like the ravens had the right personnel on the field forcing them to burn a timeout tonight on cbs it's the powerful season premiere of madame secretary tayo leone stars in the hit drama tonight after ncis los angeles only cbs how about this no ravens running back has rushed for a touchdown since week 16 of last year 108 consecutive carries by ravens running backs without a touchdown run they do have one rushing touchdown this year but it was from that man joe flacco last week in jacksonville and andrew you asked a good question about the two-point conversion i reconsider i'm looking at the scoreboard at the time i think you do go for two in this situation because you're gonna be within two points if you don't make it a field goal still gives you the win might as well go for the tie as you come to the end of the third quarter [Applause] and it's not rocket science hand it off and push him and try and get a quick snap count and the raiders for the first time in this drive were up to the task they have absolutely disappeared in their run defense that was so well actually good enough in the first half is to let baltimore abandon it and now they get it back in the third quarter and it looks like the open raiders had no answer up until that last play ravens used michael pierce the defensive tackle at pullback on first down he's not out there for [Music] and it's incomplete he was open but black oh and used check could not connect yeah use check a fullback who's used to catching what he's he's got a turn you see him running and he he's got his head back you'd like to see him take a couple more steps hard sprint to the corner before he turns around and you're sitting there steve berlin you're looking at me nodding he had that play wide open flacco couldn't have put more air under it and use check just wasn't running the right direction but flacco was under a little bit of pressure from bruce irvin he should he should have been able to deliver an easier ball to catch but you're right about youth check third and goal flacco keeping everybody on the sidelines that's what he's doing he's pointing at joe flacco and telling him you're the guy they're keeping tucker on the sideline it's fourth and one and it's gut check time if you're a three-and-oh and you want to go 4-0 this is the kind of play that you should be able to get i think we might the referees are stopping the clock here going to give a fresh clock to joe flacco i was going to say that clock was getting down but they stopped in 12 seconds but i was looking for a time out to think about this decision for a little bit this year baltimore one for three on fourth downs they've only scored four touchdowns the entire season a critical fourth down play here with 2 49 to go in the third quarter javaris allen in at running back flacco going to try to do it himself pushing forward second rushing touchdown this year for joe flacco and baltimore keeping its offense on the field they're gonna go for two what a gutsy call by john harbaugh mark treston and coming through i'm gonna tell you right now if i'm playing quarterback and i was in that situation many times i did not like that call i didn't want it put on my shoulders from that situation where i got to power through a team that's looking for the quarterback sneaker well i think too you saw a veteran quarter back there derek carr earlier in the game didn't use the snap count and couldn't get his short yard display joe flacco kind of quick snapped that and used the momentum of the moment to make him not ready for that snap and pushed it in all right here they go for two to try to tie the game flacco looking to go to the air and it's intercepted by sean smith and smith was taken down at the 10. so the ravens not able to cash in on the two-point conversion but they do score their fifth touchdown of the season they pull within two [Music] 2 41 to go third quarter ravens home within two and just like we all expected at the beginning of the season joe flacco leads the ravens and touchdowns this year coming off the tour in acl last year his second rushing touchdown of the year and 15th of flacco's career will take a knee and the raiders will get the ball back at their own 25-yard line their lead has been trimmed to two saturdays cbs is your home for the best game from the best conference when joshua dobbs and the tennessee balls take on trevor knight and the aggies of texas a m the hoopla begins with college football today see if the balls can continue this magical ride how about the calls yesterday from our vern lundqvist another great game in the sec well oakland has been shut off shut out offensively in this half so far with just five yards compared to the ravens with 101 in the third quarter first attempt for the raiders from their own 25-yard line latavius murray at running back and he gets the handoff on first down trying to get to the outside good job defensively by the ravens stacking up murray it'll be second down with two and a half to go in the third and andrew you talked about how the raiders only have five yards coming into this drive they've only had three plays the ravens have done a good job of keeping the ball away from them you keep the ball away from a potent offense that's the best defense you can play and this year the uh ravens have only allowed 10 second half points the whole year tied for the fewest in the nfl along with the philadelphia eagles so their defense has been on its game in the second half this year looking for crabtree miscommunication and completes crabtree is cutting back to the middle of the field carr threw it to the outside and it's third at nine and all of a sudden the raiders offense looks unsure of itself this raven defense john harbaugh dean pease the defensive coordinator they are masters at halftime adjustments that's no accident that they've only given up three points in the fourth quarter of their games this season and ten points overall in the second half that is a coaching staff that's really got it together team ps has elvis tumerville on the field for third down and nine carr out of the shotgun with three on the play clock duverville coming superville forced his car to get rid of it great grab by roberts but he had to go low and he's tackled well short in the first down elvis duberville bringing the heat on derek carr it was eric weddle that really caused the problem so you're gonna see right here there's weddle he's gonna shoot up in the gap and he's the one that flushes flacco to the outside toward dumerville you see weddle was coming untouched that allowed what uh uh dumerville to come off and put the extra pressure on flacco very well executed by the ravens sixth three and out today by the raiders they had three in their first three games and marquette king's punt out of bounds just inside the 25-yard line with 114 to go [Applause] so joe flacco has all of baltimore's rushing touchdowns this season two of them this was last week in jacksonville taking it in for baltimore and then again today on fourth the goal let me ask you a question that i know the answer to which one of those quarterback runs would you rather make skipper flying and kicks the one wide open to the corner yeah there's nothing fun about a quarterback sleep sneak down there is it there isn't i think on that last play we showed the reef i might have called derek carr flacco [Music] for a baltimore first down you're gonna see ben keaney this is one of the guys now when they were struggling defensively heaney's one of the guys they took off the field to make their defense get a little better he gets caught in coverage was hesitant to go out and cover the fullback and as a result gives up the first down and once again the ravens looking good on offense use final 30 seconds at the third quarter west across the 35 to the 37-yard line stacy mcgee makes the tackle and what could be the final play of the quarter that is again that same that's from the shotgun that same student body right kind of toss play that the ravens have been having success this whole second half with it's an attitude play and they are winning the battle right now that is the end of the third quarter we've got a tight one in baltimore the raiders lead by two the nfl on cbs surprise to see these two teams involved in another close game since the start of last year the ravens have played 17 games decided by eight points or fewer oakland tied for the second most with 14 games another two-point game right here and fico's first pass in the fourth quarter is low and it completes joe flacco so far this year has the second worst quarterback rating in the fourth quarter among all quarterbacks in the nfl he's thrown no touchdowns and two interceptions and that is really surprising for a quarterback of joe flacco's experience it just it just talks about how this offense has struggled all year third down and six for baltimore empty backfield and oakland recovers to nico autry recovered after the hit by bruce irvin and the first turnover of the game belongs to the oakland raiders that's just what the raiders needed flacco got flushed out of there but he's got to have awareness of what's coming behind him you see a lot of times quarterback peeking back real quick to see if there's any pressure coming behind him bruce irvin right there he sensed that he smelled the blood and went in there finished it off bruce irvin with his third fourth fumble of the season he had won last week as well in the win over tennessee and now let's see if the raiders can capitalize they have it first and ten at their 20 at the baltimore 29 yard line deandre washington running back cj mosley makes the tackle well it's a nice play by the raiders but washington will learn quick when you're coming out there it's better to make these guys miss that's not making him miss great tackle by moseley we spoke about the athleticism of these linebackers early on that's a good tackle on a good play by the raider offense mosley putting a stop to it [Applause] [Applause] yard shot so it'll be third and short for the raiders deandre washington the rookie fifth round pick [Music] out of texas tech his snaps each week of the season have increased a season high 18 last week in nashville against the titans he's not on the field for this big third down and one as the ravens try to force oakland to kicking a field goal and the fans are sensing the significance of this play [Applause] smith who's in on the tackle as ed hochuli [Applause] converts it looks like they're talking about the defense now that it's a long conversation you start to raise your eyebrows if you're a defender because it's usually cut and dried if it's an offensive penalty and now [Applause] i think the ravens are going to probably decline i think it's going to end up going against the raiders by the looks of it eric weddles looking over the jungle foul yeah and you should decline this during the play personal foul unnecessary roughness offense number 66 15 yards repeat third down now they're trying to get them out of field goal range you got sebastian janikowski who's made more 50 yard field goals than any kicker in the history of the game penalty was on gabe jackson he's the right guard out of mississippi state see jackson got pushed from behind by jernigan on the right side of your stream it happened early in the play huh [Applause] they're starting to talk back and forth now between plays now keep in mind collection assembly is down there on the raiders offensive line the former raven had a lot of things to say this week including he was looking forward to pancake blocking some of his former teammates said there was one coach that he did not like in his time with baltimore said his feelings were hurt when the ravens didn't offer him enough money to stay so he said it would be an emotional game he's kept him in check to this point he's an emotional player and here in the fourth quarter i think this is a dangerous situation for the ravens though i think you should decline the penalty in that situation you're still in sebastian ganikowski's field goal range and what if the raiders make a play here [Applause] third and 16. [Applause] looking for cooper comes back and exactly as steve berlin said if they depending on the spot give them a first down that will be a killer decision by john harbaugh and it is all dependent on the spot even from that long distance it came down just at the stick and this might be even worth a challenge by either team if it goes against them it looked like he was significantly past that 20. that ball luke should be at the 18 18 and a half yard yeah and if i'm jack del rio when you don't get this first down i'm throwing the challenge flag right away but i don't know why you wouldn't keep him in fourth and eight make him kick the field goal instead of giving him a chance i throw the challenge flag right now if i'm jack del rio and he's not gonna do it he's gonna now they're gonna go for it i'd throw a challenge flag i think that was a bad spot by the official i think they got short changed on it i think cooper was well past the 19 or the yeah the 19 yard line is where his behind hits the ground where the ball is i don't know maybe i don't know i don't know if you all you need is an inch well that's what they're going to try to accomplish right here jack del rio keeping his off patch on the field fourth and inches it's all about the snap count you gotta get him off the snap count one for two on fourth downs this year [Applause] latavius [Applause] the ravens were in the neutral zone that derek carr thinks it's against the raven it is against the ravens mosley was in the neutral zone at the end of the line of scrimmage and the offensive lineman made contact as a reaction and that's on the defense [Applause] offside defense number 98 five yard penalty results in the first down i'll tell you that the ravens were shot out of a cannon on that play just a little bit too early right here look there they're in this they're in it there you go right there yeah they they that sucks on brandon williams it's the first defensive penalty today against baltimore and the drive continues for the raiders first and ten from just inside the 15-yard line [Music] terrell suggs has three sacks this year all three in the fourth quarter he's at his legs late in games and the ravens need their defense to try to force open to a field goal here well the raiders as we stated earlier very very good inside the red zone 9 of 10 now on the season coming away with touchdowns three receivers set hurry and running back on second and nine carr gives it to latavius murray is taken down again by terrell suggs as murray lost his helmet [Applause] well i think i think davious murray had a chance to cut this back he ran into the pressure terrell suggs and and the rest of his purple friends but i think there was a cutback laying back to the right behind the center hurry will watch this third down and eight play jalen richard running back [Applause] [Applause] the decision by john harbaugh to accept that penalty comes back to haunt the baltimore ravens well they give crabtree a free release and you can see he knows he's going to get lit up by weddle but carr puts enough on it to give him enough time to flinch and brace for the hit and it turns into the touchdown weddle stays down on it for a moment but he gets up and walks off he's being attended to on the sidelines you knew it was going to happen that's the way those plays are designed give your receiver a chance to catch it and brace for impact because you know it's on the way and weddle didn't disappoint spectacular throw and catch on a tough third and long situation against a great defense you got to tip your hat to derek carr michael crabtree extra point by janikowski makes it a two-possession game 21-12 carr three touchdowns on the day raiders lead 21-12 raiders offense continues to dominate in the red zone 11 trips this year ten touchdowns and they're three for three today esther and it will be a touch back 11 11 to go in the fourth quarter ravens and joe flacco trail by nine [Music] 21-12 raiders lead the ravens and on the touchdown eric weddle got banged up and will have an injury update on widow coming up but right now first of ten from the 25 for baltimore turns west he's got a good day rushing and he gets a couple as we go down to chris fisher thanks andrew i was in the end zone when eric weddle made the hit it was very loud over on the badge team positions just reviewed with him they have now taken him into the locker room after looking over the video on the injury review system they are going to check him for a concussion all right so weddle has left the field into the baltimore locker room second down at eight flacco on the sideline to wallace it'll be third in short couple of interesting decisions in this game by john harbaugh we highlighted the accepted penalty which led to an open touchdown also the decision late third quarter to go for two if they had kicked the extra point there we'd still have a one possession game now it's a nine point game i still agree with going for two in that situation even though it didn't work out his defense is the best defense in the nfl in the second half and they were still close you're gonna have to get a defensive stop anyway third and two and the pass is complete to dennis pitta for a first down you're gonna have to get a defensive stop anyway so you got to go for two to make it a tie ball game i understand now in retrospect you could have got one point to keep it at a one possession game but it was the right call at the time you had to depend on your defense to get a stop and i think most nfl head coaches it's a decision it's a discussion you have to have but most i think at that point would go for two that was just baltimore's third third down conversion first they give it to buck he moves baltimore closer to midfield this is a raiders defense that had only allowed three points in the fourth quarter this year they give up the touchdown to carr and crabtree and now they need their offense to provide a spark down by nine and norton jr the defensive coordinator on the radar sideline pressure coming gets away from urban taking a deep shot down the field and it is incomplete he was looking for mike wallace and sean smith was strived for stride with the wide receiver and a flag now holding down by the line number 66 10 yard penalty repeats second down and that's on ryan jensen the left guard he's been struggling all day ryan jensen yeah you get the feeling every so often this offensive line for baltimore is just holding on by the skin of their teeth and you see their urban coming off the outside gets a swipe at flacco but on the inside you see jensen just won't let him go that was justin ellis that was tied up with jensen the left side of this baltimore offensive line there was questions coming in ronnie stanley the rookie left tackle and number six overall pick not playing today because of a foot injury and alex lewis the rookie would start the first three games at left guard we haven't seen him today it's been jensen he has had a heck of a game today it's the first one that's going to show up in the big stats they keep for defensive lineman he's just been an absolute monster all day today there's nobody on the ravens front line that's been able to block him he's done it with speed he's done it with power he's done it with spins pretty impressive day jack del rio consistently has said the last three weeks we're not worried about max sack total they will come he's still impacting the game he gets his first there now 23. again with pressure completes it to aiken and aiken is taken down by hayden and joseph well short of a first down and baltimore will bring out the punt team can you talk to guys like khalil mack about how they're perceived it's a little frustrating for him you know the guy could make five tackles behind the line of scrimmage but nobody really cares in the run game if he gets one sack it's a great day the numbers are a little skewed in the perceptions it doesn't really tell you 808 to go in the fourth quarter the raiders getting the ball back and they spot that ball going out of bounds in the 28-yard line raiders on top [Music] raven's defense needs a big stand here they will be without eric weddle at the start of this drive we showed you he went into the locker room he evaluated for a concussion kendrick lewis taking his place in safety and car throwing on first down completes for a short game to michael rivera thursday your weekend starts here but the cardinals tackle the niners it's thursday night football on cbs nfl network and twitter first catch of the season for michael rivera seeing extended time today after police smith went out in the first half with an ankle injury now oprah going to try to use some clock inside 7 40 to go [Applause] car doesn't see the play clock that's a terrible job by derek carr he's got to be more aware than that defense five yard penalty is second down there's no excuse for that you run a one-yard play and you have plenty of time to snap the football second down at 14. that was a lack of awareness that that can't happen the quarterback comparison 44 pass attempts today for joe flacco he's been sacked twice that's amazing derek carr only 133 pass yards for three touchdowns penalty makes it second and 14. [Music] nobody just throws it away will be third down good coverage by the raven secondary yeah this is a coverage set car breaks contain and the receivers they just stopped i mean crabtree's trying a little bit but you got to do something really hard for the quarterback when he breaks contain you've got to make yourself available and all the raider receivers turned into spectators and just said yeah and they decided for derek carr that they're going to let him throw that one away they gotta try and continue to get open that's how big plays happen when he go off the page and get open down the field on a broken play raiders broke the huddle late two on the play clock they snap it with one car to incomplete coverage on the play by charisse wright and the ravens defense does its job they force marquette king to come out for an oakland punt now that you could tell you kind of get the feeling the raiders heart just wasn't in that drive yeah there was not a lot of conviction there there was confusion and delay of game penalty yeah i mean that's a team that thinks this game is over [Music] with a nice return there's a flag down on the oakland sideline and this could be actually on either team usually that's the case steve texas usually you get an idea of what it is but over there could be a guy who was pushed out and then blocked out of bounds or he ran out of bounds on his own and it's impossible to tell until they give us an idea now it's going to go on the raiders yeah this somebody ran out of bounds without being blocked a member of the kicking team number 18 went out of bounds on his own that's a five yard penalty will be enforced from the dead ball spot baltimore keeps the ball first down penalties on andre holmes ravens back on offense with 6 38 to go ravens will have good field position to start this drive just 6 38 to go they have two timeouts remaining they'll begin at their own 48-yard line trailing by nine it's steve tasker steve burline and chris fisher our entire crew i'm andrew catalan our crew today includes a homecoming for our car cameraman mike syria into archbishop curley here in baltimore see if the ravens can score some points quickly play action looking for steve smith to the races first touchdown this season for steve smith senior the 77th of his career well we thought we were talking about how upset he looked on the sideline prior to this last series this series getting the ball he looked like a guy that wanted to make a difference what that's one way to do it right there he's unbelievable he is unbelievable just unbelievable you talk about the injury he had a year ago to come back and make a play of that type is just absolutely unbelievable and it's good 6 27 to go ravens still have two timeouts remaining baltimore needed quick points they get it with the speedy steve's fifth senior for six 101 yards receiving for steve smith senior that's his 51st 100 yard game and it breaks a ton in her sixth all time with don maynard and we had a great chat with smith on friday at the ravens practice facility he's closing in on a number of milestones the one that's nearest to his heart is 1 000 catches he came into the day 23 away he's got six catches today he said that one means the most because he would be just the 14th player with 1 000 career catches and he said when he was drafted no one thought he was going to be a good receiver he was drafted as a return man if you look at the list of the 14 on 13 others it's all first round picks steve smith senior is very proud to be closing in on that accomplishment and i'll tell you something else that he's proud of and a lot of people don't know this story i know the guy who rehabbed steve smith in charlotte north carolina during this offseason after a double achilles tear alan tyson was a physical therapist he's a good friend of mine he said that it was one of the worst achilles he's ever seen and he's not sure that many people could have come back from that injury but steve smith's work ethic is what got it done first and ten for the raiders they lead by two 6 27 to go both teams with two timeouts remaining [Applause] oakland starts this drive on the ground with murray and he gets a yard the raiders only have 195 yards of offense today yet derek carr has thrown three touchdown passes two to michael crabtree one to seth roberts one turnover was a joe flacco fumble another tight game both these teams have played a number of close games since the start of last year baltimore with 17 games decided by eight points or less since the start of last season opened up with quilting with a penalty fight now against the raiders [Applause] looks like it might [Applause] looks like there you go holding offense number 74. the right tackle vidal alexander with a tough go in his first nfl start starting in place of the injured metal like watson alexander saying he had his hands up in his face and it looks from the back it looks like it looks like zadaria smith might have done it for a moment but there's the hole there's no question alexander puts the claw on him and holds on and carr just had to throw that away but now with this momentum completely in baltimore's favor you know this defense is going to do something to try and make a play here to win the game fourth penalty today against alexander for 35 yards and the ravens recover the rookie falls on the fumble first turnover today by the raiders well this is the case of a rookie just getting a little careless with the football great play i think that might have been who is that up in there they knocked that ball out there was a big paw that came in from the side it was lawrence the sixth year man out of arizona states there's a lot of ways to make a play to win a ball game and the ravens try and find all of them they've got players all over their roster it's a great culture inside the ravens organization with a lot of great veteran players who prepare the young guys to make plays exactly like that one and right when they needed it a couple of plays have been made that give the ravens a chance to take the lead for the first time for baltimore they started on the ground with west across the 15 and tackled at the 13-yard line open had gone eight straight games without losing a fumble that was a franchise record and we sat with bill musgrave yesterday and said how are you gonna distribute your carries in the fourth quarter with two rookie running backs and he said we're still trying to figure that out well they gave it to the rookie washington and it proves costly as we approach five minutes to go in the fourth quarter [Applause] remember a field goal would give baltimore the lead they're well within justin tucker range but they're trying to think touchdown on second and five back to west to the 10. terence west starting today for the first time since the final game of the 2014 season as baltimore has made justin for set a healthy scratch today they were trying to jump start their run game and they have 108 yards rushing under offensive coordinator mark trussman [Applause] flacco to the air the user [Applause] [Music] [Applause] well if you're looking for where to give credit as to why the ravens are back in this ball game you got to start with the guys that have made plays like usecheck has made several but i think you start with steve smith he is a lightning rod since he took that ball to the end zone in the last series this whole stadium has been energized and the ravens now control their own destiny first and goal for baltimore use check the full back [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the bubble by washington is costly and now baltimore will keep its offense on the field and go for two now the question will the raiders letting him score here you think i don't i don't think so they got it no i don't think so at all i don't think they were letting them score wanting to get the ball back with over three minutes knowing a field goal will win the ball game for him i you know i got a question whether that was in the mind of jack del rio that was a pretty easy run for a score there in a goal-line situation well they've had a lot of runs defensively have the rages that made they made it look really easy for the baltimore ravens here in the second half as much as good as the raider offense looked in the first half it has been a complete flit in the second half credit the ravens coaching staff and their best players for coming through flacco over the middle wallace has it for the two-point conversion and a flag has come in two flags think they're gonna call them for a spike at the playoffs a dead ball foul and another one wow now the significance of the two points now remember with the new p-a-t rule with the ball back that far john harbaugh wants to make if the raiders do end up scoring a touchdown you you want to make them have to make that extra point to win the game janikowski missed one extra point last year seven for seven this year i think this two points gonna count there were two fouls after the try was over both on the offense baltimore one was an unsportsmanlike conduct foul for celebration that foul has declined there was also an unsportsman like taunting foul on number 17. number 17 commits another foul of that category in this game he will be disqualified that 15-yard penalty will be enforced on the kickoff two-point conversion stands penalty on wallace another look now this is right in the back right there spiking it on top of the defender is the penalty baltimore had scored four touchdowns in its first three games combined they've scored twice in the last two minutes and 51 seconds to take the lead over the raiders with 3 36 to go the fumble by washington leading to eight points for baltimore hey guys now that was a significant penalty as we know to have the ball kicked off from the 20-yard line is going to give the raiders probably pretty good field position with enough time on the clock not nearly as much stress if that ball was put 15 yards further richard fields it from the seven he's already got the 25 and richard across the 30 to the 33-yard line so the penalty does prove costly if we go back and take another look at that penalty committed by mike wallace yeah we'll see it again here beautiful play throw and catch but why in the world mike wallace is an eight year vet he knows better than that that's a rookie mistake that's not a veteran mistake and that costs your team ball games in a lot of situations derek carr has six career game-winning drives his offense has the ball at the 34-yard line first and ten they have two timeouts and the two minute warning [Applause] washington not at running back after the fumble on the last drive it's murray carr with todd over the middle and it's caught at midfield by crabtree it's his fifth catch of the day cj mosley makes the tackle after the first down pickup no rush from the raiders hero no panic they know they've got plenty of time they're going through their normal kind of up-tempo program right here but they've got plenty of time for this situation rashard at running back now on first and ten three minutes to go in the fourth [Applause] good quarter car sideline caught again by crabtree and another first down by the raiders a gain of 12. i know it sounds crazy a little bit after the way the raiders offense has not really shown up here in the second half but they're all they're really thinking now you don't want to score too fast because if they score the touchdown and get the extra point a field goal beats them and you don't want to give joe flacco with two timeouts remaining any more time than he can they want to score a touchdown with no time left and they got 253 that's a lot of time to waste if you're the raiders from the baltimore 40-yard line car out of the shotgun baltimore showing pressure [Applause] coming up on the subway post game show join jb tony bard boomer and coach cower they'll have all the latest nfl scores and highlights all coming up on the subway post game show well that's the second time the day that richard has missed the pass in front of derrick carr it seems like he's having trouble when he comes across the middle finding that football and car's putting some zip on it too tough catch for the young running back eric little earlier in the half evaluated for a concussion he's back out on the field for the ravens in his normal safety position four on the play clock [Music] the tight end takes it down to the 22 a gain of 17. this is an absolute rocket shot from derek carr right up the seam on the money before the safety well had a chance to get over there no huddle with 229 to go and two timeouts [Applause] good protection again looking outside complete was a dangerous pass by carr looking once again for his tight end walford who is slow to get up now this is a this is another defensive back that went in low and walford took the brunt of it oakland has already lost one tight end today lee smith out with an ankle injury i i don't like the throw by derek carr in that situation there at all that you're sacrificing the teammate which that's part of the game i understand you got to take a shot but it was first down into double coverage ladarius webb also a little bit shaken up there i'm not i'd be surprised if he's not he has taken off the field right now he's going to be in concussion protocol and his defense webb went tried to go what would normally be waist high on the guy went above the knees and went below the waist but above the knees but that's that's a dangerous play i know it's a football play it's one that the league is trying to kind of legislate out of the game but i don't know how you you do it in the old days webb goes high and tries to knock that ball away but today in today's league you can't do that if they go through the helmet it's a penalty it's a penalty so they have to force to go lower than they used than they used to when we played now ladarius webb you see on the on the raven sideline being attended to by the unc unaffiliated neurotrauma consulted that's what unc stands for and walford walking off under his own power received a nice hand from the fans here in baltimore [Applause] 2 21 to go fourth quarter ravens trying to go 4-0 for just the second time in team history the only other time was 2006. [Applause] michael rivera comes in a tight end to replace wolford his third touchdown of the game oh this crowd is stunned first career three touchdown game for michael crabtree this is a big time throw and catch getting that second oh let's see oh yeah yeah his right foot is down oh what a play what a route by crabtree look at this no question about it no question what a phenomenal drive and finish by the raiders derek carr told us last year we learned how to compete this year we've learned how to finish and now a big extra point janikowski for the lead and it's good janikowski has not missed an extra point this season carr ties a career high with his fourth touchdown of the game there have been three touchdowns in just over the last four minutes and now the raiders with a 28-27 lead on baltimore but ravens getting the ball back with the two-minute warning and two time-outs all they need is a field goal and they have one of the best kickers if not the best kicker in the nfl in justin tucker and they have a super bowl winning quarterback who's in a situation he should be very comfortable with and i think he would be disappointed and so would his head coach john harbaugh if they didn't find a way to make this very interesting janikowski with a low kick bounces at the five here comes devon hester hester is offended that's the former raven brendan trowick making the special teams tackle with 207 to go next sunday the nfl on cbs live and large with doubleheader games jets steelers texans tangled with the vikings and then later the bengals battle the cowboys check your local listings beginning with jb boomer tony coach and mark on the nfl today steve tasker mentioned this earlier but we saw justin tucker connecting in pregame warm-ups from longer than 60 yards he's 11 for 11 on field goals this year [Music] later is not expecting it and west all the way up across the 35 to close to the 40. an 18-yard gain takes us to the two-minute warning what a ball game in baltimore with steve tasker steve berlin chris fisher on andrew cattle on our entire nfl on cbs crew we've got quite a ball game here in baltimore as the ravens try to go to 4-0 they trail by one 159 to go they have two timeouts remaining all they need to do is get in justin tucker field goal range joe flacco with 26 career game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime and keep it on the ground with west and not much doing that time terence west over 100 yards rushing his first 100 yard rushing game since the first game of his career as a cleveland brown he comes out for second down at nine 140 to go crowd is quiet here in baltimore [Applause] by steve smith and take it down immediately once again that's the rookie corey sixth round pick out a colorado state and that's a really nice tackle by corey james and i don't think you'll see the raiders start using any timeouts though to save time until baltimore gets a first down four down territory it's third and four 110 to go from the 45. flacco looking sidelined great catch steve smith senior his eighth catch of the day and that's a baltimore first down but the clock continues to tick and now they actually stopped the clock i think they ruled steve smith out of bounds i saw the referee go up high [Music] the harbaugh right there calling the timeout so john harbaugh that's why the clock stopped electing to use one of his final two timeouts so baltimore has one remaining with 101 to go well from the pre-game warm-up that we saw justin tucker they're five yards from field goal range right now or less tucker hit a 65 yarder going this direction pregame that was halfway up the uprights i mean he launched it so if they get another three or four yards no matter if it it whatever happens on fourth down they're going to attempt the kick that's not what they want though obviously they'd like to make it a little bit easier if they could flacco back to the air and it's dropped the rookie chris moore had it in his hands and it falls incomplete yeah you got to think the raiders should be and no question they don't want to give another yard but if you look back at the pregame the raiders are going to be aware of this they know this from 60. i mean that's that's a long way he hit one from 65 as well so you know they're going to give it a shot his career is 61. he just tosses this one up and nearly intercepted reggie nelson nearly picked it off dangerous play by flacco uh great pressure from the raiders up front right flacco's face but this is a careless throw on his part you saw grab the gut was carl joseph got a hand on if he didn't get a hand on that nelson would have intercepted that ball third down and 10 from midfield from here would be a 68-yard field goal tucker's career wrong came three years ago from 61. very what does john harbaugh do you can't kick it from 68 yards no you can't kick it from 68. you gotta get a first down or the game is over fourth and ten yeah and the raiders know it so what do you if you're the raiders there's a couple of ways you can go one you can send pressure force flacco to throw it right now short and make the tackle short of the first down or you can drop into coverage if i'm the raiders i pressure flacco i bring it with you you've got to get the ball out of his hands with only one timeout left oakland can take a knee if they hold that fourth down pressure coming [Applause] incomplete no flags and that will do it jack del rio and the raiders will win their first three road games for the first time since the 2000 season [Applause] this is an absolutely monumental win for the raiders this young football team as you said when it was a great play by the raider defensive backs it was that was what joe flacco had to do hope that one of his guys could come down with a play but played very well by the defense we've got a player hurt on the field as well right now that was kumar aiken who had a good chance to bring that one in we mentioned earlier that flacco wanted to utilize aitkin in today's game he goes to him on the biggest play of the game but he was not able to come up with the catch that was reggie nelson on the hit that's a rib shot and good to see kamar aiken up but for this raiders team jack del rio he knows the significance of being three and one all three of those wins on the road back east nashville is the furthest west they were so far in these three wins this is a team now that really believes they can go anywhere and win a ballgame well and also going on the road in the nfl's tough enough west coast to east coast and meeting a team that is 3-0 undefeated on the season and pulling out the victory enormous for this for the vibe of this oakland raider team oakland 3-1 it's best start since 2002 that's the year they went to the super bowl subway post game show is coming up eric carr will take one more knee four touchdown passes today for derek carr three to michael crabtree this is an oakland team that uses nine rookies a young team going on the road and they improve to three and one on the year 28-27 is the final score the raiders hand the ravens their first loss of the year it's an oakland team that now goes home for its next two games against san diego and kansas city for steve tasker steve burling chris fisher i'm andrew catalan saying so long from baltimore you've been watching the nfl on cbs coming up the subway post game show we'll take you back to new york for all the scores and highlights all coming up right after this
