*A DISTURBING GEM!?* The Hunchback of Notre Dame | First Time Watching | reaction/review

good day marshmallows and welcome back to the Coco couch we are watching The Hunchback of nutram this movie looks very different to the Disney movies I'm used to the only Impressions I really have of this are the songs I've heard a lot of the songs in this movie going around over the years I've seen Snippets of this movie for quite some time now but without a overall story I haven't been able to put them into context I know uh the voice actor who who plays the villain yes I'm just Keen to see what this one's all about so without further ado let's jump into it oh oh goodness why do I feel like we're going into hell just the vibe toell and say the soul I love the lyrics of this song already they do not ring all by themselves they don't they don't who is this creature h how did he come to be the Hunchback we'll be spotted Hush little one fall frightened Gypsy slid silently under this is such a dark sort of vibe and they gazed up in fear were iron as much Claud of oh boy obviously the villain I've seen this guy before what a horse to purge the world ice and sin Purge the world of sin he saw corruption everywhere except within except within love that gosh man 2D animation's great I love it this is horrible man this makes me feel so sad please give us [Music] Sanctuary hey is she okay a monster oh that's despicable dude what stop cried the arch Deacon I'm sending it back to Hell see there the innocent blood you have spilled she's dead lie to yourself and your minions you never can run from nor hide what you've done the very eyes are look at those eyes mate that's terrifying raise it as your own what but let him live with you in your church right the bell tower perhaps creature May yet prove one day to be of use gosh what a horrible antagonist this is such a long song so many lyrics but they're so good oh well that's 3D animation dang let's go I got goosebumps from this music it's so well well done is this going to be similar to Shrek I don't know I just feel that sense good morning will today be the day you ready to fly I picked a day to fly this would be it it's no surprise this guy's so kind-hearted a nobody wants to be cooped up here forever oh like you horse naughty who's the voice actor captain no your Ser okay so he actually has yeah the Palace of justice is he the guy who voices the guy in Treasure Planet the dog guy I might be wrong it just sounds similar to him Dr is it dubler is that his name 100% that's frollo's place it looks so evil stop he's up wait between lashes the old sting Will D him to the new oh so evil reporting for Duty as ordered sir I expect nothing but the best from a war hero of your caliber my last captain of the Guard was a bit of a disappointment to me bro gypsies their Heathen ways inflame the people's lowest instincts I was summoned from the wars to capture fortune tellers I have been taking care of the gypsies one by one such a Despicable character they have arrived they have a safe haven what are we going to do about it sir oh you make your point quite vividly sir you know quite vividly you're not very subtle his voice Act is really good by the way the way he says things I absolutely despise this character and I think that's a lot of credit to the voice actor I can't get over that though you are deformed gosh oh dude [Music] bro don't make yourself a spectacle once a year we a party here in Rebellion oh that's the uh that's the girl from the start [Music] right so cute [Music] cheers the of who's this little girl's parents just running up and hugging strangers and being lifted up by other people good on you quasi I wonder what his profession's going to be now that he's part of the general public he's going to be very useful I imagine don't you ever migrate oh his friends just stay there alone that was a brilliant film by the way that was just gosh right after finishing that movie it really does feel like a masterpiece honestly like that was just incredible the the spectacle of it all just felt so real to me like the fact it was the music was just so Grand and every like maybe not every song but there was a few of them that would just like they could stand like on their own without the context of the film as just brilliant pieces it's amazing like Hellfire I thought was an incredible song uh you had the one at the start that Quasimoto was singing and the the intro which was just incredible as well my goodness I think as far as the story goes like it was good um but I think I think what stood out in the film was obviously uh the animation uh the setting right the the the whole vibe of the movie I think the story itself like yeah like I've seen it play out in different ways before I think Tangled was pretty similar but I love how much more mature this take on it was it was using uh religious aspects a lot more to convey the message they used um the premise of having a religious leader abusing their power and influence um as well as I guess the delusion that um that he had right pretty much blaming everybody else for his problems not looking within like the lyrics said uh I thought that that was really cool um but I think like as a as a Christian personally I I like I've just seen it play out so many times in movies where there's like some sort of religious leader who's the bad guy it happens every time and uh you know as a as a Christian it's just one of those little things I'm just like like I want to see more examples of characters that are actually um you know real like they actually live by those values and it was nice to see another religious leader like that um like that guy in the church who was really kind-hearted and um stood up to him I thought that that was really important I appreciated it you know it was really nice to see um Quasimoto who was a bit more of a complex character I think the captain was very confident in himself very self assured uh had lots of conviction and he was such a brave guy you know where what I like about Quasimoto is he wasn't necessarily just pure good I think he was very naive and very manipulated right it took convincing for him to do the right thing because his own insecurity and the lies had been told were kind of influencing his decisions he wasn't just immediately going to save someone's life or do the right thing um unless he got over his own problems um which is really and you know it's an interesting uh character I think a lot of people are like that right it's not as easy as just being virtuous and doing the right thing sometimes some things in our own heart are holding us back not necessarily evil um like like uh frolo but just our own insecurities and the way we feel about ourselves can stop us from doing the right thing which is why I really like Quasimoto um but what I like about the captain is you know and what I believe is why um the gypsy girl right why she she fell in love with him is because he was already such a good guy right he didn't have any sort of um problems with uh choosing to do the right thing or not he was just already a brave guy who was like this is wrong why am I doing this and just like you know saved so many people throughout the film uh he was also quite Charming to be fair um but yeah he always he always put other people first and yeah no the the gypsy girl was really really I really liked how empathetic her character was I love that whole song too about wondering whether I gu guess was it was it they praying to Mary or something like that and she was wondering whether Mary was you know ever felt the same way she did I thought that was a really touching touching scene and you could see that Quasimoto felt like they were the same because of that yeah it's just a it's just a really well done version of don't judge a book by its cover and think things aren't always as they seem which I you know I I think that this movie did a brilliant job at conveying that message yeah shares have similar traits to the movies like Shrek Tangled and all that sort of stuff but I think uh for me the biggest thing in this movie was the setting and the music this just incredible um but yeah I
