[Music] hey everybody hi it's Becky from power tools with red.com that's my blog I hope you guys are healthy and well and safe today is April 24th 2020 for you embroiderers out there there is a really really awesome site for embroidery files and I'm sure all of you know about it already but if you don't it is called designs by juju and I love the designs I get from this site she has such neat things out there and I have yet to have one that doesn't stitch out just absolutely fabulous I got him email this morning and it said we have half off of our in the hoop projects so for you new embroidery something that is called in the hoop isn't a file that just stitches down and creates a design and in the hoop if it says ith that means in the hoop and that means it's going to create an entire little project for you in the hoop and those are a lot of fun to do because it they're just they're quick and they're easy and you can get done and within minutes you have a nice little gift or you know something you can put around your house or maybe you need a zipper pouch or a bag or something in the hoop projects are some of my favorite to do I went and the ad said that they have these little mug rugs well you guys know I like to make mug rugs the ones from designs by juju that I found today are really neat and I just did one right here this is some scrap fabric that I had this is a design from pat slim and this is some extra fabric I had left over from a curtain that was hanging in my old sewing room so I cut it up and made a little mug rug today there's a couple of different things that I really like about these particular mug rugs the first thing is their simplicity they just they're not a heavy applique it just has a nice design on it that you can use and you can use any kind of fabric so that's real nice maybe you want these to go into a den maybe you want them to go in a baby's room or or whatever so whatever fabric you choose determines what the style of the mug rug is gonna be another thing I like about these mug rugs is that they're a downloadable file you can get them right now you don't have to wait for a CD or DVD to come in the mail you want to get started on these you can do that real quick so they take about five minutes to stitch out literally you can have a gift in about five minutes all right so I'm going to take you through the process of getting these mug rugs and getting them stitched out let's go to the computer okay so the first thing you want to do is to go to designs by juju dot-com so you can just open a browser window and type in designs by juju com I've been there a lot so it sees it already and what you want to do is click on right here 50% off in the hoop designs this is good through May 4th 2020 so I'm going to click that all in the hoop are marked 50% off and right here the very first thing that they have is the simply quilted mug rug set 1 if you want to take a look at them up close you can you can see there regularly $10 and they're $5 now on sale and it's an instant download so these will all fit in the 5 by 7 hoop and if you have a larger hoop that's okay if you only have a 4 by 4 you're not going to be able to make these but if you've got a 5 by 7 or larger you'll be able to make this you can click on the size and stitch counts if you like and here you can see what the designs are going to look like up close this one tells you that it's a 5 by 7 that it has 5 colors with 4 color stops here's the exact size right there and that's how many stitches are in it so you can see all six of them here very simple and pretty designs so we're gonna click back to take a look at these and purchase them I want to add these to my cart if you just click Add to Cart without logging in you'll get a little notice that says you need to login I've been logged in so I've added that to my card already I'm gonna click off of it and I'm gonna come up here to my shopping cart there it is and we're ready to checkout if you do not yet have an account with designs by juju you can click right here on my account and you can open one right there it's free to do that I'm gonna proceed to checkout and I'm gonna use my credit card and then you have to check I have a red and agree to terms and conditions and then place order that just means that you know you're not going to get something in the mail it's a downloadable file all right thank you for your purchase now you should receive an email telling you that you have made the purchase I'm not going to do that right now I'm going to come up top and I'm gonna click on my orders and here it is right here alright and you can view order and here's where you can download it I'm gonna click the download button and I can get it in all formats or just a single format well I have two different kinds of embroidery machines so I'm gonna choose all formats you can pick whichever one you need if you're not sure you need to check your manual and find out what format your machine uses so I'm gonna click all formats and then right over here in the corner I have a download and you see it says DB JJ that's designs by juju and it's a zip file and when it's all done it says open file but I don't necessarily want to do that right now now this went to your downloads folder so you want to come over here to the little folder at the bottom of the screen and you get this screen right here and you they have one up here that says downloads and if not it's over here in the side and it says downloads click that and there it is right there ok now what I want to do is move that file to my embroidery Boulder so I'm going to click it and highlight it I'm gonna right-click I'm going to cut I'm gonna come over to embroidery I need a folder for mug rugs so I'm gonna come up here kind of over in the side and I'm going to right you don't want to be highlighted on something you want to kind of come in between where you don't have anything highlighted and go right click new and come up to the top and go folder and I'm gonna call it mug rugs double click that and now right-click and paste there is the mug rug set now what you want to do is click it and highlight it right click extract all and it comes up and says select a destination and extract the files where do you want to put them well I'm gonna put them in the very same place they are right now if you want to put them somewhere else you can browse and move them around but I don't recommend you do that it's just easier to just click extract it will take a second there we go there's everything we need and we have sets of instructions there's see that big file size that's the instructions and I open it up and I'm gonna want to read these it'll give you your fabric sizes that you need and everything how big your batting needs to be and then you can read through these and see all of the instructions so it says please read through before beginning so you're gonna want to do that on this particular file when you see TC that means thread change and there's a this boxes marked when it's time to change your thread color so I'm gonna minimize that because I need to read that and I'm gonna make these on the brother luminaire so it uses a PS file format one of the things that I highly recommend that you do is that you get a piece of software that is made by a brilliance and it's called thumbnail er if I go to see how I can't see what these are that's because they're small right now but if I go to view large icons now I can see what they are isn't that nice so I will put a link to in brilliance thumbnail er below this is great so this lets me see the design and the size and we know that they're all five by seven so I want to make this pretty little one right here and so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to open and brilliance and I want to set my hoop to be the five by seven so you come to edit and preferences right now it's on the nine by fourteen I have PE s you can set it to whatever type of format that embroidery machine you your embroidery machine uses and I'm gonna scroll down to 130 by 180 millimeters there it is right there and it says approximately five by seven I'm gonna click apply now what I want to do is go back to my folder where I have my designs and all you need to do is move the window I'm gonna grab this and drag it see the little plus sign right there there we go that's all done now I need to get this design to the machine there's a couple of different ways to do that if you do not have a machine that has wireless capability like the brother luminaire then what you're going to want to do is go file save stitch file as and you want to navigate to your USB Drive you need to put the USB Drive stick into your machine and then you're going to click on it and then all the files that you have on your USB will show and where it says my design I'm going to put just mug rug and I'm going to click save or hit enter and that will save and now you can take the USB stick to your embroidery machine then you can retrieve the file that way if you have a brother luminaire or baby lock Solaris then you can come up to utility send to Solaris or XP 1 to XP 1 is the luminaire click that and it says what do you want to name it I'm gonna name it mug rug I'm gonna name it mug rug 1 because I bet you I'm gonna do all of these I'm gonna click OK and it'll take just a second and it'll say file sent to machine ok once you have your 5 by 7 hoop ready to go you need to use a piece of cutaway mesh stabilizer and I have a piece of sulky here there we go I will link to all of these products below tighten it up finger tight is fine that's a nice hooping right there and we're ready to go to the machine the really nice thing about this particular mug rug is that you don't really have to do any thread changes if you don't want to so I know that I want to do the design in black on the fabric and I'm gonna use a black background on it and the backing and so I'm just gonna use black thread for everything you can change your thread colors but you don't have to on the luminaire you're gonna touch embroidery and we're gonna go to the pocket for the memory and I sent this over wirelessly so I'm gonna touch the wireless button and I'm gonna go down I named it mug rug and these are alphabetical so there it is right there mug rug one great I'm gonna hit set and embroidery and we're good to go one of the neat things that you're going to want to watch and you're on your screen for your embroidery is it's going to tell you right here what the next stitch is that it's going to do so right now this is going to do a placement line for our batting [Music] so what you have on your screen right here explain all this to you there's sixteen hundred and eighty five stitches in this design we are on color number two of five and the next color is going to take one minute and the total time to stitch out is three minutes how quick is that great so now I'm going to take my batting and put it in if it has little bumpy's on it you want to put the bumpy side down I don't know that it always matters a whole lot there's a school of thought on that this is tacking down the batting now we're going to place the front side of the mug rug fabric right side up and it's going to tack it down the instructions say to tape it down you can if you want I've found there's really only one time you really need to make sure that you take next is the motif design in the middle and the next step is the last one so you need to take part a of the backing and place it with the open edges 1/2 inch over the stitch line and then you need to take so you want the folded edge to the middle and then you need to take Part B of the backing and place this about 1 inch over Part A and you want this about 1/2 inch over the stitch line like that ok you're gonna want to put the tape down to cover this end and that end a fabric so that the embroidery foot will not catch on either edge all done remove the hoop from the machine and you can pull off the tape all right so I'm just going to loosen this a little bit and pop it out tape there and I'm going to trim this down to within a quarter of an inch of the outside stitching and then I'm gonna take my scissors and I'm gonna do a 45 degree angle don't trim through the stitching I get to within 1/8 of an inch and we're ready to turn it right-side out I like to use my little clover turning tool so handy it's quick work of these corners and I like the other end of it to run it along the inside seam to straighten them out if they need to be at all ready to go press this so that's it there's number two all done didn't they turn out cute these are great for my sewing room I needed a couple I needed one for my table and one for over by my machines so it was a lot of fun I think I'm gonna make some more I hope you guys enjoyed this video if you liked it give it a thumbs up and I hope you subscribe we'll talk to you soon go save something bye
