I may have found a $250,000 airplane for only $100,000 I'm afraid this is a too good to be true type of thing and instead of flying commercial or taking the RV we decided a smart choice would be to load all the kids up in a minivan for 17 hours back in J July August I don't know it's been a while on our trip we uh think this is the brick and we're hoping the notice still there with a whole bunch of you that have signed it so silus check it that's the brick Oh there's the note right there look at that that's fantastic there's just a whole bunch of them we're going to put another note right here put another we'll go find another one something we Elvis we'll we'll find something and stick here it's at pump number 226 at the bies outside of mon Georgia and uh sign it again put your name here this is too cool we got to continue this it's also the wife's first time to bies time to go get some barbecue sandwich I've never seen a bathroom so big in my life okay that's funny they do not have Mountain Dew here's the new piece of paper what's up right here behind this brick at pump number 226 little # save the 310 action Jimmy was here on 12182 23 we got lots of lines on both front and back fill it up it's awesome rpid freezing out here in Tennessee and the mountains and we were stopping for gas and wouldn't you know it the upside app comes through again in Tennessee of all places going to fill up here I'm I'm noticing Circle Ks pretty much I go to a Circle K there near Plant City and it's always on the upside app they're usually one of the cheapest gas places too and here in Tennessee just popped open the app did a map search where we were going and it showed it right there opened it in Google maps and sent us right here so we can save a few bucks on gas so uh thank you to upside for helping us with this and yeah hey you guys we uh save money whenever we use the upside app for whatever we buy inside too oh wait let's get some donuts donuts once you've found your gas station next just claim an offer for whatever you're buying on upside then pay as usual with a credit card or debit card follow the steps in the app and get paid in comparison to credit card or loyalty programs you can earn three times more cash back with upside you can cash out anytime to your bank account PayPal or as a gift card for Amazon and other brands upside doesn't sell your personal information to third parties they know your information is a vital part of their trusted relationship with you it's one of the highest rated apps there is 4.8 on the App Store Nikes it's cold out there download the upsite app use the code Jimm's world and get 25 cents off every gallon for your first tank of gas we got an extra 12% off of all the goodies that we got inside too by using the upside app so if you haven't already download the upside app it's free they don't sell your information they just partner with gas stations and restaurants to try to help you save you some money and uh I did learn one thing about the stop from the other gas station uh the big one they do not have Mountain Dew not okay with that by the way okay Beaver people you know what I'm talking about so all right you guys let's go find us an airplane that we can just make this 19-hour trip into about 3 and 1/2 hours of okay this is a 1973 421b Bravo model and I'm looking at it for a family hauler cuz as you saw we got a a minivan packed full of junk and kids and stuff even on top of that thing and this right here is the one that'll haul all that stuff and it also take a I don't know roughly 17 to 19 hour trip depending on stops and bladder size of a six-year-old and turn into a 3 and 1/2 hour no stop take off and land kind the deal cuz she's got a bathroom on board uh might have found a pretty good deal on one it's it's a Jimmy's World special it it needs some love we're going to see if uh if this isn't the one which I think we we may have we may have found something a lot better than the the 414s that I've looked at so 375 horsepower on each side of this thing these are geared engines which if you're an aviation person you already know know what I'm about to say if you're not an aviation person come here and let me show you just how expensive Aviation can get the engine sits down here the propeller sits up here so they put a little gearbox right here so that it comes out and over so these gigantic propellers can spin slower yet still provide the same amount of thrust and give you better efficiency out of the engine and because they're a bigger propeller they can move more air so on and so forth uh but haa insanely expensive if you have to repair fix and these have an issue with the crank cases cracking and a couple of other things to replace rebuild this engine with a continental Factory rebuild $115,000 each not kidding not that even include the propeller that's just the engine and to set it on there and connect it 115,000 bucks each now ironically I think we might be able to get this airplane for the cost of one engine I hope we're going to find out um pulled up to it so far it actually looks pretty good so you know hey we'll we'll start at one end and just walk our way around and see what we can see everything was looking really nice until this the real test is the wife test so babe uh come on in and check it out and let me know your thoughts on the spacing and that kind of thing so look at that there you go take a seat oh even got a little little table hell somewhere in here how it there goes oh yes back in school yeah except for that we'll edit that out that was the first thing that that went wrong like I was saying you have cup holders right here you got another table falls out you know what it's called a laptop I'm sure it's fine armrest there they stay up most of the time and then uh this this back here is really where the CRM Crim so babe come in now see what we got back here can I come in for the for the long for the long trips somehow this opens oh there it goes oh who who yes oh man that would have been really helpful on our right van trip yeah right there that's is there a curtain oh there's a curtain yeah okay oh look at that so yeah here look so I can be on here have a little privacy and I can be like don't make eye contact across there we go be like a little awkward I'm locked in here now there we go there we go this is too funny Aviation grade what do you think about this size though oh this is very comfortable mhm it's very nice you know bougie feels a little bit like a minan you kind of stretch minivan your legs out I know look I can stretch my legs out the seats are nice and leather I got that I can still see the cockpit right there but his leg room which is nice unless you're facing a teenager over there well then you can sit in this seat look right right right that's nice unless you haven't moved forward for luggage is what I was thinking yeah is there a compartment beyond that or is that end uh that that's pretty much it there so you have this area right here for storage and then you have all these areas out here one thing I love about these particular ones you have a baggage here and here so you got lots of space to stick things Golf Club skis and other other things what do you know what the baggage the weight that can go up here is are the are they unlocked can I open them yeah I don't know that they're unlocked but you'll see okay cuz it might even have a thing on here I'm not for sure what the B Max here we go let me Max Capac capacity 250 lb 90 of optional equipment and look at that that thing that's over 6 feet long I could fit in there oh there you go Keith air conditioner oh yeah and it's it's outfitted with a Keith air conditioning system which is primo good stuff um yeah so we got that is that's a huge amount of space inside there that's ridiculous gol clubs whatever yeah skis I can fit uh my um some Freedom sticks in there so we can go hunting or you know whatever you'd like to do there oh wait here we oh that so 250 lbs must just be for the front one that's insane cuz this one says 350 lb minus the 39 lb of optional equipment so what 300 we'll just call it 10 lb so okay 450 lb essentially is what we're able to fit in this whole area supplemental oxygen or emergency oxygen okay all so this is separate from the onboard cylinder pressurization you have your pressurization and there's your uh tank that allows you to go from I believe 25 to 31,000 or something like that oh wow yeah gosh that is a lot of fuel you can go long ways jeez okay all right now the story with this one is uh gentlemen they've owned it for I don't know how many years 10 12 years 10 10 12 years something like that uh they got it on a trade they've flown it off and on here here and there but they just haven't used it enough to justify the expense of keeping it flying which I can understand uh cuz just your standard annual on this you just if everything is kind of normal annual you're looking on the low end 15,000 bucks and then if you ever have to replace anything or repair anything just skies the limit just go up from there so I as a rule of thumb my research has shown me to budget somewhere between $ 25 and $330,000 a year for the annual plus any squaws to take care of those not including any upgrades you might want to do to the avionics or engine or any of that stuff little did I know what I was about to find find out so it's about 40 to 42 gallons an hour which if you do and it's about 200 knots roughly um it drinks a lot of gas but it get a lot of people and a lot of stuff to a lot of places now the engine times one has 1,000 or 1100 the other one 1100 and I think the other one has 780 or something like okay so and the TBO on these are 1600 hours I think so we're talking one engine's right at that midpoint the other engine's a little a little beyond that so to go into what's called non icing you have to have a hot plate a few other things this one is not a no icing airplane but it will get you out of situations where you were questionably going into anyways which frankly is what I'm looking for because we're looking to travel all over the country and especially if we take the uh you know the Elvis jet around we're going to have to go meet it and be at places on schedule and frankly the 310 and the Aztec they they can't fit it's they're just not big enough and they they're not equipped well enough to be able to take us where we need to go so that's why something like this is needed okay needed nobody needs this but I really want it clean finger rub to see how oxidized it is and you go like this that's a great sign oh yeah so that tells me that these boots are not oxidized and you can see the ribs in here where they would blow up so they go and inflate and that what what breaks the ice off the other thing these little tabs right here Vortex generators there's one missing here you're allowed to have a certain number of them missing before it becomes an airworthiness thing um but you know it's not the end of the world cuz they're pretty pretty straightforward to replace or repair stuff like that so even just these little tabs these pieces of metal you it allows you legally to carry more weight whenever you get going which is pretty cool and the are you able to land a little bit slower too your angle of attack and yeah cuz it it does a lot of things creates little vortices so that the wind sticks to the the wing a little better give you more controllability at lower speeds and whenever you're more at an angle like that so the air stays to it more rather than falls off and go like this everybody screams yeah so this feel tight I mean yeah you can see a little wear on the propellers but it feels feels good the same with the boots here you can see the wire that goes through it right here that's the electric heater part and it's got a ring on the back the other thing I'm looking for is uh bleeding rivets they streaking rivets the black stuff coming off of the back of them and this here's something fun that's should tie down and there should be springloaded if there there he goes that's not good this plane has been sitting a little longer than I thought cuz normally when you let go they go snap and they go pop back up in there and that that one didn't tires look pretty good the this one's brand new holy cow the biggest deal with these are the the landing gear cuz these are still the electric landing gear where the 421 Charlie C model made a lot of changes to it and one of them was hydraulic landing gear so that torque tube right there is the one that would crack and that's the one we need to look at all the welds all the way around it to make sure it's not cracked or twisted and then the other place place on the landing gear is back here where they attach to make sure all those are not cracked for any really bad rough Landings or anything like that oh yeah this is almost the exact same way that my 310 is rigged away in the same position of all the arms and everything and you want to talk about a pain in the butt to rig so an adjustment on this linkage right here will change the nose gear and thing on the nose gear will change all these it's it's absolutely the craziest thing [Applause] ever I can tell this has been in a hanger for you know most or a long time he got a little bit of oil right here yeah it's not coming from there I don't think although there is yeah there's oil coming all the way from here right there it's hard to tell without popping that thing off can't really tell in the old adage uh you buy engines and you get an airplane for free is 100% true uh so there are there's a another YouTuber out there that got an airplane for free turns out so far it's the most expensive twin Cessna I've ever heard of in my life man I'm glad I'm not that guy if this was pilot um gauges co-pilot gauges and you use your I always just use my iPad and it pulls up all that weather and everything anyways okay Wheels tires are nice not dry rotted even inside there that's good so far everything's looking as expected I mean it doesn't it's not all rusted and corroded out and stuff like that like you'd find in planes in Florida and you know some seals that you would expect out of like the steering dampener up here and these struts and stuff but that's just because they haven't been used okay and this right here it's for the onboard heater it's a gas heater inside there now these have to be pressure tested every I think 5 years or something like that and if they have to be replaced you're talking anywhere between 12 and $15,000 airplane life so I I would really doubt that this has been pressure tested because of how long and what they've done for keeping it flying and stuff like that so that's got to go in the budget here in just a couple minutes when I go to the hotel and take a look at the log books I'm going to discover something about that heater okay yeah we have right here here we go get up under here see this blue right here so that is fuel right there that'll be something else to look at yeah it's got just a little misting of the Illinois anti- rust on it which that's normal I expect nothing less and honestly it probably the seals are just dried up we'll open this and just again double triple quadruple check those crank cases cuz uh if those are cracked welcome to a parts plane frankly um but overall so far everything is looking pretty good actually kind of kind of what I was expecting this thing seems too good to be true I don't know what I'm missing here the engine seem to be good the airf frame seems to be good like everything is solid paint all that what am I missing why why is this thing so cheap and I'm checking for play right here just to see how the Hub if it's greased right out what its status is and it's not anything conclusive but it it's all little stuff and it all adds up and everything is consistent with an airplane that's been taken care of just not used very often but has been inside cuz as you've seen with that 414 up in Seattle if they would have just kept that plane inside that would still be a fantastic airplane but they didn't and now it's a big project what is [Music] that a leaf makings of a small bird's nest yeah there's a few few more little things in there all right okay oh Don did you have a uh a screwdriver or or Phillips or something we can use to pop these uh inspection covers off I don't know nothing about that D okay all right there should be a well you a pre-flight bag you know the sump that I'm talking about a lot of times those on the bottom will have a screwdriver on it what do you mean you don't have a pre-flight bag every airplane has a pre-flight bag this was my first red flag of how the rest of this whole thing went uh it was it was the first tell of why this thing was $100,000 and not $200 or $250,000 wouldn't be Jimmy's world without some redneck engineering going on we couldn't find a Philips screw driver but we found that and we couldn't find the thing but we have a/ qu inch socket so we're just yeah it's fine oh yeah this works better than a screwdriver all right really oh there we go okay all right so we got some Continental big boore angle valve looking at all the engine baffling oil cooler back here all that stuff looks good so I see just a little bit of oil coming off of the the fitting coming out of the oil cooler here now there recently has been a really expensive um exhaust vband recall ad that's been issued and I don't know if the repair work they did to this supersedes and so that ad no longer applies to this engine this airplane or if this one still does so that's something I still have to figure out this is a light right here you turn on in the cockpit and it shines a light over so at night you can see if you have any ice build up that's kind of neat so the crank the the case itself I'm looking along the where the cylinders meet to the crank case and along the bottom to see if that's wet that's going to be a tellall sign of for sure a crack crank case all right systems you want to talk about a bunch of systems not only do you have your regular stuff like your engine controls now you're talking about pressurization systems a different air conditioning system a different heater system then you have all your your deicing stuff so you have your prop heat you have your boots here then you have your windshield which I don't is there anything on this is it I don't see alcohol or no it doesn't have anything doesn't have a heated Shield or anything on it does it okay so yeah he just got system over system over system over system and that is an awful lot to do as a single pilot as well especially when you start getting a bunch of stuff happening all at once you've got like 15 20 things going on okay let's see what we can see on this side oh here's that fire bottle right here so this that little round thing right there that is for fire system [Music] and I can't tell but that looks like it says zero that's not supposed to say zero and they told me that they just had those serviced less than a year ago and those were supposed to be sent out and rebuilt so for it already to be at zero one of two things must have happened they must have had an engine fire and had to use it which I didn't see any of that there or there's a leak or something is a miss so that's ding red flag number two three that I found so far so I'm not sure maybe these were just checked and not filled is that what it was cuz this this one says zero on the PSI on it did he just recertify them just not fill them up or something refill them yeah okay then I'm looking at the exhaust Stacks as well to make sure those are not cracked okay the case itself the front up here is wet I wonder if that's the alternator where that goes in they did say that they did start it up yesterday and they've started this thing theyd pull it out every once in a while and start up and run it uh one of the known issues is one side has a fuel boost pump that is not working the way it should be so they have to get fuel to it crossfeeding it from the other side to get it started and running I was expecting that one yet we're about to discover a whole lot more all right so we'll button this side back up and then go take a peek at the other side all right oh I okay they're just wet cell batteries they're not a nickel cadney they're not a nikad weird okay there's standard type battery the push rod tube seals I think those on Mo on half of the cylinders are all little moist little wet that's pretty normal as well for one that just sits it looks like like the same size and shape okay I can see it on the top on the back on the bottom well that can't be good to find a a large nut that looks like it goes to something important just floating in there and it doesn't look like it's been off for all that long so that and we can't figure out where it goes and nobody seems to know where this thing goes that's never a good feeling knowing that not all the nuts and bolts are on everything on an airplane flying at 20,000 ft at over 200 mph all right well the search continues for our missing random nut that you find on here silus finally got his hands dirty huh don't ever wear a watch when you're working on stuff by the way it'll get caught on things and rip your hand off it's no fun they call it de gloving what yeah cuz it whenever it catches all the skin on your hand gets peeled back like you're taking a glove off isn't that fantastic all right so good on that side let's go to the other side over here see what we got so far so good okay all righty yeah this one's this one is much drier than the other side yeah yeah it is spider webs that's always a good sign right there spider kind of looking hard yeah this side is definitely drier than the other side okay so here so I'll give you our good luck charm never did figure out where that came from no he stuck his hand back in there and it's the same nut that goes on the governor and it looks the same and it's got the star washer on the back just like it would and I don't know what the heck it came off of I can't H in there and drop down something yeah I don't have any idea and I can't see and get to the other two nuts on it or without a mirror and a better flashlight to see but well I'm I'm about ready to crawl inside this thing if I don't know how what it going to take to pull it out maybe we can fire it up and pull that no trouble does the Tug come with it yeah that's right I don't know if this is a good deal or not because everything so far is actually pretty good except there's a few things like there's no pre-fly bag in it which that's weird to me so we can't even check the fuel or anything else like you normally would do the uh fuel pump is toast on one side there's random nuts falling off of the engine my wife thinks it looks like a minivan on the inside inside the table fell off when we pulled it out but maybe just maybe when we fire it up we can just change all that I there's still enough in here where I think it still makes sense so it's I don't know but it everything's looking pretty good so far so let's let's keep going are we going to clear the door yeah okay it's going to be close yeah we're clear there fuel quantity all right clear clear prop okay we use your Prime till we see fuel but now what no okay already I'm scared cuz I had a bad experience in a T6 that caught fire because we primed it till we saw fuel that did not turn out well and this like not there at no point that I see a checklist or any procedure manual come out up to this point I'm just throwing that out there let's let's see how this goes the guy that do does all the instruction says don't do that all right he says prime it a little bit and then whatever we're looking for oil pressure to come up there it goes okay another thing on these geared engines is when that engine hits a couple of time get off the starter okay that guy says that saves your starter gear Roger that okay where's do you see any fuel over yep fuel's coming out okay should start fuel coming out all right oh There She Goes she's popping now okay let me hit the boost again there you [Music] go she's wanting to you got fuel coming out of it pretty good okay yeah you got a lot of fuel coming out of that thing that's normal as I was watching all the fuel pour out of this airplane all I was thinking is I'm sure glad I didn't put a deposit down on this thing yet cuz I would not want this to be my airplane and and having that much fuel pouring out and if it backfired game over this sucker is going on fire maybe that's why the other Fire Bottle was empty cuz they might have tried to start it this this way and it caught on fire I never thought about that till just now that is such a bad idea and Engine 2 is no longer on fire buckle up boys I mean it's just the nuttiest thing ever just pouring fuel out of this why what I have never seen a startup procedure that involved pouring three gallons of fuel out of the airplane this can't be good it's going to be exciting but I don't think it's good this is so such a bad [Music] ideaa that's a good battery in this thing that's for sure should have started right up okay let's try the other engine one Continental starter $2,499 yeah hold on yeah we're that's yeah that's a lot of fuel we'll that's nor more nothing to worry about let's see I'm going I tell you what I didn't do mags are on yeah we are yeah they're on here's what I didn't do that's okay I didn't have the Boost pumper all right here we go okay here we go clear prop I think your Boost pump is still on this side cuz it's still flowing fuel out like crazy think started right up yesterday then why isn't it starting just fine today if they had it running yesterday this thing should have fired up like that that something something that I don't see is going on and the way the procedures they're using I don't think that's normal you still got lots of fuel coming out of it hey there we go yeah I just had it too [Music] much yeah used fuel pouring out of that thing yeah I got too much fuel in cuz I on mine you have to hit it Prime for a half a second put that all the way up and then once it starts turning then you flip the Boost pump on okay and that's on on my engine I mean that's a continental but all all right you're you're sto peeing out of it anyway okay so yeah you put it all the way to to full Rich yeah you crack that all the way up and then you don't turn the fuel pump on until after you start the engine start turning it so you hit the fuel pump it makes two blades then you flip the fuel pump on so you got to use two hands over there till that thing hits see this is it's really kind of dumb all right you got lots of fuel coming out again now all okay here we [Music] go yeah here let's let's give this thing a red let me let just walk through everything we got started great all right so standard we got standard sixpack altitude vertical your abs that's your for your pressure no no that's that's St down here yeah cin rate there you go set that so what is ABS altitude I don't know what any of these buttons do but please For the Love of All That's holy stop flooding this engine so hey what does this do tell me about this hey what is that dude tell me about that this I'm just trying to find any way to get out of this airplane at this point and or get a checklist of some sort would be a good start this none none of this is right um DH a is that for you that's not part of the flight director stuff is it no uh that's just the altitude I me what me up here and this is I think that's for the autopilot I'm not for sure the all pilot is right here mhm and yeah autopilot does autopilot work on it still yes it did now I didn't fly it last but I'm sure it did sure old so this one yeah these are the old transpond so we'd have to get a different transponder for the adsb stuff for it to work this is your old that's old 155 probably connected to a number I don't know which one's number one and number two over there but I think it's this one yeah and this GPS probably connected to your card yeah this is your old stri we never used yeah does it still even turn on or anything I don't know nobody knows okay gauges over here for everything outside air temperature it's cold boys it's cold well Tim you got fuel flow okay right and left RPMs right and left M pressure yep yep yep yep yep yep yep gear switch down your flaps your prop syn is that it yeah there you go right there so you get them syned up here as best you can flip that thing on and that kind of fine- tunes it for you yeah that's sming gets air conditioning condenser door light mhm all the different selections hold on about yeah conditioner here yeah you can see that mhm window there yep yep yep mhm yep yep all right well one more yeah let's give her another shot all right clear clear BR man I came here to see a super good deal to get $150,000 off of an airplane that take our entire family and we traveled all the way from Florida to Tennessee it's freezing cold we're out here I really hope this thing starts cuz I don't want to make this entire trip for nothing we spent two days driving to get here to this place so I just it had better work come on it's wanting to come on come on come on go yeah here it was okay we we'll get her figured out let that thing rest a few minutes cuz I I'd be talking to Calvin and I don't know if he would be doing another annual on it or if I would just get a ferry permit to take it to to my place to do the annual on it probably be the best he's so slow and got a lot going on yeah would you consider 75 for it I'm not going to sell for that cuz it's real money and it's cash and my wife she's already I said yes takes to buy it takes $100,000 takes $100,000 to buy it if I could get this thing for1 Grand that's the best deal on one of these airplanes I've ever seen cuz I have just like I told you I have no use for it whatsoever yeah it's just set I mean it's tempting that's a good B yeah it's tempting I'll be honest it's it is [Music] tempting I SP I SP $40,000 cabin so you put all that fuel system in there that yeah yeah that's yeah no it's that's a good good price for when I get red cell I don't look back what I've got in it yeah okay just you know it's just surely it's not worth 100, cuz I'm yeah I'm just adding up in my head yeah well you know what you want to do and I understand yeah okay well I tell you what let me uh let me let me sleep got a couple more guys coming to look at it yeah let me uh let me sleep on it and then as far as um MoneyWise goes give you know how do you how you want to do that it give you a good size deposit and deposit on it yeah that's fine okay all right well let me I'll call you in the morning okay and I'll let you know one way or the other cuz I'm simple it's either yes or no it is what it is and right okay well crap just drove whole long time to get here airplane didn't start checked out looks pretty good thankfully we're staying at the hotel very close by so hopefully I'll go back look through all the log books and everything like that and then we have one last chance in the morning before we head on and finish this trip to see if it's going to start um but little did I know what I was going to find out in those log books as part of my inspection on this airplane go through the log books this one unlike most of my other airplanes actually has the log books and they're all fairly complete I don't find any damage history where it was crashed which is always a good thing but there is one that I'm really concerned about and it was back in 2018 and I'll read I certify that this aircraft has been inspected in accordance with an annual inspection and a list of discrepancies and unairworthy items dated November 18th 2018 have provided for the aircraft owner in then the very next thing is a fairy flight from that place back to Morristown where it's based and then they go through some of this and then I dug through normally you don't find the report but I think that's what this is and there's a lot I mean all those things look that's it's ridiculous now out of all these things there's one that I really don't like and it's this one right here just go ahead and zoom in right there on that aha I have discovered the reason why this airplane is $100,000 and not $200,000 we found the Smoking Gun that line could be $115,000 problem it doesn't always mean that the engine needs to be rebuilt if there's metal in the oil but that's a pretty good indicator that there's a problem Houston we have a problem metallic shavings found on initial oil separator filter cleaning now I also did a little research and uh so you want to know an airplane huh well take a seat because we're about to go on a ride normally when you find metal shavings in the oil that's not good and this engine is the one that has about 1,200 hours on it which is also kind of high time for one of these engines and in my search I found worst case scenario we have to replace the engine well air power Continental engine that's what it is $3,939 just for the engine that has nothing to do with actually getting it put on or all the other stuff you have to replace with that'll take your breath away that's more than the actual airplane my eyes are watering a little bit on that one uh yeah amongst the other things that I found were uh some pressurization issues which they even said they haven't flown it for pressurization so you just figure I don't know $110,000 for that then they have a fuel pump issue you worst case labor and parts five grand for that and then they have uh let me I I actually had to make a list uh oh the heater still hasn't been tested however good news on that it's fairly new and this airplane has flown less than 85 hour well not even flown it has been ran less than 85 hours in over 12 years I mean you just add up 1 hour per year that's $12.75 so this thing has flown about five times in the last 12 years and the last one being that fairy flight when they found metal in the oil to where it's at now and I think they've just been slowly over the past 5 years that was in 2019 it's now 2024 basically uh yeah so 5 years of just inching their way through all the squaws since this thing is even in flown so we're looking at fuel pump 3500 bucks the heater pressure test I think it'll come back good $2,500 it needs a tire not the end of the world but these are expensive tires 1,000 bucks a piece on them babies only needs one though the other ones are new the cabin pressurization stuff I'm guessing $110,000 because there could be seals and hoses and valves and everything else a part of that just going to throw it even 10 grand out there it does not have adsb which not surprising that's really kind of a basic thing but the little box transponder is expensive and you got to get it installed and rewired and all that five grand for that then there's an exhaust ad on these that it's a turbocharged twin Cessna so you have a basically the exhaust pipes will Rust and corrode and rust through and wear through and that kind of a thing um and it's a big one you have to replace place a bunch of parts on the exhaust $155,000 to comply with that and it has to be done every 12 years and you want to know when the last time it was done yeah about 11 and 1/2 years ago so you want to know what we're going to have to do with it yeah that one so there's 15 grand so I'm just adding up all these things Bo boom we've never even heard this thing run now I did call them we're going to try it again this morning after I get dressed and we head over there we're going to see how that works um here's now here's my math how my mind works my goal is to get this airplane fly it around to do trips with the whole family speaking of the whole family uh and and and then be able to sell it once we're done with all the trips and try to get as much money back out of it as I can so I got to make sure to not be into it so far upside down that I'll never get that money out of it all that to be said this airplane with some of those upgrades and getting everything squared away is worth about $200,000 so barring an engine replacement which is absolute worst case scenario uh if I can buy this let's say $100,000 and then realistically a major annual we're probably talking $30 to $40,000 with all the squawks and everything else we'll call it 40 grand for that and then another 30 I mean 10 25 30 another 30 grand it's going to be roughly a 60 to $75,000 annual because of some of the major things that need done and that's all assuming the engine is good and we don't have to do any major work to the engine so that means 100 I have to spend 75 on it we're now $175,000 for an airplane that I could sell maybe for $200,000 that does not leave much room at all for anything to go unexpected that we see yeah this is a tight one I don't know uh we'll have to get over there if this thing miraculously fires up and everything seems to be working the oil pressures and all that stuff seem to be going and I get an actual solid answer from the mechanic that did all the other work afterwards on this metallic shavings found in the oil then I may actually still consider it but beyond that who I don't know you can it I mean you can spend a lot of money really fast so well all right let's get ready let's go over there and see if we can't get this thing start it up and see how that goes I thought I would take the pilot seat today and I would give it a wing and I read the manual last night let's see how this goes all right we're back at the airplane day twoth A nice bris 34° this morning got the battery charged up now we're going to see if we can't get this girl to show some life on this one all right let's go all right and if I don't do this everybody on Earth will be giving me comments about how you never start an engine without being belted and buckled which they they're right all right okay cuz you never know you don't want to go on any unintended flights all right brakes kind of sort of set does this have a parking brake on it is that what this is yeah all right and if all goes well this should work can I get a clear prep 3 [Music] 4 is there any fuel over there there's our left fuel flow that's what we needed right there all right oh we cross yeah you're yeah I got it crossfeeding now we showed fuel flow right there that we're looking for all right oh yeah there now we got fuel to it okay clear prop okay I couldn't get the left engine started so let's try the right engine and let's try it his way I guess clear the propage well we got one goly we worked for that man I'm so glad that engine started one down one to go man we really worked for that one oil pressure is up fuel pressure fuel flows right there see if the engine driven pump is working yeah and let this thing charge up there we go now it's charging sheez Louise there's our man manifold RPMs the ripples all right let this thing try to got your alator yeah I flipped it on so it's charging [Music] now all right okay holy moly all right do we want to give that other one a shot now that we're [Music] still cross fed okay there's pressure coming up all right cliar up whoa okay well I'm kind of tired of fooling with this thing cuz it clear it it needs some we got to get the fuel pump thing figured out and I'm guessing the spark plugs are so fuel fouled and everything else in this okay all right I think I'm done the margins are so thin on this thing it it just doesn't make sense there's still other repairs to even get this thing running I would have to get this airplane even less than $100,000 to make it worth going through with it and then I still don't know what I don't know I'm still going to make him an offer though I guess if we had more time to fool with this thing but hey it wouldn't be Jimmy's world if everything went right so uh here you go I'll watch your head
