A day in the life of a gold prospector

so oh good morning everybody a bit of a chili on this morning right then to start the day toilet okay it's time to get on with the day and we need to wipe all the jew off the table get rid of all that this is a bottle that i found it's in perfect condition we think it's from 1907 to 1960s so it could be up to 100 years old which would be nice we need to get tonight's dinner out to the freezer coincidentally the very top they can start defrosting that is one of our fridges well that's the freezer there's one in there very handy there's one in the car and there's one inside okay they can defrost sausages now we need to get solar panels i need to get here and get my gold detector out from in there not sure i can do this with one hand i don't know where you get the idea you now have to put the battery in the detector so that just fits the case to protect it okay so this is the metal detector or technically gold detector i'll show you a bit more of this later and this is the speaker where you hear the noises and that straps in my chest i'll show you that also later on okay so this is the power meter on the caravan so we can see we've got 44 battery left and that'll take if we just use the light so we have one now we've got eight hours of power left including the fridges this is more in detailed i'll show you later where when the sun's out this is how we charge with those solar panels and the water looking a little bit low at the moment actually this one's faulty so we're gonna get that fixed when we get back that one is looking a little low and 11 liters and 20 liters left but we have some spare in inside there there is a spare tank with 100 liters of water so that's what it's called in the electric compartment 9 degrees outside by the way can i interrupt your video could you put the inverter on so i can squeeze my orange juice just to let everyone know that antoinette doesn't squeeze my orange juice all the time i can do it and have a look oops i need a glass and it's very technical of course [Music] we this morning's breakfast is very sophisticated it is crunchy nuts hang on oh we got raisins i've got some washing today in a minute whilst we're having breakfast what we do is we plan our trip and all these green lines are places we've been we're yellow dot to where we found gold so you can see when there's yellow dots we have concentrated harder around those areas and if we zoom out that's the closest town me cathera which is a massive mine in there but we're down here so we've got lots of lambda cover and today i think we're going to be going around here again to fill in all this area that we haven't done all this area here now we're having our second breakfast to get the extra energy and the sun is coming up actually it's quite high we're late today what time is it 7 44. yeah it's bloody freezing 9 degrees oh well you can't see but we're doing the washing we're doing the dishes so i'll do all the cleaning and then stuff it does the drying apart from inspiration but you forgot to say that i didn't do all the cooking yeah yes this is correct it's like a production line oh yeah we both have our jobs people are going to stress out over the amount of soaps that are left on this sure there are water rations here we won't die all right before we go anywhere we need to get rid of this fire because it's freezing this morning and as you can see all these guys are doing the same thing okay we've just arrived i've just driven to the spot where we like so now we're getting prepared and this is the harness which we carry the gold detector on and this is my backpack which is full of 2 liters of water mainly this can get clipped in as well turn the radio on turn the speaker on i have got my hat with my flyknit but it's still freezing this morning so won't be needing that they also have a pick with a magnet that goes in there and a little scoop that clips on here and we are good to go just got to get this out and extend so i've just found a spot here and [Music] that's screaming hopefully it's not rubbish whoa that's got to be rubbish it's too [Music] loud holy have a look at this one that's all right that's not that that's a good gram and a half maybe a gram grams new spot you find your last piece over there yeah yeah maybe what's that six meters away and now he's been gridding grilling this whole area you can see his tracks up and down and this is another sound it might be lead it might be tin might be gold oh so it was very shallow oh in the first scoop that was lucky not sounding too good that's a bit of middle a little bit of a nail or something we're not finding much metal in this area but people have been here before so we'll keep looking check out the views having a little smoko without the smoke i think this is pretty cool that there is man-made it's an old mine pretty cool it's time for some snacks so so far we've been going for an hour and a half my legs are tired already and i've found nothing yet and staff has found a nice piece i can hear him digging again so hopefully we can find some more so i just came to the top of the hill for a bit of a break and some phone signals what i love about this is this literally looks like one marsh someone's been here there's tracks well it's not gold [Music] federal magnum three five seven it's a pistol bullet it's a pretty big one so staff has just found a second piece i'm not sure if you can see him behind me there and it was another one grammar which was good size i still haven't found anything so let's keep going i'm just about to head up there's a creek line in there through those trees so i'm gonna head up there and head over there because it looks quite good fingers crossed that's a noise let's cross your trekking from this way so somewhere in here let's just get rid of some surface rocks see if there's any noise there [Music] was definitely noise there it doesn't sound very deep a bit more scraping a bit more clearing there [Music] check the hole i'm guessing it's going to be out it's quite close to the surface okay let's work on the end somewhere in there at this end [Music] okay whatever this is in the middle i'm gonna guess let's bring this a bit closer [Music] so see you at some [Music] focus that's all it was a nail that goes in the bottom of people's boots and i've just dropped it for the next person sorry i've just came across a very exciting feature see this that is what you call a seat okay that's not the seat for my need another chair now legs are tired i just found this rock it's pretty cool it's got some red bits white bits red spot see these yellow yeah that looks so gold there it is noisy rock we didn't stuff it in the bloody rocks i gotta go back this way it was dry the whole way and just a random little bog patch it rained about five days ago and for some reason the ground is just not drying out but everywhere everywhere else did so making it nice and hard now we're just heading back to camp to get some lunch today has been the first day where we can drive because it was too wet in the last few days because of the rain just got back to camp stafford just weighed his gold i was too slow for that that his scales he just got 3.45 so really good result i am now having a cordial he is having a coke and we're going to have lunch in a minute this is just a starter what have we got for lunch sir we have chicken and sweet corn soup and hot dogs today that's exciting and oh look mr heinz is prepared chicken and sweet corn soup perfect okay stuff is just weird his so far that's good the biggest piece came from today happy man happy man well master chef salad again we've had our starter now we're on our main course for lunch thank you and now we're just doing some investigation on the map where oh what's that so i'm just taking flying off my head but these an update stafford has found more pieces i have found nothing today is not a good video not a good day to take a video of a day in the life of a prospector maybe it is there we go no flies all good same old same old swinging away swinging away it's like it's like streaming or whipper snipping for eight hours a day they're walking back to the car now end of the day staff had found five pieces i found nothing awkward tomorrow is another day there's the car which means the car will take us back to the caravan and we can have a shower and eat food and sit around the fire and then go to sleep and then repeat tomorrow i miss the sunset we were busy we were sat around the fire over there but now it's dinner time we've had a shower it's actually quite nice i should show you the shower but yep the sausages on the barbecue i think tonight and master chef is in the kitchen again yep this meat peas peas i'm just going to show you a shower because i forgot to show the shower well that'd been awkward and i'll show you the shower but anyway luxury five star resort in here the bucket so we don't waste water anyway yeah um and that's so dinner served by chef stafford again thank you a little bit of music playing now and there's my washing up oh and there's breakfast for tomorrow [Music] well we've just finished dinner and we're going to sit around the campfire but it's a little bit rude to rock up to a campfire with no timber oh that's a good one let's oh there's a huge spot on that yuck okay all right that'll do to the campfire okay so daniel's uh attending to the firewood for our fire he's brought half a microthara with him let's get this cranking a little bit cold night
