STORIES, THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WHOLE NEWSCAST. >>> LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW THIS COOLDOWN IS COMING OUR WAY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. WE TALKED ABOUT HOW MANY OF US TOMORROW ARE 10 DEGREES COOLER. LET ME GIVE YOU A COUPLE VISUALS HOW THAT HAPPENS. MAKE THE MOST OF THIS BECAUSE THERE IS A PRETTY BIG WARM-UP BY NEXT WEEK. FIRST HERE'S SATURDAY, VERY SUBTLE. LOOK AT THE MARINE LAYER ALONG THE COAST TOMORROW MORNING. WE PROBABLY WON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT IN THE WAY OF THE CLOUDS TOMORROW. WE'LL HAVE IT IN SPOTS, HAVE IT ALONG THE SAN MATEO COUNTY COAST. LOOK AT NAPA. WE'LL DEVELOP A LITTLE THERE, MAKE A LITTLE ALONG THE EAST BAY SHORE. WE STILL AREN'T GETTING INTO THE WIDESPREAD GRAYOUT WE USUALLY ASSOCIATE WITH EITHER MAY GRAY OR JUNE BLOOM, BUT WE MIGHT GET SOME LIGHT MIST AT THE COAST TOMORROW FROM THE CLOUDS. HOWEVER, THE FACT THERE'S THAT MANY CLOUDS BACK, THIS IS THE START OF THE CHANGE. WATCH SUNDAY MORNING. THERE IS A BIT MORE MARINE LAYER, BUT YOU'RE NOT GETTING AN ALL DAY GRAY IN THE BAY. HOWEVER, LOOK AT THE COAST. THESE ARE CLOUDS COMING BACK BY SUNDAY, A BIGGER PICTURE VIEW SHOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. WATCH THIS BIG RETURN RIGHT THERE. WHETHER OR NOT WE GET THE MARINE LAYER IN THE BAY, BY THE TIME WE WAKE UP ON SUNDAY MORNING, YOU WILL SEE THE MARINE LAYER BACK ALONG THE ENTIRE COAST IN ADVANCE OF SOMETHING EVEN MORE INTERESTING. LOOK UP THERE. THAT IS RAIN FROM A VERY WET STORM. THAT'S GOING TO BE HITTING THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. I KNOW WE'RE GETTING INTO EARLY JUNE, BUT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ATMOSPHERIC RIVER WITH A LOT OF RAIN GOING TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. WE'RE NOT GETTING RAIN OUT OF THAT, BUT WE WILL BE IMPACTED BY IT BECAUSE THAT SYSTEM IS REALLY GOING TO DRAW THE MARINE LAYER BACK ON. THIS IS A LARGE REASON WHY THE WEEKEND IN GENERAL IS LIKE 10 DEGREES COOLER THAN THE LAST FEW DAYS YOU'VE HAD. IT'S GOING TO RAIN IN EUREKA, BUT WATCH IT FALL APART BEFORE IT GETS DOWN HERE. WE'RE NOT GETTING THAT. WHAT WE SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT IS THE WARM-UP THAT'S GOING TO BE COMING AFTER THAT SYSTEM LEAVES. LET'S THAT ANOTHER WAY. LOOK AT THE BIG BLOB OF BLUE. THAT'S THE COOLER AIR WITH THAT SYSTEM, BUT WHEN THAT SYSTEM LEAVES WITHOUT GIVING US ANY RAIN AND THE BIG BLOB OF BLUE MOVES AWAY, WE'RE LEFT ON OUR OWN AND VULNERABLE TO THE RETURN OF THE HEAT AND THE TEMPERATURES REALLY START SPIKING. JUST ONE TAKEAWAY ON THIS, ENJOY THE WEEKEND. WE'LL LOOK AT THE SEVEN-DAY FORECAST IN A SECOND. THE NUMBERS ARE GREAT, BUT BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK WE'VE GOT TO START TALKING ABOUT AIL HEAT RISK FOR AT LEAST THE CENTRAL VALLEY, BUT OUR NUMBERS WILL GO UP. IT'S GOING TO BE NOTICEABLY HOTTER IN THE BAY AS WELL BY WEDNESDAY. LET ME SHOW IT TO YOU IN THE SEVEN-DAY FORECAST. WE'LL PICK OUT THE MICROCLIMATES. YOU CAN SEE THE PEAK HEAT AS WE GET TOWARDS WEDNESDAY. THAT'S THE ONE THAT SHOWS UP THROUGH HERE. YESTERDAY WE WERE LOOKING AT TOP TEMPERATURES AT 95 FOR OUR WARMEST INLAND VALLEYS. TODAY WE'RE CLOSE TO 97, BUT IT DOESN'T LAST LONG. AS WE GET TOWARDS THE LATER PART OF NEXT WEEK, THOSE NUMBERS SATURDAY COMING BACK DOWN AGAIN EVEN INTO THE 80s AGAIN. FOR THE BAY YOU'LL
