so this has been described as a match made in heaven and if this was the match made in heaven then this was the game made in heaven it's Magnus Carlson playing with the white pieces here his opponent Ali Resa rouer with black it's game one of the first set of the final of the chessel Masters this is out of this world good exciting and you're going to love the finish so Magnus kicks off here with Pawn to G3 a modest start we've got the clock times on the left it's rapid chest they get a bit of time back per move and it's played online so Ali Resa goes D5 taking the center principal we get Knight F3 G6 Bishop G2 fing ketoing Magna sings at the top of his lungs in his best Pavarotti impression as he feing ketos Ali Resa does the same cons professionals now D4 played Knight F6 and C4 so it's a kind of Catalan thing that Magnus is employing and here C6 castles castles Knight C3 invites some razor sharp chess because this Pawn has been offered up a lot and finally Ali Resa gobbles it up makes it his dinner Magnus doesn't even try and take the pawn back just goes E4 to occupy this entire Center look at the squares controlled but B5 in response holding onto the pawn for dear life this is now the battle so Queen E2 played A5 Rook D1 Knight bd7 and this thing sharpens up so Magnus pushes through the center of the board Into the Heart of Ali resa's position with D5 we get porn captures does Magnus take back no he goes Pawn to E5 he's now two pawns down and this next sequence is more epic than fabby's throw look at that bad boy love when he grows it out hikari's even made himself a little nest in there like a chess bird what does Ali Resa do here B4 I told you it was good because he is sacrificing an entire night Magnus is obliged to capture we get Knight recaptures what's just happened well Ali resa's got three pawns for a piece what a crazy imbalance so exciting the Knight now finds a home on B5 Why didn't it come to A4 we're not even going to go down those rabbit holes it's such a complex game we're going to stick with the main moves here just dive off to the back cave when we need to so Bishop D7 pressures the pony A4 supports it now Bishop captures the pawn takes back E6 on the board look at that for a Connect Four from Ali Resa he wins the side quest Knight D4 centralizing great move using that square opening this sniper and now here many moves B3 rookie eight but Ali Resa goes for the best engine approved A4 and this is the thing whilst it's impressive yes what both players are doing doing it is preparation you just couldn't do all this stuff off the top of your head so what does uh Magnus do here he jumps in with Knight C6 forking Queen and unprotected Pawn not possible to defend B4 so Queen B6 now Knight captures Queen takes Here pawn for pawn and after Bishop D2 defending Knight D7 opening up the sniper well things go nuts from this point Point here because after Bishop C3 covering Knight C5 sorry these moves are normal well now Magnus goes H4 looking for a Counterattack Knight B3 sorry here things go nuts I was a bit ahead of myself and the main way to play here is with Rook A2 because you jump away from the attack you cover the B Pawn and that kind of thing but you keep an eye on this a pawn you know which would be a past Pawn if black captures here and Pawn recaptures but what does Magnus do he takes on G7 King recaptures he now has two pieces hanging how on Earth do you plan to deal with that one well guess what it just gets better because we get Queen E5 check no King G8 or this Pawn can start running threatening to mate and then F6 would have to come anyway in worse circumstances therefore Pawn F6 and now Magnus has a trio of different pieces hanging what an incredible position you sometimes don't even know what to say right you just have to sit back and go speaks for itself because it truly does here so Magnus takes on E6 two pieces hanging you can take either one but Ali Resa picks up this Knight which was threatening to hop dangerously into the center Knight and queen such a brutal attacking force and now Magnus reveals the point of this entire attack here with the exceptional pause if you want to find it swash buckling move of Rook takes on D5 look at that and he's threatening this huge Invasion so if you take the rook in the corner here well this is deadly and decisive if the king comes up the board it actually leads to a Checkmate starting with this siing check if here that's mate if blocks you start taking King wherever the King goes you just rip it open you know many different checkmates if you don't come to G6 and you take more attacking ideas it's just brutal whatever happens and coming all the way back here if you don't step to H6 you go here well now you can take restore the material and you can't even recapture or queen F6 and you getting M like this there's so many recurring problems the black king is too weak brutal stuff so you can't allow whoops this check here so that's why Rook A7 great defensive move covering that rank now Magnus is just in time to save The Rook material Level now except Magnus a pawn down but with an attack Rook E7 hits the queen Rook D7 pins that Rook so this one supports and we start seeing this liquidation Magnus trying to get to the king removing the The Defenders it slides up the board to H6 Bishop D5 that one foring Into the Heart of the enemy position looking for this excursion Checkmate on H7 here with the queen so how does alira react well with Precision he checks King G2 and now look at the accuracy at this point can we just Shout at the players for their 99 plus% accuracy in a position that has been this sharp the whole way through okay let's do this procedure uh block this is first what I do karnick beside himself at what's going on here live on the board so Knight D2 played excellent move only move to keep fighting because now if you go for this mate over here well you are actually the one getting M like this like I said epic attacking Force so no Bishop G8 played instead Queen A7 curing this important Point here now we see Queen E5 hits that centralized Bishop Queen C5 covers and Magnus now gets ambitious because Ali Resa drops back with the King to G7 and it invites Queen A7 check and you could see some kind of repetition but it's not gone for by Magnus he goes Queen A5 hits the Knight on D2 also looking at these pawns but what a response this is I mean it's truly just an incredible game game of the year so far in my view Ali Resa doesn't touch the Knight leaves it there pushes porn to A3 because if you capture the pawn comes here it's one square away from queening and how do you stop that one you know if Queen D1 to hold it and also hold the bishop well you're overloaded as it is but Queen F5 is the absolute strongest how do you stop it promoting you don't so the Knight Untouchable that's why Magnus takes on A3 we see Pawn C3 on the board Ali Resa has rolled out the red carpet here he's in the entrance to the hospital he wants to make his way to the delivery Suite there's a baby girl dued to be born any minute but Magnus goes Queen A7 check the King goes and now Queen C5 the annoying receptionist stopping this from proceeding here get your paperwork done but hang on the porn proceeds anyway it's immune you cannot touch it if captures on C2 Queen takes here with check King H2 so on and so forth you're just a piece down that is no good so after C2 you actually can't stop the pawn what do you do well look at the bar it is technically a level position Magnus starts with a move which is good check King H5 but now here he goes wrong in the time pressure it's an insanely difficult position but if you want to pause try and figure out the way forward here how are your defensive skills so much more difficult than attacking skills right well please do so now the move to play very well done if you found this this is insane G4 check that is good because you draw the king out so if it captures the pawn here's the point you've dragged it to the fourth rank where you can check King goes then you pick up the Knight and you cover the queening square that is the key so even though that one might drop soon doesn't matter you know it's a level end game and if instead the king takes this Pawn same idea but different checking Square still the king gets hit but then the Knight drops Pawn will drop Bishop will drop you get some kind of level end game that was the way to go but Queen F7 played by Carlson targeting H7 but he's overlooked the tiny simple pawn move H6 played and the king is completely safe here G4 is doing nothing for you anymore you can just take here hide out there's no way for the queen to even get back Black's about to Checkmate white so what does Magnus do he's paralyzed his clock's ticking down he flings out Queen D7 in desperation about to lose on time but then resigns anyway he can see the gamees gone Ali Resa about to make that baby girl nothing to be said Checkmate very soon on the way using the extra Queen what an absolute cracker that was and if you want to know the result of the
