college it's located a little north of the tennessee line in kentucky between jelico tennessee to the south and corbin kentucky to the north on i-75 one of its notable neighbors just right next door is the cumberland falls i refer you to my video on the cumberland falls and its headwaters let's take a walk around the courthouse before we go anywhere else i never get tired of these little town squares in these country towns so county named in 1818 for colonel william whitley samuel cox is celebrated as the father of williamsburg the city's first resident and founder cox was instrumental in williamsburg becoming the whitley county seat of government he donated land for a courthouse and offered lots for sale for the formation of the city his home was used as the first school circuit court and courthouse folks it's getting cool this evening won't be cold tonight they say but look at these flares i love it in springtime just won't give up across the street here that's birdie you hey it looks like an old theater up here you know we love old theaters with a barber shop next to it with a real honest to goodness barber pole friends i love these barber poles actually move [Applause] when i was a kid that's a big deal we had one not far from where i lived and i'm sure it worked on different mechanism than that one i mean everything's updated now happy 18th birthday well look you hear what somebody's got on here restore the lane well hey folks i'm 100 percent behind that as any of these old movie houses i think should be restored oh look at there [Applause] [Applause] and this folks although it's now the whitley county historical society and museum is apparently their old depot restored don't as i mentioned at the beginning of the video williamsburg is home to the university of the cumberlands and no list notable mike's barber shop [Applause] which has its own working functioning lit up barber pole thank you mike look at this people they've got the lights on this old old cinema this is such a great treat you see these old marquis and you have to imagine what they look like lit up they've got this one lit up if that movement is still active to restore this more god bless you this is just so beautiful i just love this folks if i could afford it and my wife would let me i would put something like this in my front yard i love these kind of lights i love the feelings i get and the memories from the movies i've seen at my hometown theater when there was such a thing as a hometown theater you know what's neat about this is most of the lights appear to work somebody took some time to do this and somebody's paying the electrical bill so once again folks if this effort is still active to restore this theater check it out and support them i certainly do standing under the marquee waiting on the movie to start waiting to get your ticket to go in if you're close to my age give or take a few years you've got to remember this and you've got to love it oh look at this the brick oven that looks like a great place to eat and they're hits packed i won't invade the folks privacy by videoing through the window with so many people in our eating but it's packed in there it must be a good place to eat or they must be giving it away one or the other wouldn't be great if they light up this old sign maybe it does light up just not tonight well folks that
