A Tale of Two Towns (Harlan KY/Pennington Gap VA)

no you did not click the wrong video this is a tale of two towns penny from gap virginia in harlem kentucky it's just i need to do a little intro to it and i thought i'd take that opportunity to let you guys meet the newest member of our family this is juno and juno is wild i mean she's just completely wild and crazy and dangerous she's just just a wild cat but anyway i won't do a video like this about two towns at the same time for quite a while but it involves a lot of editing and i didn't know if i could get it right i still don't know if i got it right you guys let me know what you think about it in the comments if you like it there's other towns i could do like this pennington got virginia harlan kentucky are separated by state line a mountain and about 24 miles but the people are a lot alike and the towns have a lot of similarities i thought i'd do a video on the similarities let me know if you like it hey friends it's ignited cody and we are in beautiful downtown harlan kentucky right here on main street and this is a tale of two towns harlan kentucky and pennington gap virginia and we're on beautiful main street and pennington gap but you might notice main street in pennington gap isn't too busy that's because in pennington gap morgan avenue carries a most of the traffic through town morgan avenue connects the four lane [Music] that start the ends uh blow johnsville and then picks up again pisce dryden so for all intents and purposes in pennington gap morgan avenue is main street although they do have a beautiful little main street here you're looking at the harlem bypass which like morgan avenue in pennington bears most of the traffic through harlan although harlan's main street is still quite a bit busier than pennington's the city of harlan is the county seat of harlem county which means if you have any county business or state business you've got to come to harlem no matter where you live in harlan county and visit the courthouse or the justice center or one of the other state or county offices to do it harlan has a racks of wendy's the arby's a mexican steakhouse and the portal down here right in town that penny can gap don't have but we're going to concentrate on things that harlan and penny can gap share and one of those things is the huddle house this is harlan's huddle house located right here next to the harlem bypass and the harlan high rise and pennington gap has a huddle house right here next to the calvary missionary baptist church and just off morgan avenue and this is the harlan hardee's right here just off the harlem bypass and next to the harlem family dollar this is pennington gaps hardy's restaurant right here between the odp office and mcdonald's and of course right off morgan avenue harlan's mcdonald's once again right here on the uh 421 bypass to harlem bypass [Applause] across to buy pipes from racks dream furniture and just next to uh big lots and good wheels this is pennington gaps mcdonald's located just other side of hardee's on morgan avenue and harlan right off of the harlem bypass near walmart you'll find pizza hut right there kfc [Applause] and taco bell the yom corporation likes to keep all their businesses close together when they can and of course these three restaurants are basically right next to walmart right there this is panicking gaps taco bell right next to penny gaps pizza hut because like i said the yam corporation likes to keep the restaurants as close as possible now in harlan they have a kfc in their little triad of yum corporation restaurants unfortunately pennington no longer has a kfc but we can hope that the yom corporation will find a place to squeeze one in over here and a little bit of history right up here where taco bell used to be just kind of where their signs at right there there used to be a long john silvers which is no longer here unfortunately did i mention this is uh also right next to morgan avenue here in the pennington across the street from the uh walgreens and this is harlan's el torito mexican restaurant one of my favorite places to eat now i know it's several people's favorite places to eat that's a great place in there and this is pennington gaps mexican restaurant [Music] right down here next to the family dollar in a food city and a fine mexican restaurant it is and this is harlan's chinese restaurant the panda garden located once again like most of the restaurants in harlem not all but most just off the harlem bypass next to food city advanced auto parts a shoe show cato's inhibit sports uh all health care game stop and some other stuff down through there that's the panda garden harlan's chinese restaurant and this is the hong kong buffet fine chinese dining right here in pennington gap as a matter of fact right next to food city and just at the other end of the strip mall from fine mexican dining right here in pennington gallop this too is near morgan avenue and uh wild greens is just behind it that way but that's the hong kong buffet penny from gap's own hong kong hong kong buffet and this is the harlan arh hospital located at the end of the harlem bypass at browning acres and that away will take you to pennington gap and this is the urgent care that is here where the lee county hospital used to be i understand there are still hopes that the hospital will be reopened one day this urgent care is certainly better than nothing and that's what lee county had for a while nothing they also as you've seen they have the heliport or they can provide rapid transportation to those in need of it let's hope that one day this hospital will completely come back to life because this county needs it right here in the village mall you'll find harlan's subway and last but certainly not county
