hello hello and welcome back to my channel i would just like to do a really brief disclaimer if you hear any noise i'm sorry my family's loud our house echoes it's always fun but let's get into the topic of today's video for today's video i recently received a comment i will pop it up and it was asking me to recommend beginner's guide kind of like to why a fantasy novels and i actually recently made a blog post about this recently probably like a few weeks ago maybe a month and i will link that down below if you want to go read i've actually added a few more books to this because i started thinking about more that i feel like are pretty well known in the ya world and that are good to have a base knowledge of with that being said i will not be recommending books like hunger games twilight divergent or percy jackson even though i adore percy jackson and i totally agree you should read it i think that those four books and like harry potter they're just so well known that i feel like most people can kind of grasp what is being said about those books or relate stuff to it yada yada kind of agree on the fact that like everyone has a basic knowledge of those books so instead i will be introducing books that i believe are talked about a lot in the ya world they're probably some of the most recommended books if you've been on book talk they're really recommended on there i actually have a series on book talk that i do um why a fantasy novels i think tiktok would devour if they knew about them and i think i have about 14 recommendations on there so if you want to check that out i'll also link that in the description or i also made a video including i think seven of those books and then adding two more and that'll be in the i card i don't know which side it's on but i will link that as well so without further ado let's get in to these book recommendations shall we the first series that i want to recommend that i feel like is good for any age if you're younger they're older i feel like this is really good basis we're kind of introducing you to the why a fantasy world and that is the selection series by kiera cass and this is pretty much the bachelor but with princes and princesses kind of this is what the first book looks like and we follow a girl named america and it's in a world where it's broken up by cast which is kind of like level systems and each cast is assigned a job pretty much a certain career that they can do and it kind of depends on on the amount of money that they make so the higher the cast the higher the money and in her little like kingdom because there's a prince i call it a kingdom they have a thing called the selection which is where eligible girls can sign up and they'll be picked or drawn i can't remember um out of i don't know out of a bowl and there are some of them and they go and they kind of like compete for the prince's heart america's um kind of in a bit of a crossroads because she signed up for it to kind of shut her mother up kind of you know appease her but she has someone that she loves back home but maybe she's trying to fall for the prince and stuff like that and it's seriously so good i know people don't really like this series because they hate the main character america personally i read this in sixth grade so age recommendation 11 up 12 up like there's really nothing inappropriate in this book in my opinion it's definitely y a so i think it's great for any reader and i thought the plot was really fun it's a super easy read so i think that's a great way to kind of get into the why a fantasy world it's not crazy world building there aren't like elves and fairies it's just a prince and all these eligible lady it's like the bachelor so if you understand that concept you'll definitely understand this one and i would highly recommend it however i'm gonna be a bit controversial actually probably not at all there was another series it's a spin-off called the air and the crown don't read it i despised that series so if you end up liking the selection series you can always try out the air personally it was not my favorite i only bought it in this box set because it was actually cheaper to buy all five than just three if that shows you how well these two did but definitely would recommend the selection series by kiera cass on to the next one my next book recommendation for y a beginners would be the lunar chronicles by marissa meyers and the first book is cinder i'll grab this one out some of these i might not grab out because it's hard to get out of the box but the first book is cinder and i believe they have different covers now but this series is pretty much fairytale retellings with like sci-fi so i feel like it's a really good series for readers to kind of dive into the world because you get some of the fantasy elements some things are changed but if you understand the basic fairy tales that these are told off of then you'll be able to follow the story pretty well we have cinder which is cinderella and and we have so cinder cinderella is the first book then we have scarlet which is red riding hood cress which is my favorite and it's rapunzel then you have winter which is snow white and then you have um ferris this is kind of like a spin-off so the series is actually four and then ferris is kind of about a villain of the story but i think these books are great for any age there's really nothing inappropriate there's a little bit of violence and i have heard that fairest might get a little appropriate i recommended this for like age-appropriate on booktop and some people said that ferris could get a little bad i haven't personally read it but it might be for violence i would assume but i think the series itself is appropriate for like 12 and up i mean honestly 11 and up if you fully understand it the romance is definitely why a so no in like inappropriate scenes if you know what i mean so i would highly recommend this series it's super fun seriously you can find so much beautiful fan art of it and it's talked about a lot because it's so good like cress forever one of my favorite books and this is my comfort series i just love reading it so i would highly recommend this on to the next one the next recommendation i have is going to be stepping it up a little bit and the fantasy department as there are gonna be powers introduced but that is the shadow and bone trilogy by leah bardugo and i'm also recommending this one because the next one i have i think this helps kind of with background info but this book is super interesting we follow a girl named alina and she has to go through this fold which is pretty much like darkness area and her friend gets injured and she realizes that she's powers that she never thought she did she then gets kind of mixed up it says uh she's going to be trained as a member of like the elite thing under the darkling i don't really want to say too much because i can't remember how much it tells you but it is a really good book i think leigh bardugo's next series is a lot better but something that's really fun is this is being made into a netflix tv show along with the next recommendation which i will talk about and it comes out april 23rd i'm not sponsored or anything i'm just insanely excited so go look that up after you've read this but like be careful because there may be spoilers since it's gonna be a tv show so you'll see the characters but it's usually so fun so definitely recommend this on to the next one my next recommendation is one of my favorite duologies of all time and it is the six of crows duology also by leah bardugo and this book is seriously so fun it's talked about all the time and it's also part of the shadow and bone tv series that is going to be coming out i adore this book first of all look at how beautiful these pages are this isn't even a special edition it's just how pretty they are and this book we follow these criminals and ketterdam and they're put on a heist that's going to make them insanely rich if they're able to pull it off and i'm i feel like i'm so bad at describing this book like i don't do it justice but i've so far convinced four of my friends to read it and they've all loved it and if i know sometimes boys feel like it's hard to get into why fantasy i have a guy friend who read this and he really liked it so i would highly recommend it's seriously amazing if you've read it comment down below we can fan girl without spoilers of course but it's seriously amazing on to the next one my next recommendation is an ember in the ashes by saba tahir and this book is really popular and i mean for a good reason i absolutely adored the first book it is i think pretty easy to grasp as it's kind of a twist i believe on the roman empire but there's really not too many magical elements that i can remember pretty much we follow leia who is a slave this is what says that goliath is a slave elias is a soldier and neither is free lyah is trying to save her brother and elias is trying to kind of run away from this world that he has that he doesn't want and their lives kind of combined together in a way that they couldn't have imagined so i would highly recommend this please ignore my family making a smoothie in the background on to the next recommendation the next book i have to recommend is pretty popular on book talk and i personally really enjoyed the first one haven't really gotten around to finishing the other two but that is the red queen by victoria aveyard and this book is a lot of fun it involves royalty which is a super big theme you'll see throughout all by fantasy and it's i just love royalty so much this book is no exception it's of course is definitely amazing and does the royalty element in my opinion pretty well with a bit of a spin it follows a girl named i can't remember her name mare okay it follows a girl named mare and her world is divided up by blood so pretty much the red blood are like the common people and they're kind of not treated the best and then the silver blood are the royalty and the elite and they have powers that's what separates them from the others however something happens where mayor ends up kind of right in the middle of a royal activity we'll say and shows that she has powers even though she bleeds red and so to cover it up the king pretends that she is a long lost silver princess and betrothed her to one of her sons his sons but trolls are one of his sons and the story goes from there i really like the first one i think i finished it pretty fast and i know people who absolutely adore this series so it's always talked about and i just think it's definitely like one of the why a basics to kind of know when you go into the ya world so would recommend on to the next book the next book i have to recommend is the cruel prince by holly black and i'm sure you've probably heard of this one it's insanely popular as are the rest of the two other series that i'm going to be recommending but it's for good reason and this book is so much fun it might be a bit more confusing than the ones that you've read previously as it involves um faye which are pretty much like elves kind of anyways you'll see when you read it but this book we follow oh why am i so bad with names today this book we follow jude never mind don't look we follow jude and her life has been interesting when she was younger her two parents everyone has typically two parents what am i saying her parents were murdered in front of her and then she was dragged by the murderer to the fairy world is a fair fairy i've read too many books the fey world yeah oh the court of fairy do i know what i'm talking about drive to the high court of ferry where she's kind of had to hide a little bit but jude does not want to hide like honestly this girl could take over the world i did a whole review on her you can check it out on my blog but this book is seriously super good it's pretty much just her trying to find her way into power and i love it plus there's romance enemies to lovers which is a trope maybe i'll do a video on tropes if you would like to see a trope video comment down below because i've i love tropes so but yeah this book is super interesting and people talk about it a lot so it's definitely like a basic one to read that you need to add to your collection so you can further understand conversation with fellow readers definitely recommend now on to the next one we are now moving into the zone of big boy series which means it's more than four books okay so be prepared the next one is the mortal instrument series by cassandra clare and this is my sister's beautiful collection isn't it pretty this series is really popular cassandra clare actually writes a bunch of popular books but i would recommend starting with these as i believe these were the ogs so you read these but some of her other books have like histories to this one but this was the first series i believe that she wrote but i would start with this one this is the only one i've read and they are super fun we follow a girl named clary i'm pretty sure i remember her name and she figures out that there are kind of like demons and monsters in her world and so i feel like it's pretty easy to understand but it is a big series it's six books and it's fun throughout all of it they did make a movie and also a tv show i thought the movie was all right and the tv show i haven't seen but we follow clary as she kind of like figures out the worlds of demons and kind of like where she fits in that they're shadowhunters and they have like cool tattoos if you've seen anything like that it's from this series that they have black markings on them it's honestly super fun and i love the kind of world that they've built with it but i put this more towards the end because it is six whole books still would highly recommend and it's super talked about plus i think if you read this one and you end up really liking it there's like what two or three other series that you could read so would i highly recommend now on to the last recommendation the last recommendation i have for beginner ya readers is one of the biggest series i've ever read and i absolutely adored all of it and that is the throne of glass series i have the miniature collection which is really nice because i can splay out five of them um there's eight but it's seriously worth every read it's so hard to explain because seriously this series develops but the first book follows selena sardothien who is an assassin and she's kind of pulled out of the dungeons to compete in the competition that the king has held to become his own assassin and so it follows that it's super fun but i promise you i know some people struggled a lot with run of glass isn't that beautiful like it's so cute um with throne of glass but it it developed so much please i beg of you get to the third book if you get to air of fire and you still don't like this series after you've finished it then i still think you should read it but you could stop however i do have some way that i believe you should read it and i know some people say that this is like a 0.5 book people read this in weird ways you read after the third book they read it at the end no i'm not one to get controversial and like everyone has their own opinion but mine is right um i'm very passionate that this book assassin's blade should be read as the first book it's a bunch of well a bunch of short stories but they come to play okay and it's like a prologue to this one so you fully understand what's going on in here after you've read this some people say to read after the third or read it at the end but i beg of you read it first okay you're gonna thank me later it'll make the book so much better as you go through it like seriously it's so good read it first and then read throne of glass because this series is honestly amazing it's a big series to commit to each book's pretty huge i know these books look small but let's look at empire charms this is the fifth book this book is 676 pages but don't let that scare you like i i promise you this is seriously one of my favorite series of all times so i would highly recommend it it is the last one i'm recommending because it is such a big book but it's talked about all the time so it needs to be read it should be red it deserves to be read it's so good yeah read it please that is all for my video today i really hope that you enjoyed these recommendations i was trying to figure out what books are talked about a lot and kind of like are the base of the y a fantasy world i hope that you pick up one of these books and give it a try they are seriously all amazing i will link the goodreads link down below along with the rest of my socials so if you would like to find me on tik tok pinterest or my blog i will link that down below on tick tock i do as i said those why a fantasy novels i think tic tac would devour if they knew about them and i recommend some underrated series if you are interested in that and i really hope that you enjoyed today's video i had a lot of fun and i love making videos that you want to see so comment down below for any other videos or recommendation things you'd like to see and if i feel qualified to make them then i will that is all for today go pick out one of these books please and happy reading
