On the third battery, glad that was covered by warranty. Hope the Model 3 Battery is more reliable since it’s not unlimited miles.

KBB needs to revise their formula for EVs to not weigh so heavily on mileage.

How much more do you think your costs would have been under a warranty with mileage limits, not unlimited miles?

At 00:00:22.

... it's not the highest mileage Tesla in the world.

/u/Haniho, when you make a special effort to emphasize your claim in the title by shouting "HIGHEST", you ought make a special effort to give us all an apology for posting a false title.

There was an uncomfortable amount of basic repairs made...

Basically what I got out of this video was.. Dont ever buy a Tesla outside of its warranty...

The 0-60 is still impressive 4.7s an ICE car would never perform like that after 450,000 miles.

hey everybody how's it going my name is hidin and behind me is a 2015 Tesla Model S with 447 thousand miles on it we got it in 2015 and we're using it for test loop so it was driving between LA and Vegas and LA and Palm Springs in LA and San Diego for over three years and we were doing over 17,000 miles per month at its peak and so well it's not the highest mileage Tesla in the world Titan II there is a Model S in Europe with a few more miles we wanted to show you how the exterior has held up how the interior has held up what maintenance the car is required and how it drives so come with me let's check it out [Music] so I wanted to start by showing you around the front of the car because this is where the majority of the cosmetic wear and tear occurred and note that this is the original white paint not the more premium multi coat and so it may be more prone to little rock chips and dents I'm not sure I haven't had much experience with the more layered paint but definitely there's a bunch of small little rock trips throughout the front here and if you come in really closely you can see that this entire area on both sides it's almost speckled with a immoveable coat of dust and dirt and if you step a few feedback you really can't see it but as you get closer you can definitely see that it's a little bit more worn and on the bottom here there's some scratches along the bumper on the side some of these are caused by human errors we've had over 800 different pilots driving this car so a lot of different people have been in it but there's clearly some that's just standard wear and tear from driving approximately 7500 hours and so because this is a 2015 built in tune it's the one camera autopilot so Hardware one and the cameras held up well there's been a few issues with the sensors that are around the car they sometimes fall out occasionally you need to get them replaced at Tesla but even in the current condition of they're at you can see some are a little indented they're still functional and so we're gonna link the entire maintenance records down below you can see everything that we've had replaced and if we paid for or if it was good willed by Tesla and just full disclosure we don't have any additional agreements with Tesla for maintenance warranties this is the standard bumper to bumper in the beginning and the extended eight year unlimited mile drivetrain and battery warranty so I'm sure what a lot of people are really interested in is maintenance and the battery is in degradation and the drive trains and really just how is everything mechanically held up well in total the maintenance cost over the four hundred and fifty thousand miles was just twenty seven thousand dollars and that may seem a little high at first but when you consider the fact now that's under six cents per mile that's a really low operational cost and so this car is currently on its third high voltage battery the first was replaced at a hundred and ninety four thousand miles due to a battery chemistry issue as well as some negligence on our part for going from zero to a hundred every single day to maximize range and then the second battery went out at three hundred and twenty four thousand miles and that was really due to a battery assembly issue and so both of those were replaced under goodwill from Tesla through the eight year unlimited mile warranty and so now we're on the third battery and this is actually a ninety kilowatt battery and so it was updated on the front dash and you can see that here and this battery is now but in the car for one hundred and twenty six thousand miles and charges to about two hundred and sixty eight miles at a hundred percent or about nine percent total degradation now if you look at the graphic here you can see that the degradation on the first battery was approximately 1.2 miles of range lost per 10,000 miles driven and at that point we were driving it up to 17,000 miles per month then well the second battery lost around 4.7 miles of range per 10,000 miles driven we were only driving at about 10,000 miles per month and it wasn't even being driven for about eight weeks which makes it very clear that something was wrong with that battery and then lastly the third battery which were currently on has lost about 2.4 miles of range per 10,000 miles driven and we were driving this car about 12,000 miles per month until October when we then started renting it out to people and having it be driven about 2,000 miles per month but it should be noted that we're very worried about drawing any real conclusions from this very small data set as there are many factors involved here however we will release a far more quantitative video with a richer data set regarding battery degradation in the near future and so the front motor was actually replaced at I think 20 something thousand miles and that was due to a failure in the part but the rear drivetrain in the new drivetrain has still been in there for over 420 thousand miles and they're still running really strong will go and show you how it drives in a little bit so if you look at the driver's seat you can see that there's a reasonable amount of wear and tearing of the stitching on the left side bolster and when you recline back and forth the seat it does make a little bit of a sound and this is after the seat assembly had been replaced but if you look at the passenger seat there is far less wear and all the mechanics still work and it is on the original parts and same with the glove box that still works but you can see when you press the button it comes down very aggressively [Music] you can see here it's a little bit loose on the hinge here this is the original glove box by unit so it hasn't been replaced but it may have too soon and so also these cup holder cover elbow rests they're still fully functional to slide back and forth no problem so I also wanted to show you my favorite part of the car which is this executive rear seat option this was only available for a few months in 2015 and it cost five thousand dollars but I think it was very worth it to get the two bucket seats in the rear instead of the three seater bench seat and as you can see the seats have held up incredibly well this is where the majority of people were sitting and so it's a testament to the quality of these back seats and it's such a shame that they discontinued this due to lack of demand but there are a few negatives of having this package where you have an immovable center console here so you don't have as much leg room if you want to lie flat that's not possible there's no 12-volt or USB back here so you don't have any charging of course in the model lessons you don't have any coat hooks either back here so it's kind of like a lower level executive rear seating and so of course having been built in June of 2015 these seats are the genuine leather so is the steering wheel this was before the vegan interior was introduced so we wanted to take you into the car and show you how it drives and I think that is the only car that I can confidently say drives better today that it did three years ago and after four hundred and fifty thousand miles and that's due to the over-the-air software which has updated the car with autopilot so when we first got it in 2015 it was completely without autopilot and now it has auto steer adaptive cruise control and some of the other features that are available with advanced auto or enhanced autopilot with hardware one and just the general driving feel of it is still really good there's no rattles like the Model X sometimes gets the pedals are still very resistant they're not loose at all and the steering is just like new I think it would be very hard to tell if this car has this many miles on it if you didn't know and then one other thing is there are a few minor places where you could tell where if you look at the turn stalk when you're pushing it all the way down and back up it's a little bit less smooth than it was when it's new if you're playing around with the map on the screen over here you can see that it's a little bit laggy the frames don't adjust quickly as possible but I think that's an issue with all older gen Model S's and X's running new software not due to the high miles at all but it's just an interesting thing to keep a note if you'll be purchasing a used model S or X with the most recent firmware so we wanted to figure out how much Kelley Blue Book would value this car so we put in all of the information and it turns out they think that it's worth about fifteen thousand dollars so we're really interested to hear from all of you how much would you pay for this nearly half a million mile Tesla and of course thank you so much for watching this video we really appreciate it and you hope that you learned something and begin to understand how well these Tesla's hold up at high mileages and of course if you have any questions please let us know in the comments below we'll try to get back to you as soon as possible and make sure to LIKE and subscribe because we're gonna be putting out a bunch of really interesting content in over the next few weeks so stay tuned for that and have a good one [Music] you [Music]
