[Music] I give a [Music] back [Music] yeah yeah [Music] I fresh bone burnout car I'm here with Matt Watts this build's pretty special mate yeah um this this one means a lot this car so to have it here and and um be able to rip a cover off it means it means a hell of a lot to me and I'm sure it means a hell of a lot to other people in within our world our burnout World absolutely Nick's very well loved in the burnout scene this was Nick's car it's changed hands a couple of times since Nicks owned it but now it's in your hands and you rebuil it and I have no doubt you're going to give this car you know I was going to say a hard time but that's what burnouts are all about but what's the plans with the car give us a bit for people don't don't know the combo because a lot of it is very fresh yeah well um yeah obviously I made no sick around at being Nick's car Nick Nick was a made of mine um I met him at the very first summon out I ever went to and I was there when this car first came out from Gus boy um first bought it out blown small h s small block combo Nick bought it put the blown LS combo in it what whatever um I was I've been in I was in chats with Nick from 2017 um about buying this car um so yeah circumstances were never never quite right financially or whatever but um about four five times lucky I ended up back with the car and it means a whole lot more now Nick's unfortunately no longer with us but um I can I can hopefully keep his legacy alive but I've also tried to put my own twist on it um so I bought the car as a roller uh it's got what essentially was the bones of blowup combo in it so it's a 53 board 57 LS U blown power glide I changed a lot of things pretty much short engine up I changed a lot of things so yeah now it's mechanically injected um yeah pretty much changed the whole car front to back rebuilt it front to back um it it was very tied after a lot of years few different hands of of been in the burnout world and um yeah had to make a lot of things fit going mechanical it was always an EFI car um but yeah mechanical now and and um it seems to be pretty happy and pretty angry it's a little bit like blow up but it's much cleaner you you've been the first person to say that blow up was you know pulled out of a padic this is pretty much the way you'd always imagine probably blow up to be but here we have blow yeah well blow up was the car that was never supposed to be I got given that shell and I build it as a piss take taken taking the piss out of my mates with the ls and that was the whole idea with blow up because obviously I'm 202 guy from way back blown six cylinder man yeah blown six cylinder and I used to always hang Sho on the boys with ls's and and that's why blow up had the name blow up because I thought LS junk WS blow it up um that was built with spare parts in from my shed and it was it was really rough around the edges and it sort of got to a point where it developed very quickly in terms of it ended up with a blower on it and it was going really well I was competing at a decent level for the car that it was but yeah sort of got a little bit out of hand and it was time to build up a much better car cuz you did start using the car for a few power skids and hitting speeds of over you know double ton yeah um P skids in Darwin pic Basher yeah P skids in darwi real open and we clock one in on the GPS speed well over 200k an hour and in a car that was uh pretty rough around the edges it sort of was a bit hang on I think it's time I think it's time now that uh we build something a bit safer and something that actually has brakes when we end up in the in the gravel trap at down that's got a 1.2k long straight you knew that uh maybe it's time for a few [Music] [Music] upgrades what are some of those upgrades roll cage being one yeah yeah so obviously I was lucky enough in terms of the Fab work of this car was already done it was done from back in the day uh it was originally a drag car back before Gus boy had it even so um yeah it's got a pretty extensive roll cage throughout the car which which massive tick um and it's got like and n and Silvia front end so big a lot bigger braks and and stuff than than what I called with a BMX BMX push bike brakes that were on the other Corolla so yeah so it's just much better set up good good front end good rear end roll Cades brakes everything so this this car is is uh designed to do what I want it to do now I have no doubt it'll probably you be steering blow up very well around the country mate at many events this will probably feel a little bit tighter a bit more crisper on the pad yeah well I hope so the the unfortunate part blow up was so much fun because I did not care about it one bit so you'd push the limits a little bit you you know if you found yourself in a tight corner you weren't so worried whether you turn left or right because the consequences weren't uh that that bad but this um should probably come up a little bit prettier than I would have thought originally and um I'm not going to say that I'm not going to treat it the same way but I I'll be a little bit more conscious of the concrete walls I suppose oh no you won't I know you mate you once you're out there it'll be on yeah the uh the rush comes across and uh you forget all else you you forget to look at your gauges and you forget about any care in the world other than smashing a set of tires and getting a fist out the out the window for the crowd tell us about the color we know it's a factory holding color we've seen on many of your cars before yeah so um Sunburst gold is a jam um factory color it's the color of my LJ tan um and sort of once again when when I built blow up it was a bit of a piss take and that's why I pain it the same as the tan uh so yeah a lot of my M started then calling it watsy gold I got a boat painted the same color like every everything I got is black and gold so blow something yeah and it has to have a blow number plate which unfortunately leads to be costly because then you got to put a blower on it um even my even my Tiny's got a blower on it so um yeah it got to be blow and it's got to be black and gold to fit in around my my shed what's the first comp uh so do some demos this weekend hopefully all going well and then uh after brashing nuts next month um and then we'll we'll get on the road and we'll try and squeeze in as many as many comps as we can between now and and the end of the year uh obviously now I've got the car to do it I'd love to try and snag a at least a wild card if not a golden ticket for summon outs and skid amongst the best skid with me mates and and see what we can lay down come January next year I'll say it first mate for you to win summon outs in this car I'm not putting the pressure on would be unbelievable what a legacy you know like it would it would hit a lot of people a that would be dreams come true but you know I'm I'm pretty um realistic and that's a fair cry but you never say never at the end of the day if if I got there you're just going to do your best to put on the best show for me that's what it's about putting on the best show having as much fun as you can and if the results come your way one day well you know I definitely wouldn't complain but um I'd never expect it put it that way well the dream is to be there in the final no doubt that's always a win and like all you guys say in the burnout Community going to an event pushing the driving the car back on the trail he about to say pushing the car that's that's a total opposite of what you don't want driving the car back on the trailer is the win right yeah well like just competitor yeah just to be there and if if you could make that final 1015 on the Sunday or S AO these days um obviously that's sort of the Pinnacle um there obviously one guy amongst probably 50 60 Pro cars that are across the country that are a chance throughout the year to get there um but yeah so if you could sort of make that top 10 15 and drive the car on the trailer at the end end of the day and and put on a good show for me it's about putting on a good show and having fun doing it that's why I started doing what I'm doing you ever get a result go your way well good and well but having a good time doing what you're doing to me is more important than anything else it's all about the mates the camaraderie you know something breaks someone's always helping you know in the pits is where you see all the you know the goodness it's yeah well that's where to me I I follow the scene as hard as I do because some of them some of the people that have now become some of my good mates are dudes I've met through the car scene you know and um those relationships the times's away you know it's not just at the comp it's after the comp you might out the pub or whatever and some of those times are the best times you'll ever have and some of the best people you'll ever have it could be your closest rival but they'll be the first one to lend your hand if goes south and and to me that's why I I am so deep with the cars is cuz mate ship is such a big theme of it like even building the cars getting mates involved it means a hell of a lot even if it's a mate come over to have a beer and encourage you while you're doing it or a mate come over and lend a hand with part Services skills whatever having mates around you that's what makes it so speaking of the legacy of the car comes from exactly that yes 100% like like I said you know my very first sumon outs on at ni and become close to him so um to to be able to get the car back I'm not going to lie the day that I that it got dropped off at H join I sat in the shed that night and I I probably had a few uh welded up welded up eyes and and even ripping the covers off just before and talking about it gets me a little bit emotional because to me like if I was ever not here one day I'd want my mates to do the same yeah but in in this inst since burnout plays second fial to you know the the goodness of what this is I want you to go out there and rip it today mate it's only a demo but we want to see some some some smoke yeah well til's already warned me probably four times she called me to say hey Matt just reminding you it's just a demo but I can't promise nothing because once I get out there I'm going to be that excited that uh yeah the the accelerator's going to be buried and um we're we're going to put on a show or I could break something and be a massive flop because I haven't had a chance to drive it yet so we'll see how we go we'll see how we go all right all right thanks Maddie good luck with the car this season man no thank you very much guys and uh thanks to the motorx for giving me the opportunity to bring it here and show it off for the first time once again it it means a lot to me this car and I'm sure it does to a lot of people within the community so um to be here is pretty special and I and I hope I'm doing the big fell proud once he's coming down the second he's going to pump some toyss you love to see it blow him [Music] [Music] yeah w [Music]
