9/22/19 Mountain Shadows with Michael English

I turned 50 I decided that I wanted to go to sing in the mornings anymore but I I'd do it for my friends it's just it's just one of those things I never warm up you know you you're supposed to as a singer I never got lessons to sing it's just my dad said saying I said okay and so I don't sing correctly and at least I don't think so and so warming up it's not been easy for me I really didn't have to warm up until I turned 50 and then and then I started thinking maybe I should and so I tried to do that this morning but I didn't get up into about 30 minutes ago so but I'm I love coming here this is a one of the most beautiful churches I've ever been in in my life and and and I love coming and been a part of this family and last night we had dinner your pastor and his beautiful wife made me and my friend steak potatoes and green beans and salad and I have never had a steak that tasted like that before and it was so good and it had plenty of fat on it which I love fat on steak and and I see he brought this this morning I saw mrs. Dale seasoning if you guys had this before I've never had and it was the best taste and I'm taking this home right there just don't touch it though seriously that's awesome and I'll tell you a quick story speaking of family states growing up my dad you know taught me some good things we also taught me some bad things too and which is eaten fat on steak and and we were having dinner one night and it's a true story just came to my mind thinking about the fabulous date but we were having dinner in and my my dad cooked two steaks on the grill and then the I was eating my piece and I got a piece of gristle and I chewed it and and I and I said this is not fat this is bristle so I put it on the side of my plate and then my dad looked over and he says are you going to eat that and I said no so he picked it up and he chewed on it they said that didn't have a bit of flavor to it I says because I didn't shoot it all out he he didn't speak to me for two days I told that at this Bureau because he would've loved that but I miss my dad and I miss my my mom and dad and I want to do a song Kevin I'm gonna change it up and I think you know what I've learned it I try to tell people there where I go that if your parents are still alive you better live home as much as you can because we're not promised tomorrow and I did this song my mom and dad's funeral which was the hardest thing so goodbye like yesterday and I don't know universe rather I don't know what people who do not believe in Jesus and eternity how they deal with death because I know and you know and we've heard this as Christians all my life Jesus is coming soon and those of us who know him will see our loved ones again and that's Comfort to me and so I just I pray for the people who need either the word and need to know Jesus for so many reasons but at least for further especially knowing that when we say goodbye it's not forever or do it one more song and then you're going to come up and do you're going to come up and sing a few songs right don't you're gonna bring this one and I say that to say this that I may not see you guys again on this earth but if you know Jesus and I know I do we'll meet again [Music] [Laughter] [Music] three or so when I the ages Oh see Jesus for [Music] I [Music] as I chair the gates [Music] chill man [Music] to but I see I Oh Oh do you know morning [Music] see no hurt again Oh all right thank you so much my brother you reminded me of the 27 years ago today if your fourth-grade that young you can go to children's church at this time you know the does remind me of some 27 years ago I lost my son 27 years ago and seven months after he went on to be with the Lord I went to the Omni and I saw like something called Chu Volante some of the biggest gospel singers were there the Gators and a lot of folks and Michael came up on the stage and he sang that song I bow my knees and I cry holy and he sang that song and I thought about my little boy I thought about how I had put that on his tombstone that he was in God's hands and I visited it as the pastor preached his funeral he quoted David in saying that he will not return to me but I will go to him and I guess that was the first time in my life that I ever tried to write a song I was inspired by this song that Michael sang that touched my heart that reminded me about heaven and he gave me comfort just as Michael has already said gave me comfort because I knew we got to shout it out but my little boy was in heaven he was in God's hands I remember when Taylor died one of the things that they do with babies is they with the parents to hold that child to help them with the healing process to know that they're gone I wouldn't hold Taylor I wouldn't call him because I told them I remember that day telling that nurse it was holding my dead child I said he's not here anymore he's in heaven and Jesus has my little boy today it's amazing to me that through these 27 years I never would have dreamed that I understood onstage preaching of all things but I never would have thought that I understood before church and preached a sermon after Michael English sing that song he's inspired me and he didn't even realize it but 27 years ago after I heard Michael I wrote a song about how my loyal into heaven Nina Phyllis initative I sent it to him and you know what with all the things that were happening in his life and how God was blessing him and elevating him and awards were coming from the north and the south and east and west he was singing all over the world he took the time to write me back the little letter or a little note and telling me that he was sorry about my loss and he told me the truth but he said I don't write songs because I was wanting him to co-write with me and he has incurred I met him I guess in person about seven years ago because this guy right here we were doing a tour tenacious faith in Memphis Tennessee where he plays safety for Memphis Jeremy Williams within an event a big Sheriff's there's about 1700 people there that night and that's where I met Michael when I'll be honest with you some of y'all here had somebody that you were a fan of when I saw Michael walk in and they have a couple of security guards on both side I felt like Elvis had walked into the Hilton and I didn't know what to say to is like hey don't tell him what he needs to do to them I don't want I don't want to tell him anything so I if I was able to talk to Kevin little scared talk to Michael but it was through charity sharing tenacious faith that I actually contacted Michael told you about what we were doing and he came and was part of that and many people make decisions that very first spent I remember that God's been doing some new things in our church up and telling mindful about that a couple months ago in the middle of Canada I guess the latter part of June the Lord gave me something to share with our church says in isaiah 43:19 i'm doing a new thing and now it springs up do you not perceive it the Lord had pressed out on my heart and I shared it with you and that Sunday somebody got saved and next Sunday somebody got saved next Sunday somebody got saved and a couple of weeks ago we baptized nine people that have been saved we've had some people saved over these last few weeks and I look out and I see some of you who have given your life to Jesus Christ I'm doing a new thing now it springs up do you not perceive it you know the verse prior to that verse and isaiah 43:18 now i'm not quoted over the last couple of months but the Bible says forget the former things do not dwell on the past I am doing a new thing now it springs up do you not proceed once upon the time Jesus spent the entire night praying he came down from the mountain and he began to teach and they said before he began to preach that sermon on the mouth as we know it the people all tried to touch Jesus because power was coming from him and when they would touch him they were healed people who have had things that had got ahold of them maybe in their mind just evil things and I found in my life that sometimes where there is a strong anointing and there's some power of Almighty God I found in my life that there's all always often evil there and there's things that are trying to pull people down and we talked about it last week is often times the battles that we face in life a lot of times it's in our mind men there's people left and right I look around and I see in this world that we live in and I see how suicide is something that is a growing epidemic in America and across even the world today people have just beat down and sometimes when God does something good I'll tell you something the enemy often will try to pull us down and he'll remind us about how he defeated us in that time in our life for maybe over here when this happen in our life and Jesus is speaking today Jesus is speaking to someone the power of the Holy Spirit is speaking to someone today the Father the Son the Holy Spirit this morning I found myself reading once again the great Sermon on the Mount we look at it and we looked at it and we and Jesus began this great sermon after people were being healed he began to preach and he said blessed are the pure in spirit blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven but those who mourn for they will be comforted blessed are the meek for they will inherit blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of God we know those as the Beatitudes and if we look at that and we look at that and we said it about that word blessed it is happy are those happy are those happy are those who are born spirit and we know my last couple of weeks we talked about what that word spirit means it means apart from God we can do nothing you see until we realize in our life that we are all spiritually poor if you see one part from the Lord we can do nothing if you want to be happy in your life and Jesus wanted the folks should be happy he wants us to be happy today he wants us to be blessed today you see his beatitude so so much different he's talking about attitude and her attitude should be it's so much different than what the world says the world says some people you see baby they tell you that if you if you beautiful then you're gonna be happy and you're gonna be admired if they were to rewrite the Beatitudes today it would say something like happy are blessed are the wealthy for they have it all happier popular for they will be loved happy our blessed are those who are famous because they will be followed but Jesus says opposite of what the world says it's so much different you see it's so much different to not stand it up and beat your chest like Tarson and say you know what apart from the Lord I can't breathe today a part of the Lord I know I can do nothing today you may think that you might be good at something and maybe you are pretty good at it but I won't tell you something without God none of us to do anything today he's everything that we need today he wants us to be changed today but oftentimes were unwilling to change because we keep looking back and God says how I'm gonna do something to do in you God wants us to change our attitudes you see when you change your attitude something new it's on the way blessed means happy and happy is the man a woman that realizes that we are spiritually poor and apart from the Lord we can't do anything I hope that you get that call somebody else a you keep saying that if you see when Monday morning start to do the morning starts and you begin to go through some of the struggles that we often go through I want you to know they don't to begin with Jesus because apart from him we can do absolutely you see God is able to touch us and God is able to touch you God is able to lead you and guide you and direct you and encourage you and I believe he wants to do something new if someone here today and I found in my life that God speaks when he speaks and I believe he wants to speak to someone today when God speaks myth things take place when God speaks new things take place
