foreign [Music] hey guys welcome back to my channel welcome to today's video on simplifying your life I'm Gonna Give You nine easy tangible ways to simplify your life today and before we begin I want to just say kudos to you for being here and for showing up the way our culture is going it's just constant achievement climbing up the ladder excess you're never content until you have the next thing and to focus on simplifying and living a life with purpose and intention even if that means you're not getting what you want all the time you're walking in the other direction and I just want to say keep going it's so much more beautiful and fulfilling over here to live a life with intention Simplicity and contentment than to always be chasing I've been there and it's it's miserable and that's why I'm here on YouTube sharing all these things because I just want to tell everyone there's a different way to live and one that's fulfilling and just life-giving so let's start I hope you enjoy that because this kind of is my job and um yeah I hope you enjoy it let's get started all right number one not really a Hands-On thing but it's so important if you want to start simplifying and changing your life you have to get to know yourself grab a friend grab a piece of paper go on a solo walk I ask yourself questions like what do you like what takes you off what makes you feel really really happy and joyful what makes you smile what makes you calm down what do you enjoy doing ask yourself these questions enjoy asking yourself these questions what I'm seeing all the time is that people don't know where to start when it comes to simplifying because they have lost sight of what actually means something to them they're so focused on and I'm saying this coming from someone who was there so focus on getting the next thing on being happy if this being content if this and I never got anywhere I just kept chasing and it was miserable honestly it made me a sick human being so ask yourself these questions get to know yourself enjoy it feel the freedom and answering however you want and then start formulating the rest of your life around the answers to these questions you'll see life simplify when you actually know how to answer them honestly number two control your phone do not let your phone control you again coming from from someone who was stuck in that trap for a very long time here are a few simple ways to start controlling your phone because I run a business and a lot of it stems from being on social media and being present there so I had to set up some good boundaries so that I was in charge okay number one turn off your notifications and this is for work for people for calls I put my phone on silent often and when I'm ready I will respond I find that when I'm doing my work when I'm mothering when I'm cleaning the kitchen and I'm responding to dings and phone calls and whatnot it takes me two hours to get the dishes done and so I'll respond when I'm ready you can turn on emergency contact so whenever my husband calls it will ring no matter what mode my phone is in same with my mom number two delete excess apps it just causes visual clutter you need Simplicity in any way you can get it so that's just an easy way to do it number three plug your phone in a different room at night so that you're not tempted to waste time scrolling in taking excess information we've already done that throughout the day you don't need to keep doing that to yourself it also allows for good quality time in the bedroom I love what it did to my husband and I's relationship we talk more we played cards we enjoy each other's company win-win-win number three super practical thing you can go around and do today is get rid of doubles get rid of double aprons double chapsticks double scissors double shoes double shirts anything that's a double you're just holding on to it because of some underlying fear that's just my opinion and I said that because that's why I would hold on to things well if I lose it I need something else so I'll never have that color shirt again but that's just holding on to things of this world that just keep us in this trap so go around walk around your room get rid of anything that's a double and donate it I'll just say this it will feel really nice to see that big pile go just super easy no decisions anything that's a red bucket out of there forward gratitude and a simplified life go hand in hand when you're constantly swamped under schedules stuff expectations or even achievement it's really hard to focus on the good because you're always focusing on working so that it can be good what if you knew it was good right now how much less would you be spending how much less would you be worrying and losing sleep over you know so a simple way to do this is text a friend someone close to you your spouse your best friend your mom three things every day that you are grateful for and if you don't feel comfortable doing that write it down you don't have to keep it just take 30 seconds and write down three things every single day and over the course of a year you will notice a humongous mindset shift you'll see things in a different light I say that because it happened in my life I never have heard somebody say if you do this it'll change your life and believed it never never believed it but I did it for an entire year I've been doing it for about three years now and I'm finding myself in places of gratitude so much more than in places of want believe me when I say it really will change your life five another super easy you don't really have to think about this but get rid of any clothes that don't fit you they're hurting you more than they're helping you get motivated they're honestly telling you that the present you is not great you need to do better that's not a great mindset to be in very negative you're putting so many expectations on yourself when we're all caring enough already so just get rid of clothes that don't fit and I I'm telling you it's gonna feel really really nice you just you get rid of that pressure that's just weighing on you all the time every time you open your closet shoes included too I always kept around these really cute heels that never fit me and but what if I need to wear them for a wedding I didn't want to wear them anyway because my feet would hurt just get rid of it super nice really simplifies your life number six you can simplify your life by adding some routines in there and I want to stop before you roll your eyes or anything you can make these routines super simple I had to do that I've I've been there tried to do the Uber productive routines and with kids it doesn't really work that way same with life like you have Ebbs and flows simple routines allow for the Ebbs and flows but they keep you doing the same thing and supporting yourself getting back up for example something super easy that I do in the morning in order to not feel stressed and behind in my day I need my kids to be kind of distracted in the morning and I don't want to turn on the TV so I created a routine of literally the first thing I do when I get out of bed as I set a bunch of our books up on the countertops so when the boys wake up they know they could just go sit up there and read and then I prep breakfast and then the rest of the morning morning is kind of like a normal cycle Feed the Children clean the dishes get them dressed make the beds and it's kind of it all runs together like that but my first two things set the books out and prep the breakfast it can be as easy as that it can be drink your tea read your book drink your coffee read your Bible something like that whatever works for you but setting routines into your life simplify and get rid of that clutter in your mind and the chaos that's really always going on because we're always responding to people and working and on call it's just an easy way to simplify number seven light some candles candles just they have this ability to slow everything down to romance the Ambiance to just like set this intention for the evening just by dimming the lines and adding some candles it's such an easy way to just slow down and pay attention and being present and all of those things are under the umbrella of simplifying your life one of the greatest tools and you can do that tonight you can dim the lights a little bit light a candle and just watch the magic happen it just oh it's so good my favorite candles by the way are the non-toxic brand from Wellness by Ari I will tag her information down below I'm not an affiliate don't make any money from it but it is one of my favorite Brands that's clean non-toxic smells amazing number eight when it comes to shopping here's how you can simplify number one shop ethically like go to your local farmer my favorite store right now is the maid trade I just got an apron some socks and a fanny pack from them and I love them they're high quality they're also ethically made and as soon as you do the work to find shops little shops where you're supporting such a bigger cause than just this multi billion industry of fast fashion and things like that it simplifies your life it simplifies your options and there's intention behind it another tip for shopping is to write down your needs and your wants you can write down your needs at any point during the day you can write down your once at any point during the day but writing them down prevents you from doing that Target thing where you go in for some toilet paper and you come out with two hundred dollars worth of stuff instead what happens to me I write down I need some new socks and I want a new robe but I'm going to Target and my budget says we can only have socks and I wrote them down so my robe over here doesn't get meshed in with the socks it's literally I know they're in different columns you have to do that math work in your brain before you show up in Target otherwise two hundred dollars just gone though in here done that husband wasn't very happy nine are we on nine I really hope it's nine I'm sorry if I got lost simplify your kitchen or whatever is the Hearth of the home in most homes it is the kitchen and an overly cluttered visually but also inside the drawers inside the cabinets kitchen can be really overwhelming and you're starting your day in there so I would say the best place to start we already kind of tackled the closet is um simplifying your kitchen keeping literally what you need not being fearful that if you get rid of it you might not use the waffle maker that you haven't used in two years give it away I promise you a simplified kitchen is a simple life it's the Hearth of the home something just crashed over there I think I need to attend
