hi so today i'm going to show you nice to have accessories for the insta360 1r first i'm going to share with you what insta360 setup i have i have insta 360 1r the 1 inch edition basically i just skipped the 4k entirely and went for the one inch sensor because i think i eventually will upgrade to the one in sensor so i purchased the dual lens 360 mod separately i think less than 200 us dollars it still comes with the lens cap so most of the stores that i asked about they didn't know that it did even the box doesn't say that it has this included so in case you're also wondering you don't need to buy it separately it comes in the box okay so we'll start with the protective gear first is the half frame cage the half frame cage this is from a company called sunny life this for me solves the problem with a one inch sensor being very difficult or taking some time to put in and out of the original key so of course it protects only half of the camera but it has a very snug fit it doesn't slide on and off very easily when you look inside there is some textured rubber at the front or back whichever way you're looking at it and also at the bottom it has holes for the shutter button for the power button and for the micro sd card slot so one problem that i have with it though is that this front panel shows in the footage when you are on the 360 mod so some solution that i had for this is to enable the lens guard stitching when you're post processing or when you're editing your 360 footage of course you have to take note that you will lose some more of the view around the stitch line with this option but for me this trade-off is worth it for the convenience i get when i'm doing run and gun shoots so the next one are these port or connector covers if you have more than one lens mod the connectors are going to be exposed so for the 360 you have the workaround to reverse the lens cap and it somehow covers the lens port but for the 4k mod or the one inch mod you will need something like this so it's a rubber cover that fits perfectly it has all the cavities to fit the connectors like a puzzle and it's kind of a similar concept to the rear lens cap that you would normally find on dslr camera lenses so the next one we have here is the one inch sensor lens cap so it's the same material as the 360 lens cap seems a bit of an overkill because this is already a lens protector but the thing is this lens guard sticks out a lot and if you damage it insta360 doesn't sell this separately so you either have to live with it damaged or you have to go commando or maybe find something from a third party who sells but so far in my case i was not able to find such a thing so the next one on the list is a tempered glass screen protector this is more or less or the slp for any new gadget with the display that you may have so it protects the screen on the core module from scratches the package comes in a set of two i think so for when you mess up the first one you still get another chance or if you break one then you still have a replacement for it it does not affect the responsiveness of the display and it's very easy to apply the next one we have is this zipped hard case specifically made for the 360 module so if you're looking for something with more coverage than the original lens cap this is going to be a very great option so it fits the shape of the 1r with cavities on both front and back for the 360 mod so i think it's going to fit the 4k mod but definitely does not fit the one inch so it's nice to carry around when you need to quickly put down your 1r in those cases that you of course don't want to damage the lens on the back so that's it for the protective now on to some mounting gear so this one right here is the ulandi magnetic quick release adapter so the original mount that goes on the original cage it's clearly not intended for quick mount or dismount so this magnetic quick release adapter frees you from having to screw and unscrew every time you need to switch to a different mounting gear so it's a three-piece set and one ghost onto the camera and you get two options for the receiving end either a gopro mount or a quarter inch thread it does add some weight and bulk to your gear but i think the quick release feature that adds it's is worth the trade off so i think it would be nice to put this on all of the mounting devices that you have so that they're all cross compatible the next one is the ulanzi mini monopod slash tripod it's super compact it extends up to this much and there is an adjustable ball head with a standard knob for positioning just really nice to have in your camera gear it's very nice to hold it has also some rubber texture around the quarter inch thread to keep your camera snug in place i wouldn't trust it in windy situations because of how lightweight it is but for me i used it in most cases that i just needed very low on the floor and not something that i would attach to the invisible selfie stick the next one we have is the insta 360 vertical battery base so it gives your 1r an entirely different look it has a built-in quarter inch thread but it doesn't come with a cage so you need to purchase that separately you'll notice it has a usbc port and a provision for that door this vertical battery base goes for around 50 us dollars so for that amount you'd think that it comes with a very cheap plastic door but it doesn't that's what we have so as much as it's very interesting to have a new look for your insta360 1r in it's in a vertical form it comes with a lot of issues the one r with a one inch mod it does detect the vertical battery and it changes the orientation of the viewfinder and the menus as long as you have the orientation lock disabled so the thing is in this orientation it only shoots in nine by 16 and it cannot be configured at least as of the latest firmware version so what is worse is with the 360 mod if you turn on the display rotation it rotates the icons in the menus but the viewfinder will still be on its side so it's no big deal it's just overall not a pleasant experience when you're trying to pan around the sea if you have the right exposure or if you want to check the stitch lines because it's just seems very unnatural so my suspicion here is that the vertical battery base is detected just as any power supply there's no way for the core to tell it apart from a regular charger or a power bank so i think as of now it's it's no different than having it in a standard horizontal layout and tilting it on its side so the next one we have is the 3.5 millimeter mic adapter so it allows support for trs mic input like the ones on the rode video micro it just opens up a lot of possibilities to attach shotgun mics or even wireless mics like the rode wireless go there are other accessories that i have that i didn't mention yet like nd filters for the one inch some hot shoe adapter once i get to test those out i'll be putting that in a separate video and that's it if you find any of those accessories interesting for you all the links are in the description and if you have any questions let me know in the comments i'll see you guys in the next video
