#85 Whole House Standby Generator Protecting the Homestead - Generac 7043-2

[Music] okay we've got a Generac going in this is going to be helpful out here in the country if any power goes out so yep that's the one in over here so most of the work will be done today putting it into the position and then of course some work is going to be done on the panel but need to Power Company to come out and finish their work so yep a much needed addition to the homestead so stay tuned there's what's the generate what's the Generac boxes the gear load management devices okay and we're going to do is we're going to cut those loads off those air conditioners off if that generators hunger frequency okay all right so this is a 22 kilowatt generator and it should power the whole house but if we have a power outage we should only do critical yeah using more fuel to the the more electrical loads you put on it harder it's kind of run the more fuel it's gonna consume okay you don't know avoid using your drive your stove or any large electrical loads you could use them and the system will automatically cut off either the water heater or the water heater and an air conditioner or all three loads so which have the Box the regulator do just the two compressors and the water heater and that was downstairs right underneath the two panels that's all that okay that's the water heater okay I saw that it's three point nine gallons for our for our full load should that be 200 hours or an 800 gallons oh I see you know I'm just thinking 200 hours well it's said in your brochure for Generac it's on a 3.9 on a full load you know 3.9 gallon that the running order that's been there since but yeah yeah okay so you what's the this hose here is that gonna be it's a flexible conduit that's gonna hold the generator beauty okay alright and then the gas line will be put in by the gas company whenever a deep power comes out to cut off the power alright and then your company will send somebody to for maintenance that's right just give me a once-over and everything everything I need to do when the startup guy comes puts battery in it test the house on it the whole system could be giving you a whole class as well he'll sit up set up your app but he's gonna be the one that's can be able to answer like that fuel capacity question what's the run on a quarter load you know is it just a quarter of that yeah that's gonna be all starve got questions he Oh school of Generac up an A and a B on both of them okay we'll get there left and right on both of them okay hey everyone it's November 16th 2019 a very blustery day hopefully the wind doesn't mess up the audio here but it's a it's a beautiful day Saturday just wanted to give you an update on the generator the oil company propane company came out they hooked up the propane tank which is this tank is thousand gallons they dug a trench copper tubing all the way over here to the generator so the next step is for the inspector to come on Monday and he will give all the good that go ahead to make sure that we get have the generator come out and show us how to use it so in a good place and being November it's not yet severe weather we're gonna have a huge peace of mind with this 22 kilowatt generator and of course plenty of fuel in a thousand gallon tank so stay tuned okay it's Saturday the last Saturday in November 2019 and we have the Generac has been inspected it passed inspection but initially it failed because that gas line didn't maintain pressure and that's because there was just a faulty valve and they came back and fixed that and then the County inspector inspected it and passed it so they filled the trench back in that's to the thousand gallon propane tank and this Wednesday coming up the Generac gentleman is going to come out and he's going to go over everything and I guess they're gonna fill this trench up as well and he'll give us knowledge transfer on how to work and maintain this thing so really excited this gives us a big piece of mind so stay tuned okay we're gonna walk through the generator install okay we'll go ahead and go through the generator yep so once a week this unit will start run for five minutes Tommy you're choosing okay whatever you just tell me I'll program whatever time you want to run usually and someone's here that's why I recommend it it that way you can hear it run that we can hear it run okay so what you do like yeah Sunday six that's my note so that way people do forget literally week goes by they forget okay 6:00 p.m. Sunday you got it every every Sunday at 6 p.m. it'll do a test we just run so fine it just runs the motor it will not affect the power within your home it's not meant to and the reason it runs is to just keep it eat so it's like your car's your course is too long that all these getting cycle through yeah yeah and also it's out of sign of mine you know how many customers have literally told me all have been working just fine it's been fault up about four months okay so they it's out of sign of mine yeah it's not like home or got to be here to here look at your that's a dinner time favorite TV show whatever it is if I meant hey running any I didn't hear the thing you know because it didn't those become white noise eventually people yep so if you don't hear it just come outside and well that's where the lights come into play now so right now oh my side door that what I put it right now that's a red light right yes right now I stuff it off that's why there's a red light but red light is bad okay attach it yet red light that's what's gonna look like you can easily sit in your window super-bright nighttime right that's red light is bad right now I simply have it off the screen will say switched off okay and then within the app it should mimic the same color with screen you push the button there to turn it off yeah this is how you turn off but right now stop it's not gonna do nothing okay greenies good this should always be green light okay that simple is three LEDs here's green a red in the yellow so it won't be full grain won't be full red won't be full yellow just be a little quarter piece or a third piece will be just be that certain coal safe so mine out is green hey that means it's gonna work should work should exercise that means it's not fault it out it should turn on if it needs to look one year from today it will say inspect battery on the screen nothing threw out the battery that is simply a pre-programmed maintenance message from Generac will always come online clockwork weather truly needs it or not I can leave it off for 5 years it will still don't maintenance message it doesn't care it just it always throws it so yellow light will come on 12 months from today with the green light it will still operate don't freak outs not gonna blow up it will still operate as needed what's the yellow light man maintenance ok it will say it will say inspect battery nothing's wrong with the battery I promise you if there's that there's a if there's a battery actual battery issue it will say check battery or low battery very different from inspect battery actually would change that message but they don't okay so but right now see the battery lights a car battery nothing fancy about it right ok group 26 you'll find out Walmart autozone O'Reilly it does not matter where nothing fancy about that battery that battery how highly recommend every four years replacing it ok if we're doing the maintenance on it we can I have a battery tester I can catch it before it goes bad ok once here we come out if you like to we come out twice here as well I should have a metal clean look really are you or you rely on your home office to constantly work yeah that's the entire so you let's do twice here but once there's usually fine for people who just want to generator to keep the food going that's why we do the maintenance on it like what's included oil spark plug the oil filter the battery is not including the maintenance is a separate cause from the maintenance but I guess every every four years when but I could do that main insight a lot of people at least see us they'd like if you know how to do a maintenance which is great that's you're doing better most well people watch it the first time oh that's where that's at okay and they they do it themselves it's not that big of a deal mmm oh no how I'll have it boys a warranty I want it honestly I mean think about what Wolfie Wolfie can't reach you guys though we can't physically reach and you have to do something to it yeah right it's good to know I mean it's not know how its voided but I think like I said the y'all light comes on let's go one year from today yellow I should come on for maintenance um let's say two weeks go by from now yell like pops on take a look at this controller maybe the me maybe that is a bad battery from the factory it's happened that's how I've had a battery last me ten days bad battery no no what the generic just a bad battery cell right it's a hot it's a good possibility so you're saying every so often I should just stroll by and look at the light or you can look at from the windows now if you want the Wi-Fi from the phone you should do it okay gotcha I don't know don't always trust that one app but if the app is showing green you're probably going outside if it's I'm showing red definitely verify is it red on the generator as well does that app actually has been wrong in the past where it was sending the false reports to somebody you know say all your Jerez fault it out we we showed up no it's not faulted out it's never Fault out for that at all there's life so it's not you can like do this take forever but that's you old dream you go take it all the way off that's all you know will drain like that if I do this right now it'll start dry on the ground but it just takes forever I mean we have a little like let's call it um evac pump for oil you can bite once like a drill little ones you just do this with a hold barely it's like 1.8 courts at home so it's not the whole moderator does yes put Lee if you completely emptied it and let's say let's say you completely emptied it bone-dry you dumped in two quarts technically it is overfilled is it overfilled enough to cause an issue no it's like 1.8 9 quarts is like the exact fill level I mean how much is point what one one one quart I don't know why but yeah we'll take care of all that I'll carry what 50 quarts of all all times my ban usually I like eight to eight batteries how many old folks in here for me and some now here's your oil fill that's just the capital what type of oil is it 5w30 synthetic right now there is a break in fluid in it that is meant to be pulled out within the first year or 25 hours if you hit like two days a run time don't freak out it's okay it'll still be Oh it'll be fine and there's the that's where it's right now so it's actual full mark but it's so clean we get a couple hours run on it you like oh I can see it now it'll start getting dirtier sometime that's the whole reason we did this is terrible it's awful I and then we've lost it several times so will you have something when it just goes off for like 20 seconds okay how's that we can okay so this unit from the fact it is set up so if you lost power right now one 1000 count to five it will crank up the generator so it'll count to five first I'll count to five crank it up then I'll run for 10 more seconds and then it will transfer so if you have a 20 second power outage it will actually transfer those 20 seconds okay and then what's the power return after that five more seconds it will run for one minute turn off now if you don't want that I can actually change that timer now if you have a good minute power outage and you don't want to come on I can actually make that not happen I think usually goes that long so I can actually just think what you have is good okay so I continue from a one-second pause to a twenty minute pause right now five it's on it's on a five-second so your power has to be off for a full 15 seconds for it to actually transfer to your home I don't think we knew I can I can actually just it's like a 30-second clock people do that with your scenario they'd go up to 30 seconds so it was like okay 30 seconds per hour now I'll start running okay that's it so I can change if you want me to otherwise I can keep it as a yeah that's good please any question I just so as far as the propane and everything so everything's hooked up so if it's you know ten degrees outside the heats running and the power goes down it'll be that five second way or whatever and then will the heat come back on because the propane is going or how's that work what the heat okay so your heat obviously give gassy right okay so your propane is gonna be no matter what it's duel fuel yeah okay electric first and then okay so it so it'll be a slight delay for your lecture come back on obviously but the propane is gonna be there just wait what so I think I think I know what you're asking so this is nothing more I explained people this is nothing more than a second utility company but you're not paying let your go for it that's how I describe but everything should act the exact same way inside your house TV should not act funky issues just the power use right now is from a generator the size of your house it's a humongous generator that's like this like like I've seen no I mean I'm saying general your utility power comes from a generator huge generator I mean huge so this is nothing more than just your own personal you soda comfy that's why I split the customers yep I know by itself from back here there's a business owner as don't cut off of that so we wouldn't will happen we will never have to interrupt your gas flow getting in your appliance that's all that's it a blue tip the blue one okay that's on fire just let it be this is actually I've seen pictures it was not done by us some company Midwest I've seen pictures if this thing catches fire this box will contain the fire I've seen pictures it did its job very well just if it's on fire just our department stolen go near it it will connect us right now the gas is but it's time back off you see there's a regulator in here that gas is stopped they're there right now there's no gas in this motor there's zero few of this motor the decide back off yeah but you see that green regulator imagine that same thing but a little different size and side here but next the battery okay there's gas at that regulator just waiting to come into it but it is matching that that regulator so these peas are here at the gas lines I can remove those there's no gas in those that Jenna are actually before it's themself off it'll say hey no more fuel and all actually run for about three more seconds to clean all that home fuel out okay there's no point of backfire that's supposed to do this oh let's call oh wait firing with the load management you know we don't intend to run anything like here I mean you can it's making me do it I've seen it that one two five eight seeds in a row they can do it so just wait because also we're putting in a pool and stuff bring so we don't having a pool heater to it then you do a Pleader with it it's just the pulpit okay so if I'm not too much okay that's just the ploy isn't figure that's the figure dealio about it I told you but it's very very easy but all right so behind you these two boxes these are your load modules right now each one five you have one in the garage or inside the home for your dryer correct or yes the water heater only okay so make sure that is honest that's it so right now these boxes I have an orange light that orange like split means you have a voltage a proper voltage go into these units so you lose power which we'll do in this leg watch for the power up to the house we sound acts so when there's a whenever there's a power outage these boxes will go off June when a comes online transfer to the home the lights will blink they'll get theirs failed state there's no the color but orange in those box and I say all three boxes are the exact same okay they're exact same box okay so all it is loose power juror comes online they'll flash once every second that means hey I'm on delay I have good juice I'm on a delay so that is just because if these guys were to tackle the generator at one time it's gonna go home it's like me thrown 100 pounds at you you're gonna fall down stomp on you're not getting up it doesn't it doesn't like it they can't do it absolutely best be one load at a time that's why the box are there for so in it for some reason if you are over traitor it was a number this is number one this to me I put this is number one is that I'm not sure that much one is which late but this one has the most the most important look to you so here's the second most important what happen if the it's a some reason if you did get kicked off if I open the generator number boxing birth three will go off first and the generator cannot recover a certain speed but with us at amount of time number two will go at the number one and then you have to wait half an hour and the box will try to bring it back on again so you're not like out cold forever about like it will always try to come back on your emergency response we do know you're fine you tell me Amy boxes are all messed up no never had the hell I just wanted to war no like I said I've seen some by literally push that generator to the breaking point Mike are you serious right now if this guy drama coffee pot it's overloaded it was a lot you are fun don't be afraid to use it it's meant to be honest I fixed generators the military by literally running the kendama crap out of them because they were so new they'd really I'm like you can live in it for like a few minutes one minute what everyone did make sure it works but those boxes are just there's happy they make the mint there to be middleman for the generator make it nice and have to fill them that you don't got one box they are this is number one number two I'm gonna set the water number three that's okay with you it's not that it does really matter now I want to do is marry if your Wi-Fi to the generator that's it nothing you have to do this is the hardest part your wife I should read I mean that's the only house I see out here so I did see one Wi-Fi so it should reach it says yeah centrally you just pick a picture of this these two stickers will number now when it asks for the MAC address it won't call the MAC address within the window website it will call it a unit identifier okay it will only ask for three special things off the generator zoom number SSID and the unit identifier which is the MAC address so you kind of process elimination you'll figure out hey the SSID website yeah so on the piece of paper there and there yes I'm gonna I'm doing the hardest party right now this may be a pain in the rear if if it doesn't want to cooperate right away all it needs is a little bit of info for the magical space internet and then it'll come to your phone that's all it is if you ever change your Wi-Fi password your router or change your internet provider you have to do this process again which is not it's not hard at all to do if there's even videos on them we got barely any signal jeez that says zero percent but it connected so it's good enough give it a week or two if we don't connect it we'll put a Wi-Fi extender on it well once you're connected actually no but we have to download the app first right now go to the website first once you go to the website because you'll have to because the app is used until you make the account yes that make that email the past that's it that's all you I do because that's and that's the least hardest part of these things all right all right so we're good so you've done all your Quality Assurance to trust me I put my name on you weren't logged yes yeah I put my name on this trust me I know never complain about my startups mostly deal with the with the little control wires I cleaned them up but nothing that's gonna nothing's gonna hold the function generator all right I have my wires clean so now you're gonna perform transfer test all right so this is your dummy switch you can tell because this guy has three wires this guy has all the wires this is the brains this actual is told it's what's in the information of the generator just say hey this is what I got the generator makes use of information it's right now that does nothing's to the hell does nothing for the generator I simply turned off half your house this guy's house half the house so yep so half so this guy here though count to five suo crank one two three [Music] generator say hey I did my job [Music] okay then the first air-conditioner unit went on that was after about a five minute delay [Applause] and then the second one should come on in about 30 seconds [Applause] okay we're going to go over the proper way to turn off the generator get in there absolutely necessary the Frasier wait about a minute [Applause] [Music] buh-bye [Music] now you let it roll drain give it a couple minutes so just you need to turn it off before he absolutely yes if you if you were doing it this will be spitting oil out you won't be like there's pressure it would be like it would be like oh oh little yeah but this is like this treat treat this know no worse in your car it gets around on a 290 BP I think is what turns off for high temp it gets what this is close it right actually self yeah yeah when this is quite this is all air cool on your car look up cold my vans looking cool who uses corn they're cool so the door close this thing actually pulls in a good amount of fresh air okay that way it will trust me I've had my hand up to it it'll try to suck my hand in if you increase up if you a piece of paper it would go so so really doesn't have coolant all I said it's method air for nothing more than a more probably why it's loud or to there's liquid cooled units that run a lower rpm by the toilet price range toilet even B's toy different controller it's a different nothing really there cool these are absolutely fine the unit's yeah I could sleep after a couple days you're like it's white noise alright so to turn it back on simply did your oil check at all we're going to do I see you you're making sure that everything's I have OCD like that right that's good that will take time this oil cap from the factory if you do not make sure it's tight I've had before so there's about a year I think about a year those dos themselves right off and make one heck of a mess yeah yeah I'll say hey I'm low on oil it'll turn itself off I mean this thing will turns to fall for about anything to some local I leave out a carry me we go we were all over the state we have no one we go all of us have been as far as basically to the same you wouldn't be able to get out of here but if the roads are safe did they say go we've got to work we go to work okay I mean truck I drove okay so how do you turn this back on but ring button it will turn on about five seconds Sam
