8 Worst Derelict Space Ships to Board

a lot of that friends welcome back to another episode of generation films my name is Allen no matter how many terrifying movies are made about the dangers of derelict spaceships spacers seem to always forget that important lesson to never go on a derelict spaceship fortune does not favor the bold and you should go quietly into the night and not bored the following eight derelict starships because they are some of the most dangerous places to be in the universe Brad Pitt in a space epic sign me up or at least that's what I thought going into ad astra but instead of seeing all of the cool action and space battles the trailer teased us about we got an artsy look and an astronaut with daddy issues not exactly my cup of tea during Bradford's journey to find his father on the edge of our solar system his ship decides to check in on a derelict Norwegian research vessel role number one a space travel never check out a derelict research vessel you can conduct most research and labs here on earth if there is an abandoned research station floating in space there is a good chance the research inside was too dangerous to conduct planetside in this case the Norwegians were using baboons it's actually quite common for us to use primates as placeholders for humans in preliminary safety trials humanity has after all sent 32 monkeys in space most of them had died but probably ended up saving some human lives in one way or another in this case the baboons were highly agitated and broke free from their containment zones and murdered everyone on board they probably also developed a taste for human flesh baboons are terrifying enough when their common relaxed these animals are the size of a dog had extremely powerful limbs and muscles and also have fangs in their mouths and zero-g they are natural killers space is dangerous in the ice haulers on the belt understand this better than anyone else now in the blackness of deep space far away from Earth and Mars if your ship breaks down you're pretty much screwed which is why there's an unwritten code amongst belters when it comes to responding to Mayday calls from ships in distress also technically by law you do have to check on distress beacons when you receive them and if you believe in karma well maybe helping these individuals that are stranded today means that one day when you need help someone will get you back now the crew of the ice hauler Canterbury were on the way back to Searcy station with a full load of Saturn ring ice the belters ancestors were suffering extreme water shortages said the ship was crucial to the station's survival the crew receives a distress signal from the ship called the Scopuli if they respond I'll take them off schedule which means missing out on crucial bonus pay also it's a common tactic for pirates that use distress beacons to lure unwitting ships into a trap and so the captain of the Canterbury decides to delete the message and pretend like nothing has happened but one of the crew members decides to take things into their own hands and sends the message out to corporates this makes the corporation liable that the ship doesn't at least investigate the Mayday call and so the Kant decides to send a small shuttle to investigate the Scopuli now the rescue team doesn't even make it onto the sky fuel I there is something very dangerous hiding inside of that ship but we're not gonna spoil that for you because there are some crucial story elements in the expanse that are tied through this so what happens is before the rescue team can even figure out what's going on a mysterious ship comes in and nowhere and destroys the Canterbury the whole made a call was supposedly a trap and the plot thickens the mere mention of dead space should send shivers down your spine and make you automatically reach for your plasma cutter the story of dead space takes place in the 2006 century and follows us systems engineer named Isaac Clark who was placed on our rescue mission of a planet cracker ship named the USG Ishimura the Samara had been operating over a gs-7 when all communications from the ship went silent the cause of this is a huge Necromorph infestation aka the most terrifying space on bees you can imagine see an object known as the marker was emitting highly concentrated electromagnetic signals which could basically reanimate dead flesh at the same time the signal creates homicidal and suicidal thoughts along with dementia in intelligent life-forms which basically only speeds up the infection rate and creates more cannon fodder for the marker so it reanimates all of these dark remarks are connected through a hive mind and you are only an engineer with no military training and no real weapons Survival this can be tough nooks are like the clawhammer of humanities tool chest they're quite powerful and can be used to solve a variety of different problems when her son shuts down because it's a complete pansy and doesn't get enough animal protein the great minds of Earth come to a conclusion that the only way we can save our planet from complete vampire domination is somehow send a nuke into the Sun and so in 2050 the Icarus once set off on a voyage to the center of the solar system but all communications with the ship were lost seven years later in 2057 the Icarus two attempts the same journey towards the Sun now the curved one the Icarus to realize what was at stake here if they failed this second mission then all life would fade away on earth so when the crew the Icarus to find the distress beacon for the Icarus one they kind of have to decide whether they want to go check it out or not had I been on that ship I obviously would have told them not to go onto that ship this is the whole point of this video never go on to a derelict ship however the Icarus one was still intact which means it still had its nuclear payload which gives humanity a second shot at restarting the Sun in case the first nuke bails and so the crew decides to dock with the Icarus one unfortunately they didn't realize that captain Penn Barker of the Icarus one had completely lost his mind during the trip and developed an extreme religious belief that God wanted all humans to die and so he trapped this entire crew in the solar viewing room on the Icarus and turned off the heat shield which immediately immolated everyone aside from himself when the rescue team from the Icarus to arrive and connects with the Icarus one pin Barker somehow makes it on board the Icarus two and sabotages the airlock in between the two ships forcing the rescue team to make a transit through vacuum to get back captain pan Barker his goal is to prevent the Icarus two from completing his mission so he tries to kill everyone on board the ship because the crew of the Icarus decided to stop for derelict they almost threw away our only chance to save earth luckily for Humanity Kempton pin bakker didn't take into account that you never fought with a peaky blinders just because a derelict starship has crash-landed on a plant doesn't mean it's actually safer than one floating in space when the crew of the u.s. CSS Nostromo flew pennants the moon Archer on lv-426 the signal was broadcast to their ship because the Nostromo is a commercial hauler for the weyland-yutani corporation the crew work contract bound to investigate any potential signs of extraterrestrial life they find a massive derelict alien spaceship crashed onto the surface of the moon and began investigating its abandoned interior it seems like whoever crashed the ship had been gone for hundreds if not thousands of years eager to make some interesting discoveries the crew of the Nostromo eventually uncover a chamber full of leather egg-like objects these eggs just happen to be full of some of the most potent biological weapons ever created a xenomorph while we're still on the subject of crashed derelict ships let's take a look at the movie predators a group of highly trained killers are dumped on a Game Preserve first super predator hunters these were basically an extremely advanced race of joe rogan like hunters that enjoyed the thrill of hunting the most dangerous game they could find while running away from all the predators and dangerous beasts on the planets the group of humans end up encountering a Morpheus named Ronald Noland who has survived for over 10 years by hiding out in a giant crash ship in normal circumstances you could trust a face like this red pill blue pill you know he's looking out for your best intentions but Ronald over here is a psychopath and he's laid a trap for all of his new friends when they enter his lair he tries to lock them in and kill them with smoke he basically wants their food ammo and weapons all of this commotion attracted predators to the scene which made this derelict ship safehouse all the Sun not very safe at all if you have no science fiction you've probably heard of the event horizon in one way or another it's the infamous ship that disappeared in 2047 the ship had been on its maiden voyage to Proxima Centauri when it disappeared which is why the world was shocked when the event horizon mysteriously reappeared around Neptune in a decaying orbit the time was of the essence if they were gonna save the ship and so the Lois and Clark rescue vessel was dispatched to see what was going on the event horizon had an experimental gravity drive on board which could create a wormhole between two places in space and decrease the amount of time it took to get from one area to another something must have malfunctioned for the ship to have returned to our own solar system worse yet that distress call from the ship was full of screaming madness and a bit of Latin when the rescue team arrives on board the event horizon there are signs a massacre all over the ship but no survivors can be found one of the rescue team members accidentally enters the ship's gravity drive which sends a shock wave through the ship that damages the Lewis and Clark leaving the rescuers kind of stranded on the event horizon for now as time goes on each individual on the rescue team begins experiencing odd symptoms like seeing hallucinations and apparitions of individuals from their past the guy who fell through the gravity Drive was now also in a catatonic state and tried to kill himself in airlock finally the rescue team manages to recover a video of what's happened to the crew and they witness a really brutal scene where they all basically Massacre each other the crew the Lewis Clark comes to the conclusion that the gravity drive had somehow opened a portal into a hellish dimension and now the event horizon was possessed I don't think it gets any worse than that the last ship on our list is a bit different instead of having our protagonist be a rescue team who's about to board a derelict ship they wake up on a derelict ship in a divergent future for Humanity our earth becomes overpopulated and runs at our resources which forces us to build an interstellar Ark known as the Elysium on board our sixty thousand human colonists they will travel them for more than 123 years to the planet known as Tanis some unknown time in the future two members of the flight crew wake up from their hypersleep improperly which grants them with partial amnesia and possibly a much more serious disorder known as Pandorum a mental illness that is associated with long-term space travel and can lead to psychosis the two individuals find the ship in a poor state there are constant electrical surges thanks to the unstable nuclear reactor they also start encountering other survivors who are hiding from groups of cannibalistic humanoids who have basically taken over the ship the good thing is they can't really see they can only respond to sound now no one seems to understand exactly what's happened on this ship and I don't want to tell you either because there's some really interesting twists involved but what I can tell you is that the trip to tennis was supposed to take 123 years like we mentioned before and that the Elysium have been traveling for far longer than that so there you have it guys eight dangerous ships that should give you an idea why you should never go on board a ghost ship there's just nothing in there for you to I'm guessing by the thumbnail that Event Horizon is #1, which I'd say is accurate. Hard to top "let's board a ship that literally connects to Hell" in terms of bad ideas.

This is a pretty awful list.

Plus, wouldn't the Anubis be worse to board than the Scoupli? The Scopuli was a trap and in of itself wasn't bad to board (it was more deadly to those who didn't board :D). The Anubis had the funtimes horror of the drive core being coated in moving human remains.

Kind of feel like number one should have been Event Horizon. As the guy said, it doesn't much worse than that.

Also, they should have included the ship from the "Beyond the Aquila Rift" episode of Love, Death and Robots

Dude talks like killer baboons in space is a totally normal thing to expect between the moon and Mars. God ad Astra was terrible. Moon pirates and zero g coming up out of the well and nothing resembling physics. Nothing. Horrible movie.

I would put the Anubis as worse than the Scopuli. Nothing on the Scopuli to worry about.
