[Applause] he said an ashtray he likes it well thanks thanks Mike Thanks all of this so I I'm taking five minutes and so I have just I think a few little notes too so this is the five-minute version of eight self-help principles one in the beginning this work is frightening difficult takes courage but it's not complicated it's hard but it's simple once you understand it too you got to treat this like a mental game that you can win you have a challenger it has a strategy come up with your counter strategy and apply that you'll be saying to OCD I'm not playing your game anymore three don't do exposure exposure doesn't work do exposure with attitude what's the best attitude I want to do this I want what I don't want I want what scares me for own this work don't read a self-help book and follow those instructions comprehend it's figure it out what's it mean don't comply with your therapists instructions collaborate decide what your plan is defend the logic of your plan and then want to do what you should do own this work five this is an aggressive sport you need an attacking offense you got to bring it OCD I gotta take what you're dishing out give me two servings and give them to me now six don't say maybe I locked the door maybe I didn't I can handle uncertainty maybe I ran somebody over this morning on the highway and killed them maybe I didn't I can handle uncertainty this has nothing to do with your content your topic your theme this is about uncertainty simple old generic uncertainty and the good news is again none of this in your topic has to be paid attention to go find uncertainty do something that brings you doubt then walk on without answering the question what do you say in those moments good I'm here to handle uncertainty seven you win this game moment by moment don't worry about the long-term don't worry about the future it is right now that's what it's about eight in the beginning this is terrifying to do this work I know that you know that but if we strip all of this down to very simple structure here's what it looks like and sounds like OCD you yeah you I'm treating that like an obsession you I am so done with that turn away you who sitting with uncertainty is hard repeat have a good life [Applause]
