8 Cars Banned in America... ILLEGAL

america land of the free and home of the brave have a population of over 300 million people and over 250 million cars are registered so it's fair to say that we really like cars but what happens if a car isn't available in the us well we have to wait 25 years before we can import them so in this video we're gonna go through eight of my absolute favorite cars that we're still waiting to become other day and with that let's check out some of those cars that are extremely desirable that you just can't have yet let's go so what's the first car that's on this list well it's probably the first car that comes to everybody's mind when you're talking about banned cars any guesses yeah the nissan skyline r34 gtr and if you want to go snag one of these limited edition ideal teas yeah that is bayside blue go check it out up here because whether you're a bayside blue fan midnight purple fan or they really look good in white this car is so legendary that people know the name of the colors and what about that engine yeah that engine that goes roar or is it it's a pcb because it's got not one but two terpsky's we're talking about the rb26 and of course you've heard of them it's like one of the most legendary motors of all time and that's because the r34 skyline was one of the most technologically advanced cars at the time so much so that even though it wasn't legal in the us car legend paul walker just had to get his hands on one and his r34 that he did have in the u.s went for an insane price when the estate sold it if you want to know how much you got to go check out this ideal video so the million dollar question or like bazillion dollar question why is the r34 gtr not legal in the us well the answer is actually pretty simple see it essentially failed some safety tests and nissan just didn't find it economically viable to retrofit the skylines for the us market and so it's been a long 20ish years but we're only a few years away from actually being able to get our hands on them legally but luckily there is another option because if you want a similar car for a lot less money you could always get it already legally imported r32 gtr which is the original godzilla and there have been some people that have retrofitted the r34 gtr body kit on the r32 but what's the fun in that just get the real deal or just play in a different sandbox because the r34 gtr is definitely the most legendary it's the most iconic and it's loved by all across the pond i think i speak for pretty much everybody in the enthusiast community we all want one so when they become legal stateside they are going to be extremely expensive in fact they may be more expensive than a lamborghini and one lambo that never made it stateside is the lamborghini strosek diablo isn't that quite the name the lamborghini strosek diablo looks like someone tried to make some sort of kit car to resemble a lamborghini and it doesn't look like it's designed to be exactly like a lamborghini but trust me it is a real lambo so what were they thinking essentially those quirky guys over at lamborghini took the awesome diablo off the assembly line and changed it to this yeah and there's not just one but two reasons why these things are illegal stateside the first is that the headlights didn't pass regulation because they're too small and the second is the placement of the side mirrors but throw that all out because what is a true lambo made of in your face styling and let me be the first to say the strosek diablo has a lot of in-your-face styling a lot of it and in fact with its raised mirrors and itty-bitty headlights it kind of looks like a sad puppy except puppies do get the chicks and i bet if you were to drive one of these and have a puppy you'd be drumming up a ton of attention and another car that will drum up a ton of attention as well but maybe a little bit different attention is the saab 95 sport combi it was the talk of the town during the geneva motor show in 2011 which can you believe it or not is about 10 years ago now and at the time it became one of the most desirable cars in the us so of course saab promised that they bring it to the us as soon as production was finished unfortunately that never happened because saab ended up in bankruptcy and only a few units of the saab 95 sport combi ever got produced so did any of those ever make it to the u.s well no because the us did some ah well i i'm not gonna say shoddy things but the government essentially decided to ban the car for unknown reasons why well the world may never know it goes without saying that the saab 95 sport combi is a rare sight to behold but i doubt it's got anything on this next car that can't be sold in the us because this thing comes standard with no doors or windows so it pretty much has everything that you need removed so what is it it's the lotus 340r what the heck is that thing it's like a lotus elise on steroids but one that's designed to be lighter and simpler than the car it's actually based on stitching doors windows and its roof because who really needs those speaking of which if you haven't seen the video of the cross country trek in the gen 1 viper without doors oh wait it has doors but no windows no door handles or a roof you definitely got to go check out that video because this 340r sounds eerily similar except that lotus actually just stripped it down to basically just its fenders wait i just i just realized something the lotus 340r is basically just a lotus buggy powered by a tiny 1.8 liter inline four that's pretty much mounted just like an inch or two behind your head so even though it has a small motor zero to 60 comes in an impressive 4.4 seconds and it will keep accelerating until your face peels off your body or actually in reality uh until you hit 133 miles per hour and yeah that may not sound all that fast because it really isn't but remember you're flying over 100 miles per hour down the tarmac and essentially a tin car with a motor attached to it it's fast and i forgot to mention but the power is fed through not two but three pedals so what's not to love well let's say that it didn't even get close to passing us safety standards apparently one of the requirements is that the car has some sort of doors and windows or something like that weird right i think we figured out that the lotus 340r really isn't all that practical so what's a good option if you need practicality and you want to flex on your american mates well the audi rs6 should nicely fit that bill which is illegal in the us after 2004. and not available stateside until 2020. right that's like this year heck yeah but the reason it wasn't available for such a long time here in the us was because audi figured that americans just didn't really like station wagons and man is that ever so far from the truth i bet that once this thing goes on sale in the u.s it's gonna sell like hotcakes and the cherry on top is the supercar motor that's stuffed into this estate mobile and plus it's got that quattro all-wheel drive which is so confidence inspiring so that means that this wagon can pretty much go anywhere and man that car is so beautiful it's iconic really dare i say ideal the big engine in the rs6 is definitely thirsty which can be a turn off to some and if that's the case for you then the smart choice would be to get the volkswagen xl1 so you probably have never heard of this thing and what is the volkswagen xl1 you would think if you were deciphering it xl would mean large and you may or may not be right because this little science experiment was drummed up in a lab behind closed doors and then it was unveiled to the public in 2011 and what makes this xl1 so unique is its power plant because it is essentially the opposite of xl it's like xs it's powered by a one liter two cylinder diesel plug in hybrid wait what a diesel hybrid yeah volkswagen scientists really went all in and pushed their engineering potential to the limit because the xl1 has a whopping 47 horsepower let that sink in for a minute underwhelming right well i bet you didn't guess that this thing gets 260 miles per gallon let me repeat that because i don't think i enunciated 260 miles per gallon that's crazy and you want to know another crazy stat they only made 250 of these throughout the world and not even one of them came to the states what a shame dieselgate be damned and if you were lucky enough or early enough to get one of these you only had to shell out 150 000 a bargain if you ask me well not if you talk horsepower per dollar because then you'd be spending like three thousand dollars per horsepower yeah no bueno so i guess the xl1 is going after those tree huggers and if you want something that makes you feel like you're living a little bit more on the edge then you gotta check out the tvr sagaris what makes the cigar so rowdy you ask well you got a naturally aspirated inline six producing 400 ponies and then you got the slick shift in five speed manual transmission powering all of that power to the rear wheels [Music] so that all sounds grand but what makes it illegal in the united states well the beast had no traction control no abs no airbags and it weighed about as much as a frisbee and when you add all this stuff up that gave it better power to weight ratio than a porsche 918 spider so that essentially makes it like a death trap like a gen 1 viper and did i mention that it's got side pipes like a gen 1 viper smells like british excellence and the only thing cooler than side pipes is the different colors that you can get the tvr in they painted it any color that their customer wanted so it's fair to assume that there are some absolutely bonkers cigaresses roaming the street out there just none of them made it to the u.s sadly so the tbr cigaris is a crazy sports coupe and if you want the sportiness of the sagaris but the practicality of a hatchback you gotta get the renault sport clio v6 this thing is bad ass made by the french automaker renault renault the clio is the utilitarian hatchback but this thing is a wolf in sheep's clothing because you know what happens when the fella's over at reno sip just a little bit too much wine well i bet you can guess in a sec because you get this the rhino sport clio v6 they removed the rear seats and most of the trunk space and there's really only one reason why you would do that to make room for the legendary rear mid engine v6 what this makes it it makes it like one of the only mid-engine hatchbacks of of all time those guys are crazy yeah not only does this thing look like a million bucks but it is extremely unique and sadly these things are getting harder and harder to come by with only 1300 ever produced and again none of those ever made it to the u.s soil and let me rub a little bit of salt in the wound and explain exactly why we should be extremely sad we never got this thing and that's pretty much because the engineers at renault paired the rev happy naturally aspirated v6 up to a six-speed manual too bad that no reynolds were ever sold in the us so out of this list what is the first car that you would make legal here in the u.s for me of course i'd want to rip around in the r34 gtr and you know it's gotta be faceside blue baby but bayside blue baby and in the comments let
