[Music] in this episode we're gonna check out the delicious the delectable stuff i eat a plant-based restaurant in englewood california we'll meet the world-renowned owner and head chef babette davis and she'll talk about how she creates these mouth-watering dishes this is one of the many incredible plant-based restaurants here in the city of angels if you like this video hit the subscribe button and click the bell to be notified about all our new videos los angeles is the number one city in california for plant-based options with more than 200 vegan and vegetarian restaurants people think animals are different from us but they're not they have emotions feelings and families and we have no right to murder them or make them our slaves especially when there are so many other delicious and nutritious alternatives one of the best is stuff i eat restaurant it's the place for vegan soul food and everything on the menu is incredible with gigantic portions and tasty flavors we stopped in and had a chat with babette davis and she showed us around and talked about her delicious food and life philosophy what made me think i could actually open a vegan restaurant in this community [Music] my name is bobed davis and i am the head chef and co-owner of stuff i eat restaurant we're located at 114 north market street in beautiful downtown inglewood california [Music] prior to opening we had a lot of people that kind of looked at us like we were nuts are you sure you're going to have a vegan restaurant in englewood california are you kidding me [Music] i've been vegan now for 24 years i had a multitude of issues eczema every month floating so much indigestion all the time but the more i studied and the more i learned i understood that i need to learn how to feed myself so that i don't destroy the lives of any other creature because of a lack of knowledge we don't sell anything that comes from an animal we don't do refined sugar we don't do dyes or preservatives i am a strong advocate of eating the diet that you were designed to eat therefore you're going to feel a lot better you're not going to harm another creature to nourish yourself with a diet that will not nourish you anyway will only make you sick [Music] i wanted to learn how to make vegan food taste like normal food we've got tacos we've got burritos we've got soul food a variety of soups but my specialty really is the raw desserts i absolutely love making them [Music] we put the soul food platter on the menu as a special we noticed the days we didn't have the soul food play people would come in and walk out so we just made the soul food plate a standard we've replaced what would have been meat with barbecue tofu so we sliced the tofu in strips put it on a griddle we brown the tofu on both sides season it and then we submerge it in barbecue sauce when you come to stuff i eat you will get a salad on your plate because everybody needs to have something raw when they're eating we do use a mac and cheese with a vegan cheese and people just absolutely love it you're able to get coleslaw and potato salad potato salad without eggs but it's absolutely delicious we serve you kale greens black eyed peas and a gluten-free cornbread made with buckwheat flour we've got a quesadilla that we call the kilimanjaro totally lives up to its name you get so many flavors with this particular quesadilla the portobello mushrooms you get carrot on tuna mop chicken and then we surround it all with fresh veggies guacamole the whole nine yards a wonderful wonderful dish a big seller is the enchilada pie that's layered with corn and tortillas and a wonderful red sauce we put zucchini and carrots in it and we bake it and people just go crazy over it today is a chocolate strawberry for my chocolate i'm using avocado i use agave nectar but i also use cacao paste and cacao butter yum let's sample it see how good it is chef pavette puts a lot of love in the food my big reward is knowing that you enjoyed your meal all we have to do is learn the proper way to nourish ourselves [Music] get educated and go plant-based if you want to learn more about the advantages of a plant-based diet go to the link in the upper right-hand corner and watch our video here's the address for stuff i eat and we'll leave a link in the description below we'd like to thank babette davis and all the people at stuff i eat for helping us make this video if you haven't subscribed yet go ahead and hit that button and we'll see you in the next video enjoy the life [Music]
